[2.0] "Gameplay is still solid and there are some real improvements over 2K25 like new match types, physics, and a fresh CM Punk Showcase, but none of that outweighs how bad everything else has gotten. The Ringside Pass completely kills progression. Instead of unlocking things naturally, you're stuck grinding endlessly or paying extra just to access content that used to be standard. It feels like a full priced game built around microtransactions. On top of that, modes like MyRise feel watered down, the Creation Suite barely improved, and features like CAW customization and masks are either outdated or locked behind paywalls. Even small things like missing entrance music while streaming add to the frustration. At the end of the day, the core gameplay is fun, but almost everything around it drags the experience down. It feels like a step back from 2K25 and more focused on monetization than actually improving the game."

[0.0] "I'm going to take the previous person's approach and start sailing the seven seas for these games. It was included on PS Plus but that's still a waste of money. Where to even start? How about the addition of ringside (battle) pass in lieu of traditional DLC that you have to grind to unlock EVEN IF YOU'VE PURCHASED THE CONTENT...I'm glad I didn't spend the big money on the Monday Night War edition (it doesn't have Sting so what's even the point? ). Then we have Pepsi Longstocking's showcase. The first third is fine story wise even if the objectives and AI rubber banding force the matches to last longer than they should. Then we have him dressed as Bret Hart to avenge the Montreal Screwjob...Then he takes the place of Daniel Bryan, Sami Zayn, Chris Jericho and Randy Orton in what if scenarios. The only one I liked was being Kurt Angle's opponent for his retirement match. That would've been pretty solid. I hope you're ready to get familiar with "slingshot tech" because Punk's going to be reading it off of his cue cards for the duration of the what if portion."

The only saving grace is spamming punches and chops so everyone shuts the fuck down. I love that there is commentary by Vince and Jesse. And I played this as a 2026 for the first time, so no nostalgia here. The seizure inducing lights at the end of a match is not something I like, but it is what it is. Quite simply the cream of the crop of AKI games and one of the best wrestling games ever, period. The All Japan license is great, and although there are other rosters, editing them to their likeness is easy. I've recently com0.75e to appreciate Japanese wrestling, particularly 1990s AJPW, much more, and for anyone willing to learn or understand the culture of Japanese wrestling, this is a perfect introduction. [10.0] "I know everyone loves Here Comes The Pain, but in the PS2/XBox/Gamecube era of games, this ranks as my favorite WWE game. The roster was HUGE and perfect, everyone was well represented. The graphics were great, the gameplay got a nice overhaul, and the number of arenas were great. We got GM mode for the first time and really felt like we could control all aspects of WWE at the time. They even had a chance to throw in the ECW One Night Stand arena for good measure. However, this was the first Smackdown game in the franchise where you can defend titles in exhibition mode, something I had wanted for years on this series (which we got with No Mercy) and was happy that every title was represented depending on the brand. And to add to it, we got the Hardcore and Million Dollar championships thrown in for good measure. The legends listed in the game were fun, with a good mix of Attitude era stars (Stone Cold, Mankind, The Rock) with golden era stars (Hulk Hogan, Junkyard Dog, Ted DiBiase, and Andre The Giant) mixed in. The Season mode utilized the roster very well, and the voice over work wasn't half bad. Overall this is a game I do come back to and make my own events to rewrite a little history here and there."

The roster was exceptional, especially the legends roster, and having Kurt Angle back was a breath of fresh air. I got a lot of gameplay out of this, and one element in matches that I loved that we barely got before was the ability to do a squash match. As someone who grew up with Superstars and Wrestling Challenge, it felt good to have Brock Lesnar or Ultimate Warrior crush a day within 30 seconds for a win. The DLC was also excellent with some surprises in there. Rick Martel especially was a surprise to have in there, and WCW was probably best represented here. Heck, even World Class got a lot of love here. A game I like coming back to from time to time to relive some old style matches mixed in with the current roster at the time."

I do prefer the PSX version of the game, but it is a lot of fun. Very simple in design, the graphics were amazing for its time (and in my opinion, still hold up today). It was the first time you really felt like you were in control of the wrestlers, but in extreme situations. The 8 man roster was small but had the top guys at the time (well... maybe not Doink so much but his colorful attire really showed how great the game looked). I would have liked it to be 10-12 as it could have been (no Diesel, Owen, and apparently Adam Bomb was supposed to be in the game... maybe Bulldog as the 12th). Now that would have ruled. The appeal of this game is greater now because it's a wrestling game that non-wrestling fans can play."

Loads of customization as well as far as CAWs, and there's endless mini games and unlockables, real unlockables, not behind on paywall garbage like present day games. The only thing I've felt that kept this game from being a 10, is that at that time, the roster really wasn't that good. You had stars, but the undercard left a lot to be desired. Overall though, 9/10 is a perfect rating, and if I still was in gaming mode, I'd dust off my PS2 and find a way to play it."

[2.0] "(For the most part) the same game as Steel Cage Challenge, down to the music and NES game roster but cut down to 6 wrestlers, but the gameplay is different this time around, as its less jerky and strikes see more use than grapples, pinning is also much easier this time, just press B+A when close to a downed opponent. Sadly its still not great, as we still have the 'wrestlers-all-have-the-same-moves' issue and its still a mashfest, also you also have less control over your grapple moves since you'll, most of the time, be doing a janky, kinda sudden irish whip instead, plus grapples generally seems to be harder to initiate. Needless to say, you can win matches by just doing kicks and stomps for most of the match. Cage matches are also a pain, as its almost guaranteed that your opponent will get up before you escape (unless they act dumb and just roll around instead) so you're better off just pinning them instead. Is it better than NES SCC? Eh, just barely."

Yeah, a different developer did WWF games on NES no favors. At the very least the wrestlers have decently animated. You might just be able to get a win on easier difficulties if you understand the controls, but on difficult, good f'in luck, as its a pure mashfest that's never in your favor."

[6.0] "WWE 2K25 is basically WWE 2K24 but if we took leaps behind in some areas. The menus are okay, nothing too mindblowing. The graphics this year are worse. Defenitely worse. The eyes look somewhat worse and graphically some wrestlers look a bit worse. Gameplay wise, the matches are more fun to play with the reintroduction of Technical Wrestling and Better AIs but that comes with the setback of unrealistic matches. Why is a 62 defeating a 90? Showcase this year 8.2is better but I have no motivation to play it. Again, Showcase has locked some items behind it like MyFaction but it is not as bad as 2K24's was. Universe Mode is skippable and I don't have motivation to play MyFaction or My Rise. The Island can go DIE! They removed PC Caws and because of it Community Creations have taken a tumble in quality. Bad face textures and CAWs run rampid through Community Creations. Most Recent was removed and now it's harder to find better CAWs without scrolling through endless menus. Overall, a bit of a let down for me. [***.25]"

[6.0] "WWE 2K26 feels almost the same as 2k25 but with a few big changes. The menus are okay, yet again nothing too mindblowing. The graphics this year are again, a bit of a downgrade. The eyes look so bad this year. This was a complaint I had in 2K25 but they managed to amplify it to the maximum. Gameplay has great new additions with AI sequencing, new beginning motions, new animations for reversals and smarter AI. The CM Punk Showcase this year was horrible on another level and I thought 2K24's was frustrating. They have some of the most pointless sections with dream matches, frustrating objectives and a terrible end. Universe Mode is skippable and I don't have motivation to play MyFaction or My Rise. The Island is still here. The Ringside Battle Pass is a good addition for wanting to keep the players on the game but it was badly handled during the launch. Overall, another solid game held back by some weak modes, underwhelming additions and the same 2K look. I'm hoping 2K27 fixes what 2K25 and 26 have done. [***]"

[7.0] "This game is way before my time, coming out over ten years before I ever picked up my first video game, but I've been able to play this one thanks to a friend who has the arcade version. This game has pretty standard gameplay for a moveset-based, arcade fighting game, and has a learning curve as you need to memorize combos and movesets. Of course, any game from the arcade era is going to have stiff controls to some extent compared to the buttery smooth controls of today's games, but WrestleMania's gameplay has aged decently. The speed and pacing of the gameplay are good, and the combos aren't too long like some other games. I am a simulation sports gamer, so the old-school arcady gameplay isn't my thing, but I can be objective and say that the gameplay is solid. The graphics are fantastic for the time and have aged very well. My only major criticisms of the game is that the roster is too small and the limited number of game modes. I am pleasantly surprised that Bam Bam is included, but I question where wrestlers like Diesel, Savage, Bulldog, and Sid are. Also, I don't think this game has much replay value if you want more than just freeplay matches. Also, the sound effects can overpower the commentary, but the commentary is repetitive regardless, so it isn't a huge deal. Once you get the championship endings (which are just as wacky as the rest of the game), there isn't really anything new to experience in the game. Overall, it isn't my favorite wrestling game ever, but I can acknowledge that it's an objectively solid game, held back by its lack of content. I would rate it higher if it had a few more characters or another decent game mode."

[2.0] "It's basically the same game as WWF WrestleMania, but with worse gameplay and poorly aged graphics. The gameplay is clunky, stiff, and finicky, and is worse than WWF WrestleMania in every way. The few 'additions' either don't add anything of value (the finisher system) or make the game worse (the power-ups). No new game modes were added either. The sprites of the wrestlers look like low-quality Mortal Kombat rip-offs, and the animations often look only half-done. The unique arenas are a nice touch, though. The roster is slightly bigger and the audio is better, but I'd expect that from a sequel, and they aren't nearly enough to save this trainwreck. I know a 2/10 seems harsh, but this game did not justify its existence and provides no value to the player. There is literally no reason to play this when WWF WrestleMania (or Mortal Kombat for that matter) exists."

Only improvements the game could've had was some cut wrestlers staying included; Jeff Hardy, Molly Holly, Hogan, Kidman, Ivory and various others. But that's nitpicking. Still replayable, the perfect mix of arcade style with realism. Amazing roster, a remaster including a general manager mode would be insane, just not done by the abysmal 2K."

Some cut wrestlers being included; Dudleys, Matt Hardy, Victoria would've probably made this the best game of all time period. Everything in this game is awesome--from the roster, the painful looking moves (e.g lesnar lariat), the fun season mode, all the match types to choose from, and the thrilling, fast-paced gameplay. But after playing WWE Day of Reckoning 2, and coming back to this game--I can now say its one of my all time favorites. The roster might not be as huge as hits like Fire Pro-Wrestling Returns, and KOC II but that's fine. The graphics look awesome, and the moves look like they hurt big time. (especially the german suplex). The soundtrack is a hit-or-miss, I guess. There's a few bad ones and some good ones. If you love games like WWE Here Comes the Pain, or WWE Day of Reckoning 2--you probably will like this game. I can see why some might prefer the first game because of the Pro-Wrestling NOAH wrestlers, Brock Lesnar and Shibata, but overall--this game is absolutely worth it, and you should pick this up play this as soon as possible."

[8.0] "I mean, it's a good game. The graphics are really nice for the era, it's got a great roster (including the only official WWE video game appearance of Ultimo Dragon! ), the CAW system is extensive, and there's all kinds of stuff do in and out of the ring. However, this game is certainly NOT perfect. Matches don't always feel very smooth and there's definitely some wonky collision detection going on. What's really annoying is that the AI reverses your moves way too often. On normal difficulty I swear like 3/4 of my moves get reversed. It's obnoxious. When the game works right it's really fun, especially against another human. And it does work most of the time (outside of the overabundance of reversals), but when it doesn't work, it REALLY doesn't work. And the season mode is so disjointed and random. I start a season as Edge, and beat Rhyno in my first match. The next week, I have the option to speak with Rhyno backstage, so I do, and he shows me respect for the win last week, then Sean O'Haire shows up and criticizes Rhyno for being nice to me, and then O'Haire tells us to watch out. OK, so there's a storyline brewing here, definitely gonna team up with Rhyno against Sean O'Haire and like, Test or something right? lmao nope, I get a entire week off with nothing to do at all and then the next week I'm in a triple threat for the US title. I lose after Eddie Guerrero reverses my Edgecution for the third time and then gets chokeslammed by Big Show. Next week is Backlash, which I'm not on the card. But then, after the show, Jerry Lawler approaches me, and for some reason offers me a chance to be in a tournament for the tag titles. OK, perfect, maybe I can team up with Rhyno and--LMAO NOPE, Lawler tells me I'm teaming with Tajiri. Because... fuck, I dunno, he's just cool I guess. I tell Jerry I changed my mind and then the next week I'm challenging Big Show for the US Title again lol. There's no rhyme or reason to anythi0.45ng, outside of linear storylines that the game tries to force you into despite itself. Compare that to like, Legends of Wrestling II which came out the year before, and yeah it was literally just you wrestling a bunch of matches in a row, but there was at least a narrator telling you why these matches are important. And don't even try to compare it to No Mercy's masterclass career mode. That's like comparing Picasso to my 7-year-old nephew's monster truck drawings. I'm sure we all had lots of fun playing this game as a kid or teenager but nothing except the graphics and CAW system have aged very well. 7.5 rounded up."

But right now I will name the pros and cons: Pros: Ragdoll Physics are cool, New match types, bigger roster (even though most of 1.89them are just copies), improved universe/MYRISE, they actually updated World Tour mode, more creation slots. Cons: Since it has just came out there are bugs, MyFaction is basically impossible with the requirements, Ringside pass is a little frustrating since you have to grind what you paid for."

To say they delivered would be an understatement. What with a stacked roster, simple, yet engaging gameplay with fun ragdoll physics, basically any match type yiu could want, and nigh infinite ways to mix and match this games seemingly endless well of content. I haven't even tapped into the absolutely legendary showcase mode, 30 years of Wrestlemania is a feat no wrestling game has or will ever touch again, especially in regards to detail. A shame 2K nor WWE games ever touched this high again afterwards, because this was lightning in a bottle in the form of a wacky wrestling game."

Netherrealm studios are notorious for not just making mediocre at best, dumpster fire at worst fighting games, but also taking cool concepts and running them through the gutter with boring gameplay, terrible lore, and performance issues. WWE Immortals was no different and I'm glad this games legacy has been all but forgotten, because it was also incredibly predatory with its microtransactions as well.
