[7.0] "Kinda lacks a third act in favor of the MJF thing (which really works after the match), but the final Hidden Blade was beautiful. Ospreay legitimately launched at Danny like a fucking cannon. I dug their chemistry though it was pretty refreshing seeing Danny counter Ospreay's speed with slick reversals. Like when Ospreay was trying to escape the leg lock around his head and Danny hit him with that short-form piledriver. Good main event and also excellent closing segment. ***1/2"

[4.0] "[2.0*] From the matches I saw, this was the undisputed worst of them. Like, incomparable with the opener and the JJ one. The thing is: Will is perfect at his formula. Yes, it is true. I find his formula perfect? No. But for what it is supposed to do and make, it works perfectly for him. In every arena, with every fan, he is always the most over one. This time, he tried something different. For the first time on his AEW career, he tried to do something else and did some control segments on Danny on the 1st half, and well, it absolutely fucking stunk. The crowd was dead-ass silent, the chemistry was completely off, the work felt strange, it had no aura or some other word that could describe it, it was just pretty damn bad. I was praying to God for a Super Avalanche Oscutter or something to come from the heavens out of nowhere and save us. Gladly, it happened. Not an Oscutter, but a Spanish Fly, that actually works for the job. From this point on, the crowd magically got alive and the match just ruled. The chemistry that was super off became good, the silence from the crowd became chants and a boring-ass match became a battle for the belt. Like magic. I really hope they run it back without this bullshit where Will looked like Jake Lee from NOAH during his GHC Title reign and the match will rule. The ending was.. yeah, it helped the Max turn (which was phenomenal). Thankfully the show was so amazing that my disappointment with this match (that I was very excited for) did not take anything from my experience. 10/10 show!"

[5.0] "I wasn't personally amused by this match, just like the Swerve match at Forbidden Door, the beginning was weird, had nothing interesting going on, the crowd was quiet, it was a vacuum of ideas, Ospreay tried to bully Garcia, just like everyone does, but he was so much worse than other people, he couldn't make the psychology interesting at all, and then in the ending stretches the match improved, we had some interesting transitions and reversals, Danny refused to use MJF's ring, and took a hidden blade out of nowhere. The psychology didn't brought me into the match here, the technical stuff was good, best part of the match, but there wasn't a single moment where I thought Garcia could win the match - {**1/2}"

[8.0] "Great match. The ending was amazing. Daniel Garcia is one of the best wrestlers in AEW; he's great both in the ring and as a character. It won't be long until he gets some gold. The post-match segment was crazy. It's so good to see this MJF back."

Good way to end the show even though I feel like both could do more. Or maybe I simply expected to much. Still a fun and entertaining match with a good showing by Garcia!"

Kadenftw wrote on 09.07.2024:
[7.0] "A solid TV main event that didn't quite reach the ceiling I had expected. The ring element does bring it down quite a bit for me as Garcia hadn't really shown any heel tendencies leading up. Hoping we get a straight-up singles match with Red Death instead of dancing DG. ****"

[4.0] "This was not as egregious as some Ospreay matches but I was still not feeling it very much. I like Garcia and thought he did well but you can really only have one kind of match against Ospreay and it's just not what I love to see. Major groan from me to yet again use the trope where one guy has to ponderously consider cheating, taking a long break from the match to stare at something and wonder about making the choices of their life differently. The post match was great but the match itself was just another usual Ospreay showcase. I did laugh at Garcia doing his taunt into Ospreay's ear though."

[7.0] "This was a solid match, though I'm a bit conflicted in my feelings on the aftermath of the match. Either way, this was very good and Garcia's performance helped legitimize him as a main event player even though I don't completely buy him in that role yet."

[9.0] "Very good TV match that accomplished the goal. Daniel Garcia felt like legit main event guy in this match and delivered big time. I love the finish with MJF trying to convince him to use ring and he ends up getting smoked with a hidden blade. Overall great match and even better post match angle."

[9.0] "idk where this story came from because it does legit feel like out of no where aew decided to know how to build and create a new hot and fresh babyface. Because this is something that they have consistently proven that this is something that they have not been able to do what so ever. But im happy that now they are trying. If they continue this up with danny garcia though thats the true test actually continuing to keep us interested and feeling sympathy for the guy. So far its a great start having him put in an incredible match with the best in ring wrestler in the world come up just barely due to the guy who eventually brutally kills him after the match. This was awesome the match was great you feel for danny and have emotion for him threw the match and then especially after the match when the greatest heel of are generation mjf makes his return and i could legit not be any happier. Ive been missing full on douchey heel mjf hes a great babyface but legit doesnt compare to him as a heel. Now this saturday on collision we just need to know the why and know why he did this know why out of no where he decided to kill daniel garcia. This was freaking sensational"

[10.0] "Rated together with post-match angle which it set up. Still, the match itself was amazing and as he often does, Will Ospreay made me doubt the obvious result as they went on with his selling after Garcia hit him with some of the crispest neckwork ever."
JoeyBingBong wrote on 04.07.2024:
[7.0] "I'm slightly torn on this. I'm not convinced that AEW's presentation of Garcia is a winner, continually framing him as a gutsy, naive underdog. On the other hand, Ospreay is a great in-ring bully, but that isn't what the AEW audience wants from him right now. As a result, this arrives with some flaws, including a very mixed reaction to Ospreay's early dominance. Thankfully, the later fireworks get this over the line, with some prior details playing their own part in fairness. It's a good match, but not much more than that for me, which is a little surprising considering the matchup's potential. Nonetheless, it is the match that suited the story being told, setting up Dynamite's hot closing angle. ***1/4"

ArcadeInferno wrote on 04.07.2024:
[6.0] "This was ok although I don't think Daniel Garcia is someone anyone envisioned beating Ospreay and I'm not sure he was the best pick for MJF to go after for a heel turn but it was still fine."
GoldLiger wrote on 04.07.2024:
[7.0] "A solid TV main event, very much an Ospreay match against a guy who is more grounded which means it didn't have so much flash, but Danny's super solid offense (loved his guillotine and piledriver) and oddly compelling charisma brought it up for me. I really only cared about this when Garcia was making comebacks, Will trying to taunt him didn't do anything for me and getting blindsided into a 3-count was a bit lame, but that Hidden Blade did look SICK compared to usual at least. The post-match angle though was absolutely excellent, and the crowd being so behind Garcia elevated this. ***1/2"

[8.0] "In a vacuum this was a good match. Daniel Garcia is consistently growing as a tv performer and he's not far away from being top tier in that regard. Ospreay is an incredible talent. These 2 will have better matches in the future I suspect, which is saying something. The story of Max's involvement and the follow up angle were tremendous. Heat has returned to the AEW main event scene."

[8.0] "Both wrestlers here managed to have a good match while telling a great story that feeds into the narrative arc for each character involved (which includes MJF). And since the booking outcome didn't seem pre-ordained, they were able to sell some near-falls and reversals in effective ways. This was a very good TV-level main event that helped set up a big MJF angle for All In."

[8.0] "This was a more than good main event, with really nice speed and athleticism on display. Ospreay looked great here, he was crazy smooth with his offence (especially that floatover powerbomb), but it was a bit of strange character choice to be so cocky coming into this one and in moments in the match (although the Kawada Kick Face Hump spot genuinely made me chuckle). Garcia also had a great performance, he showed some really nice fire, and there were a couple of moments where I really thought he had it won! The piledriver nearfall in particular was super close! There were a couple of downsides though, I thought there was a bit too much focus on MJF, and the finish with the ring felt a little too similar to Ospreay's own angle at Forbidden Door (but that Hidden Blade looked awesome). I should've seen the post-match coming, but honestly I was a little surprised they turned MJF heel again. It's an interesting choice, but hopefully Garcia will get something out of a feud with MJF. All in all, it was a good way to end the show (even if the stretcher job was a little OTT), and I'm hopeful that Garcia can get a W over MJF and cement his spot in the upper echelons of AEW."

[7.0] "Great storytelling and obviously they held back as two of this talent could give more but that was very acceptable for this chapter of the story and the coming weeks would be very progressive and additive for the big match at Wembley"

[7.0] "I don't get the low rating on here honestly, I thought this match was really good. There were too many false finishes and the pacing was a little off but this was still a good match. It started well with some nice chain wrestling and picked up momentum with Ospreay hitting a pescado. He then started to act heelish towards Garcia who delivered a fiery babyface performance throughout the whole match. He hits various neckbreaker and does his dance in Ospreay's face twice. Ospreay hit a styles clash and Garcia hit a piledriver for two nearfalls. MJF tried to get Garcia using the ring but DG refused but the distraction caused him to lose as Ospreay hit a flying hidden blade for the win which was nice to see being used as a proper finisher. Crowd was into it, the wrestlers had good chemistry and the action was fun. Nice main event. 7/10 - 3.75*/5*"

[5.0] "This match was really hard to watch, the worst match i've ever seen from the "Billy goat", ospreay just doesn't know how to work without his formula, he dominating Daniel Garcia was the weakest that ever made it, if you take examples from other matches that Danny got (vs Bryan/vs mox/vs kingston) they used the same mold and was used for perfect storytelling, in this match it was ridiculous until the second act that is ospreay saying "fuck it" and using his 5 star chaser formula, that made the match finally consumable but doesn't transform automatically into a good match [2.75*]"
ZFIELD wrote on 04.07.2024:
[7.0] "Thought this was really solid and the post-match segment added some lasting consequences to this match and this story. Firstly Garcia was excellent, his laser focus on the neck gave this match its throughline, one which made a lot of sense after the offense Ospreay took at Forbidden Door. Will to his credit did enough to keep this match believable, he toned down some of his inexcessaries and delivered some real great-looking strikes and blows switching from an intimidating main eventer pressing the mid-carder to an injured champion backed against the wall really well. Nothing to right home about and somewhat left irrelevant by the MJF heel turn but still did it's job as a main event designed to elevate Garcia."
