[8.0] "A treat of a Royal Rumble. Gunther and Sheamus starting is perfection, Drew joining in, the three being iron men and offering a preview of their WrestleMania 39 classic is great. The Miz getting victimized is fun, Brock entering is a blast as always, him and Gunther staring at each other is awesome, Lashley eliminating Brock is utter bullshit, Edge taking out the Judgment Day is nice, even Omos and Braun Strowman have a cool moment, there's also that immaculate spot between Ricochet and Logan Paul, Seth and Cody teaming up to take out Gunther and go at it, Logan playing buzzkill. On top of that, Gunther (n°1) and Cody (n°30) put on one of the best one-on-one finish in Royal Rumble history. ***3/4+"
[8.0] "This was an amazing Rumble match. Gunther, Drew, and Sheamus cooked for so long and it built up nicely to their Mania match. Seeing Kross get obliterated by a Claymore and Lesnar taken out by Bobby Lashley were some of my personal favorite moments. Also the viral spot between Logan Paul and Ricochet was pretty insane. The finish and Cody winning it after his return was done very well. (8.5/10)"
[9.0] "Giving Gunther, Sheamus and McIntyre the most time meant we got great action throughout. There were great short storylines with Lashley/Lesnar and JD/Edge. And the final minutes with Cody, Gunther, Paul and Rollins were fantastic. Also - a lot of people seemed confused about what happened to Rey it was extremely obvious that Dominik attacked him, not everything needs to be spelled out!"
[8.0] "Besides the obvious outcome of this match, this was a very good rumble and was 100% better than the pervious years rumble. The interaction between Brock Lesnar and Gunther was just amazing and made me excited for a match between them that's now never going to happen. Gunther was the MVP of this match"
[6.0] "This is a weird rumble to rate. It is extremely important to one of WWE's biggest and best stories, it has a lot of great spots and factoids in it (Gunther iron man, Cody Rhodes hitting him with the Shattered Dreams, Ricochet/Paul) but I also think it never quite comes together in the way it should have to be great. I think this is partially because Cody winning was such a foregone conclusion... Brock also being Brock in it is also always a sour note that's been played one too many times. There's very little in way of surprises in this at all."
[7.0] "Decent Rumble, much better than the previous year. Cody winning was a foregone conclusion, but it was fun getting there. Ricochet and Logan Paul had their moment, which was ok, but I don't understand why everyone was so amazed by it."
[7.0] "(7) Full retrospect this Rumble feels like it should be better than it is. Gunther is the iron man, Drew and Sheamus have a run, Cody wins, it all makes sense. However, it really lacks memorable spots and dynamics, I think having Cody announced beforehand hurt this as his win does not feel too defiant. Good rumble, could have been great."
[9.0] "This is a fantastic royal rumble match with some great entrants, cool spots, Gunther's iron man performance and Cody Rhodes' return and winning the match. Fantastic rumble and massive improvement from the year before it."
[8.0] "decided i was in the mood to watch a rumble for the first time since my 2 month marathon back late last year early this year (its a yearly thing LOL). I was gonna wait until i watched this entire show over again but i decided against it. I feel the exact same way about the way cody won this match. He was all ready announced for this match before the match (a mistake shouldve just waited) but its ridiculous they didnt have him come in at #1 that is a true moment right there. Also its just insane how different some of these wrestlers careers are not even 2 years later. Still a super fun solid rumble match 4.25 stars"
[6.0] "[3.0*] It is pretty hard to rate a Rumble because it has so many factors. In terms of surprise entrants it was trash, in terms of unpredictability it was trash because we already knew the winner months before, but in terms of wrestling it was actually pretty good. GUNTHERs showing was an all-time performance and we had a lot of good spots."
[8.0] "This is on of my favorite Royal Rumbles ever because of the performances of the men involved. The only thing I would change is switch the entries of Rhodes & Logan Paul because I was definitely in the group who wanted Sami Zayn in the match. It also would have made the Rhodes vs Gunther pairing at the end feel less role reversed, as the valiant heel wrestling from #1 tries to beat the babyface from #30? Love Gunther's ironman performance, just don't make Cody enter last. Logan Paul would get nuclear heat for coming out last on the principle of not being Sami Zayn (like Rey Mysterio in 2014) And the spot of everyone beating up Logan Paul could be even better by adding that context."
[6.0] "Not a bad Rumble at all, but really no surprises (only Booker T, lol), and a very standard one. Cody return should've been the surprise, but they spoiled it announcing his appearance after, making it very predictable. Not totally against Cody winning it, but he wouldn't be my pick, this reminded me a lot about the 2014 Royal Rumble, with Sami Zayn clearly being Bryan - {**3/4}"
[9.0] "This Royal Rumble is possibly my favorite of all time; perhaps that's biased because I was there and I saw it happen live, but still. This match has so many highlights, is absolutely stacked with talent and is exciting and engaging throughout with a lot of storyline progression and set-up. Gunther's iron-man performance, Cody's return to Finish the Story, Lesnar and Lashley, Edge's return to beat down The Judgment Day, setting up Rollins vs. Paul at 'Mania, even hints at Gunther/Sheamus/McIntyre too, it was so amazing and the finishing stretch with Cody and Gunther is so fuckin' good. I love this match, it's one of my favorites for the memories, for how it made me feel live in the Alamodome watching it, it was an amazing experience."
[6.0] "An okay rumble. I wish Cody had returned as a surprise AND earlier on instead of number 30, it made it less heroic but the 1v1 with GUNTHER was great. The rest of the match just felt kind of off."
[9.0] "The match that made Gunther a star. Him and Sheamus going far just beating the ever living Christ out of each other. Cody and Gunther's final two battle is arguably one of the best final 2's in history. My only criticism is that the spoiled Cody being in the rumble beforehand, think it would be held in much higher regard if it was a surprise"
[8.0] "The 23 mens Rumble was what I was hoping the 2024 one would be; FUN! I really enjoyed this Rumble even though Omos was there. Cody vs Gunther at the end was very fine"
[8.0] "Very good Rumble well booked. I loved the spots as well as the finale between Rhodes and Gunther where they gave us around ten minutes of match. (4*1/4)"
[5.0] "This was certainly better than the 2022 Royal Rumble, but I still had issues with this. No really interesting surprises, another botched Kofi spot, no Sami Zayn, and a predictable ending. I like Cody Rhodes winning, but I feel it would've been more impactful had they not already announced him returning."
[7.0] "Kind of a nothing match other than the Paul/Ricochet spot, but exactly the match they needed to get Cody over as the top babyface in the company. This was also a star-making performance from Gunther, which catapulted him to a tremendous 2023."
[9.0] "I think looking back right before Royal Rumble 2024, this rumble is a great match with moments of set up and creating stars in the process. It needs mentioning how great the last 10 minutes are where Cody and Gunther are just having amazing chemistry. Gunther looked absolutely fantastic and felt like a true push to make him at equal levels with the big guys like Seth and Cody. Yes, it was predictable but I think seeing how cody's story right now is unpredictable gives this rumble feeling like just a chapter in the story. Braun, ricochet and logan paul also looked great."
[8.0] "This rumble certainly redeemed the mess of the previous year's one, with interesting surprises, fun moments, great long-lasting performances and although Cody winning was predictable, there was no doubt he deserved this moment."
[9.0] "I rewatched this match just now on WWE's YouTube, I had fond memories of it from last year but didn't remember it being this good. Genuinely a great Rumble match with a bunch of standout moments, great booking, great writing and an invested crowd from start to finish. The choice of putting him in the opener was perfect and the result was 100% the right call, so I have nothing negative to say. Definitely in the top 10 of the best Rumbles in history."
[8.0] "This was a good Rumble and a good match. One thing I didnt like is how almost every single entrant was announced beforehand. Anyways, this match was a ton of fun with many highlights such as Gunther lasting all the the way, Brock reaking havoc, Drew and Sheamus working as a team, and Cody coming out and winning the whole thing."
"It was not a bad rumble and not a good rumble too. The fact that Cody was the favorite and was announced because they sayed they have bigger surprises (The rock) made our hype being too Big. Booker T appearance was a good surprise, Logan Paul and ricochet spot was incredible and Gunther performance was amazing but the rest of the rumble was very Classic."
[4.0] "thought there was a noticeable lack of tension with it being obvious Cody was gonna win weeks before the match (arguably months). There are few interesting moments or sequences, peaking when Lashley eliminates Lesnar. Gunther, who is this Rumble Iron Man, is a big highlight. Cody won in 30th place, but the long-awaited win felt like an afterthought considering how the main event unfolded which left everyone thinking about Sami Vs Roman rahter than Cody Vs Roman. It's definitely better than 2022, but for the most part it's still pretty boring."
[7.0] "A very good Rumble Match, which was hard to do since you knew the winner from the start. Gunther is obviously the MVP of this and the final minutes between him and Cody must be one of the best final showdowns in RR's history. It almost felt like another match with another story and it was a nice tease of what these two could do together in the future."
[7.0] "Aside from the extraordinary performances of guys like Johnny Gargano and Gunther and his face-off with Cody Rhodes at the end (the best along with Michaels vs Undertaker in 2007), it was a boring Rumble. We all knew who was going to win the match for months (a good winner nonetheless), little to zero surprises, guys like McIntyre and Sheamus just standing there having each others backs like they can't fight on their own. Not a bad Rumble match, but it was a bland one. (** 1/2) Edit: I rewatched it last night, and I enjoyed a lot more knowing every "surprise" in the match. I think it's still kind of dull without having any big surprise and Cody Rhodes entry being as predictable as it gets. McIntyre and Sheamus did more than I remember, but I didn't like their eliminations (which sets the Triple Threat at WrestleMania) as it looked like they were low-carders instead of mid-uppers. I hated Montez Ford elimination in mere seconds, the guy is one of the most talented and charismatic in the whole company and instead of letting him shine they put him there just to be eliminated like that. Cody vs Gunther by itself at the end is a **** 1/4 match at least, they both did awesome and Gunther was the real MVP of the match. Lesnar and Lashley being there to put an OMG moment and keeping up a rivalry that could've been awesome and never had a good match, Gargano having good time, Edge returning to take revenge on Judgment Day, Logan Paul playing the heel part so well (Ricochet spot was dope). Like I said, a Rumble hurt by the lack of surprises and how obvious the winner was going to be, but in general was more fun than I remember. (*** 1/2)"
[8.0] "Fantastic Rumble. Cody looked like a star in his return, and GUNTHER looked like a world-beater in one of the most satisfying Rumble runs of all time. Absolutely a return to form for the Rumble after the last year."
[10.0] "Perfect rumble, not quite sure why people are giving it low votes, it was a great rumble match. Gunther was perfect as the ironman but awesome performances from Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Dominik Mysterio, Logan Paul and Cody Rhodes added to the match and it was a huge improvement on last year! Bravo Triple H."
[10.0] "Greatest rumble match with the exception of 2001 and 2007. Awesome all the way through, career making performance from Gunther and everyone was used in the correct way. The final sequence between Cody and Gunther was awesome and the match always stayed fresh. Blows 2022 out the water that's for sure."
[8.0] "One of the best rumbles of all time. From the history-making performance by Gunther to the return and win of Cody Rhodes, this was a fantastic match. There were quite a bit of mainstays in this one. Gunther, Sheamus, Johnny Gargano, Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, & Dominik Mysterio all lasted at least 20 minutes. Gunther and Cody got the most eliminations (5). Gunther had arguably the best overall performance ever. Its right up there with Rey Mysterio in 2006 & Kane in 2001. Despite how predictable the result of this was, nobody can deny that it was the right choice although we can agree Gunther deserved it. Story wise, this was really good with the continuation of Gunther/Sheamus, the callback with Cody/Seth, the continuation of the Judgment Day story, and Brock/Bobby. The in-ring action was obviously really good due to Gunther running things. The final two sequence was easily the best since Michaels/Undertaker from 2007. Overall, great rumble. Great match. 8/10. **** (as a match)."
[10.0] "The Gunther & Cody Rumble. Gunther had maybe the single most impressive performance in Royal Rumble history here, going 70 minutes & still having enough in the tank to put on one of the best final 2 sequences they've ever finished a Rumble with."
[10.0] "Love, love, love Royal Rumbles and this was no exception. An exceptionally fun event, especially compared to last year's travesty, and a worthy winner in Cody Rhodes."
[10.0] "Thank you. Thank you so much Triple H, for giving us this fantastic Royal Rumble. Now, with the return of Vince McMahon, I say this with a tear rolling down my face. Sweetness and tears aside, this Rumble offered everything I wish there was in a Royal Rumble: fast paced and never boring, very few dead moments, tons of interesting entrances, various evolving and intertwining storylines, major returns and stellar performances . Now that I think about it, this Rumble was the exact opposite of last year's, dull, boring and with no moments to remember. Gunther unleashed a performance that will go down in Royal Rumble's history; the return of Cody Rhodes, however obvious, was what everyone was waiting for; Logan Paul and Ricochet created a memorable spot and tons of other great moments. The only criticism I could make towards this Rumble could be Cody Rhodes' entry number: I would have had him enter with a lower number (20, for example) to emphasize the story of the "titanic feat", but this observation doesn't have to hurt this magnificent Rumble"
[9.0] "An underrated Royal Rumble, there is very good wrestling, a lot of entertainment, but I understand the impossibility of putting 10/10 since there is a lack of returns, very predictable like Cody's victory. But I had a great time plus the audience was warme"
[8.0] "A really good Rumble to open the show. I would have preferred Cody to enter earlier in the match since they had already announced him for it, but his Final Two with GUNTHER was absolutely fantastic. Speaking of GUNTHER, he's the obvious MVP of this match. He began the match with Sheamus and never seemed to become an afterthought. He was consistently doing something that had eyes on him. Plus, even though he started the match and Cody came in last, he made it believable that he could eliminate Cody. The two of them had one of the best Final Two sequences in Royal Rumble history, in my opinion. The Logan and Ricochet spot was great as well, and it was really cool to see Booker T back in the ring briefly. One notable downside was that I think Rey's situation wasn't handled the best. Since he was legitimately injured, of course I agree with taking him out of the match and I do think Dominik attacking him was the perfect way to do that. However, I do think that someone else should have taken his spot in the match. Overall, this was a very well-done Rumble, GUNTHER is an absolute star, and I'm very much looking forward to Cody vs Roman at WrestleMania :)"
[8.0] "One of the better rumbles. Good booking, surprise eliminations (Brock notably), a good final few wrestlers and a great Logan Paul spot. Predictable winner but otherwise well done. ****"
"I would've preferred Cody had entered the match earlier than he did, but I assume he came in at 30 to ease him back into action. Curious to see if he wins the belt at Wrestlemania."
[7.0] "Above average. Royal Rumble is a match, which you can't rate with workrrate. Its all about entertainment side. This rumble match was not sp good from this side, tho from workrate, it was cool. But it disspoints maximum fans. (***1/2)"
[6.0] "In a vacuum, its great. They did a good job weaving a number of individual stories throughout the match, and all of the long-term participants felt justified. Would have liked one or two more legends. The lack of Sami Zayn is baffling. His inclusion would have added a lot of suspense to the outcome. Instead, its obvious that Cody is going to win as soon as Logan Paul comes out at 29. Still, very well executed and never boring."
[7.0] "It is difficult to objectively evaluate the Royal Rumble match. But, as for me, the potential of this rumble was not realized in due measure. Booking of the match itself was very strong, Gunter set a new record absolutely deservedly, Ricochet and Logan Paul created a memorable spot [which you can't say about Kofi, the years take their toll...]. Edge is back to continue its story with Judgment Day. But alas, there were no real surprises in this RR. No NXT guys, no legends, which is sad. But even more disappointing is Cody's booking. Number 30, seriously? It was boring, predictable, and worst of all, to Sami and Roman, he looks like Batista in 2014. It's just not right. Cody could easily win the title in the future, but right now he's just stealing someone else's opportunity. ***1/2"
[8.0] "A very well-booked Rumple match. Although Cody winning was predictable, it was the right choice. I am very happy that Gunther was on the spotlight for the entire match. Him and Cody last face-off in the end was great and felt like a separate little match. Lesnar's suprice elimination was great and his reaction was just golden. And of course, the Ricochet-Logan Paul spot - just fantastic. The only thing that I kinda didn't like and is a nit-pick - predictable placements (ex. Dominick coming right after his dad)."
[9.0] "This was a fantastic kip-up from last year's debacle. The surprises were minimal in Booker T & Logan Paul but entertaining enough to keep the momentum going. Exceptional moments were created such as Bobby eliminating Brock before the latter's clean sweep & the Logan Paul-Ricochet ultimate collision. WALTERis the MVP for me apart from the undeniable winner in Cody Rhodes because of the spectacular final stand-off that was orchestrated between them. So happy to see The American Nightmare thrive his dream in the promotion that thwarted him out of the main event scene as the road leads to Hollywood with a date against The Tribal Chief. 4.5 out of 5 stars!"
[8.0] "Of course there were a few flaws in the match. Such as the lack of big name surprise returns, Brock and Bobby not fighting each other after being eliminated, Kofi botching his spot, and Cody coming out at number 30 which made it painfully predictable he was going to win. But with all that I still found this to be very enjoyable, and the crowd was popping for everything here. Great to see Edge get his revenge on the Judgement Day, Logan Paul and Ricochet had one of the best spots in Rumble history and Gunther going for fucking 70 MINUTES was a performance of a lifetime! Yes Cody winning was predictable but there is no doubt that he was the right choice to win if Sami wasn't going to be in it. The final match with Cody and Gunther was stellar as well. ****"
[8.0] "A well booked rumble that relied more on the strength of the roster than on surprises. Perhaps that yields a less exciting match compared to previous years, but I found myself enjoying the teasing and continuation of various feuds and stories. Felt like a lot developed, and despite Codys win being as obvious as it was, a lot of other stars (Gunther especially) had moments that elevated their status."
[6.0] "Match was good but I had higher expectations for this one. Cody coming in 30 and winning was completely predictable and disappointing to me. Would have been better as a big surprise return. Glad Gunther got his big moment and the final two going at it was the best in recent memory. No real big surprises other than Booker. Kofi having another mistake was disappointing. Rey not being in and not being replaced seems like a missed opportunity. Lot of good moments but still quite a bit of negative."
[9.0] "This was amazing I thought. I really enjoy (good) Rumble matches. Not too sure what I think of Cody, who for some reason was announced weeks before the match, coming in at 30 and winning but Gunther's booking is one of the best things in wrestling at the moment. We basically got a full match between the final two which made the finish, and whole match, feel even more like an epic. There was a few other cool moments but, unfortunately, no surprises. I really thought there was a chance we were going to get Muta..."
[9.0] "This may not have been the most "exciting" Rumbles, it may not be the most "one to remember" kind of deals for some. But really feels like people are letting Cody's predictable (but very well-earned and necessary) wins cloud them from possibly the absolute best entry-to-entry booked Rumbles ever. Hardly a spot wasted. Even with Kofi's botched save spot and maybe 3 or 4 mid-carders in there, every single spot that mattered meant more than almost any other rumble ever before it. There is definitely only a small hand full you could say was booked better than this one."
