[9.0] "Great TV match here I think, not perfect but definitely underrated. Your mileage may vary on the lumberjack thing but I think they worked it well, and while it was indeed quite long I think these two earned it with some great chemistry. Pillman was a nice slimy heel but Steamboat was on fire here, dude was so awesome around this time. Wonder what might have been if he didn't bust his back in '94."
[6.0] "I must admit, I'm not a big fan of lumberjack matches. They tend to be a bit repetitive, and there's usually nothing all that interesting that happens with the stipulation. This was a good main event that was well wrestled on a technical level, but a little lacking in excitement for me, and I didn't feel that the stipulation did much to enhance my enjoyment. The main issue was that the match was much too long for what it was, and they definitely started losing me in the back half. The finish happening during the commercial break was odd and honestly a little frustrating after how long the rest of the match was (you're going to make me sit through all of that just to end it in the break? They did replay everything, but still), but I guess there is something to be said for the realism...? It would probably be too harsh to give this a lower rating since the wrestling was good, but I thought this was pretty disappointing."
[6.0] "On paper, their match looks like 4.5 stars. But in the end, in my opinion, they managed to give out a match here for only 3.25. It's not bad, technical. The speeds were where they needed to be, there was a connection with the lumberjacks, the fans were normal, but I didn't have enough. Maybe because a non-title match is at stake, or maybe because I don't know their history. ***1/4"
[7.0] "The finish happened during a commercial break on a taped show. Realism, I guess? Otherwise, very fun lumberjack match! Longer than it needed to be, but good nonetheless."
[7.0] "I agree that this match went on longer than it needed, but I did enjoy it. The in-ring action was good. I found myself often distracted by Austin and the other lumberjacks. Which in some ways took away from the match, but I found all their interactions enjoyable too."
[8.0] "This was a little too long-winded to be special but this is a great match. They use the common tropes of the Lumberjack matches well but develop the one to one chemistry between Pillman and Steamboat really well. Pillman slows the tempo down to a controlling pace to work on Steamboat? s back, while using the Lumberjacks to his advantage to team up with Austin. Steamboat? s selling was amazing. Think Hogan vs Andre WM 3. The same type of selling on the bodyslam because Pillman destroyed his back. Excellent stuff. The finish during the break is a little Mid-South but they recapped it well, making the match feel complete. ****"
