Overall WWE Hell In A Cell (2019) despite some highs, is a really bad show thanks to it's awful lows."

[3.0] "Jinkies, this PPV is not good! Some context: Hell in a Cell 2019 only had three matches advertised, which were the opener, the tornado tag match, and the main event. This has led to a lot of fillers that you can easily find at a house show. Becky Lynch(c) vs Sasha Banks (****) - A good match to kick off the show! The ways these two try to torture each other is creative and fun to watch! The storytelling between these two are off the charts and the cell really adds to the intensity! Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns vs Erick Rowan and Luke Harper (****) - All four men in this match up did an excellent job! From playing into Daniel Bryan's size being a disadvantage to Rowan and Harper trying to take out Reigns and Bryan is well done! Roman Reigns actually did a great job in this match! Although the only caveat is that the story for this match is off. Ali vs Randy Orton (***) - This match didn't bring anything special to the table, but it wasn't bad either. The main highlight was Ali's counter to the RKO. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross vs the Kabuki Warriors (**) - This was an unforgettable tag team match and it felt more like something on an episode RAW than a PPV. The ending was nice. Braun Strowman and the Viking Raiders vs The OC (*) - This was really a run-of-the-mill six-man tag match that is found at house shows. Nothing exciting happens and worst of all, when the action starts to get interesting it ends with a DQ. Chad Gable vs King Corbin (**) - The Shorty G angle is one of the worst things to come out of WWE of all time. Aside from the terrible story, the action isn't terrible, but Chad is trying way too hard to carry this match. Bayley(c) vs Charlotte Flair (**) - Bayley and Charlotte Flair can put on a better match than this. At least, there was some effort to plant the seeds for Bayley's eventual heel turn, but other than that nothing exciting. The Fiend vs Seth Rollins(c) (DUD) - Absolute mess of a match! There's so many things wrong with it, but I'll point out the obvious: The Fiend comes off as overpowered while Seth (The top babyface at the time) comes off as too weak. The Fiend no-sold ELEVEN Curb Stomps! ELEVEN! That is absolutely ridiculous! The commentary was bad and the DQ finish was salt to the wound. Is this the worst PPV of all time? Absolutely not, but its definitely bad! Other than the first three matches, the show is a chore to watch and the main event is historic for ruining both Seth Rollins and the Fiend."

But then this show just falls off a cliff. Like man is it bad after those first three, the matches are just nothing burger matches with no build or anything, just put on the card to fill time because they didn't book shit for this show. And of course there is the all time worst main event. I was at the show live and that crowd booed for a solid 5 minutes or more (can't remember exactly) and it was so bad."

After that the standards start slipping, the 6 man added very little, charlotte and bayley had another disappointing match and then we got the main event. The fiend stuff stopped working for me once he actually became supernatural but the match gets 2 points, 1 for how much effort Rollins put into it and another as I liked the storyline in theory of Rollins having to find the darkest place to beat the fiend but it was dreadfully executed."

[3.0] "Overall, this was an absolute disaster with only a few saving graces. The first two matches were fantastic, with the opener being the match of the night. The next two matches were both solid, and the finish to the womens tag was really great. The RKO counter by Ali was also really great. Then it all went to hell, with a really mediocre six man tag that had no place on a PPV card. The finish was also terrible. Gable and Corbin had a fine match but it absolutely paled in comparison to their fantastic KotR match. Charlotte and Bayley had a decent match but definitely not their best work together. Charlotte winning made me mad back then but in hindsight it was the right call as it was the catalyst for Bayley's heel turn. Then we get to the disastrous main event. Absolutely horrible. Finisher spamming from Rollins, no selling from Wyatt, a wretched pace, and probably the worst finish to a match ever in WWE. Had a few high points, but the low points were so awful they overshadow the good stuff. Watch the first four matches and then stop watching."

It's a 5/10 show."

[3.0] "Let's start with the fact that only 4 matches were announced for this show up until 1 hour before they went live where they announced them in bulk. None of the matches they added had any substantial build and were obvious fillers. Anyways, the opening match was an Awesome match. Out of the Four Horsewomen, Becky & Sasha have the best chemistry together. It was all action from start to finish with some really innovative and brutal spots. While I disagree with the finish I am not totally opposed. Sasha sold and bumped her ass off. The crowd was hot for the entirety. (****1/2) //// Daniel/Roman vs Rowan/Harper was a really great brawl. Bludgeon brothers dominated the first half but following a nasty looking spear Daniel and Roman made a great comeback. (***3/4) //// Ali vs Orton was a filler. Orton, of course, went over but this somewhat just felt like a tv bout. Nice finish. (***) //// Kabuki Warriors vs Bliss/Cross was yet another spur of the moment match announcement. Again, a typical TV match. The green mist spot was cool. That's all. (**3/4) //// The 6 man tag wasn't even a TV level match it was as if I was watching a house show. 0 reaction from the crowd because who gives a shit? (**1/2) //// Gable vs Corbin was good, better than their KOTR final match. Both men looked good. But for the love of god can we stop with the short jokes? (***) /// Bayley/Charlotte i honestly don't even recall so I won't rate. //// The main event... boy oh boy... I think previous commentors have pretty much summed it up. This is already too lengthy so. Besides the shit finish the match itself was bland. (-*)"

The second half of the tornado tag match was also good, whilst I also personally enjoyed seeing Asuka and Kairi win the tag belts; Orton vs Ali was also decent. After that though, the show took a turn for the worse with everything else on the show being pretty difficult to sit through, with Corbin vs Gable feeling double its length and the main event being a colossal failure, as it not only hurt both guys, but the aura of the match stipulation as well."

[3.0] "To mention the good first, Becky vs. Sasha was a very good Cell match by any account, and a possible entry to the list of best WWE women's matches of 2019. The card did feature some other positives as well; notably Bryan/Reigns vs. Rowan/Harper, Orton vs. Ali and Charlotte vs. Bayley being solid bouts. Overall it was hard to shake the feeling that this was a filler PPV, though, without much thought put into it (only four matches being announced in advance being case in point). As to the infamous finish of the main event, it was dumb, but WWE basically booked them into a corner - the Fiend never should have been in title contention this early anyway, and if he had to be, the match never should have been in a Cell match. Given the circumstances, there really was no satisfactory way out of the match, and it simply becomes another illustration of the continuing main-roster creative issues."

[6.0] "Unfortunately, one of the best women's matches of 2019 will be massively overshadowed and probably mostly forgotten due to what is quite possibly the worst PPV ending in WWE history. The first two matches, plus a couple cool things in the third and fourth matches, are why I'm not rating this PPV much lower. On to the matches: Lynch/Banks was great and IMO was, like I said, one of the best women's matches this year (****1/2). I thought The Tornado tag match was great too, and the right team won (****). Orton/Ali was pretty good, and featured a really good-looking RKO-counter by Ali which even Orton put over on Twitter after the fact (***1/4). The women's tag titles changing hands to the rarely-used Kabuki Warriors was pretty random, but it was a decent match that had a cool throwback-style ending (***). The six man tag wasn't much to talk about, although not bad (**1/2). Gable/Corbin went too long, but I'm happy any time Corbin loses (**3/4). Flair/Bayley was okay, and the title change surprised me (**3/4). I can't say anything about the main event that hasn't been said already. WWE should be ashamed of themselves for booking that utter garbage (DUD)."

Most matches results are counterintuitive, but they were fun to watch and that meant the most to me, as Chad Gable, Ali, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins all got their shot at looking formidable, the opener was one of the best women's match I can remember and the bizarre main event entertained me and I tought both guys looked like they surpassed their limits in a way and crafted one of the most unique match in history. The DQs and default Charlotte Flair championship vanity reign were very annoying, but otherwise I will be one of those who says that they enjoyed the show and feel the outrage is exagerrated and lacks hindsight, in my humble opinion."

I was hoping Harper and Rowan would win but oh well. The event got a bit quiet after that obviously announcing only 4 matches before show day didn? t do the show any good. I enjoyed Charlotte vs Bailey. I honestly loved the main event. It was different, asked questions and was straight up odd. I loved the lighting and the character work it did on both Rollins and Wyatt. I guess in this day and age of wrestling it is a risky move to pull something like that. It was never going to be a technical masterpiece. It wasn? t built up that way. For me it will remain memorable for the story that was told. Not the backlash it received afterwards."

[6.0] "Wasn't even gonna dignify the discourse this time but seeing somebody say this makes December To Dismember look like Summerslam 2002 is insulting, real goldfish memory stuff. I'm not a Raw watcher, I'm not brainwashed by Vince. I only watch their PPVs and I watch with as open a mind as I'll approach AEW or anything. No territorial speak here. This is better than many 2017 WWE shows, such as Battleground (that's what a worst of all time candidate show looks like). Though it certainly wasn't good, the bitter-taste factor of the main event is dictating this rating and not the match-to-match quality. So, the first two matches kicked quite a lot of ass. Becky and Sasha put the memory of the underwhelming first women's cell to bed, then just a super fun WWE tag between one of their best teams and two of their best singles stars. The show begins to fall off here, but primarily because they only pre-booked 4 matches. This show's not called Mystery Vortex so I don;t know why they thought they could get away with that, clearly they are so concerned with current TV they forgot they had a PPV. None of this stuff was great but none was bad either, most of it pretty solid and things like Ali/Orton gave us a memorable finish. Gable/Corbin also surprisingly fun, as I'd not seen their TV matches Now the main event. It was not good, but I'm detached enough from WWE's booking I had an absolute blast with this. E-fedding meets video game selling meets WCW brainchild. Rollins looking like the loser of the century, the hilarious finish. I got so much joy from it If you can't laugh at that match, if it pissed you off legitimately, sincerely stop watching wrestling. It's bad for you. Same for when they'll throw in Brock as MITB winner or whatever, just have a damn laugh at it. Sure, this match sucked pretty objectively but the way to handle that isn't by posting 0/10 reviews in floods of tears. The decent matches were decent, the shit-show was a laugh riot. I had a good night. The end."

[4.0] "If you play it backwards this might be a good PPV. It's just that the main event was so horridly booked that it was actually damaging for the company. Becky Lynch (c) -vs- Sasha Banks - (WWE RAW Women's Title; Hell In A Cell) [*** 1/2] The best match on the show! Might not have been the most organic match ever produced (for that's nearly impossible in this company), coming across a little too rehearsed, but they executed the plan to near perfection! A very pleasant surprise where both ladies came out looking good. Daniel Bryan & Roman Reigns -vs- Erick Rowan & Luke Harper - (Tornado Match) [*** 1/4] I certainly didn't expect this match to be as fun as it was, but they gave it their all for a match with barely any build-up. Brutal and full on fight. Good to see Rowan & Harper together again, and the team of Bryan & Reigns was actually a great pair. Randy Orton -vs- Ali [**] Had one thing to communicate. Ali finding a counter to Orton's RKO. All for nothing as Orton landed the RKO on the next move instead, leaving the whole exercise pointless. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross (c) -vs- Asuka & Kairi Sane - (WWE Women's Tag Title) [** 1/4] Good to see the Kabuki girls get the spotlight in this manner. Mist rules! Braun Strowman & Erik & Ivar -vs- AJ Styles & Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows [* 1/2] Standard mid-card RAW match on a PPV, with a screwy TV finish too. Chad Gable -vs- King Corbin [* 1/4] Gable was okay, but this was a bore. Guess whose fault that was? Bayley (c) -vs- Charlotte Flair - (WWE SmackDown Women's Title) [* 3/4] The show went downhill since the first two matches, and there was nothing this match could do to stop that trend. At least it was passable. Seth Rollins (c) -vs- The Fiend - (WWE Universal Title; Hell In A Cell) [*] They killed Rollins' finisher dead with The Fiend no-selling about a 10 of them. They killed the Hell in a Cell gimmick with the finish, whatever it was. And they killed the hope of most of the fans"

However, I think they should scrap the HIAC PPV and reduce the PPV amount down to 8 or 10 a year. [3.0] "This was basically a one match show on paper, with a couple of rematches and other matches that weren't even announced before the PPV. Becky vs Sasha was in the cell because... well, because the PPV is named Hell in a Cell, there was no other reason for it. Bryan & Roman vs Rowan & Harper was a decent match, even though the feud doesn't make any sense at all, and has changed every week since it began. Kabuki Warriors finally won the titles after a good match, with Asuka using the green mist, which came outta nowhere. Most of the other matches were just there to fill the time, and it felt like I was watching a random episode of RAW. The main event is the reason why so many people gave this PPV only 1 star, and also in my opinion why less and less people watch WWE every week. During the match, the Fiend was cheered heavily, with Seth being booed like Roman used to in the past. After doing what looked like one thousand Curb Stomps on the Fiend, Seth continued to hit the guy with every weapon he could find, which is fine, because it's a Hell in a Cell match, and there is no DQ, right? Right? Except the ref called it a no contest. Even though the Fiend was good to go and could continue just a minute later, they didn't restart the match. Needless to say, beating the living hell out of the most popular guy on the roster and ending the only match people wanted to see in a no contest caused the crowd to go crazy with booing, chant for AEW and demand refunds. Overall a very bad show, that would be rated low even if they didn't screw up the main event, but because they did, I expect it to be rated as the worst PPV of the year."

The rest of the show up until the main event ranged from 1 star to about 3 (Women's tag match was a 3 from me), and the main event was... goodness, what can be said? Okay, pros and cons: Pros: The Fiend looked really strong. Maybe even too strong. Cons: 1. You didn't see much due to the match being shown in black and red, and 2. EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED TO SETH ROLLINS ON THIS NIGHT! This was the worst kind of Monster Heel vs Underdog Babyface Champion match you will ever see. Rollins' victory over Brock Lesnar is now a paper tiger. His finishers are reduced to scoop slams and hip tosses in affect. His championship reign is a heel storyline attached to a babyface. This is not something you can get behind. Which is depressing when you consider how much of a workhorse Seth has been to get back into that spot. Also... a DQ in a HITC match... may this never happen again."

[4.0] "Okay... it will be difficult, but Ill try to rate HIAC honestly, because just like everyone else, I'm furious with this ending. Becky/Sasha - best match on the show by far. Everything else resemble me a prolonged mediocre weekly RaW or SmackDown. Tornado Tag Team Match - just okay, in fact this is any Reigns's PPV tag match over the last 5 years. Orton/Ali was okay for a randomly appearing match in a card with a terribly predictable ending. Like, TVquality. Kabuki Warriors wins Tag Titles - great moment and a great ending to a painfully mediocre match. Six Man Tag Match - TVquality, again. Terrible ending with pointless disqualification. War Raiders and AJ Styles was good, though. Gable/Corbin - boring sight with another stupid ending and a painful continuation of a feud, the essence of which is in childish jokes about height. Charlotte is a new women's champion - ahhh, give me a break! She even doesnt need this title! Bayley has just begun to demonstrate character development! Stop giving Charlotte titles constantly, this is just annoying by now! And a main event... oh, God... To be honest, I even enjoyed it for some time... for first three to four minutes. Then, instead of letting Wyatt dominate, most of the time only Seth was in attack, which makes whole The Fiend thing pointless. The ending worthy of last years HIAC, just killed me. What was the point of stopping the match after hit by a sledgehammer when it was allowed to use weapons inside the cage? What was the point of playing drama with Seth Rollins, when we all know that a man who betrayed his brothers from the Shield and smashed Ambrose's head with a brick is quite capable of something like that? If you really wanted to end this match with no contest, why wouldn't you stop it after what Wyatt did? This would not fix the problem with the audience, but that would make much more sense, given the broadcasting policy of WWE and age ratings! I dont know what else to say... I just dont want to watch WWE anymore"

[4.0] "Hell in a Cell suffered from not enough relevant matches. Only 3 matches were announced and two matches didn't have any background before the PPV. The highlight was by far the opener match. It's easily the best match of Becky's reign. Some other good matches suffered extremely from this dead crowd. Gable vs Corbin was very good, better than their second match. The Women's Tag Team match was surprisingly good and I love the new attitude of the Kabuki Warriors, unfortunately that's the only way they've found to let them talk in Japanese without ignorant crowds. Bryan & Roman vs Rowan & Harper was solid. Great finish, but Rowan seemed to be very irritated at the beginning. The Six Men was just random and unnecessary - they can't tell me that they're not reproducing Big Show's career for Strowman. Orton vs Ali was only struggling due to the randomness and it felt difficult to feel invested. But other than that a good match with a great finish. The result of Flair vs Bayley is negatively surprising, but the draft may be the reason. And well, the main-event had only very few ways to end acceptable. This was one of the least acceptable ways. The choice of atmosphere was great. The constant no-selling and repeating the finisher over and over again was just unnecessary. The Fiend doesn't need that to appear superior. Disqualifying Rollins in a Hell in a Cell match at the same show where Sasha's Banks Statement with a kendo-stick was choking Becky seems just nonsensical. Until they really try to kill somebody, the tolerance should reflect the "anything goes" statement. Overall it's one of the weakest PPVs of this year, but it's definitely not as bad as it is displayed here."

Orton v Ali was quite simply terrible, these two have no rivalry and absolutely no chemistry. The women's tag was actually quite good, Nikki did a lot of good work and Alexa's contributions were kept to things she does really well. Asuka using the mist was a nice touch. 6-man tag was a dud and another that doesn't belong anywhere near a PPV. AJ, one of the few absolute superstars in WWE, is made to look a mug to promote a Tyson Fury vs Strowman segment! We'd seen everything Cable and Corbin had to offer before, another dud. Charlotte vs Bayley was very poor. Finally, the big main event. The only positive was the return of weapon headshots to WWE. The rest was baffling, The Fiend just is not worthy of invincible status, where does he go from here? With AEW going for wrestling with "realism" this match could only ever work as a turn off. Has cartoon wrestling ever worked? Overall, Sasha's work in the opener, Asuka's mist and the headshots get one point each."

Overbooking, overacting, no-sense. Since when a Hell in a Cell Match ends by DQ or no Contest? This is a complete bullsh*t! There is a Raw season premier, Smackdown on Fox, pyros are back but WWE is still the same boring predictable show. Vince McMahon lost his touch many years ago."

Sasha vs Becky (****) Bryan & Roman vs Rowan & Harper (***1/2) Orton vs Ali (***) women? s tag match (***) 6-man Tag (**2/3) Gable vs Corbin (***1/2) Flair vs Bayley (***) Fiend vs Seth (****) some wrestling fans are the worst and I? m convinced that some enjoy complaining about wrestling more than watching it."

I've found that HIAC is actually one of the most consistent B-shows the company runs every year, with a majority-positive card and at least one great Cell match. This year, only that second one. I loved the Raw Women's title match even though Sasha not winning is actually dumb, particularly if Becky is gonna end up on SmackDown anyway (which would be shocking to me if she doesn't, with how important she is to the advertising. ) There were a couple other 'okay' matches but nothing worth talking about or remembering tomorrow. But then the main event. Oh god the main event. It makes last year's debacle look like it makes sense (at least it had a very stupid precedent. ) It was way too soon to pull the trigger on The Fiend, and they knew it, and they did it anyway. It felt like the death of the entire gimmick. What's the point of the match if you can be DISQUALIFIED? Every show since WrestleMania (which I mostly rather liked) has been disappointing at best, but nothing's been THIS bad."

There was a large array of matches that were made at the last minute that the majority of fans did not care about. I didn't enjoy the ending of the Sasha/Becky match though it was an awesome match, I just felt like Sasha losing two times after coming back being built up as a big heel, and then crying after losing was just a terrible idea. Charlotte winning the SD Women's Title was made because FOX wanted it. I was disappointed that the cell was once again red this year. It's very distracting and looks like it's made of Twizzlers. The finish to the Rollins/Wyatt (Fiend) Hell In A Cell Match is one of the worst finishes I've ever seen in a wrestling match. I've never heard of DQ inside of a Hell In A Cell Match until tonight, and honestly, why would you have that? Makes no sense and killed the match for me. What also makes no sense is why would a medical team be dispatched to help out The Fiend who is supposed to be an entity of evil? Just a lazy, last second show put together by WWE. Looks like AEW will get some new fans."

After what seemed like a great start this show nose dived off a cliff with one of the most ridiculous main event endings ever seen, a DQ in a match with no disqualifications is an absolute insult to us fans. the middle of the card is just boring and repetative crap we've already seen on RAW the last several weeks. Watch Becky vs. Sasha then turn the rest of the show off as its not worth your time. I've given the show a 3 just for them."

And like last year they had to fuck up the main event by once again ending a Hell in a Cell match, not with a no contest this time but, with a DQ, crowd was furious, refund chant and AEW chant in the building Bray Wyatt was booed heavily, Rollins was booed heavily. But I'll say that I laugh during the whole main event because the booking was so bad."
