Tomohiro Ishii vs. Toru Yano

[3.0] "I will admit, some of Yano's shenanigans are creative, however this match was just so creatively overdone and tiring."

[6.0] "One of Yano's better G1 matches this year as he got involved with more of the wrestling. He's not a horrible wrestler when he gets into it and of course Ishii makes everyone look better ***1/4"

[4.0] "This was not a particularly good example of the rare "Toru Yano gets serious" G1 match. Yano looked washed."

[6.0] "That was fun. Surely Yano's best match in this G1 and surely included Ishii in it. Their chemistry is sick as Ishii always brings out the best of Yano. Power vs. rolls-up, quite a fun matchup."

[6.0] "One of Yano's best matches of this year's G1 Climax. He has a very good chemistry with Tomohiro Ishii, Ishii got dominated a lot by Yano's Rollup attempts and even if Yano's win was unecessary here, it stills an enjoyable contest. ***1/4"

[7.0] "Further proof that Tomohiro Ishii brings the absolute best out of his opponents. Toru Yano started this match with his usual tricks, but Ishii knows this man about as well as anyone. And when he simply rolled back into the ring instead of entertaining what Yano was attempting to bait him into, we got a damn good match. Ishii dragged the fighting spirit out of Yano and we saw a surprising slugfest ensue. Once again, these two delivered a highly entertaining match that showed just how good Yano actually is in the ring and how generational Ishii is as an all-around competitor. Some genuinely great sequences, especially the Sliding Lariat and Crucifix moment. 3.5 stars, 7 out of 10."

[5.0] "Best possible match that we can get from THIS Toru Yano against Ishii, still not my cup of tea anyway."

[7.0] "These two always have fun matches and this was more of the same. Ishii actually motivating Yano to wrestle was a cool side-story."

[6.0] "Yano and Ishii always have fun matches, this was no exception. Yano brings out the amateur wrestling and brawling for Ishii and it's fun seeing them try to hurt each other after 20 years of friendship."

[6.0] "Some good sequences where Yano matches Ishii in terms of brawling and with using his amateur background for some takedowns, which was cool. Very little comedy in this match, mostly actually wrestling from Yano and cheating, of course. Not bad, but wrestling really isn't Yano's strong suit, Ishii was great as usual."

[5.0] "The least worst match of Yano in this G1, but even here Toru with 10 points is a total and useless upset honestly doubled by the fact that it comes againts Ishii who is always used as the one to sacrifice for the others."
