[10.0] "Probably my favorite MJF performance ever along with the iron man match. Everything he does in this match is on my point from his heel work to his athleticism and overall wrestling. He took the tiger driver 91 like an absolute mad man. And Ospreay is Ospreay, the best wrestler of this decade"
[9.0] "Before I say what I say. This is a great match but it's clear they were aiming for a MOTYC which I understand. 2 huge stars in the biggest show of the year and I'm glad Ospreay won here. I feel like it could've been better but I was still satisfied with what we got."

[10.0] "[4.75*] this was an incredible match, but i don't think this didnt hit like the one on dynamite, not going 5-stars just like that one. This Was The Match Of The Night Before The Main Event to be honest, Having Garcia cost MJF makes sense since MJF took him out in the past. This Had A Big Match Feel As Ospreay winning with the Tiger Driver is what I said should happen because if he won with another move it wouldn't be as impactful as winning with the Tiger Driver move that was a big part of the story going into this match. As Ospreay Restored The International Championship, This Proves That Ospreay Is Right About Restoring The Feeling In AEW During This Match."

[9.0] "This was a really fun and competitive match, some cool spots like MJF hitting a cross rhodes, panama sunrise. I do think it went a little long but thats my only complaint Ospreay sells his neck well MJF undoing was a returning Danny Garcia which lets Ospreay hit a hidden blade and then finally hit the tiger driver '97 after not using it since his match with Danielson"

[5.0] "A dumb setup for this one. MJF's shtick makes sense in London against the British wonderboy, Ospreay. But the whole lead-up to it being in the USA garnered Max so many cheers; it was ridiculous. The match itself wasn't nearly as bad. Even if I'm not the biggest MJF fan, his more grounded approach made sense here. Hell, even a move so over the top and ridiculous as the Canadian Destroyer on the apron made some sense since he was targeting Will's neck. Ospreay is still not my cup of tea, though. The usual routine of bumping around and selling well when on his back foot (which I like), just to then execute his big moves without nearly any struggle (which I don't care much for). The ref bump that led up to Garcia's involvement is a slight negative, even if I like the guy."

Some would probably even rate it a perfect five, and I wouldn't argue with you, either. The fight was that damn good. You'd expect nothing less from the two involved. Part of me thinks that I only rated it four-and-a-half stars because I wanted MJF to win (I was actually a fan of the American Championship belt- and gimmick). Had it not been for the main event, I would've called this the match of the show (after Toni/Mariah, of course)."

Both entrances were sick, with the Will Assassins Creed one being one of the best in 2024, which made me very locked in the match. They of course took some nasty bumps and the selling surprised me, it was pretty good from both guys. The ending with the Tiger Driver set the arena on fire and as much as I am not a big fan of the story, I have to recognize that it worked to create an awesome Wembley Moment."

This match was less of a slog than their near-hour draw but it was still a lot of their worst tendencies on display here. I have no idea why this suddenly became about Daniel Garcia. I mean I know the reason is MJF but it was an astoundingly lame ending to the match."

[9.0] "Hockey fight to start out, both guys trading rights, MJF pokes Ospreay in the eye, Ospreay sends MJF to the outside, and then hits a big crossbody over the top rope. Ospreay goes for a springboard but gets pulled off the ropes by MJF, Ospreay gets a boot to MJF, then hits a Sasuke special. Ospreay already teases the hidden blade, MJF ducks it, hits Ospreay in the back of the head then rakes Ospreays eyes. MJF works over Ospreay outside, then hits the Samoa Joe high boot to Ospreay while hes sitting on a chair in front of the guardrail. Ospreay runs at MJF and he hits a huge back drop on the outside, MJF goes and rolls Ospreay into the ring and pins him, kick out almost immediately. MJF and Ospreay go back and forth, MJF hits some good backbreakers/powerbombs on Ospreay. Ospreay hits a step up enziguiri on MJF, teases the Oscutter but cut off by MJF. MJF teases the Kangaroo Kick, hits the dropkick on Ospreay, does the kip up. MJF goes for the salt of the earth, pushed off by Ospreay who then hits a big flying forearm off the springboard on MJF. Ospreay dances around MJF but then is cut off by a simple eye rake. Ospreay does some kung fun shit and then hits some of his signature running offense. Ospreay hits an awesome standing black arrow it looks like, then goes for another Sasuke special to MJF on the outside. Its not clean but actually it makes it look even better, as MJF reverses the Sasuke special into a tombstone piledriver. MJF hits an awesome springboard moonsault but lands on his knees, then Ospreay hits a Spanish fly on the ground to MJF. Really good shit. Ospreay hits a shooting star press on MJF while hes draped over the ropes, really good shit. Pins MJF but kick out at two. Fun match so far, great pacing. Ospreay goes for a Storm Breaker but its reversed into a Cross Rhodes by MJF, kick out by Ospreay at two. Theres been two counts but no real false finishes yet. Brain buster reversed into a stung by Ospreay, he hits the Oscutter, kick out by MJF on the pin by two. Ospreay hits an Oscutter on MJF from the top rope, but MJF gets his foot on the rope to get out of the pin. Ospreay tries to get MJF up but cant hit the stormbreaker after a couple times, MJF counters it into a piledriver, kick out by Ospreay at two. Ospreay hits a thrust kick on MJF, they trade offense, Ospreay reverses a lariat beautifully into a stormbreaker, MJF kicks out. Ive forgotten about the tiger driver entirely until now, but Ospreay hasnt yet teased it in the match. Fans start to chant Tiger Driver in the crowd. Ospreay tases the hidden blade but MJF just rolls out of the ring. Ospreay rolls to the apron and then goes for the oscutter but MJF just evades it by falling back, Ospreay hits his shoulder hard on the apron. MJF hits a Long Island sunrise on Ospreay on the apron, he rolls to the ground as MJF rolls into the ring and tells the ref to count to ten. Ospreay rolls in just before 10. MJF goes for the salt of the earth, thats reversed by Ospreay who then finally hits the Oscutter on the apron to MJF. Ospreays been selling the shoulder for a while, and every move he hits offensively hes selling as being particularly brutal for him. MJF is already selling the neck and the back, which sets up well for the tiger driver, and Ospreays shoulder is selling the inevitable armbar. MJF ducks out of the way as Ospreay goes for the hidden blade on MJF, so Ospreay instead hits a cameraman and totally takes him out. MJF grabs the belt and Ospreay avoids it, hits a thrust kick, but MJF then hits him with the belt as Ospreay goes for a hidden blade. MJF then MJF hits a brainbuster, Ospreay kicks out at two. Ospreay ducks some MJF offense and then hits a double axe handle on MJF that sends him into the ref who tumbles to the ground. MJF then bites Ospreay in the face and teases the Tiger Driver on Ospreay. Ospreay tries to get MJF in the Tiger Driver but hesitates for a moment and MJF hits Ospreay with a low blow. MJF takes out some sort oft of brass knocks. BUT DANIEL GARCIA INTERFERES and stops MJF from being able to use it. Ospreay hits MJF while hes distracted with a hidden blade. Picks up MJF, brings him up for the Tiger Driver. AND DROPS MJF ON THE BACK OF HIS FUCKING HEAD. HITS THE LOOOONG THREE COUNT ON MJF. OSPREAY WINS. GREAT SHIT! Loved it all! Daniel Garcia comes back, Ospreay wins at Wembley, hits the Tiger Driver. Just really loved it. Ospreay wont touch MJFs belt, so Christopher Daniels comes down and gives the original belt back to Will Ospreay. Good wrestling show shit. 10/10"

[3.0] "These two are a terrible matchup for each other in that both of their preferred styles of match are a wanky 50/50 highlight reel about how strong and fast and cool and tough they are. Ospreay is obviously the poster boy for that but MJF really tries to match him - there's a moment where he yells "Anyone can do a flip, bitch! " which played on my mind when he was later doing a fucking apron Canadian Destroyer off the top. I'm sure MJF constantly contradicting his own character is probably meant to be part of his tortured anti-hero thing that he thinks he's cooking with gas with but that does not exactly move me. Easiest story ever here of a snivelling cheap heat bozo against the flashy hometown hero but they're both flashy, they're both chaining fancy sequences together, so what are you actually meant to give a shit about? Ah well, points for a good atmosphere. Garcia showing up was neat, it popped me in the stadium anyway. The Tiger Driver finish is fun for two seconds before you remember how dumb that angle was for ever existing. (*3/4)"

[8.0] "I'm not quite sure why this match doesn't quite feel like it holds up to the standards of my favourite matches from either guy. Something about the match structure I think was off, leaving it at times feeling slow and at times awkward, and slightly off-kilter emotionally. Both men's athleticism is on display here, you are still going to watch some cool stuff, and the Tiger Driver stuff works reasonably well. But it didn't engage me as well as the MJF vs Garcia match following up at All Out or the Fletcher vs Ospreay match at Full Gear did as some alternate examples."

[8.0] "Overeating this a little because I was there, there's quite a bit of no selling here, but I remember absolutely adoring this in the stadium and I still loved it watching it back. MJF losing because he tried to outflip Ospreay, and playing to the UK crowd by going full Real American is so clever. Not one of Ospreay's best performances, but he told an effective story regarding the Tiger Driver, and while the finish was predictable it worked for me. Nice to see Garcia back too."
forgottenname wrote on 24.12.2024:
[6.0] "It was so strange, because I thought that MJF could stop Osprey a little in his desire of making epic matches using one structure, but MJF just forgot about it. He accepted the rules of the game and start make athletic perfomance for nothing too. Wembley was on fire and I understand why, but I so tired of this epic trowing bombs in EVERY MATCH from Will. Forget about selling, about story, about structure, about moves which don't look cool enough to make a many GIFs with. I respect this level of athletism, but it's not what I really wanna see nowadays in every Osprey's match."

ArchCarts wrote on 28.11.2024:
[8.0] "I feel like these two are the perfect foil for each other. Although I didnt like how the heel turn came about, you cant deny that MJF is at his best when he is in this role. The whole American Champion stuff was just gold and is a period in his career that he can look back fondly on. It was awesome to see Will Ospreay get his moment in front of the London crowd, as he casually pulled out an entrance of the year contender. For me, this match made up for their previous one on Dynamite, which I really wasnt a fan of."

MJF is hit or miss for me in terms of the quality of his matches and here is a little miss, not that much sinergy between the two and spots that seem like just different pieces in movement glued with not much care."
Judestar wrote on 06.11.2024:

Even then, this meandeared in a lot of the same ways as their hour long Dynamite match, with way too much lifeless overbooking in the finishing stretch. Mediocre match and mediocre feud."

Ospreay was impressive in the ring as always, while MJF played his heel role to perfection. The crowd was invested throughout, and the final seconds of the match were thrilling.""

[9.0] "Great match. It was one of those matches that checked all the boxes for being an all time classic but felt short. maybe it was the build-up, maybe it was the predictable ending but it was missing something. It was still a great match with plenty of eye pleasing action between two of the best in this generation. Both Ospeay and MJF were great here, they worked their butts off but the Atmosphere here wasn't red hot as it should have been, the narrative was uninspiring and boring and the chemistry just felt off. We also had the Garcia cameo, the interference was logical but it wasn't really a big moment like it should have been. Overall, a little bit of an unispiring spin on what should be AEW's most prolific rivalry but the action was spectacular and hopefully there is more spark and heat, between them the next time they meet. ****1/2"

[9.0] "This match was electric. I like how despite being sponsored by Assassins Creed, Ospreays win felt well earned and the crowd was insanely hot. MJF also had a great showing here. He truly fits a patriotic hero role and he hope this isnt the end of USA MJF. In terms of work rate, these two clearly have built off the chemistry in their first match. They mix so well, this match is easily better than the top rated match on Cagematch. That fraud of a wrestling match was much slower and a lot worse than this match. MJF shows hes the best heel in AEW and Ospreay proves hes deserving of the intercontinental title, maybe even a shot at the world title?"
MoistestAlou wrote on 09.10.2024:
[8.0] "An interestingly-paced match with both guys kinda emptying the arsenal on each other, which was certainly entertaining but maybe lacking some emotion in the early going. Retained strong crowd heat throughout with the dynamic between the two. I thought the streamer malfunctions after MJF's entrance created a bit of a distraction at times but after most of the offending pieces had been removed it was fine. From the Hidden Blade on the cameraman onward the intensity really went up a notch for a very strong finish and an effective reveal of Daniel Garcia. Two very polarizing figures in professional wrestling for sure but I think they delivered here."

MJF gave one of his best recent performances here and Ospreay was spectacular as expected. Both had amazing in ring chemistry and worked flawlessly against each other. I'll cut this review of, because I am at risk of repeating myself. But this was an incredible bout and an EASY 10"

[10.0] "Match of the Night in my opinion. Pageantry was amazing, MJF's entrance was totally excessive just like his character and the American Champion should be and Ospreay's Assassins creed tie in, which would usually make my skin crawl, suited him perfectly. Ospreay got great babyface fire and was nothing short of spectacular athletically and he told the story of a hero scared of his own power very well. MJF also as usual played role of the heel perfectly, one could make the argument (and a lot do) that he's so good at being a heel that it does a complete 180. Both men came out looking phenomenal and adding Daniel Garcia to the mix is surely gonna lead to a great program with him and MJF. 5 stars"

I understand why they did that to make Daniel Garcia return but I'm kind of tired of the abundance of overbooking in wrestling today. The story wasn't hot enough (because of MJF's dumb American gimmick, from which he did the best he could) to justify this booking. I think Ospreay could've won without the Tiger Driver and they should've kept this story for the world title race. Overall, a great match but I'm not fan of how it was done."

And even when we did have some downtime, MJF made sure to spent it to piss everyone off. I thought the match would be built around Ospreay's hesitation to hit the Tiger Driver, but instead we had MJF trying to escape it at all costs, which I am glad they did that, as that story was past overdue. Garcia showing up was icing on the cake and a rare moment in modern wrestling where you couldn't know for sure if it can happen until it did. Ospreay winning the title back was great to see and it's a nice moment for Will to have in his home."

[8.0] "Great match. Efficiency (3) - some needlessly long double downs early. Way too much double down time overall. I think this comes from Ospreays time in NJPW. You have to sell big sequences, but laying there flat isnt "selling". Id like to see more motion and active selling. Execution (4.25). Everything looked really good as you'd expext from these two. I do wish Ospreay would learn to slow down on big sequences later in matches (see HBK or Misawa) to sell exhaustion while on offense. Immersion (3.5). Some inconsistent selling but both kept the body lanuage and facial expression intensity throughout. Story (4) good story of MJF being fine trying to break Ospreays neck when Ospreay has been hesitant. Then Ospreay hitting MJF with the Tiger Driver to end it. I do think it went overboard with a few things like the tombstone on the floor. At some point the amount of damage reaches farce and takes you out of the story. Intangibles (4) Hot crowd and environment. Both guys have presense and unique personalities and traits. Overall (4)"

Daniel Garcia is awesome. Givin the situation as this being built as the 2nd best match it perfectly filled that role by being a spectacular match while not outshining the main event that had to be given the spotlight considering what was at stake."

The entrances were extremely cool and the atmosphere was excellent, the match had a lot of good moves, and I was happy to see Daniel Garcia returning. I don't think the story was developed to a satisfactory level, especially with the weird patriot stuff, and the Daniel Garcia involvement. I understand Garcia is tied to this storyline, but I think saving his return for the next Dynamite would have stopped this match from getting too close to being overbooked. A great match, with a great finish, and a great conclusion to the Tiger Driver 91 arc. Can't wait to see what these two do next time they lock up."
