[8.0] "Another great tag team match from Douglas and Steamboat. You could see that Shane wasn't as over as Ricky, but he still held his own and got some great reactions for his hot tag. Austin and Pillman were a phenomenal heel team here, and even though the champions did a good job, it was still pretty easy for them because of the Blondes' incredible work. They were bumping all over the place, their timing on the cheating spots was perfect, and they were so fluid in the ring that they made the babyfaces look fantastic. The match got off to a quick start, then the heat segment featured some very good selling from Steamboat, while the final few minutes had a great pace and a really convincing false finish. They finished it with a DQ, but they worked toward that finish, so it didn't feel cheap at all. Instead, they used it to set up a potential rematch."

[8.0] "I struggled with how to rank this. I'd say the first 12 minutes or so would only give this match a 6, maybe a 7 tops. However, I really liked the ending. I'm not big on disqualifications, but a DQ done right can be enjoyable. In this case, I love how everything unfolded in that last minute or so. It was drama-filled, the crowd was so into it, and Jim Ross provided excellent commentary that instantly generated hype for anyone watching. That whole last minute or so tipped it over the edge for me, making it a solid 8 match. JR's commentary is amazing. I do think I'd give the edge to the Benoit & Armstrong match from earlier in the card, although both are excellent matches; the difference is that this match had a lot of that extra boost from the ending. Still a good match. 8/10"

The finish was slightly disappointing, but it made sense so I'm fine with it. Just a really entertaining match where everybody involved showed very strong chemistry with each other."

I didn't care for plucky babyface Shane Douglas in WCW in this era but he was probably best when paired with Steamboat. Solid tag action here."

[8.0] "Steamboat and Austin were always great together, but throwing Brian Pillman and Shane Douglas into the same match makes it even better. This was quickly-paced and done very smoothly. The teamwork was perfect and everything seemed to gel in this one. I enjoyed Shane Douglas more during this era than I ever did in ECW."

[8.0] "A great match that could've potentially been a classic had there been a stronger finish. The Hollywood Blondes looked awesome in their first high-profile tag match together. Despite the bout's relatively short length at 13 minutes, they were able to get in a number of great believable nearfalls. It was a fantastic no-nonsense balls-to-the-wall match that left me wanting to watch more in the end. [****]"

[8.0] "This was an awesome match. Douglas was on fire. The Blondes were cooking and gelling as a team. Steamboat was all action as always. This was a very fast and intensely paced match that plays off an usual structure of the heel team being the ones in danger. The champs controlled and worked over Austin for the most part with Austin pinballing himself around the ring until Pilman made the save and switched the match in their favour. I dug the finishing stretch with the barrage of close nearfalls on both sides and then the DQ finish with Austin trying to sneak the belt shot in but getting caught in the proccess and thus DQ' d. A heck of a match. ****"

[8.0] "Really good action with a finish set up to build to a future match, meaning this one kind of gets the short end of the stick when it comes to the finish. But the action here is really great with everyone coming out looking good and putting together great intrigue for the next match-up. The Hollywood Blondes in particular are showing how they'll be a great, if too short-lived, team."
