Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling (TJPW)

[8.0] "Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling is without a doubt one of the best Japanese wrestling companies out there right now. It has a mix of everything. It has its serious main events, it has silliness in the mid-card, and amazing presentation from the workers and broadcast a whole. TJPW has its own vibe as a wrestling company, and it always brings a smile to my face. Any wrestler can go down the card and have an enjoyable match while waiting to move back up the card, there is such a nice balance in this company that most companies fail to achieve."

[9.0] "I tried to get into TJPW for a long time, and I finally get it. I've consistently enjoyed the shows, and the comedy for a while now. The way they pace their shows is incredible. Main Events feel so big due to the less-serious undercards."

[10.0] "I have so much respect & admiration for TJPW. Hyper Misao's intelligence creative wise, the mix of legitimate wrestling stars like Arai, Yamashita, Miu.. alongside comedy geniuses like Pom is just so, so good. I am very addicted to watching TJPW when they go live"

[10.0] "TJPW does wrestling like no other company and that makes them so unique and incredibly good because the stuff they are doing wouldn't even had a chance to be reality in other promotions. The can produce PEAK comedy and at the same time they can deliver 5 star classics. TJPW produced some of the very best wrestlers ever like Miyu Yamashita, Shoko Nakajima, Miu Watanabe or recently Suzume, JUST to name a few. I'm so happy they continue to grow year by year because everyone needs to see how fantastic TJPW is!"

[7.0] "TJPW has played a huge role in putting women's wrestling in Japan and around the world in the spotlight, giving many talented wrestlers a platform to grow and reach a much wider audience. Their unique mix of strong wrestling, comedy, and memorable characters has helped make women's wrestling more accessible and entertaining to fans worldwide."

"if you're looking for a promotion that gives you equally amazing wrestling and entertainment, then this is it, teej is consistently one of the better joshi promotions"

[10.0] "As far as a promotion that specializes in entertainment and wrestling, Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling never falls short of the mark."

[9.0] "The shows are easy to get into, and when it hits, it really hits with great matches and memorable moments. It might not be for everyone because of the comedy, but if it clicks with you, it's one of the most enjoyable products out there right now."

[8.0] "[8.6] Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling is one of the best professional wrestling promotions in Japan right now and the best JOSHI type promotion in the world right now. TJPW is everything that I love and want from pro-wrestling at the moment. Good wrestling, great shows, good comedy, great characters. This is everything a promotion needs. Just a bucket of fun for any hardcore wrestling fans wanting something different. TJPW is just so much fun and I hope more hardcore fans gravitate to the product."

[9.0] "Really cool and fun promotion, absolutely love it, I think it also kinda depends on what you like in other mediums for whether you like it or not."

[6.0] "there are two many lows for me, the highs are good but for every great match you get 5 silly dumb comedy matches which insult the intelligence of the view, i get others might find this funny or even entertainment but not me, i enjoy the top of card likes of miyu, maki, miu and some of the people they bring in like grace and slamovich but i cannot help but find the wrestles acting like they are playing wrestling rather than being wrestlers, with the rise of marigold they have lost the second spot ."

[10.0] "Tokyo Joshi Pro is my favorite promotion by a wide margin, from the easy to understand but incredibly charming characters, fun but amazing matches, The Up Up Girls opening musical number to each show. You can't go wrong with Teej"

"Really solid show that put the spotlight on a lot of fresh faces. Great main event that showed why Shoko is one of the best out there in joshi."

[10.0] "The most fun I've ever had watching wrestling. True variety show of differing personalities, and some of the best workers in the world right now. I love TJPW!"

[10.0] "tjpw is dumb as hell and i am absolutely all for it characters characters characters characters characters characters characters"

[10.0] "TJPW revitalized my love for pro wrestling when I started watching it in 2021. Maki Itoh was the one that got me watching and I haven't missed a show since. It's mostly a fun and light-hearted promotion until it's not, as in many of those ladies can really work when the time comes. Also it's more of an idol-based promotion with no true babyface and heel dynamics but instead you simply cheer for who you're a fan of. Is it for everyone? No. Is it for me? Yes."

[10.0] "im on a tjpw kick right now so i feel its time to rate the company. tjpw has the single most likable roster in the world for me, every single wrestler puts a smile on my face. tjpw also have the smoothest, best flowing shows in my opinion as well, they fly by and always have good pacing. theyve got some of the most absurd matches ever, such as any of the january 4th hyper misao vs shoko nakajima matches, the pool match, the amusement park challenge, and most recently the aquarium match. at the same time though, they have some of the most intense technical matches out there, most including miyu yamashita, rika tatsumi, miu watanabe, and yuka sakazaki (before she left). a lot of wrestlers havent gotten a chance at the main event yet, but are steadily proving they can make it on top in title matches. tjpw isnt for everyone but you should definitely give it a watch to see if its for you, theres a very good chance theres somebody or something youll like."

[10.0] "More people should watch TJPW. The wrestlers are all good in ring with some of course being better. Even when the in ring quality isn't amazing, the somehow wrap you in with sheer fun and enthusiasm. TJPW is the prefect promotion to cheer you up due to how much fun it is through comedy or just having fun. It still however manages to have consistently great matches and great main events from an in ring standpoint. One of my favourite promotions."

[10.0] "Some of the most fun I've ever had watching wrestling has involved following TJPW. Despite lacking the Heel/Babyface dynamic for the most part, they are still able to create matches that feel like a big deal when the time is right. Often portrayed as a comedy promotion but the In-ring work some of these girls are capable of is underrated and they've been able to craft many matches that leave you emotionally invested by the end of them."

[8.0] "to put it simply, it is a unique and fun alternative full of bizarre and tremendously entertaining characters that makes it such a joyful experience to watch, especially in attendance. But that exact aspect is putting a ceiling on talents' to be taken more seriously other than the few main eventers. It does work out for young talents with little to no epxerience with wrestling but at the end of the day they have to step it up. The main event is very much some of the most engaging Joshi matches there is and there should be more of that."

[8.0] "TJPW is a fun alternative promotion to, well, everything else. The big shows are excellent, the small house shows are a bit of a mixed bag for me. The wrestlers feel like anime characters come to life. Most are endearing, but some are annoying. There are no heels...though Hyper Misao acts like one...this leads to too many matches with no stakes to them. Winning and losing seems meaningless, unless you are in a championship match or the Princess tourney. I think TJP would benefit from booking some heated rivalries and giving the younger/undercard wrestlers something to fight for, like a Future, or Junior title. Currently, there is a really promising crop of rookies, which I hope move up the card quickly. There is a bit of a glass ceiling in TJP, which has cost them wrestlers in the past. I'd appreciate more adventurous booking, so I'm giving the promotion an 8. It has everything it needs to be a 10, but too often undermines itself. This review may sound harsh, but I really like TJPW and want to love it."

[10.0] "Unique. Mix of comedy and an amazing roster full of weird gimmick. Everyone has their own favorite and that says a lot about how good it is. Maybe too much comedy at times, but they're always great, whether it's good matches or good comedy or good stories."

[10.0] "One of the best and most unique promotion today. A mix of good (and consistently great on major events) wrestling, a great roster that seem to be made of real-life anime characters. What is most remarkable with TJPW is how they can blend successfully emotionnaly engaging storylines with sometimes comedy and compelling in-ring storytelling."

[8.0] "TJPW is a weird Promotion to me, on one hand they often have more distinct Joshis in comparison to Stardom that i Enjoy a lot more, on the other hand however, its the worst booked Promotion with Koda often only pushing the same 5 Joshis for around 6-8 months"

[10.0] "Worth the price of Wrestle universe alone. Always have a fun time watching TJPW with their great mix of comedy and then banger matchups and title fights. Some of the very best womens wrestlers in the world."

[10.0] "One of the most interesting Japanese Joshi promotions. Lots of great matches, interesting characters and quite promising newcomers. Yes, there are problems about titles here, but this is already a matter of taste."

"I took my friend to this event and he loved seeing a lot of the wrestlers for the first time and couldn't help but record a lot of the spots and cheer ask me who was who to cheer for them. I sat close to this manlet in a wrestlemania jacket that I suspect was coked up to the gills, only thing that negative from attending the show live As a whole I loved the performances, Rika being dominant was superb didn't let a rookie get big moves in and put Starkz down. I hope next time they bring the full roster and local talent is limited to Wasteland Warparty or maybe one wrestler. I hope they come back to LA or southern California soon.9/10"

[9.0] "Great promotion. It's very easy to sit down and watch a show because there's enough variety that they're never boring, and as another commenter pointed out they're rarely over-long. The house style is an almost perfect balance of traditional wrestling and slapstick comedy. The wrestlers all have distinct characters and move-sets and clear places in the hierarchy of the promotion, meaning storytelling is crystal clear, and that there's always an underlying interest in seeing how the many rookies develop and potentially move up the ranks. Shows rarely feel too samey because the wrestlers seem to always come up with new creative and amusing ways for their characters and fighting styles to interact. Loads of fun"

[9.0] "Pretty much my favourite current promotion, the big shows nearly always deliver and the top of the card will deliver very high end wrestling. Their smaller shows are usually entertaining at a minimum and never take the piss out of your time."

[5.0] "TJPW has tremendous young talent, and is almost certainly the second most popular promotion in Japan. In the US, the promotion stands side by side with Stardom in terms of notoriety. In fact, an argument could be made that TJPW is even more relevant than Stardom with the promotional cooperation alongside AEW. The big problem I have with TJPW is simply the booking. They have a humongous crop of talented young wrestlers, but they are never pushed to the top of the card. Since Maki lost to Miyu in the Princess of Princess match, there has not been a single shred of adventurous booking. TJPW also has a large group of wrestlers that aren't very good, and something like a two and a half hour Korakuen show begins to feel like a slog when I don't enjoy the wrestling in the first half of the show and feel as though I can't emotionally invest in the second half of the show because the young wrestlers at the top of the card won't be given the ball. Shoko Nakajima's recent title reign did absolutely nothing for me, and I haven't felt much more than that for Yuka. CyberFight needs a reset in general."

"TJPW is a very fun joshi promotion. As the sister promotion to DDT, it retains a lot of the same comedy focus over more conventional feuds and face/heel storylines. That being said, TJPW still has more than its fair share of great wrestlers, such as: Miyu Yamashita, Yuka Sakazaki, Mizuki, Shoko Nakajima and Rika Tatsumi. It also has a strong midcard with wrestlers who are still a little green but have huge potential, namely: Miu Watanabe, Suzume and Arisu Endo. TJPW can't compete with Stardom in terms of the sheer technical prowess of their respective rosters but they aren't trying to compete on a like-for-like basis. What makes TJPW stand out is that it has a lot of really fun and entertaining characters. While their main event scene regularly features technical master classes to rival any women's division in the world, the bulk of TJPW's matches will be safe affairs that work within the limitations of the performers, making up for it with great character work. Hyper Misao is hilarious, Pom Harajuku's goofy antics will always put smiles on faces and Maki Itoh probably needs no introduction at this point. This isn't to say that TJPW is perfect. Most of the roster is really good but there are a few performers who are yet to distinguish themselves either through being good wrestlers or having fun gimmicks. TJPW often signs performers with limited experience in professional wrestling or combat sports and not all of them will find long-term success in the industry. Thankfully, I never get the impression that anyone on TJPW's roster is an unsafe worker and the promotion seems to encourage performers newer to the business to prioritise the fundamentals over trying flashier and more dangerous spots. If you like the side of wrestling that doesn't take itself too seriously, TJPW is a promotion worth checking out."

"TJPW for my money has it all. Comedy, excellent characters, great match quality and variety, and generally just a fun and light-hearted atmosphere. Yamashita's international work got me to check it out, but up and down the card the wrestlers are so charming and talented. There's absolutely no dead weight here, not a single character that doesn't immediately click."

[9.0] "[9.0] It's quite a fun promotion, sometimes it does quite unusual things, it has comedy, ex-J-POP singers, some of his characters are influenced by anime, how could it be otherwise in japan, so a very cute "kawai" aesthetic predominates. However; He also has good fights when they propose it, Unlike other promotions in which it seems that the fighters hate each other to death, in TJPW the rivalries do not tend to be so fierce, many of their fights are experienced with great intensity and are quite emotional.I just wish they would promote their new talents a little more. highly recommended."

[7.0] "A fun, wholesome company with plenty of colorful characters. Definitely not the no. 1 dominant kind of wrestling that most fans want to see, as they want you to die for their sins, I mean... entertainment. They keep it safe and simple in there, which is actually part of the appeal - no dumb moves, less flashy, more psychology; one of the more sensible organizations in that regard. It's how they shine a light on their personalities, emphasizing that over athletic coordination. They also understand subtlety, and if you don't, this is probably not for you. If you want to get your kids into wrestling, show them this; I don't know why more children aren't watching. If an anime studio or Disney would create a wrestling promotion, this is what it would look like for the most part. Some call it the "super-soft style of idol wrestling". It's similar to watching your kid's JV games and being emotionally attached. It should be repeated: they don't kill each other in there, and if you are an insensitive person looking for wrestlers who work like they're trying to collect concussions, you should look elsewhere. If you want something different, give it a try."

[9.0] "TJPW is a fun promotion. The wrestling is good & the promotion knows what it is. It doesn't try to be something it's not."

[10.0] "Fun promotion with a good mix of creativity, comedy and work rate making it one of the easiest promotions to watch."

[8.0] "I've slowly started getting more into TJPW and it's now become a favorite of mine. The characters and entertainment value were always there, but the in-ring quality has improved a ton too. There's something for everyone. On various occasions, it's even more fun than Stardom nowadays. If only the booking was better and it didn't take so long for a lot of talented people to get pushed, it might be a 9/10 promotion."

[8.0] "If other promotions represent professional wrestling in workrate, TJPW represents professional wrestling in pure charisma and characters. TJPW may not be able to match their competitors in some ways but has captivated an audience that enjoy the stories TJPW has been able to tell in a different way than most promotions."

[6.0] "They are not on the level of STARDOM, but TJPW certainly provides an interesting alternative for joshi fans who want some more variety and don't just want to watch STARDOM. The promotion has come a long way. Their matches and wrestlers have improved over the years."

[9.0] "A very good promotion with some of the best Joshi wrestlers in the world right now, a ton of great matches in the short history of TJPW"

[10.0] "After watching TJPW from around the start of the year, I finally feel I have watched enough to give it an accurate rating, and for me, it's the best promotion in the world right now. TJPW strikes a perfect balance between the typically puro action-centered presentation and fantastic character work that makes everyone on the roster feel wonderfully unique. The product is, simply put, very fun, and often, very funny. The comedy, however, should not overshadow the fact that their booking is top drawer and the building of future sensations like Mirai Maiumi, Miu Watanabe, and Hikari Noa never feels rushed or forced. Their current upper echelon of talent is one of the best in the world, with Rika Tatsumi, Shoko Nakajima, Yuka Sakazaki and, above all others, Miyu Yamashita, being some of the most capable wrestlers in the business. There is certainly a strong, and probably objectively correct argument to be made that STARDOM, their competition atop the Joshi mountain, has better in-ring action, though it's by no means a huge margin. Beyond this, TJPW seem to understand international expansion in a way that STARDOM just do not. Oh, and then there's Maki Itoh. Nothing I can say about Maki Itoh could possibly accurately covey what she's all about, bur if you saw her on AEW, you'll have an idea. Unquestionably a sensation, fans should by all means come to TJPW for the Cutest in the World. But you'll stay too, for everything else."

[10.0] "A really fun promotion that has really good wrestling that is under rated by some that think it? s just character wrestling it also has some pretty entertaining comedy to there matches. The other positive for the promotion is a the amount of good young rookies that come through in the last year and if they develop them correctly will have a great future main eventers . I look forward To the future of this promotion but the current top starts are great as well and worth watching"

[8.0] "Tokyo Joshi is the perfect pallet cleansing wrestling promotion, in my opinion. While there are Joshi companies that have better in-ring performers, like Stardom and SEAdLINNNG, I don't know if there's a more fun Joshi promotion going today. During my short time watching TJPW, I've grown to love and appreciate many of the wrestlers there, and I'm sure as the year progresses, I'll only appreciate it more."

[6.0] "A nice promotion with fun and charismatic wrestlers. They definitely have their entertaining moments, even if it can be a bit hard to understand what is happening at times (as someone who doesn't speak Japanese). Just not for me personally, I prefer Joshi promotions like Stardom with more of a focus on the wrestling aspect."

[7.0] "really solid, and fun promotion to watch but is somewhat overrated here currently being just over a 9 average I enjoy virtually every show they put on as its a fun couple of hours with some good wrestling and good characters, and they're now seemingly getting some more overseas exposure thanks to the likes of Maki Ito and Yuka Sakazaki, my personal favourite though is Miyu Yamashita, the shows are generally worth watching for her matches alone"

[8.0] "Absolutely great joshi promotion. From wrestling quality perspective there is a lot to complain about. Many girls there are completely green, some are there just because of their beauty and some are really talented. Not many though... However, if we focus on overall presentation of their shows and how much entertaining these can be, it's a genuine diamond. If you love cute japanese girls, this is where you find them. There is a lot of comedy, singing, talking sequences, cool storylines. I could say it's female version of Dramatic Dream Team in some ways. The most talented girls usually advance to bigger and better promotions like Stardom. I like to think about it, that TJPW is a great proving ground and learning facility for future joshi stars. I highly recommend this organisation. Totally worth watching."

[10.0] "Imagine giving a promotion a lower rating because "It doesn't deserve that high rating other people gave to it". TJPW to me is a 10/10 promotion and I completely respect other opinions, but in my experience watching it with other people, it's the easiest promotion to get into, even with the lack of subtitles. There's no overly complicated drama, or elaborate stories that try to mimic a TV show plot. It's just really good characters and their paths for you to support and enjoy, a group of friendly chicks and their own style of joshi puroresu. It's light-hearted entertainment, it's a simple thing, to watch 2 hours a week and don't over-analyze. TJPW is what I wanted from wrestling these days, not overly complicated and serious stuff with lots of big dangerous spots, but a group of colorful characters telling stories in the ring and having the skill to hook you in within minutes. I've been subscribed for 2 years already and I've never felt any regret. Tokyo Joshi just had its 7th anniversary today and it's amazing to see their growth first hand, only good things await, and they will continue working hard to entertain their audience."

[10.0] "I only started watching TJPW at the end of March 2020 & it immediately struck me how much FUN the promotion is. You want all the wrestlers to do well because they drag you in emotionally & by how hard they are trying. From the UP UP Girls opening the show with their latest song, to the top wrestlers like Miyu Yamashita & Yuka Sakazaki the shows fly by. Come on Raku, let's get that first singles win!"

[10.0] "Of course they do not have the wrestling quality that other joshi promotions such as Stardom or Seaddling have, but they always manage to entertain you. It is very cool because you see that the wrestlers may not be that good but you see that they have fun doing what they do and that is what matters most. If you want to have a good time, watch a TJPW show, you will not regret it. P. S They have the coolest ring canvas design in all af wrestling IMO"
