[5.0] "It's a shame that this match was so short. These two big monsters definitely have chemistry. But for some reason they were not allowed to show half of what they were capable of. It looked more like a trailer than a full match. **3/4"

[9.0] "SSM is one of those wrestlers whose comedy and ideas are so off-the-wall that, whether he sinks or swims, the journey to his destination is always at worst interesting. This match is, in my opinion, one of his biggest hits. This is less of a match and more of a dissertation on wrestling's 4th wall. It's silly and simple in a way that only DDT can really do, and if you are looking for something different (and understand a -lot- of Japanese), this is a super fun one. On the card it's on, it's also the first genuinely great match of the night."

[4.0] "Honda is as funny as he usually is, and he's able to get Kanon to corpse at one point, so in that light there is -something- here. But DAMNATION T.A just looked off, especially MJ Paul, who is someone I do genuinely like but here he was just very, very off on most of his spots. Chris Brookes and Kanon did their best to make sure there was... like... -some- competence on display, but two people alone cannot carry a six man tag match."

[9.0] "I love casket matches. And, without any irony, this is one of the best matches under these rules that I have seen. I've always liked Abadon. She's great when she's allowed to let loose, but Matthew Palmer was a real revelation to me. He has a cool old-school Monster Hunter gimmick backed by interesting visuals, he's good at facial expressions, and he has a really cool move set. The Living Dead Girl and Monster Hunter showed good brawling with hardcore elements. Tony Khan needs to learn how to work with talent like Abadon. For me, the time spent watching the match flew by. After all, like the audience in the arena, I was involved in everything that was happening and enjoyed every minute of the match. ****1/2"

[6.0] "Classic style over substance match that's a bit too one-sided for me. Jinsei gets big league'd for 90% of it. Muta beats the tar outta him and doesn't sell a damn thing. Visually pretty fun but functionally an extended squash match. A classic from the early YouTube era that helped create a new generation of western puro fans but it doesn't hold up on rewatch."

[6.0] "The future of Japanese wrestling is so damn bright. I imagine Kaito will end up in NJPW at some point, and with these 4 I think they can transition into a new era seamlessly. This match itself is simplistic at its core, and there are a few dull moments, but it was entertaining for nearly 30 minutes despite the inherit simplicity. Real solid stuff from the young guns all round, but not very engaging or memorable. 3.25 stars."

[7.0] "A fun match that jumped between spot after spot, with some innovative offense and indie-type high-flying throughout. This match would be a much better if the crowd wasn't so dead, but that's the life of NXT crowds these days. 3.75 Stars."

[7.0] "A heavily enjoyable tag bout, and a great NJPW debut for Wayne and Oliver. Oliver did have some weak moments, but the athleticism of the EWE carried them, while the crowd had some heavy love for MAO, who also looked great. 3.75 Stars."

[8.0] "I think this particular Shingo/Ospreay match is comfortably two steps behind the BOSJ finally match, the Dontaku match, and the G1 32 match. There's a few memorable moments, with the Table 450 spot being the best, but the ending was sudden, and Ospreay just didn't sell as much as I would've liked him too. That being said, this is still two of the best performers in New Japan, so it was never going to be bad. 4 Stars."

[8.0] "This might actually be my favourite era of Kawada, obviously hes slowed a bit but his character work and selling seem better than ever. He almost seems scared of his own brutality at the early stages, hell lash out with a closed fist strike and then be quite surprised at himself, which is a really interesting touch. This was a very hard hitting and technically sound bout, with both men focusing more on the shoot-esque grappling and sprawls, its an extremely enjoyable match which doesnt really slow down. The only criticism I have really is the constant leniency by the referee, I understand that disqualifications shouldnt really take place in this kind of bout, but Fry would choke Kawada for upward of 10 seconds before the ref even starts to count, the amount of closed fist strikes that were thrown in succession with only a mild warning. It just took me out of it a bit which is a shame considering the level of work between the two men on display."

[9.0] "Perhaps one of the greatest hidden gems on this website. Just an experience of excellent mat work, and striking, all while feeling like some blend of a MMA fight and a wrestling match. This was a Inokism-era type of match between two WRESTLERS. A UWF(i) match perhaps. It was enthralling, brutal, and nailed what both men wanted to do. GOK needs to do shit like this again. 4.5 Stars."

The match had some interesting moments, but the pace was too slow and the match itself felt like it lasted longer than it should have. The first five minutes turned out to be very boring. ***"

[10.0] "Holy fucking shit. I had no idea that 2, 000 people can sound like one of the loudest crowds I have ever heard, but this match made that happen. Of course, they are loud for a very, VERY good reason. This is once again another match of the year contender with Will Ospreay involved. I don't know how the man does it asides from being quite literally one of the best wrestlers of all time. That is by NO MEANS a discredit to Micheal Oku. He is just as incredible here, and plays such an amazing babyface in comparison to Will Ospreay's ruthless, disgusting heel work and desperation that grows as time goes on. Every move here is done to perfection, and I don't even know what I could even mention in terms of moves and spots without overshadowing so many other beautiful, incredible moments. The exchange of incredible finishers, the most insane, impossible to think of counters, the greatest near falls I have ever fucking seen, and the most satisfying payback and victory for Oku. From the get go when this match happened, I saw this rating skyrocket to one of the highest rated matches on Cagematch. While it took me a while to get around to seeing this match, I am so thankful I was able to take the time to watch this fucking stellar match. Ospreay's last match before entering AEW and such a beautiful way to end this chapter in his career, putting over Oku in the strongest way possible. Absolute fucking perfection, you need to see this match."

[5.0] "This felt like a parody of a 2010s G1 block match and for what they were looking to achieve, it went a good 5 minutes too long. Shibata, who pretty much didn't sell anything until the finish, wasn't over with this audience at all. Ospreay fluctuated wildly between overselling and fighting spirit to the point where the match never really settled into a coherent rhythm **1/2"

[8.0] "Once again another pretty good match between these two that was a bit better than their match at WrestleDream that I saw live. But again, I can't really say that this was an absolute all timer. It's very grapply, but it's not like a Battlarts or Fu-Ten or RINGS match where the grapples are insane looking, there's like one World of Sport spot that looked silly cause.. World of Sport doesn't age well in the realism department, so it's a bit hard to take seriously in a serious context. The scissoring kick battle didn't bother me that much, I still think it's weird looking. I think the first time I saw it was Giulia vs. Tam Nakano in the 5Star GP finals in 2022, and even then I wrote that it was pretty weird. The finish not being a submission victory is still so damn dumb, if there was any time to make it count, it's this match. Apparently they're not even going to do a trilogy so what's the point in both of these matches going to pinfall when we're talking about the best submission specialist in the world. Still I do like this match, I just feel like I had to point out the negative aspects of this match. This does still have hard hitting strikes and great grapple reversals. Maybe it's a bit too grounded for it's own good, but it's still great stuff. ****"

[9.0] "[4.5*] Incredible match. This was so well executed, every thing about it felt smooth and fresh. This may sound dumb but Mox did a super snap suplex on Kenny where his opponent landed exactly on the barbed-wire chair. This is a very hard spot in a very fast move so the ring awareness is insane. The sequences were amazing and the glass was very well used too. Kennys V-Trigger through the Cage may be one of the best spots in 2023, and the Don Callis turn was perfectly executed. People call this one of the best under 15-min matches in AEW history, and it surely is, but at the same time it should have been longer. 5-7 more minutes and the match would have honestly been a 5-star."

[8.0] "A hell of a match with a sour finish. Quite pointless as well as Jon Stewart wasnt even on any of the shows after this. A cheap finish to protect cena and puts a hamper on Seths big win. Unfortunate for that because before that this match was going real well and was a good clean finish away from getting at least 4.5/5 from me. Seth and cena have great chemistry and both are in their in ring peaks imo. 4/5"

[6.0] "I know they were trying to push the hell out of Stryker at this time, but wow did Jimmy Rave outperform him, it's not even funny. Rave can basically do what Stryker can do but is a little more flashy and honestly has more polish, it's no wonder in a few years he'll be in one of the top heel groups in the company. Stryker's a little more competent here than previous efforts, but still doesn't have enough to make it past midcard. ***"

[7.0] "Maybe it's because I can't stand the Special K act at this time, or that it's been a few months since Low Ki has wrestled and kicked some ass, but I enjoyed this way too much. Yeah it's got that part where Deranged fucked up and Low Ki goes to town on his ass that keeps getting demonized on twitter. Nah this was awesome, it honestly raises the match for me. I'll not that Deranged actually wasn't as botchy compared to Izzy & Dixie, he actually seemed somewhat competent in the ring. But for the last almost eight months, Special K have been a lame ass nuisances, and it was about time the World Warrior kicked their asses. ***1/2"

[6.0] "A solid match notable for being the only time a championship changed on Velocity. Both worked with a strong pace. Nunzio dominated for much of it picking London apart on the ground. When London would try to find a comeback, Nunzio would find a way to cut him off and target Londons back. Vito helped London score the win. Not quite as good as their match the week before but still solid."

[9.0] "What a formidable match this was... even more special if you consider it was a tv match, and probably one of the best tv matches of all time. Hangman had just won the AEW World Championship, and immediately feuded with one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, and the newest member of AEW roster Bryan Danielson. At the time, it was very plausible that the championship changed hands, so it's an unpredictable match, that followed, and improved, what Bryan did against Omega in his in-ring debut. This is one-hour of flawless ring work, truly, the match had no flaws when we talk about the moves and the pace, it was incredibly worked, very close to perfection. In my opinion the only thing anyone could argue here is that they could do more, and I agree, but considering what they've done, it was perfect wrestling. Bryan is just incredible as a cocky heel, my god, what a special wrestler he is, all the taunts he did were amazing, the jumping jacks, the middle finger, he was really testing and bringing Hangman into dark waters to see what he's made of. The dynamic was clear, Bryan was the experienced veteran, purposely stalling the match and underrating Hangman, and Hanger, the champion, but a young guy that is being tested all the time and at some point proves that he's a big deal... that dynamic simply don't miss. The match had some dead moments, specially during PiP, but absolutely nothing that harmed or made the match worse. When an old match makes you very nervous at the end, you know it's special, and this one did, I was sweating, those final moments were breathtaking, they were exhausted and didn't used any finisher in the whole match, because Bryan did his limb work on the buckshot lariat arm, and Hanger did his limb work on Bryan's right foot, the busaiku knee one, so the anticipation was HUGE, and that LeBell lock delivered wonders. What they did at the end reminded me a lot of Okada vs Omega II, the Dominion 2017 one, the ending was the same, probably was a homage, and that's pretty cool. This was a fantastic match with an amazing atmosphere, that only misses out to receive a perfect rating probably because they were building a rematch with that ending, so it didn't felt like a complete package, much similar to Punk vs Joe I as well - {****3/4}"

[3.0] "This match was a mess. Everything about it was a mess. First, there are botches and utterly missed moves galore. It makes the match look very sloppy and amateurish. Second, it's like the company didn't even have the foresight to give them both proper names before they got in the ring. It's almost like the commentators are being fed names to call them throughout the match as someone backstage scrambles. It's another awkward aspect. Then, the final nail in the coffin is that this is lucha action for the flash and not the fire. Lucha wrestling is amazing when it's done well and done competitively. This is the worst of lucha wrestling. It's just two guys flipping around and helping each other very deliberately do flips. It's not competitive and it doesn't look like a fight or match at all. It's more like a stage show. The athleticism saves it from being an absolute dud, but for me, there's very little about this match to enjoy."

[4.0] "Finally, the Kelly Kelly experiment ended. I don't want to disparage her, because it's clear she was trying her hardest, but her offense just looked so incredibly fake it made me cringe. This match was better than their first, but worse than their encounter the month before. Not sure why Beth of all people needed interference and a cheap shot to win. Not only was it sort of pointless, but it was awkward and took the wind out of the sails of the finish. While I appreciate the effort here, there's not much to see. A passable performance, but only just."

[9.0] "[4.75*] What a special match, man. It is so damn hard to make an 1 hour match feel great and fresh, and they sure did it. First of all, the selling from both men was fantastic. I know the idea of one guy hurting each others finisher arm or leg is cliche, so of course Hangman would target Bryans right leg (Busaiku Knee) and Bryan would targed Hangmans right arm (Buckshot Lariat), but the thing that caught my attention was how perfect the selling came out to be. You could legitimately feel the pain from these men and that is very impressive. The match is very well paced too with Bryan taunting the crowd and playing mind-games with Adam for the first few mins, playing a douchebag heel that knows he is the best (Bryan is GODLY at this role), progressing into a more serious wrestler when he realizes that Hanger was doing his strategy too and working on his legs and bumping his damaged neck and head. Then he starts to master his own strategy and targets Pages arm and neck too, with sick kicks, suplexes and submissions. I actually think he should have hit a Buckshot Lariat, it would have been pretty good psychology wise, specially if it came after a LeBell Lock. My only issue with this match was the lack of emotion and believable nearfalls at the ending. When a match is this long, usually the nearfalls are just insane on the last few mins and I was really expecting that. A single finisher kick-out for both guys would absolutely not hurt the match at all, just make it more dramatic. I value drama a lot on long matches, so it would be hypocritical of mine if I gave it the full 5 stars while experiencing this issue. Everything they did was perfect, but they could have done more in terms of big moves."

If you would have told me back in 2014 that the WWE would do a wild plunder match in the spirit of the DDT Random Location matches with the Jackass boys, I would have never believed you. [6.0] "This match really shows what Mark can do with a good opponent and a story to sink his teeth into. So often he's thrown together with other big guys. But give him someone who can sell for him and move around him like Randy, and you get a very good match. What I loved is how the crowd here seemed to appreciate Henry being such a veteran and finally getting a spot on top. He's the clear heel, but just out of pure respect, he gets a great ovation when he wins. Orton is incredibly giving here to get Henry over, but the match is competitive enough that Henry has to show some resiliency too. This is one of Orton's best matches when it comes to him getting someone else over. I was close to giving this 7 points, but Henry's offense is just to slow and lacks variety. If his moveset had more creativity of any kind; even a larger variety of styles of slams; I think this would have been so much better. Still, this is a very good match for sure, and Henry deserved this win and his time on top. He was on fire during this time and earned every second of his celebration."

[8.0] "One of the best TV matches of the year, (along with FTR v. BCG) and a showing that did not disappoint. Omega, while he's aging, is his usual fantastic self, and MJF proved why he's on the top of AEW right now. They start with a bit of showmanship before getting into some nice technical stuff, and then they start hitting bombs. The apron snapdragon, the gut-wrench powerbomb onto the table, a couple of brutal V-Triggers, the Panama sunrise, MJF hitting what looked like Takagi's Made in Japan, and more. The moves were there, they sold everything fantastically, and they had the crowd in their hand the whole time. MJF won fairly clean as well, which was a surprise, but Callis coming out helps Kenny continue that story. Probably not a MOTYC, because not everything was perfect, but man, it was really good. Hope we see a rematch on PPV at some point soon. EDIT: 4.25 Stars."

The dropkick in the corner, the strikes, and his patented rope running are all electric stuff. Of course, having Ishii as a opponent is a perfect opportunity to showcase some good 'ol fighting spirit, and a hot Kourakuen Crowd is maybe the perfect environment for your first big singles match, but Newman ran with all of it (pun intended). Can't believe I'm saying this but, this was damn good. EDIT: 4.25 Stars."

[10.0] "Out of all of the singles matches these two have had together, this is by far the best. This just had the big fight feel, with both men now being megastars and the atmosphere treated them as such. And you know these two put on a banger match, where Okada took the win."

[9.0] "The match of the night in my opinion, this was awesome. Really well-delivered slugfest, with a lot of powerful moves. The beginning was kind of slow but then the match progressed into a very captivating and interesting battle... they brought the crowd to their feet as well. Incredible spots, stiff and hard-hitting moves and memorable moments like Kitamiya being busted open after a headbutt. What a great way to start 2024 - {****1/2}"

[8.0] "A very good match between two favorites of mine on the indies currently and in AEW. Some great striking as expected from these two. Some shenanigans with the referee although Bryan hopping over the ref to set up the Tiger Driver was cool. The match heated up more following the ref bump. Hope Anthony Henry has a safe and speedy recovery as a broken jaw sounds awful."

[7.0] "Thy used a lot of tables and was entertaining and I like the moves such as the tornado ddt and it was fast pace and didn't get bored could've been 8/10 if the underdog Tanaka won. Risky moves like jumping over the rope when Tanaka was already on the ground was not good."

[7.0] "A highly-anticipated match between Swerve and Takeshita, this one was good but also had weird dynamics a lot of times. I think Takeshita was great, a lot of stiff moves, loud moves, that felt extremely real and engaged the audience. But Swerve lacked some proper selling, he sold 2 or 3 moves poorly, and also delivered an awkward hurricanrana. The last few minutes were incredible and breathtaking, probably 5 star level, that was awesome, so many sequences and bumps to the head, it was phenomenal, but the whole stuff was just ok, above the average - {***1/2}"

[6.0] "[3.5*] Very interesting match, with very good pacing, Statlander and Willow did a good job and Willow's Doctor Bomb to win the match was incredible as was the Driver she did on Skye Blue at Apron. Willow very much deserves this victory and enjoys a run with the title."

[5.0] "Pretty much the same old AEW tag match that doesn't respect the rules and don't have a lot of logic applied, but delivered some good moves and good spots. I don't think this one was bad, but also didn't delivered much stuff - {**1/2}"

[6.0] "[3.5*] This match was fun, I liked the dynamic they had at times. Kassidy and Queen's teamwork was really good, I liked the Omega sequence they did, with a moonsault and a 450 splash. The ending was an unfortunate botch with the bucks slipping during the EVP Trigger, even so the match was cool."

[8.0] "[4.5*] Very fun match, AEW's ranking allows us to have matches like these on a simple weekly show, although the level of the show wasn't good, the main event was incredible. Two spectacular athletes, who will be the future of AEW and who managed to deliver a very good match. The exchanges between them were great, Take and Swerve's counters at the end were good, Take reversing a Strickland dive into a powerbomb was good and Swerve's final sequence was insane, the head kick plus Swerve stomp was spectacular and even so Takeshita kicked out. The ending to the match was great, really a hell of a match."

[8.0] "[4.5*] Shibata did really well here, he counterattacked and was a step ahead of everything Ospreay did, he reversed almost everything, besides his kicks being great, Shibata simply has a special aura. When Ospreay finally got a straight, Shibata simply wouldn't sell Will's chops and still kicked out at one. Ospreay's Hidden Blade when Shibata was in his meditation position was incredible, a very good match and Ospreay has been incredible in this babyface run in AEW."

[6.0] "Another good match here between the women's, much better than what we usually get, if we speak about average. This one had a good dynamic, and a fluid style, with a fine amount of good moves. It's interesting that Mercedes is having this angle to kick-off her things in AEW - {***}"

[7.0] "[4.0*] Incredible match, Bron Breakker and Baron deserve all the praise for the work they've been doing as a tag, they're the best in NXT and one of the best in all of WWE this year. Bron Breakker is a physical phenomenon and his athleticism is bizarre, with each match I become more certain that he will be the future of WWE. I liked the exchanges between Bron and Tozawa, Akira sold Breakker's power punches well. Corbin and Bron's super powerbomb on Otis at the announce table was incredible, as was Bron's spear on Tozawa, but the big spot of the match was Bron Breakker's reverse on Tozawa during a Doomsday Device, insane stuff and insane match."

[3.0] "[1.75*] Boring ass match, the Lariat that Briggs used to beat Hudson here was ridiculous. The match was uninteresting and boring with a few moments that really stood out. Josh Briggs' matches have been boring for some time now, without a doubt he's a guy who's more suited to tag team dynamics."

[4.0] "[2.25*] I think WWE can do a good job with Natalya in NXT, she can use her experience and technique to help some young NXT talents develop. Lola Vice needs more technique, and expedition, which was clear here, despite being talented she still has some leaps to make to become NXT champion."

[6.0] "[3.5*] This match was better than I expected, Spears' chops on Dijak were good, Dijak responded with good chops too, unfortunately Spears no longer has the athleticism to play a more intense match, and I feel like that was lacking a little at times.. Spears' kickout of Dijak's Chokeslam was very surprising, yet Dijak managed to win in a good match."

[8.0] "This was a very good match, but unfortunately happened in front of a bad crowd, these guys truly didn't understood the moment they were witnessing, and the general audience probably didn't as well, considering a huge amount of people turned the tv off mid-match, per today's quarter hours. It was nice that this was wrestled under Shibata-style, and we didn't had the same Ospreay match again, I enjoyed more the way it happened, but some executions could be better, like the kickout at 1 by Ospreay... the first one worked, because Shibata is a badass and all of that, but the second didn't - {****}"

[6.0] "[3.5*] This match has one of the stupidest booking decisions I've ever seen. The match had several interesting things and cool spots, Lesnar dominating the beginning of the match, Rollins and Owens teaming up against each other and doing some very good team work, Lashley's spear on Lesnar on the barricade and Big E breaking Lashley on the announce table . The action in the ring was frenetic, for me, without a doubt the best of the match was Kevin Owens, his work here was very good. The ending will always be stupid to me, Lesnar could have won, but what's the reason to make the champion get the pin? And why did he lose so easily? These are things that just don't make sense, WWE totally killed Big E's momentum in this match, even though the action in the ring was good I can't like it."

[8.0] "A very good fight to be an opener, where Will Ospreay gets the win in a kind of "revenge" after so long without fighting between the two of them, still great fight because even serving little more than a victory for Ospreay at least it was very good to be in a weekly episode."

[9.0] "[4.75*] Incredible match, Suwama and Tanahashi's work was insane, especially everything Tanahashi did at the end, doing dragon suplex and his High Fly Flow while Suwama kicked out everything. The end was very emotional and intense, both were tired but simply doing their best, the exchanges between them were fantastic and Suwama's Powerbomb to win was incredible, what a match."

[7.0] "[3.75*] Excellent match, what incredible exchanges Tenryu and Flair had. The first fall was slower but with many exchanges of chops and slaps between Tenryu and Flair, when Tenryu managed to apply his Piledriver, he scored the first pin. The second fall is very good too, Flair dominates much more and gets the victory after a Figure Four Leglock on Tenryu who, after resisting for a few minutes, tapped out. The last drop is the shortest of all. The ending of the match was extremely confusing, and caused her to lose points, but overall it was a good match."

[8.0] "[4.25*] This match is so good, Savage did incredible character work here, starting the match with his taunts and using Miss Elizabeth to his advantage at times, Savage used his tricks to his advantage, while Tenryu was incredible too. The conduct and story of the match was wonderful, Savage dominated and Tenryu's reaction and victory with the powerbomb at the end was impeccable, the crowd's reaction was insane, what a match."

[7.0] "[3.75*] Very interesting match, Inoki did very well in this match, his technique was incredible, he carried the match in a very good way. Hogan was a perfect heel here, his in-ring performance wasn't great, with some botches and bad executions but the pop he generated at the end was great. The crowd was going crazy screaming for Inoki, who didn't respond and Hogan wins after knocking out his opponent, good story and good match."
