[8.0] "[4.0*] I already knew the storytelling on this match would be great, but it was just fucking phenomenal, lmfao. The tag teams from the tournament were all formed within bitter rivals, so of course there was going to be some kind of betrayal, but the execution popped me hard. The match itself was more than great, and at the end Soberano turned on Atlantis Jr AGAIN just to help his buddy Rocky Romero to win it all. After the match, Rocky turned on Mascara too (LMFAO) and him and Soberano cheered like they both won, just to break the trophy in pieces afterwards. I loved it!"
[8.0] "Tons of heat to this one and everyone involved brings their best effort. Rocky Romero and Soberano Jr. are great bastard rudos. This also served as a tremendous showcase for Dorada."
[7.0] "This had a few sloppy moments but this was generally really good. Everyone was up for the match and did all they could. It was messy and imperfect but really fun. ***1/2"
[8.0] "Very good final for the Torneo Increíble de Parejas, where rivals tag with each other, an unique and interesting dynamic, this one was filled with nice stories... the match was good, had some flaws, some executions that could've been better, but the storytelling absolutely compensated everything. Rocky and Soberano are a team, so it was pretty nice to watch their interactions at the beginning, kind of mocking the audience and diminishing the match, a good prelude for what would happen at the ending, and the crowd was heavily supporting Mascara and Rocky, even when for example, Rocky tried to take Atlantis Jr mask off, a huge heel move, but he wasn't booed. The ending was brilliant, Soberano betrayed Atlantis and helped Rocky to win, so they could break the trophies after the match... one of the most cool and creative heel moves they could do - {***3/4}"
[7.0] "Soberano Jr. might be the best heel in wrestling right now. Dorada brought the highspots and Atlantis Jr. was the glue. Even if you don't like the match, it is worth watching for the finish alone."
[7.0] "A fun tag match with good action and some solid character dynamics, but not as cohesive as other matches on this show. Love seeing dickhead Rocky in Mexico though, his interactions with everybody else were pretty much all gold, and him smashing the trophy was classic heel shit. Mascara Dorada was the highlight of the in-ring action with a ton of great high-flying moves too. Don't know why Atlantis Jr. has that Cena heat, the crowd reaction didn't exactly fit the story as a result. ***1/2"
[10.0] "Ah this was a hoot and a half, tremendously fun lucha match as expected from these four. Mascara Dorada is truly a joy to watch and the crowd was just loving him. The tecnico/rudo teams made for some interesting dynamics and fun spots and everyone played their parts perfectly. Loved this."
[6.0] "This was a tiny bit better than your run-of-the-mill modern lucha match because for once there was a tangible, entertaining story in amongst all the action. People will perform mental gymnastics to explain how the 50/50 bomb trades and high spots we get in most lucha matches are actually the peak of theatrical storytelling, but I struggle finding those matches as anything more than just mindless but athletic spectacle. This match, however, had the interesting booking where the two teams were both made up of one heel and one babyface. As expected, we got "CAN THEY COEXIST" drama, but I actually somewhat enjoyed how that story came out in a bunch of different moments where the teams would have internal tensions because of their differing philosophies and then manage to actually put them aside for the sake of the win, and then they both combusted at the very end as the heels went for their typical heel shenanigans for the sake of pure chaos. Aside from that story, this was your generic modern CMLL match with a lot of flips, dives, and bombs, with the in-between work mostly being pretty bland apart from a few fun periods of aggressive beatdown work. The multi-man spots and 2-vs-2 mirrored sequences never looked that good in terms of set-ups because of how clearly cooperative all 4 guys always were, though their end-product moves usually looked pretty good. The faster-paced sequences were fun, albeit still suffering from the same over-choreographing limitations. The 1-vs-1 interactions at the end between Rocky and Atlantis were good, as Rocky was nicely aggressive in his control work and Atlantis had good energy in his brief comeback before it was cut of by Rocky and Soberano uniting to give Rocky's team the win. Again, the action was nothing special, but the antics of the babyfaces and heels constantly clashing despite being on the same teams added a tiny bit of extra interest. Maybe if there were a few cooler spots/sequences then this would've reached truly good territory. ***"
[6.0] "The weird tecnico/rudo dynamics led to lots of badly executed spots. The match was still fun enough to hold its own, but you can only imagine how this would have been a much better match had it just followed traditional psychology. Also, Soberano and Dorada were the stars of this."
[7.0] "Thought this was a bit of a mess all told. The crowd double-fucked the dynamic by hating on Atlantis much more than they did either of the rudos. With the wrong responses being elicited, the balance of the match was gone and I struggled to keep up with who was doing what to whom, intentionally or otherwise ***1/4"
[6.0] "Some solid lucha action, with the great dynamics between Romero and Soberano fueling the match. The ending was creative, and Rocky smashing the trophy after was a nice touch. 3.25 Stars."
[9.0] "This match was so fucking fun. I loved the work in it. I loved the storytelling of the Torneo rules and I REALLY loved the finish. Those Rudos are dastardly as hell. This was my match of the night frankly. I really enjoyed this one."
[7.0] "This was a very good to great match. The dynamic of mixed rudo/heel teams made for some fun moments in the match and the work was great, though I wasn't high on the finish ***3/4"
[9.0] "A great Lucha tag team match that as the wrestlers involved suggest featured a lot of good shit. The athleticism was just outstanding and since the first minutes we got the cleanest dives you can find in wrestling and in the second half there was also a ton of good tag maneuvers. Just great Lucha. ****1/2"
[9.0] "The first half of this match, the interplay between the two teams, was just outstanding. Rocky and Soberano were particularly entertaining. When it turned into something more traditional it was still fine, but its beautifully booked endingultimately makes it. So much potentially good stuff so perfectly set up."
[9.0] "It struck me as odd that Rocky and Dorada, an unusual rudo and tecnico pairing, and Soberano and Atlantis Jr, also a rudo and tecnico, were the two teams that made the finals. But the reason became clear by the end. This match was excellent, but it was the closing angle that lined this up to be remembered for years to come. Early on, stablemates Rocky and Soberano, despite being on opposing teams, quickly grew chummy with one another - much to the chagrin of their partners. As the match continued, it became obvious that neither team, to use the overworked phrase, could "coexist" for long. And then, in a turn that in hindsight should have been obvious, Soberano betrayed Atlantis Jr. to give Rocky the win. The two then beat down their own partners, acted like they were the team that won the whole thing, and broke the tournament trophies. Absolute bastards and incredibly done. ****1/4"
[8.0] "[4.5*] The match had a very unique dynamic, as CMLL brought together rivals who hate each other as tags, so it was very funny to see the tension between the two tags with their own partners. It was incredible when Mascara and Rocky did "made in detroit", an incredible move. The action in the ring was very good, Mascara Dorada was the big highlight here, his shooting star press were ridiculously insane, after eliminating Soberano he was quickly eliminated by Atlantis, who reversed a shooting star press into a cutter, a sensational spot. With Soberano's betrayal of his partner Rocky Romero got the victory, it was an intelligent ending that made perfect sense with the storytelling of the match, it was very funny with the pairs fighting each other after the match, an extremely fun match."
