[9.0] "For me, Manders is the real king of the indies and he did it without being a known commodity from TV first. He's one of the very best in-ring with his style, he cuts a great promo when you hand him the mic, he's believable and he is completely dialled into his gimmick and it fits him like a glove. He's doing it all over the world at multiple countries' top promotions, and at least at RevPro going to war with Manders feels like a right of passage right now. Great tag team with Shire as well. Yes he's more than a bit of a Stan Hansen clone and his moveset isn't particularly innovative, and that lack of originality is mostly what stops him being a 10, but he more than makes up for it. Lovely fella as well if you get the chance to meet him."

[9.0] "The only real negative I can say about 1 Called Manders as a wrestler is that he basically took his whole shtick from Stan Hansen without being as good as him, but he does it really well anyway because who IS as good as Stan Hansen? Manders has the right look, demeanor, and stank on his offense to pull off the Southern Asskicker vibe, and nearly every time I see him work he puts in a great performance whether it's nasty brawls, hoss fights, indie-style athletic contests, or even the occasional comedy. I really do see a lot of upside in this guy, especially if he can find a truly distinct gimmick."

[4.0] "I am a big fan of Stan Hansen, too, but I've never felt compelled to cosplay as him. I find Manders fine in small doses, usually in tag team events, but I've never really enjoyed him on his own because there just isn't much there to enjoy. He's a big cowboy brawler that is frequently unconvincing and gassed out. I don't get it."

[8.0] "Manders is a big man (for the indies) who feels like a throwback to some of the bigger time brawlers. He has shown his athleticism when he needs it. He is over with ever crowd I have seen him in front of."

Hes a true workhorse, you can see how much he loves wrestling. Hes the muscle in SGC, hes everywhere on top indies shows. Seeing him in MLW is awesome. Excited to see his future. Hopefully see him in Japan and be a top gaijin like stars of old."

[8.0] "1 Called Manders is a very talented worker on the indies all over the USA, and it's no surprise, since he came out of the Black and Brave. He has a gimmick that reminds me of those AJPW gaijins from the 90s. His in-ring work is solid, and his promo skills are fine. Pairing him with Mance Warner and Matt Justice as the SGC in MLW, GCW, and Wrestling Revolver is great, those guys compliment each other so much. It's always a good show when I hear Manders' cowbell and music."

[8.0] "I'm so happy to be leaving this comment and this score. When I first saw Steve Manders in 2018, he was working a small local indy that books a lot of Black and Brave prospects. My first impressions weren't particularly great, nor did he leave me feeling much of anything, because I really just do not care about the Iowa Hawkeyes. As a local, some of that stuff just isn't for us because we live here year-round. We're not college kids. It just didn't connect. I'll even admit to being a little flippant like, "look at this dude working the ex-football guy gimmick. Ugh." I started seeing him work Revolver in Des Moines; the crew and I still haven't missed a Revolver show in DSM in about 5 years or so. *Every* time I saw him, he was better. And the gimmick was shifting. He was becoming more comfortable, more himself. Then he started to work the Cornbelt Cowboy sort of thing and it started to click with me. This dude *loves* AJPW gaijin. And while he might not be as big as a Stan Hansen, his love for that style and that product shines through. This is the tell of a hardworking, motivated professional wrestler. I cannot be more proud to leave a high score and a positive review for Steve. It helps that outside of the ring, he is one of the most humble and welcoming people you can shake hands with at the gimmick table. Getting him with Justice and Mance is just going to propel him forward, as all three of those dudes are just complete maniacs in their own individual ways. A fantastic independent hand who will drink your beer and you won't even be upset about it."

[8.0] "Total throwback with a shitload of potential, Manders fits in perfectly with the modern scene while still staying true to his old school 90s All Japan cowboy gimmick, which is something wrestling has been desperately missing. Nothing is more intimidating than a dude in chaps that can kick the shit out of you. This guy is going places."
