Shane McMahon was that one extra hurdle for The Rock in the do or die match and it does take centre stage where he does everything in his power to try to make The Rock lose by fast counting him every chance he gets. He gets the opening where Big Show accidentally clatters Shane and he gets the Rock Bottom and People's Elbow and Shane recovers just as Earl Hebner was about to count to 3. Vince's arrival as it looked like The Rock had no hope of winning was a great moment and got a huge reaction where he hits Shane with a chair and counts the win for The Rock. Even if it isn't the most technical wrestling match you'll ever see, it's a very well done storyline angle that was built up well all show."

Rock, as always, electrified the audience in support of the people's champion, and on the part of the Big Show healers and referee Shane McMahon, the work was done well. The ending was a delight with the return of Vince McMahon to his company, who helped Rock win and get himself the right to participate in the match for the main title at Wrestlemania."
