But they are terribly overrated and have no place in discussions about the best teams in history because they have too few excellent matches and don't have very good chemistry in the ring."

But when you are doing THAT to your bodies, it's not built to last. You can't go wrong here, it's all a blast. Even if they are not your style, they will suck you in because they are that great."

They revolutionized tag team wrestling, made the ladder match what it is today, and attempted some of the most death-defying stunts we've ever seen in WWF/E. Both are well-accomplished single wrestlers as well, and it's remarkable how good Matt and Jeff still look, considering how washed other wrestlers from their era seem to look now. Also Jeff is my 2nd favorite wrestler of all time so that alone boosts the Hardy Boyz to at least a 9 in my book"

[10.0] "The Hardy Boyz are one of the most iconic and influential tag teams in wrestling history. Bursting onto the scene in the late '90s, Matt and Jeff Hardy brought a wild, high-risk style that helped define the Attitude Era and redefined what tag team wrestling could be. Their matches against Edge & Christian and The Dudley Boyz -- particularly in the legendary TLC bouts -- are etched into wrestling lore as some of the greatest ever, blending innovation, danger, and storytelling with unmatched chemistry. What truly sets them apart is their longevity and reinvention. Whether as the underdog daredevils of the early 2000s, solo stars, or reuniting across WWE, TNA, ROH, and AEW, the Hardys continued to evolve while staying true to their rebellious roots. Their 2017 WrestleMania return is one of the loudest pops in WWE history, a testament to how beloved they remain decades into their careers. They've inspired an entire generation of wrestlers and fans, transcending eras and styles."

Them being paired with Doc Hendrix is still very funny nearly 30 years later. Teenage me loved them but ahem Lita being with them might of played a considerable part in that. You can't knock their legacy though."
JackWatchesWrestling wrote on 21.04.2025:

[7.0] "A legendary tag team, no doubt, but let's be real--they've already given all they've got. It's crazy how they still act like they're young, but at what cost? At the end of the day, they leave shows in pain and take forever to recover, showing that their bodies just ain't built for this forever. There's no denying their huge impact and relevance in the tag team scene, but just because they're legends doesn't mean they gotta keep going eternally."

[10.0] "Id love to give my opinion on my favourite tag team of all time but god damn the top comments really sum up the Hardyz perfectly. This is the perfect example of a tag team that complement their strengths and cover their weaknesses. Jeff is a high flying daredevil while Matt is a technically great superstar and the fact that they've barely missed a step decades later really shows a lot when it comes to their talent and passion for the business."
TripleCrown wrote on 29.12.2024:
[10.0] "Matt and Jeff were perfect together. They both had qualities the other didn't which meant them as a tag team was the perfect combination of both their strengths and weaknesses. Had so many great matches against the likes of Edge & Christian and the Dudley Boyz. Really enjoyed their stuff from the late 90s until 01. WWE tried to bring them back again a few years later but it just wasn't the same. Tag division was dead and Jeff was already a main event guy, whereas Matt was midcard at best. Did some good stuff in the indys after, didn't see too much of their TNA work but from the little bit I saw, it wasn't exactly something great. Aside from all of that though, they will go down in history as one of the best tag teams in their era of professional wrestling."

These guys have to be a major inspiration for every tag team in wrestling right now."

Between the high spots in iconic matches and the high-flying moves that have become the norm since their arrival in the mid-90s, The Hardy Boyz are as synonymous with professional wrestling as any duo ever has been. Also on the shortlist of the GOAT discussion."

They are amazing in the ring and will pull off moves that will leave anyone on the edge of their seat - just watch their TLC match at WrestleMania 17. Time will reach these men soon but I'm shocked to see these men pull of the moves they do, especially at 46 & 43 years old. Hopefully the boyz get back together one last time in the near future."

Two real-life brothers brought completely new style to the wrestling scene. Their highflying abilities and daredevil stunts made TLC and Ladder Matches so popular. One of the most influental tag teams in history. Many great wrestlers were inspired by these two. They had a great entrance, theme, looks, wrestling style and storylines. We also have to mention Lita, who was a big part of this tag team as well. One of the greatest wrestling tags in the world."

Despite this compliment, when comparing to other great teams in the history of wrestling, they are not that good, so there's the 7/10."

People wanted to be like the Hardy Boyz, everything from their entrance and music, their unique ring attire, to their high flying wrestling style. Innovators of the latter match, as well as the likes of Edge & Christian and the Dudley Boys. In recent years, the broken gimmick gave Matt Hardy a bit of the spotlight he didn't have while tagging with Jeff in WWE, and was a good way to reinvent the team."

From Team Xtreme to the Woken Universe, they have always seemed to do their most creative work together. The TLC matches are prime examples of some of the best weapons matches of all time."
DanTalksRasslin wrote on 01.12.2016:
[9.0] "When they first began making their names in the WWF, the Hardy brothers were good representatives of a youth movement in the company and their high-flying, daredevil ring style set them apart and, along with the Dudleys and Edge & Christian - with whom they had several classic TLC matches - helped to revive tag team wrestling in the mainstream and inspire the next generation of tag specialists. In the years since, both brothers - together and apart in singles action - have had varying degrees of success in several companies and have worked through personal issues, but in 2016 proved their versatility and ability to remain relevant with a (relatively) late-career reinventing of themselves through the creativity and insanity of the "Broken" gimmick."

Mizzle Assault Ant wrote on 18.05.2016:
[7.0] "The original spotfest team? The Hardys are a team I can enjoy in the right situation but they are far from perfect. They rely heavily on gimmicks to have a great match, especially Jeff, and they are not capable of that much in terms of character or mic work. Exciting and influential team in some ways but not one of my all time favorites."
the greyspace wrote on 09.10.2015:
[0.0] "The Hardy Boyz were great back in the day, but things change. Ignoring the unnecessary title wins in their late career, ignoring the spotfest that was almost their entire career, ignoring the constant going over the American Wolves, and ignoring the arrogance, these men still manage to disrespect the industry that made them millionaires. Jeff more so than Matt, but the point stands. 0/10"
Leone wrote on 30.03.2014:
[10.0] "Over the years, there have been many exciting high-flying tag teams all over the world. But sometimes what makes certain teams most memorable is when high flying becomes their trademark in their respective company. In WWE's case, in the late 90s/early 2000s, the Hardy Boyz were THE high-flying tag team in the company. While 2 Cool were smaller, and Edge and Christian took similar risks - neither of them did the Lucha Libre and Lucharesu moves that the Hardys were doing. Particularly what Jeff was doing. It made for exciting television. Their matches were very fast, full of excellent moves, and when they took part in Ladder and TLC matches, they often stole the show with whoever they were wrestling. Other tag teams have come after them, and are performing both single and double-team moves with more twists and rotations than the Hardys did. But the Hardys' legacy remains. In a time when everybody was hardcore, the Hardys were extreme."
