They are pulling together a great roster of indy talent to feature, shows have been well paced. My biggest gripe is the commentary is often very lacking, but that is also one of my only gripes. Very interested to see where this promotion goes, but my early impression is this is a good place for some very good graps." |

I was aware of AEW as soon as they announced Double or Nothing 2019, and that was one hell of a PPV. At long last we found a competitor/alternative for WWE since 2001. Fast forward to 2026 - yes, I knew this would happen. I still hear people saying that AEW is the best promotion in North America, that they have the best matches and wrestlers, and that their product is high quality. No, respectfully, but no. I'd like to differ with total honesty. Since 2022 I've noticed cracks and issues within their organization and the more I looked and investigated it the more I realized that they have a lot to account for, and I haven't seen any solution to the matter - the biggest of which involves their identity. Yes, identity - NJPW has strong style because they believe in having legit and real matches, AJPW (and by extension, NOAH) have King's Road because they believe in long-term story telling and a patient build up that explodes with a cathartic climax. This is not the case with AEW, who are suffering the same fate as Ring of Honor and any other indie promotion out there - and that is that they have no distinctive style of wrestling that separates them from the rest of the promotions; they are the same as everyone else, but on a larger financial scale. Their matches are literally thrown in and are either hardcore, silly or wannabe Puro Lite, and unfortunately also overrated. If I were less merciful than I am today I would say they are, regrettably, slop, too... which some of their matches are, 60 to 75% of the time. So how do they solve this issue? They need a style of wrestling that combines realism (grappling, submission moves and real-life aspects/personas from the wrestlers), dramatic spots (that not only make sense regarding the workers of the match, but also the rivalry/story behind that specific moment, take for example the Tiger Suplex on 03/01/03, it makes sense because Kobashi drove Misawa to limits unknown to himself, and knowing that the former could win, he needed to step things up and stop him, so he suplexed him from the ramp to the floor), and an infectious wrestling idea that drives the wrestlers insane: Being Elite, finding perfection in their own way but also being at the tip of the parabola and never going to the other side, meaning that the need for a gimmick is not necessary and they would drive each other nuts as the time limit for a title match is drawing its end. And while Tony Khan's relationship with his wrestlers is better than Vince McMahon's (and the rest of WWE), he needs to understand that hardcore matches usually involve flirting with death, and while it sounds cool, it really means that they are seconds away from tragedy. Therefore, they need to get rid of it. Not to mention, the roster. I like some of the wrestlers, but I feel that the locker room is bloated and it needs to thin out. And they also need to get rid of Collision, as I find it unnecessary and it reminds me of WCW Thunder. This is me scraping the iceberg, but you can see the issues that stem from this promotion, and I hope that Tony Khan realizes this and works on it right away. Not for immediate solutions but for those that would help the promotion in the long run. 6/10 is my score for AEW." |

For example, people highlight the speed and intensity of the matches, but I just feel that there isn't enough variety for my taste. I find a similar wrestling layout, but better matches overall in Mexico, specifically CMLL. Speaking of which, I see that very few of their wrestlers get to showcase their talents in other companies; I feel that shows Dragon Gate doesn't trust its wrestlers. I respect anyone who watches this and truly hope they enjoy it, but I just don't see the overall appeal." |

STARDOM has some of the best joshi wrestlers in the world but in the past year has made some incredibly weird creative decisions. Hanan and STARS is the most recent idea that had a lot of discourse, it almost felt like they were brushing Queen's Quest and its history under a rug. The World Of Stardom belt has been shuffled around since Saya Kamitani lost it in her hi6.87storic reign and the booking of your most popular wrestler in Saya Kamitani has been poor from a narrative sense. I would say the company peaked aesthetically and with its roster in 1996-2004. That feeling was never matched again, despite the company putting out quality matches and rivalries afterwards. The roughest patch was 2010-2022. That's very general and does not apply to (most) of the NXT division, but that's when the company began to get stale and watered down. Once competition had died for a while, they put less effort into the programming, and it shows - the best stuff - the Summer of Punk, the Yes movement - were spun from crowd frustration. Once Vince departed from the creative side, there was a dramatic improvement with all his silly rules gone and a better work environment. It's still far from perfect; the wrong people are getting pushed right now, and those with potential have been held back a little. Still, I continue to follow WWE, especially now, because of its more consistent quality. EDIT: So, since the Main Event of Mania 41, Sunday things have gone downhill, with the blame generally going to TKO, whereas it was originally directed toward Triple H. Whoever is more responsible for the decline in the product is very obvious from a business model standpoint, the main complaints being the cartoonishly expensive tickets that only Mr Burns and Scrooge McDuck can afford, with going broke and the constant advertising. It also breaks my heart that instead of Aleister Black returning to the main event scene, we got Pat McAfee due to out-of-touch billionaires who still think that Dwayne Johnson is on top of the world. On the other hand, it was directly responsible for making wrestling highly restricted in the state of Kentucky, catered to an audience of dozens who watched guys mutilate each other, and whose promoter was personally responsible for the death of at least one of his own talents by paying him in drugs instead of money (on top of being an absolute scumbag of a human being). I'd never go to an IWA-MS show, but for what it's worth, it did have the decency of giving talent a reason to go to better places like ROH and TNA." |

It's had good talent over the years, but a lot of them have been stripped out by AEW because Court apparently runs his promotion off a shoestring budget by secondary promotion standards. There are very few standouts among the current roster, and MLW feels like it's running low on ideas - they had bootleg Lucha Underground, bootleg Devastation Inc... even a bootleg Great Kabuki at one point. Kross and Scarlett are good, and Austin Aries still has the personality and charisma he used to, but there's really not a lot of standout stars - their recent issues with CMLL over the Tessa Blanchard booking wasn't helpful, and it's not a good look when one of the foremost luchadors on their roster is a literal mascot for a tequila company. Still, they've been a "major indie" or tertiary major company for years, and one can only hope they end up stumbling upon good talent and stories soon enough." |

They're a niche promotion that offers tickets for free, barely gets attendance in the hundreds (mostly due to Juggalos who're already there for an ICP concert), and whose internet show draws less than MLW. They make hundreds of dollars a show - it gives off tremendous money mark vibes. I know they got rid of Vince Russo, who was apparently behind the last year of this nonsense, but there's less than a zero chance that ICP and the team behind JCW will ever make this anything more than an EXTREMELY niche product, one that leaves an acrid Faygo-tanged aftertaste in my mouth after giving it a watch." |

| 18 | 12.10.2026 07:27 | Fusionblaster wrote about All Elite Wrestling: [4.0] "AEW's position is both a blessing and a curse. There are plenty of good wrestlers, similar to the WWE, but also similarly, the AEW roster is incredibly bloated. They used less than a quarter of their roster on their biggest pay-per-view of the year, and the average AEW wrestler is lucky to show up once every other week, if not once a month. The promotion's booking is bad as a result - a tremendous amount of unnecessary 6 or 8-man matches almost every Collision or Dynamite. AEW does give their talent significantly more flexibility than the WWE, and Tony Khan seems to care more for his roster than the suits at WWE do - you have to try to get fired. They have relationships with a slew of independent promotions (unlike the WWE) and have the potential to turn around from their own downward spiral due to Tony Khan being THE man in the promotion - if he wants to make a change, no one can get in his way to stop him." |

However, as of late, their booking, shows, and talent have been weak. WWE suffers from a similar problem to AEW in that their rosters are incredibly bloated, meaning very little focus can convincingly be given to new talent to help them get over. They have around 3 different developmental programs (WWE ID, Evolve, and NXT), all of which have failed to produce a credible star. Their apparent insistence on doing Crown Jewel despite the airport in Riyadh having been hit by Iranian drones multiple times in the past week, is probably the most insane thing they've done wrong. I have to give WWE a lower score than AEW because its corporate leadership means it'll be hard if not impossible for any of them to come to a decision that can bring the promotion back to its former glory and start putting more fans in the seats." |

It's basically a less-hardcore, more artsy GCW in an orange wrapper with a musical performance attached. This isn't worth watching, much less paying over $40 a year to see a few events on the MyAEW app. Also, I don't know how Abdalla is able to expand so quickly, doing a boatload of shows toward the end of 2026, which makes me think he has deep pockets or access to capital for the time being. I also think he's leaning toward taking market share away from Brett Lauderdale and GCW, as they are having a horrendous 2026, with the Super Indie model under pressure from high fuel prices and a shrinking streaming ecosystem. You can tell the GCW shows have smaller audiences in the seats and on the streams these days, along with a TrillerTV 75-events-a-year deal that is about to cease to exist and head to zero." |

Looking back at a full calendar year of Premium Live Events, we have walked away with maybe a single genuinely great show. On a roster loaded with world-class talent, playing it safe to this degree should be grounds for serious criticism. Instead, endless slow-burn teases are used to mask formulaic, sanitized television. WWE is heading in an alarming direction. Vince McMahon created a massive empire that is doomed to fail. Vince killed the territories when his father said not too. Bruno was a star not made by Vince, Hulk Hogan was already a name and used "Patriotism" to make the biggest star of the 80s, Stone Cold, who would be a big star regardless, Vince stumbled into Stone Cold and created the buzz of the late 90s, never followed up when his biggest stars left, leaving us with the boring "PG era", which is some of the worst things a wrestling promoter has ever produced. So many scandals that can't ruin their image, cause its already "too big to break". Vince has ruined wrestling in so many ways. RAW and SMACKDOWN are so low that if you don't tune in, you don't miss most besides boring written segments and forgettable matches for sponsors from TKO. Oh god, TKO has turned this company into even a worse version of itself. The "2021-2024" era of WWE will be remembered as its last ditch effect to claim the throne of professional wrestling, it was almost like we got carried away, we took it for granted cause we didn't know what would come after. WWE has done so many bad things for wrestling while almost not caring about what they leave behind. WWE is no longer the "end all, be all" and that's a good thing for professional wrestling. NXT in 2016-2019 was the only save and grace the company had, almost beating the weekly shows in quality every week. If you can, go explore all forms of professional wrestling and leave this one behind. A company that has no respect for its workers and audience don't deserve to be this big. A wrestling surge was happening and Tony Khan, Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes and more brought us the ultimate escape. However, in the overwhelming positive things that can be talked about, AEW has some really large downs. Some championships mean almost nothing for their lineages, weird business decisions, sometime unprofessional problems (i.e Matt Hardy almost dying, the All Out Brawl, etc.). The womens division has never been where it would be with its roster. The tag team division is "Young Bucks/FTR win belt, lose belt, some tag team have it for a bit, and it comes back around to Young Bucks vs FTR". The Death Riders bubble of early 2025 may be some of the weirdest viewing experiences I have ever sat through. Whereas WWE I've watched a big chunk of their weekly content from a specific era and a huge swath of their pay per views over the last half century, I have watched every single Dynamite, Rampage, Collision, and Battle of the Belts, plus every pay per view and I did most of that at the end of 2023 into 2024, and am in the midst of an abridged rewatch with somebody who I'm trying to onboard in time for the next C2 (just nine months of shows to go and probably a month and a half before that starts). I love AEW, and I'm very pleased with their product as a whole. There's definitely less on Collision that's worth watching, and I definitely understand the women's division needs to be given much better attention. It's a bit disappointing in that regard, but the highs in the men's division are VERY high. I hope one day AEW's women's division becomes more on the level of Toni vs Mariah for the world championship, their inaugural Blood and Guts match, and Mercedes for the TBS title vs Statlander and Willow across the board, rather than the glimpses of genius that float in and disappear far too rapidly. Still, I feel comfortable giving a 9 to AEW." |

Ever since Bushiroad has taken over Stardom, it's been a lot more corporate & not really focusing on the long term direction of getting their performers over. They' I'd say my favorite decision that Taro has made so far this year was making Suzu Suzuki the champion & they did put effort in getting her over earlier in the year with gimmick hardcore matches & giving MVL plenty of wins, but when you look at other top stars like Kamitani, Momo, Azm + so much others & you're not doing anything with them on the cards & everyone is just stagnant creative wise, it's super boring compared to Stardom's booking last year. When Utami returned in May of this year & had that face off segment with Kamitani, it was red-hot from the start & ever since than there's been nothing going on between them. When I was first curious about the concept of pro wrestling in late 2020, I watched the first episode of AEW Dynamite and went "alright, you've got my attention" and immediately had to stop because episode 2 was missing. So, to figure out why John Cena was hated, I decided to get some background, and so I had a big batch of RAW and Smackdown episodes I started working my way through, just a random needle drop in 1999. I was mesmerized for a full year, year and a half of TV. And then I got distracted doing other things after I decided 4 hours a week and a pay per view or two a month was too much to screw around with to catch up with for 20 years. Few years later, I remember wrestling existed and started watching AEW and, simultaneously, all the Undertaker Wrestlemanias. It's a wild way to work your way from Wrestlemania VII to the present. Nothing ages quite like 80s WWE. But things perked up for the late 90s, the 2000s, even the 2010s had a lot going for it. I also became aware of Roman Reigns's 2020s resurgence, so, as soon as I was done with the Wrestlemania of 2020, I started watching every (non-NXT) pay per view starting with his return. It was that good! But then fortunes started to change for WWE, pretty much as soon as Cody won the big one. The advertising got more obnoxious, the sidelining of great wrestlers got more frequent. It was a shocking drop in quality, while AEW dragged itself back up from a franchise low. I went from watching every PLE and the odd RAW/Smackdown to just PLEs with good matches to just Wrestlemania to jack squat. I think in the end the "house style" of WWE doesn't appeal to me - the best of their (modern) matches as rated here don't gel with me. That, along with the 40/60 split of wrestling to in-show ads on their PLEs, the historical mishandling of the women's division, the drug problems, the insane work schedule of their athletes historically and even today (though much improved), the union busting, the Saudi sportwashing compliance, the destruction of the old landscape of wrestling, the various ways they mismanage the rosters in general year to year, the various sex crimes allegations over the decades, and, oh, let's just end with AAA and TNA getting fingered by TKO, I think a 4 might be a generous rating. I'll go with 3. Y'know. Because they're so influential." |

I love how the Indie operate with their matches so, seeing the most current most popular company (outside of WWE) being this unadulterated display of Indie wrestling makes a joy to watch week-to-week. Now, of course it's not a constant display of great matches every Dynamite and/or Collision but it IS super consistent when have those matches that have you the edge of your seat. Been a fan for a good month and I can say that AEW got me back into wrestling." |

Whether it's the lack of new talent getting opportunities and insisting on the same people over and over again, or how insultingly bad storylines have gotten. There was a faint glimmer of hope towards the end of Cena's career, but even that they somehow managed to fumble had they let him do the dates he wanted. This is now the biggest issue, playing it safe instead of interesting. The crowd wants to see wrestling, not slideshows of an AI generated gingerbread man. How anything that abhorrent can make it past creative is nothing short of disgusting. The whole product is now borderline unwatchable ever since TKO took over." |

I like that sometimes they just book a match. not stipulation, no beefs, no drama, just a straight fight. it's very unique and I love that you get to watch the pecking order be developed over time instead of liking in other promotions where top guys are just permanently established and don't need to Hussle against jobbers and midcarders to earn an opportunity." |

Grew up watching it an fell in love with it and was obsessed for years. The late 2010's made me quit watching and I came back only to see John Cena's final matches. While following Cena's matches I noticed the booking and storylines are so boring. I know the whole premise of WWE is sports entertainment. Even if you can't give us good storylines, atleast give us some good fucking wrestling for crying out loud. Not pushing wrestlers who clearly have the talent like Gargano and Bálor and turing superstars into mid carders like Shinsuke Nakamura who rarely makes it on TV. The only reason I'm watching is because of CM Punk (even though people call him a hypocrite nowadays) and Randy. After Randy retires I am done with this company." |

Although their shows are produced with great passion and dedication, the company has significant shortcomings. First, they have a very limited roster (a recurring issue for both companies); second, some wrestlers lack the skill level required for the show; and finally, there are too many titles (three) for such a small roster. The booking has largely been nonsensical, though it has been improving recently. It is also worth noting that the company works closely with the country's only professional wrestling academy, Tercer Impacto; the academy is responsible for developing new talent and is doing a good job. Show organization has improved but still has room for growth. Given its longevity, one would expect the company to produce higher-quality shows than its competitor; nevertheless, despite its flaws, it occasionally delivers great matches. Ultimately, I believe it fulfills the role of promoting professional wrestling in Lima, but it needs new leadership to achieve its potential and transform a long-standing company into a high-quality product. Even so, I recommend attending at least one show, as the people involved are incredibly passionate and talented." |

Although the venue where they hold most of their events isn't the most attractive, the atmosphere and the wrestlers' professionalism make for a unique experience. In short, it is the PWG of Peru. The only downside is the small size of the roster, which can cause matches to feel repetitive after a while." |

I don't know what has happened, look at WWE in the late 90's and 00's, hell, even some of the 10's. But recently the main product has been near completely unwatchable. The storylines are absolute garbage, the actual wrestling is okay at best on most week. Almost every episode of Raw & SD are almost carbon copies of the previous weeks, apart from a few different boring segments. NXT is the shining star in this shitty company. If you're looking for a promotion with interesting storylines check out Lucha Underground or Major League Wrestling. If you want great matches check out New Japan, Ring Of Honor, Dragon Gate, CMLL, NOAH, Progress, etc. Edit (2021): I barely feel that NXT nowadays can even keep this trash above 0. The dumb booking and confusing stuff on mainly RAW is KILLING this company. If WWE didn't have a billionaire and the legacy they would be crippling at the current moment." |

Without it, AAA would've been bankrupted and since Borash and Undertaker have taken over, the production has improved alongside booking as well. It may not be up there with CMLL, but it's an effort that this company has been revived." |

In an ideal world, both aew and wwe would be good. Who would not want to have two amazing products to watch week by week? Unfortunately, wwe has been lagging behind. Its ppv are consistently excellent, with main events that always deliver. The promotion also features storylines that while often brief are entertaining; throughout the year, various wrestlers pursue their own goals and narratives, and no matter how small they may seem, they always add value to the overall product. The championship scene is strong, too; while the High Speed Championship can sometimes be underwhelming, the other titles consistently produce great matches. Stardom is a promotion that is well worth watching." |
