It's a shame that's it's only just now after his retirement that Sonjay figured out how to be a good promo, because if he had his current obnoxious weasel gimmick during his prime in TNA he could've been something really special. Instead he was always just kind of there, having really good matches but nothing super compelling story-wise. He worked best in those classic 00's TNA frantic multi-man matches but could still occasionally shine in singles matches when needed. I dunno, for one reason or another he just never really seemed to get over that hump. Not to be that guy but his ethnicity might have had something to do with it; Indian, Middle Eastern, etc. wrestlers didn't get a whole lot of opportunities back in those days outside of the last remnants of all that mildly racist carny shit that dominated wrestling for its first century. I remember it being a big deal when he finally won the X-Division title in India but then like... he just kinda lost it in less than three months so... ok? Either way, he was still stellar in the ring and it's worth checking out some of his matches on Youtube. He's also carved a very nice niche for himself in retirement as a weaselly manager, so good for him. 7.5 rounded up for his current work."

[7.0] "Sonjay has been consistently really fun to see for 20+ years at this point. Dude was a really fun flippy guy in the 2000s, with good goofy character work. And in recent years he's found second life as a GREAT weasley manager in Jeff Jarrett's little stable in AEW. I really hope that when Jarrett's group eventually folds, it won't mean the end of his screentime on AEW."

[7.0] "For near enough 20 years, I have never been disappointed to see Sonjay on my TV. From his early days on TNA when in the very least it would be fun to watch him get absolutely yeeted to now as an entertaining dishit heel who is there to be annoying and then get punched in the face."

[6.0] "Sonjay's pretty fun, but he does sometimes have a little too much energy and could benefit from calming down during his promos and segments at times. But he's had a long career, and he's now a credible manager."

In recent years he has seemingly "matured" his ring style with a greater knowledge of ring psychology as well. When he makes his annual appearances at TNA's One Night Only tapings the announcers often comment on how he's the "best X-Division wrestler to never hold the title, " and it really is puzzling as to why the company has never given him a shot at that level or, in recent years, even regularly booked him. Scheduled to be a part of the fledgling GFW promotion, and perhaps that will provide another shot at glory for him."
