[6.0] "A nice little tournament show. Nothing too special overall, but you could definitely sense Bill Watts' philosophy starting to shape the product. Most of the matches were solid, aside from The Freebirds vs The Silver Kings, which completely fell apart midway through. Still, there were some interesting surprises in terms of talent - seeing names like Malenko, Wellington, and Benoit in WCW at that time was unexpected. The clear highlight, though, was the main event, with The Steiners, Gordy, and Williams going all out and delivering a brutal, physical match that felt like a real fight. Both teams worked stiff, and the intensity made it stand out as a proper main event. So all in all, a few enjoyable matches, a good overall pace, and a fantastic way to end the Clash."

[6.0] "Decent show which tied in well with the Beach Blast PPV in the same week, as Watts did his best to ignore the tournament and get over his own storylines instead. The positives of that are good wrestling with logical psychology and clean finishes. The negatives are that he will get his favourites over at the expense of anything else, plus he will kill the light heavyweight division immediately, because those little guys can't be having better matches than MVC. Nice show from a pure wrestling standpoint, but big mistakes were already being made in hindsight."

I was concerned that nothing but tag matches would grow old and tired by the halfway point, but there were actually a pretty diverse range of styles and match structures on offer here, plus nothing ran longer than it needed to, so the show had no difficulty holding my attention. The main event was a great match and definitely my choice for MOTN, but a couple of the undercard bouts were quite good as well. I'm also invested in the Simmons push towards the World Title and thought that segment was effective at setting the stage for his impending victory (controversial as the angle would be if it were to take place today). At only two hours with little filler between tournament matches, this was easy to watch, and a very enjoyable night of wrestling action."

[7.0] "Normally I'd get tired of a show that is all tag matches, but I actually found the NWA tag title tournament to be really fun. We are fully entrenched in Bill Watt's WCW and the new rulings but any matches with stakes towards NWA titles will have "NWA rules" so we didn't have to worry about the silly new rules on this show. Windham & Rhodes vs Anderson & Eaton was my favourite match of the night, while Nogami & Hase vs the Headhunters was my least favourite. The Silver Kings were great in the match they got. Steve Williams and Terry Gordy are also really good on this show, setting things in motion for a clash against the Steiner Brothers which ends up taking place at the end of this show in the only match to go past the first round."

[7.0] "This was a weird show for me to watch. It has only tag team matches and most of them are good to great, but random pairings like Benoit and Wellington and The Silver Kings appearing. Oh, and the O'Days. Omg, what a terrible couple of wrestlers. They spent most of the time advertising The Great American Bash when Beach Blast was in a few days time. WCW did some weird shit sometimes."

[7.0] "A very good show by WCW here, every match is worth watching save for the O'Days match which is mercifully short. Nothing particularly great outside of a suplex to the outside and an asai moonsault in the Liger/Pillman/Benoit/Wellington match, but a glance at the participants reads like a who's who of solid WCW workers from this time period. Even the no-name teams put on exciting, hard-hitting, and athletic matches. Some of the work is sloppy and there are a few botches, but nothing major and this spontaneity adds to the character of the Steiner and Williams/Gordy matches, especially the main event which has these two teams giving you what they do best, resulting in a very fun match. A good show for a Sunday afternoon and a few beers. The Ron Simmons interview features some unfortunate racial implications from Harley Race, but knowing that this angle culminates in Simmons winning the belt takes the sting out of it. Plus, Harley bumps like crazy for Simmons, who gets a good fire-up with the crowd 100% behind him."

[6.0] "It's a show that definitely feels incomplete in case you don't follow up by watching the PPV as well, as it literally just had the first round matches of the tournament. With that in mind, though, it was definitely an interesting show that gave some international talents a first chance to impress in a major wrestling company. Chris Benoit was by far the most impressive of the bunch, and he'd be brought back for a few more dates with WCW the next year before being eventually signed for a proper run in 1995. It's a different edition of WCW Clash and it's pretty good, all things considered."

[8.0] "Along with the following month's Great American Bash, this Clash formed the first part of a two-part Tag Team Tournament event. Several very good matches are here in the opening round, including Pillman & Liger vs Wellington & Benoit, Windham & Rhodes vs Arn & Eaton; other matches like Rude & Austin vs Bagwell & Zenk and Freebirds vs "Silver Kings" were solid, and even the squashes were fine showcases for the victors. There was also a good "main event" with the quarterfinals match between the Steiners and Williams & Gordy being bumped up to this event after the Steiners got a bye (due, by implication, to Williams and Gordy taking out their first-round opponents) that had some good heat to it and good tag action. For tag team aficionados, a very solid watch."

[7.0] "The tournament features very good tag teams, but it's only a qualification round, so there is no hype for a main event or a later fight. It's a chance to see in the same event teams from various regions of the world (Canada, Australia, Mexico, Japan). The final match between Steiners and Williams & Gordy is the best fight of the night."
