Leon Slater vs. Myron Reed

[6.0] "Cool stuff match. Young guys main eventing with the X-Division belt. Leon's finisher looks so good that you hope they don't kick out."

[9.0] "I think this match is the perfect combination of the high flying action that defines the division and a more technical opening. It also gives both wrestlers enough room to show their personalities without taking too much focus away from the match itself. Slater and Reed have excellent chemistry, and it shows throughout. The exchange that ends with the Stunner on the outside was absolutely incredible, a great example of how well they understand each other in the ring. An exciting and very well balanced match."

[0.0] "Bad, bad, bad. I'd use this match as a course on how not to wrestle. It was zero selling, a bunch of over the top moves with no breathing, and the way they took the bumps was overkill. It was hot indy nonsense with two guys in the 150 range just going a million miles an hour instead of learning to work. And inevitably with that you get spots where it's blatant that they are working together and putting on a ballet."

[10.0] "Now, this is what I really like to see, TNA focusing on themselves instead playing 2nd fiddle (like... maybe 10th fiddle? ) to NXT. Leon Slater is a very exciting wrestler who has come over from the UK and he is, astonishingly, only 21 year old and has shown tremendous skill for his age, which has allowed him to shoot up the ranks of the wrestling world quickly. Myron Reed is 28, still young but not by comparison, and man who has been grinding on the scene for almost 10 years now, often in obscure indies no less. I recall actually seeing him live back in 2017, the one time I went to an AAW show in Chicago. So there's an interesting dynamic here from the start, the young guy who has put tons of legwork in to get to this point against the REALLY young guy who shot to the top of the pile overnight, two young guns looking to have a shootout over the future of wrestling. I'm not especially up on TNA storylines but it seemed to be a case of face vs. face, which in this case I think worked very well. I think also this was the first PPV main event for either man in their career, since the world title is sitting around the waist of an NXT guy currently... well, I'll leave that aside for the moment. I knew this would be an athletically exciting match if nothing else, but it turned out to be a whole lot more than that. Don't get me wrong, the match was filled with exceptionally cool spots, the most memorable of which was a move where Reed jumped from inside the ring, caught Slater's head as he stood on the apron, and in one continuous motion dragged him down for an insane cutter on the outside, that was wild stuff. There was a risk here of going into Ospreay territory where it felt like the big moves didn't matter but I think they neatly avoided it for a couple reasons. 1. The youth and energy of these guys helped me buy into the fact that they were able to power through and keep blasting even as they absorbed a lot of damage. 2. The match went under 14 minutes so they never crossed the point where I was thinking about how both guys received a death move 25 minutes prior with no consequence. 3. The story and feeling of the match sold me on the idea that this was a fight not just for a victory, but to prove something in performance to the world, and I think it succeeded in just that. Plus the crowd really loved it, and that always helps a lot. Slater picked up the win as I expected, enroute to a probable cross promotional match with J'Evon Evans, but I hope Myron gets more opportunity based off this match. My 3rd favorite TNA match this year, and my #45 overall on the MOTY list."

[9.0] "Match of the night. I didn't really care for Reed until one or two weeks ago - and yet his performance here was so good that I would have popped if he won the championship. Slater was also fantastic, as usual. This was a great main event, and and didn't overstay its welcome. I'm surprised they didn't give Reed a contract at the end (unless he's already signed, but I don't remember them saying it)."

[8.0] "A great showing for both men. This was exactly what Myron Reed needed, a singles outing that showcases just how impressive he can be, this for sure will put him on the map for people who don't keep their ears to the indies. Leon Slater also looked like a great champion here, I'm a sucker for an underdog champion and Reed gave Slater that babyface fire by lil broing him early on. I thought for a bit that they were playing it quite safe, staying in second gear but still bumping really well for each other but it was building to this fantastic final stretch. Roll through counter to a suplex over the top rope, countered to another suplex which is turned into a Stundog Millionaire. Absolutely insane spot which popped me hard. Reed then doubles down with a Hot Fire to the outside which was also fucking insane. Slater not to be out done reverses a Superplex into a Twisting Superplex and hits the Swanton 450 Splash with precision. Not just athletically impressive as the X Division usually is but it was also just a well structured build for a match that deserved its main event spot"

[8.0] "It's always cool to see the Rascalz entrance where they sign on the wall. The two wrestlers had a good match as expected. They were flying everywhere. After the match we had a nice show of respect between the two men which is always cool to see then Santino made an announcement. We know who will face Slater. Slater vs Evans the poster is dreamy and we're going to have another great match."

[10.0] "You know you're onto a winner when you get gasps at chain wrestling. Crowd came alive for this one and rightly so. There are so many mindblowing sequences particularly the suplex spot to the outside. Slater gets such incredible height when he leaves the mat that it beggars belief. Not just a spot match but I thought it told an interesting story of the two innovating and adjusting to each others styles and tells and adapting accordingly and all that in a Svelte 14 minutes."

[9.0] "Absolute barn burner, a match that reminds you about what makes the X division special. breakout performance by myron reed, the cutter onto the floor, crazy stuff. Some of the best athletic displays I have seen in a ring"

[8.0] "A great match were Reed's Cutter stood and everything looked good. A little but really enjoyable overall. ****1/4"

[5.0] "I'm beginning to wonder if I even like wrestling anymore. This was a high impact dance routine from bell to bell - the crowd had zero investment in a winner and was simply there for all the cool & complicated sequences. Admittedly the jaw-dropping highs were ridiculous, but none of them existed in the context of a fight with advantages based around accumulated damage. Yawn **1/2"
