Darby Allin vs. Jon Moxley

[8.0] "Excellent from both men. They found a good balance here of both guys getting their stuff in rather than it just being a beatdown on Darby. Mox of course got popped open which almost always adds to his matches, and Darby had a couple big hope spots. Just a lot of fun. ****"

[8.0] "Amazing match, it had a lot of similar elements to their 2019 bout, like the work on Moxley's left hand, and the coffin drop to sleeper hold spot, which is an awesome one and they've repeated here... it doesn't click the same because we've already seen it, but those are great moments as well. The beginning of the match is excellent, with Darby making his entrance with a Moxley mask and Mox ripping it and punching Darby, which made Darby bleed from his mouth, an amazing moment. After that Moxley dominated the match and threw Darby violently into the ring post, another great spot, and Darby sold the beating very well of course. That MJF/Wardlow interference was alright, I could live without it, but it's a cool storytelling, and the nearfall after that was great. Mox won the match with the paradigm shift after Darby showed a lot of heart and kicked out of the piledriver. Excellent stuff, Mox showed a lot of respect for Darby after the match too - {***3/4}"

[8.0] "[4.0*] Incredible match where the main focus was clearly the storytelling. Darby entered with a Mox mask and on the first strike of the match Mox punched the hell out of his face and he started bleeding from the mouth. Then Mox had a lot of dominance, which was an incredible visual because Darby is just a phenomenal seller, and then we got the classic Darby comeback, that had a MJF participation on the middle, which I disliked a lot, but created a heart stopping nearfall on the Coffin Drop. Mox then reversed a second Coffin Drop attempt into a rear naked choke in a Holy Shit moment. Darby showed all his heart to escape and got caught with a Gotch-Style Piledriver and he kicks out again! Mox then gives him a sad look, because he did not want to end Darby, but he knew that the guy would not give up, so he hits him with a high angle Paradigm Shift for the win and immediately hugs him. Beautiful story."

[7.0] "(Grade:C/***) This match was a good and a nice test to see Darby is measuring up to be world champion material. Jon Moxley did a right job of staying dominate being the world champion and testing Allin grit to stay in the fight. The whole MJF interference wasn't needed just for the little moment of Darby thinking he would get the victory cut short."

[8.0] "Really excellent match. I think everyone knew Darby was losing and this was just a test to see what all it would really take. Mox himself hoped Darby would give up when he knew it was time and he kept reiterating that through the match. "Its time for you to get pinned." "Youre supposed to tap out to that." Mox didn't want to have to punish him this way but Darby gives him no choice. Right off rip Darbys mouth is busted open from Mox's first punch. Really sets the tone for what we're about to see. And that was Darby fighting for his life, never giving up, never saying die. Some cool spots here my favoirte being Mox throwing Darby off the stage into the ring post. Darbys comeback sequences were great and filled with fire. MJF getting involved on Darbys behalf didnt hurt it at all for me it actually helped because it made sense storywise, of course MJF would rather face Darby over Mox, and it actually made me believe for just a moment maybe Darbycould win. Great match."

[8.0] "Mox and Darby stuff so much beautiful wrestling and full-throated emotion into just 15 minutes here, with a perfectly paced non-stop (save for the lead-up to a great false finish) bout that highlighted all the niches of both of these characters' gimmicks and their genuinely heartwarming relationship. Lovely storytelling, engaging action, great stuff."

[8.0] "A nice match for its short duration. We feel tension between the two. An intervention from MJF and Wardlow then in rivalry with Moxley. A solid and well-written match. Too bad it didn't last longer. (4*)"

[8.0] "One of best Moxley's first title reign defenses: the best thing about this match was the storytelling, they told a simple yet effective story about an arrogant and prideful Darby Allin who refused to give up and kep fighting so the veteran Jon Moxley had to teach him a lesson despite not wanting to. The final image of this match was amazing: a bloody Moxley holding Darby's lifeless body while whispering him something. The action was also very good, there were a couple of great spots and MJF even tried to screw Moxley by hitting him with the belt and cost him the match. Great stuff. 8/10 - 4.25*/5*"

[8.0] "I really hope Mox and Darby and close out their trilogy one day and that Darby can finally get that win, cuz they work very well together."

[8.0] "Another great match on this show which also deserved a big crowd to react to everything that was going on in the ring as everything was so good, which is not surprising as Moxley and Darby have always had a very special chemistry in a good way of course as they always deliver great content together. The only little thing that bothered me about the match was the inevitable intervention of MJF as I can understand that they were in a rivalry at the time yes but MJF absolutely wanted the title so why attack Moxley in order to make him lose ? Doesn't make a lot of sense even though it's not the first time we've seen this. But apart from that, the match was just phenomenal filled with intensity and interesting sequences, Darby gave his life for this title match and I loved the connection with Mox. Hopefully one day they can replicate that in front of a big crowd."

[6.0] "Allin was good as the smaller guy fighting underneath. Moxley was fine too. This was somewhat good match."

[7.0] "This was infinitely better than their first match. Allin was the relentless challenger, showing the type of resiliency reserved for the industry's best heroes. He frustrated Moxley throughout the match, driving the champion to demand that his challenger "stay down" or "tap when I tell you to tap. " That did not happen, leaving Moxley with no other option than to deliver the very same Paradigm Shift that nearly broke Allin's neck the last time they clashed. The storytelling here elevated the match's overall quality, though the in-ring action itself was equally as strong. MJF interfering in an attempt to choose the man he would challenge at All Out was totally in character, especially for someone who has already spoken so much trash on Moxley as it is."

[8.0] "A bit of too much melodramatic TALKING by Moxley for my liking, but other than that, this was a pretty darn awesome underdog bout. The opening of the match with Moxley making Darby bleed with the very first punch delivered was badass, Moxley's control section was solid - of course made all the better by Darby's great bumping & good selling, as well as his always lovely, explosive comebacks. The finishing stretch after the MJF interference was real good too, with nice urgency by Darby & great selling by Mox."

[7.0] "Darby Allin had shown us how great a storyteller he is with his series with Cody, and this was another brilliant performance from him. Knowing that this was the biggest match of his career, he imbues such a sense of urgency in every offensive maneuver that I started to root for him even though I wanted Mox to retain. Speaking of Moxley, his storytelling was really great as well as he tried to finish off his adversary as quickly as possible."

[7.0] "Darby Allin is the best underdog in wrestling right now. Moxley also played the role of dominant champion very well. Allin? s spots were great here and the story told in-ring of Moxley reluctantly destroying Allin was quite good too."

[7.0] "This was good. Everything was done well and Moxley came out looking like a big deal. Mox the dominant Champion and Allin played a great underdog. MJF interference was on the spot and it really was needed as despite being #1 Contender, he has never had a segment with Mox. The coffin drop made me believe that Darby Allin was actually gonna become Champion. This was a good match but Darby Allin loosing again and again in a big match isn't good for him. ***3/4"

[6.0] "Decent match but I don't really get the hype. Might be that I don't get Darby Alllin at all. Moxley had a great performance and the interference made sense."

[8.0] "Good match where both Moxley and Allin looked strong. Honestly thought Allin was going to win and make it a triple threat match after the interference. Moxley looked like the strong dominant champion and Allin looked solid as well. Well booked Dynamite main event."

[8.0] "This match didn't disappoint. It was hard hitting and violent as you would expect with these two. Darby took a sick bump into the ring post and did a great job showing his desperation to get back into the match after that spot, and later in the match when he was desperate to win. Meanwhile, Moxley was his usual great self, although his selling was weak at points. Blading made the title shot look convincing, but in the end Moxley retains. ****-****1/4"

[10.0] "Absolutely one of my favorite matches of 2020, this was a beautiful thing. The match was set up perfectly, Mox's promo and Darby coming out with the paper mask with the ye torn out. Every piece of the match was so keyed in to the overall story, from Darby's reckless attacks and nonstop attitude to Moxley being both beaten to hell but also ready to handle what Darby threw at him, albeit just barely. Mox's reign has been incredible, these two looked like they went to hell and back."

[8.0] "This match featured great psychology. The in-ring action was hard-hitting and fun. Allin got some good near-falls and hit some of his big spots. The interference made sense and was set up well with the MJF segment earlier in the program. This was how you book a face vs. face veteran vs. young worker title match."

[8.0] "Good main event, great story, I love when Moxley is the bigger man, his character is so layered and convincing. When Allin beats Moxley in 2 years in front of an audience, it will be amazing."

[9.0] "Excellent ending to an excellent show. Allin got a ton of his cool looking, quick strike, explosive and high flying daredevil offense in before succumbing to the dominant world champion, who has a big match coming up, and we all knew was not losing this match. But Moxley did all he could to put Darby over, including bleeding like crazy for him. Darby kicked out of some menacing moves, and did not tap to the choke, despite being in it for awhile. This is how a young, rising star gets over in defeat."

[7.0] "Great brawl with some brutal spots, honestly my main criticism is that it didn't go longer and didn't have much time to develop. I love how Darby threw caution to the wind and refused to give up until he physically couldn't go anymore, but I really wish this match was given more time to develop. ***1/2+"

[8.0] "Moxley shows aggression and brutality. Nobody suffers better than Darby. That alone already made for a great match. Would love to see this on PPV with a bit more time."

[7.0] "Pretty good for a weekly TV show main event. Although I think it was made pretty obvious that Moxley would win thanks to the MJF feud (and I think JR even said last week that the upcoming PPV title match would be Moxley vs MJF, not MJF vs the current champ), I did half-way bite on the Coffin Drop finish because Moxley's kick out was so perfectly late. In the end though, even with a predictable outcome, I think these guys have done well to sell us on a PPV match between them some time down the line. They work well together and can do pretty well with a TV slot. I'm interested in seeing what they can do in a future PPV match, hopefully by which time a Darby win will seem much more plausible (without undermining his underdog status completely). I did think this got a little dangerously close to "I'm sorry, I love you" melodrama, but they didn't sink too far into it. All in all, a decent way to close the show."

[8.0] "Great hard hitting match between these two. Moxley showing the respect he has for Darby and Darby took an incredible amount of punishment in this one."

[8.0] "Darby Allin's match formula is simple yet works really well for him and his opponent. This is not an exception. Moxley controls on top while Darby finds some ways to response to Jon's work. He does his usual stuff and it is all good. The drama is pretty damn good, too. MJF's interference isn't the best choice but that is unsurprising to me. Almost as good as their previous encounter. Really good TV stuff."

[8.0] "Loved it. Mox has tons of respect for Darby, essentially views him like a younger brother of sorts, and the match finish and aftermath reflected that. The match itself was a great, hard-hitting 14-minute match. Definitely worth a watch."

[8.0] "Highly decent. One of the best matches Moxley has had outside of his 2019 G1 showings. Probably his best match in 2020 so far."

[8.0] "Good title defense, held together by Moxley giving the match a real story with his great promo at the start of the show and then his demeanor during the match, trying to keep Darby from making the same mistakes he made himself early in his career. The punch thrown at the start was brutal, not sure how Darby wasn't knocked out cold. The interference by MJF made sense story-wise, but I liked that it did not immediately go to the finish. Speaking of finish, they recreated the finish spot from their first match last year, which the commentary team completely glossed over, since without the help from Excalibur the three old guys have the memory of a gold fish -- to be fair, Taz is excused because the first match was before his time, but J. R. and Tony should have mentioned it. With all their talk about maintaining continuity in storylines, they do a piss-poor job of their own in helping the storylines."

[7.0] "Really good, exactly the type of match you would expect between them. I think these two will always be good against each other"

[9.0] "Great main event. Always been a huge fan of Darby. The storytelling and intensity was great in this match. Its only a matter of time before gets his big win over Cody or Moxley. He gets closer ever time. ****1/4"

[8.0] "This was great, and as someone who has never really clicked with the Darby Allin character, this helped things click."

[9.0] "Pretty much the brawl that you would expect from Mox and Darby with lots of awesome and risky spots. Very good main event match."

[9.0] "The match was good. It had a lot of high spots. Darby was willing to take any risk to win the win the title. But MOX just dominated again, and again. The MJF interference + Coffin Drop wasnt necessary, that made MOX a tough SOB and Darby's Finisher weak AF. The headlock into the GotchStyle Piledriver was a nice touch. The promo afterwards by MOX putted Darby over. So overall a good match."

[9.0] "This was so great, it was the type of brawl you would expect from Mox and another guy that literally destroys his body with every occasion. The ending was also great, increased the stakes for Moxley's defense against MJF."
