Hulk Hogan vs. Terry Funk

[7.0] "This match looked excellent, the way Terry Funk is presented here looks sillier than ever, but alongside with Jimmy Hart they make a great charismatic heel duo, and as usual, Terry sold everything incredibly well here, the 'middle-aged and crazy' gimmick that Gorilla called at the beginning, he was confused, running away, angry... and combined well with Hulk's superhero rise. This has many fun moments, and it's just a cool angle, that set-up well the SNME match between them. The ending of this match saw Terry and Jimmy dirty tactics backfiring, and Hogan retaining the title - {***1/4}"

[5.0] "Very okay match that sees Funk misused. Funk's cartoonish character work in this match is underwhelming when compared to his genuine lunacy in other performances. Despite this, Terry still carries the match for the most part."

[4.0] "Match action was fine for a WWF challenger of the month for Hogan but it was a bummer to see Terry Funk already being used more comedically than I feel he should. He can still do the part but I wish he was seen as an actual threat but I know that's going to be a constant issue in the coming years with Vince's WWF."

He used just about every trick in the book to come across as a crazed heel - Gorilla Monsoon even refers to him as "middle aged and crazy" during his entrance - and he presents a very interesting change of pace from Hulk Hogan's usual foes."
