[10.0] "One of if not the biggest catalyst in the Monday Night Wars, one of the most brilliant, resilient, and emotionally compelling storytellers in professional wrestling history. He successfully reinvented himself through distinct, deeply realized personas: the unhinged hardcore brawler Cactus Jack, the goofy and joyful hippie Dude Love, and the tortured, split-personality Mankind. Despite lacking a traditional bodybuilder physique, he made fans care deeply about his struggles through elite in-ring psychology and selling. He revolutionized the extreme and hardcore style, competing in brutal deathmatches and enduring legendary high-risk stunts. Peers universally respect him as a low-ego, intelligent professional who always prioritized the collective interests of the show"

Responsible for some of the most awe-, inspiring, desth deying stunts in history. Gave his all to this business and it was evident every time. Believable in the ring as well, much technically better than he's given credit for. A true legend. The hardcore legend."

Yes, from the point of view of technique in the ring, everything was not very good here. However, Mick didn't need it, he clung with his madness and ability to fully give himself into his matches. I'm sure he was ready to die in the ring. But thank God Foley decided to think with his head and end his career. But he left behind a huge legacy that can hardly be repeated."

His match with Undertaker at King of the Ring 1998 is legendary for all the right reasons. As are his matches with Triple H, Randy Orton, and Edge. I think Mick Foley helped perfect Hardcore Wrestling, with the perfect mix of brutality and weapons as well as in ring skill. Foley is Good. BANG BANG!"

I mean come on his career highlight is being thrown off the top of Hell in a Cell by The Undertaker. He's always been so overrated in the ring and can only look good when it's a hardcore stipulation or something to that nature where he has to almost kill himself to look good"

He managed to take hardcore wrestling and death match spots into mainstream wrestling and they never felt watered down, if anything Foley upped the ante. He basically gave everyone their best matches and sold and put people over and made them stars. Undertaker didn't start having great matches until Foley joined WWF. He put over Austin, Rock, Triple H, Orton and Edge and everyone looked better after (In the case of Orton and Triple H they were made men after their matches with him) Amazing promo and character work. He put his body on the line every night and we are still talking about his matches decades later. All timer."

[10.0] "Mick wasn't a great pure wrestler, but he was fantastic worker and I think too many people confuse the 2. Great wrestlers can do all the in ring stuff great and have a good match, but great workers can make you suspend your disbelief. Mick could do that. He did the hardcore stuff, but he could have a great brawl without all the smoke and mirrors. He was great on the mic and a fantastic character(s). Didn't look like a wrestler, but honestly it benefited him and made him unique. My only real issue is that an entire generation saw his style, but didn't understand what made it work. Now we have guys and gals doing hardcore spots and matches for no reason other than they think it's cool."
[10.0] "One of my favorite wrestlers of all time. He put his body on the line several times just for the love of the sport. He was a great promo and performer. You could tell how much passion this man had for professional wrestling, he's as close to perfect as you can get."

[10.0] "Mick Foley is a true legend who gave his flesh, bones & blood to this business. I don't think there has ever been someone who sacrificed their body more for professional wrestling. His love for wrestling is something tangible and visible - a man who risked his life to entertain the audience. I can't even imagine how many years that must have taken off his life. The fact that he can still stand today is almost a miracle and proof of how tough he really is. Foley accomplished huge things in WCW, ECW &WWE, and his promos during the ECW are some of the best in pro-wrestling history. His dedication is unmatched - he elevated and helped push some of the company's biggest names to the peak of their careers, including The Undertaker, Triple H, The Rock, Randy Orton & Edge. Foley is a storyteller who conveys emotion with incredible realism. One of his many talents is the way he portrayed his alter egos - Cactus Jack/Mankind/Dude Love/Mick Foley, so convincingly that each of them genuinely feels like a completely different person. Winning his first WWE Championship remains one of the most legendary moments in pro-wrestling history. Nobody can create a big spot more easily than him. The greatest bumper and one of the best mic workers of all time."

Foley knew how to put on a great match and elevate someone else's career--Orton, Edge, HHH, Austin. His TNA run was weird, but that doesn't ruin his legacy. What a legend. The streets will never forget the night he beat The Rock to win the championship. Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps as I'm writing this."

FMW, WWF, WCW, ECW, etc..! ive seen this man fight in a casino, get lit on fire multiple times, get thrown from a cell to what seemed to be his death, be mauled on by some of the stiffest strikers like terry gordy and vader. Great that Mankind held the title, albeit for a few weeks combined. Genius stick man too, his flaming branding iron anti Funk ECW promo is approaching Patrick Bateman in psychosis, contrast that with his clowning around in RocknSock. Like his great comrade Terry, a hero to millions and Foley gets top marks."

Even if my favorite styles of wrestling leans to technical matches, Foley was one of the few hardcore guys who drew my interest and I became a big fan of him. While he is not in the top 10 technical wrestlers of all time, the amount of dedication put in a lot of matches made me think that the guy could do a lot even with the limitations of the style that he wrestled. Fair to say, his movest was well adjusted, especially in the Cactus Jack pre-WWF, and he made you want to watch him. Another thing that really deserves the praise are his promos, damn man they are at the top of the industry, especially the ones in ECW when he debuted the anti-hardcore persona. The character work is legendary, you could feel that the way he wrestled, the promos and the mannerisms were totally different from one face to another. With that been said, I think a 10 would just be fair, not only based around his qualities, but because he was a key player in the WWF, and I dare to say that if AJPW has the Four Pillars in the King's Road Era, Foley is one of the pillars of the WWF Attitude Era."

He was a big, hairy everyman, and I liked that. Hardcore stipulations have always been some of my favorite, and Mick Foley was the king of those. He is so many things. Hilarious, Captivating, Tough, he is probably more successful with promos than any other wrestler ever. His willingness to do almost anything in the ring is something i have immense respect and adoration for. He's made stars out of so many people, he's had so many classic matches, and he's succeeded in just about every role and character thrown his way."

A chameleon in every sense as well, he gave each persona of his exactly what it needed--from unhinged menace to endearing everyman. He belongs on the Mount Rushmore of hardcore wrestling and on any shortlist of all-time promos; his emotional range can take you from euphoria to heartbreak in minutes. Outside of the ring, he's widely regarded as one of wrestling's kindest, most selfless figures, apparent in his willingness to sacrifice himself to elevate others even at risk to his health. History will remember him as an all-time great."

Of course, it says a lot about the awesomeness of Foley that that sometimes seems to get lost when we're talking about his career and the plethora of fantastic matches, awesome bumps, superb psychology and absolutely god-tier promos. Also, he could work heel or face with equal skill and brought a genuine sense of the unpredictable to his matches; simply put, anything could happen in his matches (and it often did). There's also how his work always allowed his opponent to flourish and get themselves over as much as possible because he was such an expert in how to best work the business of the business. Finally, it's worth mentioning that none other than Dynamite Kid, Steve Austin, Terry Funk and Bret Hart all highly praised Foley's skills as a wrestler and as a performer and you really can't get higher praise than that. It's truly earned too."

Foley in WCW and WWF was pretty good without having many great matches, his character work was the highlight of those eras for him. His TNA run... lets forget about that as it was dire stuff. A decent worker who elevated himself by 100% getting the hardcore brand and having a good creative mind. Not my favourite ever but quite entertaining especially in those Japanese deathmatch companies."

His promos were brilliant, and he had such a far range of emotions he could make you feel. If he wanted to make you laugh? Just look at Dude Love or the Rock 'N Sock Connection for example. If he wanted to make you root for him as an underdog? Look at Mankind. If he wanted to be a brilliant heel? Watch his entire run in ECW. If he wanted to scare the shit out of you? "Mick Foley is a true anomaly in the world of professional wrestling, a performer whose legacy is built on an unmatched combination of character, heart, and sheer resilience. As a wrestler, Foley may not have been the most technically polished in the ring, but that was never the point. His appeal came from his ability to tell stories through physicality, often at the expense of his own well-being. From his brutal wars as Cactus Jack to the deranged depths of Mankind and the sheer absurdity of Dude Love, Foleys ability to reinvent himself and keep audiences engaged was nothing short of remarkable. What truly elevates Mick Foley as a professional wrestler is his ability to connect with fans on a deeply personal level. His promos were masterclasses in authenticity, blending humor, vulnerability, and intensity in a way that felt completely genuine. Foleys charisma wasnt rooted in traditional wrestling tropes; it came from his relatability and humanity. Whether he was flying off Hell in a Cell or delivering heartfelt monologues, Foley embodied the soul of professional wrestlingraw, unpredictable, and emotionally resonant. Add to that his kind-hearted demeanor off-camera, and its clear that Foley wasnt just a great wrestler; he was a great person who elevated the art of wrestling itself. In every sense, Mick Foley is a legend who redefined what it means to be a pro wrestler."
