[1.0] "I honestly always hated these kinds of short lived belts. From the 24/7 belt and this one these kinds of championships can be hit or miss unless if it was the DDT Iron man heavy mental championship but apart from that these kinds just suck up TV time"

This title meant nothing, and basically since it's first appearance it was obvious that they didn't care or know what to do with it. The matches were messy or just completely bad, goofy nonsense. The only good things about it were Norman Smiley's comedic run and Terry Funk seemingly trying with his life to make the title mean something."

[2.0] "believe it or not, there was some good with this belt. Norman Smiley and Terry Funk are good holders, for obviously very different reasons. But yeah, this is a peak example of why Vince Russo had no idea what the fuck he was doing, and completely misunderstood hardcore wrestling as a whole. You could make an argument this belt was booked better than the world championship was in 2000, which isn't a good thing."

[3.0] "The big problem with the Hardcore division in WCW was that it was booked as a comedy break and nothing more, with the commentary team often just laughing at all the weapon based stuff. The WWF had some comedy in their Hardcore division as well, but it at least retained some level of seriousness to proceedings and occasionally you'd get genuine stars like Undertaker, Jeff Hardy, Big Show and Rob Van Dam holding the belt. WCW did have a genuine legend in Terry Funk holding the belt for a period of time, as well as a very entertaining run from Norman Smiley when he held the Title, but overall the belt was mostly held by lower card guys and never really got anywhere past the early slots on the card. The WWF at least did some interesting and inventive things with their Hardcore belt, such as Crash Holly and his 24/7 gimmick, but WCW never really got the most of their Hardcore belt and they didn't even bother vacating the belt and crowning a new Champion when Meng jumped to the WWF in 2001 whilst still Champ"

It's champions may not have been as good though, too many individuals at one time holding a singles title has always been something I dislike, and lowers the respect and prestige of it (in my opinion. )"
DanTalksRasslin wrote on 29.03.2019:
[2.0] "With the exception of its time held by perhaps its unlikeliest champion, Norman Smiley, who did do some very fun stuff with it, WCW's Hardcore Title was largely uninspired, with the matches never living up to either the extremes of ECW or the fun factor of the WWF's hardcore division, and its mere existence came off as a WWF copycat and made the company look bush-league."

[5.0] "Perhaps one of the least prestigious major promotions titles of all time? I best remember it as one of three championships held simultaneously by Lance Storm in the year 2000, which was a great moment in latter day WCW. Outside of that, I'd mostly give it credit for giving well deserved major promotion (albeit minor title) championship reigns to Bam Bam Bigelow, Shane Douglas, Norman Smiley and Terry Funk. If you look at the excitement that ECW was able to generate with their style of "hardcore" wrestling or the fun the WWE/WWF was able to have with their Hardcore Championship then there's really no denying that this title fell short even by the standard of a lower card title."

RavenEffect wrote on 29.12.2014:
[2.0] "This title was a total counterpart for WWE/F's version of Hardcore Championship, as WWE/F sometimes had really entertaining and fun hardcore matches and segments with actually talented hardcore wrestlers like Holly, Raven, Bossman, WCW's hardcore division mostly included filler hardcore matches, untalented hardcore wrestlers like Knobbs, Reno, Big Vito and past-his-prime Terry Funk, and a bad booking with huge amount of hotshotting, pointless storylines, and yeah, Eric Bischoff held this title too, so that tells enough."
