For a guy of his size and build, he was quite agile and was definitely the workhorse of the nWo. He was far more appreciated in Japan where he flourished and his career reached new heights. I always thought it was a shame he never joined WWE after he left WCW because he had that Attitude Era look. While he was far from an outstanding wrestler or top performer, I always enjoyed watching his matches."

[6.0] "2x IWGP Heavyweight Champion Scott Norton had a unique look but was another case of a good look and underwhelming wrestling skills. He's worked in the AWA, NJPW, NWA, WCW, WWF, AJPW, GCW, WRESTLE-1. He's been there and done that. His most prominent time was in WCW during the Monday Night Wars where he worked from September '95 to September '99. He's been part of big factions such as nWo Japan, nWo, BULLET CLUB and had some memorable teams with Buff Bagwell & Ice Train. He wasn't that impressive in the ring and you can count on one hand that amount of good matches he's had."

Did better in Japan from what I hear and aside from a breakout year (no belts to show for it though) in WCW 1998 where they started booking him like an unbeatable monster, he just petered out after jobbing to Rey Mysterio and eventually left in 99."

[10.0] "Incredibly strong, built like a tank, legit arm wrestling champion, scary looking monster of a man. I? ve watched him since 1992, he? s actually the first wrestler I ever remember seeing. He was over in Japan, due to his Japan deal he was totally misused in WCW, where he defended his IWGP title against Lodi, of all people and some other guy. I? ve always liked wrestlers, that looked legitimate, like they could actually beat pretty much anybody up. He will knife edge chop you, clothesline your head off, powerslam you, break your shoulder and powerbomb you so that even your children will be born dizzy - because that? s all he needs to do."

[6.0] "Scott Norton moved with the same speed as a tectonic plate: he is one of the slowest wrestlers I have seen in my life, and it's understandable considering the mountain of muscles he was. This lack of speed forced his opponents to pretty much throw themselves into his arms at full speed so he could perform a Shoulder Tackle, Lariat or another move because it would have taken centuries for him to reach them. Understandably this also made for some pretty ugly matches. However I have to give Norton credit where it's due: he tried, and tried hard, to improve his act when he could have just pocketed his paycheques and carried on with his life. His selling improved consistently and he also picked up some basic but decent mat wrestling to give some variety to his matches. Like it so often happen to many big, powerful men at one point Norton lost his appeal: basically he lost one time too many to be a believable threat anymore and he was smart enough to start winding down his career while still in decent shape. Not an all-time great by any stretch of imagination but a smarter and better wrestler than many give him credit for."

[0.0] "Scott Norton was a poor wrestler who had to be carried to anything decent, and even then it took a major miracle. Norton also loses points for regularly refusing to do jobs in New Japan, necessitating screwjobs finishes, something that Japanese fans hate. What makes Norton's stance on jobs even more infuriating is that he was so desperate to get into the WWF in 1994, that he did a clean job to Bob Holly, who was an opening match act at the time."

[8.0] "A tremendously-strong, hard-hitting power wrestler, known even before getting into pro wrestling for his time in the arm-wrestling world. His raw power gave his moves a good deal of legitimacy, and he could move quite well for a big man as well. Norton's style was perhaps best-suited to the Japanese wrestling scene, where he had his greatest success (including two runs with the IWGP Heayweight Title), though he also had midcard success with WCW as a secondary NWO member (his role in NWO Japan was much more prominent). Although more than capable as a single, Norton also did well as a tag wrestler, notably with Hercules Hernandez as the Jurassic Powers and with Tony Halme in NJPW, and as Vicious & Delicious with Buff Bagwell and Fire & Ice with Ice Train in WCW."
