Michael Nakazawa

[1.0] "Michael Nakazawa as home grown from DDT, is not anything special like his friend Kenny Omega, sorry not a fan."

[2.0] "As an comedic wrestler he can be decent, but as an overall wrestler he is just terrible and should not have a job at aew, the guy has a ton to improve inside the ring and his facial expression are just to goofy."

[2.0] "Just does not connect with me on any level. As a comedy wrestler he is not really funny to me. In the ring he is at best alright. Has not impressed me on the mic."

[4.0] "There's not much to this guy, imo. You barely even notice he's there most of the time. No real mic skills, minimal wrestling skill. Enhancement talent all the way and will never reach the main event."

[4.0] "I can only really enjoy Nakazawa if he's in a DDT, crazy location type. As a comedy wrestler with limited gimmicks, he lacked the longevity of other comedy guys like Toru Yano who are in a different league. In AEW I just cringe at seeing him, because the baby oil and other nonsense is out of place in any semi-serious contest. Good for him, finding a role backstage, but I've no idea about his future if Omega ever leaves the promotion. Props for always being willing to do the job, or take some gross bumps."

[0.0] "A "comedy" wrestler who isn't funny. Baby oil and cramming his thong into someone's throat. The Brutus Beefcake to Kenny Omega's Hulk Hogan. Never saw him in a match I liked."

[5.0] "Mostly known for having one good match with Kenny Omega more than a decade ago, Nakazawa is a fairly by the numbers early DDT comedy worker: not like recent years when DDT was known for great workrate alongside comedy, his generation was a lot more focused on shtick: fine enough by itself but gets repetitive like many workers of his kind tend to be like. He can wrestle, but the gimmick means he can very early pull it out, and these days it's obvious that he's just a vet doing jobs, partly thanks to Omega getting him in the door at AEW. He's at times funny, other times groan-worthy, but he almost always is up and ready to get over people over, which is never a bad thing. That said, he's just not very good for the limited ceiling he's always been under. Guys like Dino or Hard Gay just completely overshadow him when it comes to raw comedy work AND actual serious matches."

[5.0] "Michael Nakazawa is a rather funny at times and sort of talented wrestler. Although he isn't the most exciting wrestler in AEW for sure, his use of baby oil is rather funny at times. Aside from that thong/claw hold of his which is absolutely grotesque, he's certainly a rather enjoyable performer."

[4.0] "I'll admit, I get a kick out of Michael Nakazawa. I wouldn't want to see him on Dynamite much, if at all, but he's fun to watch on Dark. At this stage he's mostly a comedic sideshow, but he's good at it."

[3.0] "I know nothing about Michael Nakzawa except for the fact that he is Kenny's friend and likes baby oil. He's not good in the ring, I haven't heard him cut a promo in AEW yet. Just kind of a weird roster member for AEW."

[4.0] "Nakazawa is the dictionary definition of a solid comedy wrestler working at the wrong company. If this guy is working at DDT or Ganbare or something of that ilk, he's way higher than a 4."

[5.0] "absolutely ridiculous gimmick and ruins any and every match he is in. it just isn't for me. that said, he's competent in the ring and obviously has experience and knows what he's doing. I won't give him a horrible rating because that's simply not fair to his years of experience."

[5.0] "By all accounts he is doing some great work behind the scenes, but in front of the AEW camera, I am not really looking forward to watching him. Comedy acts are fine, but Nakazawa is too one-dimensional for me to really care about. He is fine in the ring and he showed some good work when teaming with Kenny Omega a while back (what should be expected, quite frankly, when teaming with one of the greatest wrestlers of this decade), but I am fine with him being mostly relegated to AEW Dark or the backstrea area."

[3.0] "Nakazawa is actually a competent worker, but as a comedy wrestler he doesn't do much for me. Not to say I'm necessarily anti-comedy wrestling ?  I've just never seen him do anything that I actually thought WAS funny."

[4.0] "Michael is basically a below-average jobber with a terrible comedy routine. He's fine as another body in the ring but those squashing him don't come out as looking any better for it and let's skip over his unfunny act. However I have to give him an extra point because despite having friends in very high places he just goes from squash to squash instead of receiving a completely undeserved push. Another reason to like Kenny Omega."

[3.0] "Abysmal comedy, baffling gimmick, mediocre skills and average look. What's to like about Michael Nakazawa?"

[3.0] "I can't get behind someone who's so overt with the comedy stuff. And I for one don't think the baby oil thing is funny to begin with. I think this brand of in-your-face comedy won't fly for too long on a national stage & it will be interesting to see how long AEW will put up with it for. Personally, I'd be more than happy for it to stay put in DDT."

[6.0] "Comedy in wrestling can be a good thing, and Michael Nakazawa knows it. Even if his repertoire is somewhat limited, he still provides Entertainment with it's oïl-based offense. He may never rise above midcard, but he does fill his purpose well."
