Cole & Baker against Cassidy & Stalander was entertaining, King and Black's tag debut was great shit as well and Darby and Sting had again the time of their lifes. Mox's return was clearly the highlight. An inspirational beast. Cody's promo was great."

Cody's was kind of weird but I think I liked it' I had absolutely no problem with the squashes, if anything I wanted one more, Archer vs. Kaz could have easily been a squash. I cheered in my living room when Spears got beat in seconds, I was really dreading a long drawn out match."

[3.0] "Have missed a week or two of Dynamite but I could definitely have gone without seeing this week's installment. So little stuff worth watching (that wasn't a whole bunch of squashes anyway). Main Event was best match, but even that was not especially great. Darby being Pillmanized before the bell, only to completely no-sell it a few minutes later and come back out all guns blazing was something I'd not seen since WCW's ridiculous injury angles. Excalibur not helping matters much by saying that Darby was feeling the effects of the attack earlier, when he clearly wasn't. The opener was the next best match, but this was just a big game of 'keep away' and went too long for what it was, and had way too many false finishes. Everything else was just squashes, thought Archer looked pretty bad against Kaz, almost blown up. I guess Cody's promo was pretty good, didn't much care for Moxley's, it just seems standard fare. Promos don't make a Wrestling show though imho."

[7.0] "It feels fantastic to see Mox back where he belongs & in astonishing shape after revitalizing him from the dark. His promo shed a light on that dark side of a commoner's life & he ushered us with high enthusiasm with his promo that was magnificent. Warrior Mox! The opener was a fun-filled match with everything working right & sound - the comedic work, the action, the drama & the reactions. All were placed well and it was fluidic enough to entertain. Punk vs Spears was a surprise considering the hype Spears created last week but it added a layer on the Punk/MJF feud that favors the former. Cody returned with another solid promo here. I know that he went all over the place & pulled out the rival references and stuff but whatever he told was a subtle form of conveying the truth and I enjoyed it. House of Black is in full effect & the build to their clash against Death Triangle is ought to be massive! Archer had an extended squash that really hurt the expected momentum Archer needed considering Kazarian's state in AEW & the match flow. Serena had another squash which was enjoyable here while the main event was a good paced match & filled with nice spots done by Sting which is surprising. I appreciate him and will do until he's done. Extra perks to the build to this week's Rampage, next week's Beach Break as well as the future plans like Team Taz vs Team Dante, Andrade & Matt Hardy's alliance etc. Another week of Dynamite where the storylines had a very good to great development while the match quality is a rare miss."

[3.0] "This is one of those episodes where I'm left confused at what the goal of AEW is supposed to be. It's not great matches, because you didn't get any here. The promos are better than the competition for sure, but you only get one great promo (from Moxley.) Mostly though, you get a bunch of squash matches, which I'm okay with, but then the one match that actually should have been a squash (Archer vs. Kazarian) goes on way too long. I'm torn on the Cody stuff. His delivery is confident, even when dealing with heckling fans, and he comes across as passionate, but he's occasionally too "insider" for his own good. As someone who doesn't watch his reality show or follow his personal life, I was baffled by his statement about him and Ricky Starks being friends, which has never been brought up on television as far as I'm aware of. There's also been no mention of Bryan Danielson for the past two weeks on any of AEW's programs. AEW has this bad habit of having guys randomly disappear for weeks (sometimes months) on end with no explanation, but it's even more jarring when it's one of their biggest stars. As a fan, I'm wondering why should I tune in to the program or buy tickets to the live event when my favorites aren't even on the show."

[6.0] "Not all that interesting as far as the matches go, but Moxley came back looking leaner (and younger) and cut the promo of his life, and I thought Cody's promo was very good, too, even if it's true that he goes a bit meta sometimes and can take too many turns to reach his point. Not sure if those chants were piped in but there was a "Cody" chant there. Moxley promos never tend to feel long and though Cody's promos sometimes do, he's like an experienced lecturer talking about a subject he knows very well. He doesn't falter or get lost no matter how the audience interjects (and they were a little rude during this promo). Opener was okay, didn't really like the main event, but we have a few things to look forward to now which look quite interesting on paper."

[9.0] "Best episode of dynamite I've seen in awhile. Moxely's promo to start of the show was the best part of the show, and an early contender for promo of the year. The rest of the show actually managed to hold my attention for the whole show. Cody's promo was a bit weird, but I'm in the minority it seems since most people I've seen talk about it seemed to like it. Sting continues to impress and blow everyone's expectations out of the water"

[9.0] "A great dynamite that was carried by promo segments. Jon Moxley's return was an all-time great Dynamite moment. The raw emotion and sharing of vulnerabilities was fantastic. The opening mixed tag match was a fun affair that kept me interested. CM Punk's quick squash of Spears was great and helps get the MJF-Punk story back on track. The Kings of The Black Throne had a good debut. The entrance was excellent, Brody and Malakai look great together. Brian Pillman being psychologically affected by Malakai's previous victory over him was a nice detail. The camera angle should've captured both the Brody pin and Malakai's pose better. The post-match segment was great, PAC has some of the highest quality promo videos in pro wrestling as a whole. This storyline could go multiple ways, but a Malakai vs. PAC match seems certain. Lance Archer vs. Frankie Kazarian went on way too long. It made Archer look weak and hurt his credibility as a challenger for the world title. Hangman continues to get huge reactions and helped make this whole segment less painful with his appearance. Serena Deeb continues looking strong and could be a great challenger for either title. The Hardy family office seems to finally have some direction with this new Andrade leadership. However this Andrade/Sting storyline needs some more movement. The Cody Rhodes promo seems to be getting very mixed responses. I enjoyed it but I can see it being interpreted as too meta. The decision to have a ladder match seems rather odd. A special stipulation match should've been saved for an actual enemy of Cody rather than between 2 faces. The main event was solid with the highlights being Caster's pre-match rap, Darby's focused recklessness, and Sting doing a big dive. It was a match to send the fans home happy. Overall this was a Dynamite where the promos and backstage segments outshined the actual matches. Jon Moxley, Orange Cassidy, The Kings of The Black Throne, PAC, and Sting really stood out to me in this episode. The score would be higher if the matches were of higher quality."

[3.0] "A very poor Dynamite wrestling wise. Opener was definitely MOTN however even that had a lot of weak points like a wedged in table spot and the usual over powered spots where people shouldn't be getting back up. Punk match was to further the rivalry so i didn't mind it. House Of Black was just two squah the poor varsity blondes. The Archer match should have been a squash match to show he is a monster when fighting page.....so obviously it ran long. Deeb just destroyed Skye and the Main was just a slow meh kind of a match"
Matt Macks wrote on 20.01.2022:
[7.0] "Another solid and enjoyable episode that focussed more on storyline progression and character development than showstopping action. The best match was the opener, but the best segment is a toss up between Mox's promo, Cody's promo or PAC's promo. All of those were great and interesting to me. I particularly loved the attentive silence when Mox spoke (after the initial heckler was shut up), a really great moment."

"Mixed Tag's are usually more miss than hit but I actually enjoyed the mixed tag between Best Friends and Britt Baker/Adam Cole. Punk vs Spears was what it was, great intro to establish Kings of The Black Throne.Lance Archer vs Spears could've been a tad shorter to make Lance look stronger. Deeb's run so far has been pretty fun wonder which title she will go after since both current champs are heels' Main Event tag was good fun. Overall enjoyable show."

Derek Joists wrote on 20.01.2022:
[6.0] "A good show overall, with Moxley's opening promo the clear highlight. It was missing one absolutely killer match that could have made it a great show, and Cody's nonsense also dragged it down. There were also too many squash matches - each of them made sense with the story but it might have been better to save at least one for Rampage."

House of Black looked amazing and the PAC setup was great. Loved both the Page/Archer pretape and also the post-match. Trent being nice to Cutler, Ethan Page's promo. Plenty of trash stuff too, hate that Sammy's cards are back."

[5.0] "It wasn't a great show for sure, but not that bad either. It feels like they are dragging some stories and buying some time for a better show. What I liked: - Mox promo was top notch. Authentic, no garbage, straight-forward and a lot of emotions were mixed in there. - House of Black was dominant and very good presented. I'm curious where the story with PAC will go and I do kinda hope that PAC maybe joins him in some sort of way. I don't get what is the deal with Julia Hart at all. What I disliked: - I didn't understand Cody's promo. Like I got the references and all, but I felt that it went nowhere. - All of the matches were predictable. - Adam Cole/ Orange Cassidy is repetitive as hell. Same finish, same outcome, same moves.. - Eddie Kingston and Chris Jericho feud is a weird story. Like why are they even fighting if they had the common enemy' Seems childish from both sides to make it personal from there.. - Lance & Dan Lambert alliance is stupid af, since not long ago they were in a some sort of feud. Overall I feel like AEW has no surprise element, no big turns of events or twist that make you say: WOW! I get that they put a lot of work in character development, but a lot of stories seems bland and without a direction or a purpose like Adam Cole vs OC."

[9.0] "A truly great Dynamite after a long time. While the matches have been good in the past episodes, this episode saw a lot of storylines move forward. The promos from Cody and Mox were 10/10 and were absolutely must see. The only weak part of the show was the audience, but that too was a case of a few bad apples."
NoSell wrote on 20.01.2022:
[7.0] "I liked almost everything out of the ring but what I like more about wrestling is uhhhh the wrestling itself and this episode didn't really have any great matches which is kind of inexcusable at this point with how stacked the roster is. TK has to stop holding on to matches and just book them. Mixed Tag easily MOTN. Amazing to see Mox back and looking so great and healthy, love the guy."

[8.0] "This episode broke out of Dynamite's typical structure, featuring a lot more promos and less time spent between the ropes. Assuming this is a one-off, it was a refreshing change of pace that enlivened all proceedings, and made the matches that did go long consequently feel more important. Moxley's return promo was passionate and intense - the same could also be said for Cody's, although it took a lot more convoluted twists and turns to reach that point. The opening mixed tag was awesome. While I think the finish was a little weak, Baker and Statlander have fantastic chemistry and I'd happily see them wrestle each other in any circumstances. Punk-MJF continues to be an enjoyably unpredictable feud. Archer-Kazarian was a surprisingly strong match, with each man excelling in their heel and babyface roles respectively. Skye Blue simply isn't ready for national TV, and she made Deeb's offence look worse than it normally does. The main event was fun - I think Sting maybe got too much offence in, but that might just be an emotional reaction based on how incredibly funny and entertaining The Acclaimed were all night. This programme has absolutely cemented them as bona fide stars and whilst it makes sense for them to lose here, I hope they continue to be placed in the top spots in AEW, because they've shown that they absolutely belong at that level."

Cody delivers one of the most intense and meta promos I have seen, and I get that some people only expect "I want to fight, I am tough" promos, but man was this Godly. Finally, a great opener, a nice main event AND the best short match I have seen in a while with the Kings of the Black Throne."

The storylines went well and everything was fine except for Main Event which was a good match but not on Dynamite main event level."

[3.0] "Seriously, AEW needs to figure what they want to do because these shows mean nothing. You can skip Dynamite these days and not miss much. Too many squashes to improve someones Win/Loss ratio, it's just boring. Mox promo was good, PAC's segment was good, opener was OK. Everything else is skippable. Oh, and Cody's promo was terrible, someone tell that man "No" once in a while..."

[3.0] "Second awful Dynamite in a row this week. The card for this show looked alright on paper but the booking is awful. 3 squash matches (4 if you count Archer/Frankie) on Dynamite is unheard of. The opener was really good and the rest was just kind of bad. CM Punk squashes Shawn Spears in 12 seconds LMAO. The Dante/Lee/Sydal promo was so bad. There was way too much talking and none of it was good except for Moxley's awesome return promo. Cody's promo was one of the worst promo's I have ever heard. Just a complete mumbling mess that served no purpose and made me hate him even more than I already did. House of Black looked good in their tag match and Black finally has purpose again which is nice. Women's squash was fine I guess. Main event was mediocre. Overall this show was wretched and I nearly fell asleep during Cody's promo as well as Archer/Kazarian. Next week's show looks promising at least, but this show was atrocious."

Opening mixed tag was solid. But the promos/talking segments I found myself being quite into. God it's great to have Mox back, dropping an F bomb on TBS, within five seconds of him being in the ring again. Him going on a babyface run should be awesome. or who knows maybe he'll go heel and challenge for the title sometime soon. Man not to mention Cody's promo was really great too. The only match I really found myself not caring about too much was the Archer match. I'm looking forward to Friday's Rampage with the card looking pretty good right now."
