[8.0] "A geat show that feature many good moments. MJF and Danielson's rivalry it seems to start working with 2 amazing backstage promos and a good match with Brian Cage where they told a good story around Danielson's arm and Cage looked like a monster, I was expecting something more but still a good match tho. Happy to see Takeshita involved. All the other matches were decent or good, especially Allin vs. Matthews that was great match and now the TNT title looks important once again. Also Joe returning is great. The main event was great and very emotional: Jay Lethal is a fantastic wrestler and Briscoe delivered a great pefromance. Thank you TK for make this happen."

[7.0] "The starter of the night was pretty entertaining as Andretti & Guevara carried most of it with their great styles of action. However, the story is between Starks & Jericho, and it has seen little development ahead of Revolution which is fine. Darby's new open challenger was Buddy Matthews, who delivered a pretty good performance. Had the interferences been minimal, the action would have been better. The video package of Adam Cole's recovery was shot excellently with the words of the returning star targeting someone for a match at Revolution. The intrigue is building well & I sense another returning star/a major AEW debutant to step up & give the very best. JungleHook had a decent bout against Ethan/Hardy who have a less interesting, prolonged story even though the efforts are hard. Even The Acclaimed & The Gunns didn't gain much traction from their "therapy" session despite hard efforts. Third time was the charm as Danielson & Cage battled a really good fight where the latter was on top mostly although his experience as a dominant villain is less tested. Nonetheless, it catapulted the MJF/Danielson saga to a new standard and I'm excited to see how it goes. Soho & Storm had a fun sprinter which elevated the newly brewing story really well while the main event was an embodiment of a perfect fight w/right mix of emotions & offense. It was THE tribute for the heavenly Jay Briscoe & AEW pulled off a phenomenal task of making it happen in the right way. That main event & some of the great escalations of Revolution's possible matchups made this edition entertaining even though there were a few lulls from the roster. 7.5 out of 10 points!"

[6.0] "This Dynamite dropped a lot in terms of quality compared with the previous episodes. It was still solid but a little boring and with some matches that didn't add to anything. There wasn't also a good and impactful promo or segment. Of course the main event was beautiful, from entrances to the final segment (which gave me absolute chills). That match was awesome and Tony Khan should be congratulated for his way of honoring deserving people. In my opinion, AEW has a lot of qualities and is so good to the wrestling business, but even for people who don't like the company, there's no denial that they're a class act whenever it is about helping and honoring someone and are absolutely perfect at dealing with real-life tough situations ."

[6.0] "An improvement over last week's show overall. Darby has done a good job with the TNT title, even though he never gets any kind of actual story to work with. Danielson-Cage was a dissapointment. Main event was solid. RIP Jay Briscoe."

[9.0] "Another Dynamite that rocked hard, even if there is a world where Jay Briscoe is alive. Card was stacked and delivered for the most. All storylines are going pretty well, that's pretty cool."

[6.0] "A solidly good episode of Dynamite. Andretti & Starks vs Jericho & Sammy was alright. I still dislike Andretti being pushed as a sort of prodigy, but he admittedly has decent athleticism. Ricky was charismatic and energetic as usual, but Andretti was stupidly booked to overshadow him. Sammy was a detestable heel and impressively athletic, ending up as the best worker of the match. Jericho was schlubby and uncreative as usual. **3/4. The Jay Briscoe tribute video was great -- really touching stuff. Darby vs Matthews was pretty good. Murphy had the clear power/strength advantage, while Darby had the speed/agility/creativity advantage, and both played their respective styles very well. Darbys babyface-selling was very good, and Murphy likewise did well playing the arrogant and cold heel. Very good chemistry the whole way, too. ***1/4 - ***1/2. Joes post-match promo calling out Darby was really good. Ethan & Matt vs Hook & Perry was a bit dull. Hook and Perry were decent, and Ethan was fine, but Im not sure why we need Matt Hardy in 2023. **1/2. The Family Therapy segment with The Acclaimed and Gunns (incl. Billy) was short but decent. Not very funny but effective as storyline progression for explaining The Gunns motives. Pages backstage interview with Renee was typically lethargic, and then Yuta interrupted with his awfully nasally voice and wimpy delivery. Danielson vs Cage wasn't as exciting as Danielson's previous trial matches but it was still quite good. Danielson had good all-around technique (excluding a few slightly weak strikes) and good intensity as well. Cage was good with his powerhouse attacks, strength-displays, heel taunts, and general beatdown work. I still wish he didn't have so many 'indyriffic' leg-slap attacks, though. They had mostly really good chemistry the whole way. ***1/4. Cage and MJFs post-match attack was good, though Takeshitas save was underwhelming. Danielson's backstage promo proclaiming hell fight through his injury and dethrone MJF was really good for how fiery and determined he was. Ruby vs Toni was fine. Toni had good powerful and aggressive but she was at least pretty fiery. They unfortunately didn't have the best chemistry, though the distraction-roll-up finish was entertaining as a dig at Toni and Saraya being pro-WWE. **1/2. MJFs on-screen promo attacking Takeshita and Danielson was really good, with great delivery and hinting at some interesting storyline developments. Lethal vs Mark was pretty good but its been massively overrated due to the emotional component which, don't get me wrong, definitely did elevate the match, but definitely *not* into 9.00+ territory as it currently has. The match was well-worked, of course, featuring good energy and chemistry, with Marks offence and redneck character being quite entertaining, and Lethal was a good partner. The crowd rallying behind Mark was definitely touching, but this was only a good match and nothing more. ***1/4 - ***1/2"

[8.0] "Outside of the stuff involving Jay Briscoe which was fantastic especially the video package which is saying something since the match they had to honor him was really good, this was a fine Dynamite to me. The Danielson/MJF feud is really starting to pick up steam for me even if it just follows the same pattern as most MJF feuds. The Jay Briscoe stuff and the MJF/Bryan stuff was good enough for this show to be good at least, it also helps that most of the matches were solid although not good."
MaveDeltzer wrote on 27.01.2023:
[6.0] "Another match-heavy episode but a step down from the previous few for me. That's likely down to pacing issues, because there were several points throughout the show in which I felt things were going a little too long. Even the Danielson vs Cage match, which was by no means bad, had me zoning out at points and felt longer than it was. Ending with a nice tribute to Jay Briscoe (and a nice video package earlier in the episode) made this a bit more memorable but it was most of the other stuff before the main event which felt a little bland to me, especially compared to recent episodes of Dynamite."

thescottharris wrote on 27.01.2023:
[8.0] "This was a fairly mediocre episode until the main event hit. Without that main event, this week's show would have felt largely like a throwaway show. I know they couldn't change all of the card last minute to put out a better show since everything was advertised already, but you can't help but think with the increased viewership the show got that a strong overall card would have helped further increase the momentum they have had of late. But that maain event and everything that transpired afterwards really made up for a lot."

Matt Macks wrote on 26.01.2023:
[8.0] "Good show. The main event was strong and emotional and the rest of the matches were fine, but what made the show for me were the MJF and Danielson promos and the strong chemistry and work of the announce team. Storylines aside, the Jay Briscoe tribute video was heartbreaking."
gaycolumbo wrote on 26.01.2023:
[10.0] "Not the best 2 hours Dynamite has produced by any means but the Jay Briscoe video package and the Mark Briscoe/Jay Lethal main event are perfect, beautiful tributes that with stay with me forever and I'm so glad that there's a wrestling company that would fight for their wrestlers like that."
Derek Joists wrote on 26.01.2023:
[8.0] "A hard show to rate in many ways, mostly due to the focus being on the Jay Briscoe tribute. The rest of the show was pretty good, but nothing really stood out and isn't all that memorable writing the next day. But the tribute was beautifully done, and that's what matters."

[8.0] "PROS: The main event, just the whole thing was beautiful. Danielson vs Cage was a good David vs Goliath story with two excellent promos to follow up. Takeshita getting a prominent role in the title feud is cool too, and the opener was good too, if not a showcase of how influenced Action Andretti is by Will Ospreay. CONS: The family therapy session had a couple of nice lines but meh (and I swear if The Acclaimed drop the belts to The Gunns..........). Also, while not a bad match, little bit let down by Darby vs Buddy. OVERALL: 8/10, 4/5 whatever you want to call it, just go and watch that main event."

[10.0] "Sometimes the matches are there to distract us from the reality of the world. From the moment the main event was announced that's what everything leding up to it was. There is honestly no way to rate this because what happened in the ring was unimportant at the end of day. The see Mark carry the Briscoe name on national TV was so emotional. Hug your loved ones a little tighter. Never take life for granted. Reach for the Sky RIP Jay Briscoe."
Abiuwla22 wrote on 26.01.2023:
[9.0] "A very solid show, nice to see the 4 pilars of AEW getting some TV time at the same show. Also is good to see how AEW still push his younger talents with Stark, Andretti and Hook getting tv time. All what involved Jay Briscoe (Jamin Pugh) Celebration of Life was fantastic, the video package with footage of ROH and his personal life and then seeing both Mark and Lethal giving everything on the ring, to finally close the show with all the roster paying respects to Jay, simply magic. Thank you Jay Briscoe, youll always be remembered and loved, now go on and reach for the sky boy."

[10.0] "Let's get the bad out of the way first: I don't like music distraction finishes especially from babyfaces even if the heels tried to cheat earlier, even tho the womens match was solid. And I am intrigued by the angle of Britt making up with her old rivals to join forces vs these OGs. The good: Celebrating Jamin Pugh's life was awesome, and I am sure they will continue to honor his legacy on ROH and the show they recorded last week, other matches were solid to bangers, and the crowd was active all night. and MJF is back to not bullshitting any more, nice."
AtlasEarth wrote on 26.01.2023:
[9.0] "Another phenomenal show from AEW tonight. Hell, we even got big moments for all 4 pillars in JB, Sammy, Darby and MJF. Most of the matches tonight were pretty solid and while the promos and segments felt short and sparse, they did further quite a bit. The absolute highlight though was the Jay Briscoe tribute video using home and ROH footage as well as that emotional main event. Its matches like those that make me fully believe and accept that wrestling is an art form as much if not more than a sport and that is why I absolutely love it. Jay Lethal and Mark kept that crowd going and delivered as much as they could on a TV match. Ian and Caprice being on commentary only helped further. Absolute gut punch of a last quarter."
