Rikishi creating the MOMENT of his career, and I loved the story behind the truck, loved the brawling on the cars on stage. Loved the pops whenever dudes started climbing up and the BOOS when Triple H starting climbing down. Finish was a bit flat but the first 31 minutes of this are great."

This was a fun match, clearly. Actually, for the longest time I was not aware that they came up with a story for the truck. All sequence felt unorganized and that gave the edge this match needed. Of course the biggest man takes the bump."

[9.0] "a 6-man Hell in a Cell match was a great idea. It was kind of a precursor to the Elimination Chamber a couple of years later. Six guys just beating the snot out of each other to a delighted crowd with Rikishi taking the bump of his career. I particularly enjoyed the fighting on all the set cars outside of the ring. A nice send-off to the year 2000."

Everyone had their moments and did their thing and of course it features the iconic spot of Undertaker choke slamming Rikishi off the cell. This match sort of feels like an Elimination Chamber match before it was even a thing for obvious reasons."

I thought I would be champion, He would also get up from the truck in an epic fashion, like an invincible Samoan wrestler. But well, it never happened. I give it a 9, in my own opinion."

This was just a pure spectacle."
Conor wrote on 23.10.2025:
[9.0] "This was a really fun chaotic mess. It was a good decision to have the brawl spill to the outside so it could breathe a little. Although there was a lot going on, it kept the match interesting from beginning to end. Great spot with Taker, Rikishi and the truck, but I wish there had been one or two more big spots. Loved the finish with Kurt as the chicken sh*t heel sneaking the cheap pin for the win. I wouldn't put this on my list of most epic cell matches, but it's one notch below and still a great match."
biloxata1993 wrote on 16.08.2025:

At times the action is sluggish and not particularly memorable, but it's still impressive to see all these guys together in this context, and the chaotic moments are very enjoyable."

McMahon's truck idea was ridiculous but makes a great moment for Rikishi the odd one out in the match. I liked the finish of HHH and Austin fighting after putting Rock away allowing Angle to get the pin."

[10.0] "It's just complete and utter chaos from start to finish. There was so much going on at the start when you just had the six guys in the cell where it looked like the camera crew was struggling to keep up with everything. Austin uses Triple H like chesegrater on the cage and busts him up. Then you get a sequence of finishing moves going in with broken up pinfalls and Vince comes in and has the door ripped off trying to stop the match and it just escalated even more where even befor they was climbing the cell they was brawling all around the stage and using some of the props as weapons. Austin's head goes through a window and the Rock gets pedigreed on a car. It's just crazy. Then theres insane stuff on top of the cell where Rikishi takes the big car crash bump when Taker chokeslams him off the cell and on to the truck driven up to ringside. And then it pans to Austin and Rock looking on inside the cell before they finally have a big showdown at the close. Kurt somehow sneaks the win after Austin gets Rock with the Stunner even though he's beat up through the entire match and I don't think I'd ever seen him cut up in a match like this before as he was bleeding like a sive. It's just a one of a kind car crash spectacle that perfectly summed up everything about the Attitude Era."

I think everyone else is at worst, just okay. Rikishi is pretty good here, Triple H suprisingly pretty good in this, but doesn't have any real highs, just fairly consistent though finds ways to be annoying. Angle does his job well here, he doesn't really need to be anything crazy here. Obviously Austin and Rock are the main stars here. It really does mirror the AE well but, it also mirrors its flaws pretty well."

Great action with all guys involved really putting on good performances, and Rikishi coming off the top of the cell was definitely the spot of the match. Solid 4 stars."

Yes, they spent a lot of time not using psychology to actually try to win the match until the last few minutes. But who cares? This is pure Attitude Era greatness, and all of its best stars.....including Rikishi were involved! The Rock and Stone Cold's staredown was great, and a great prelude to what would come in the next few months, and Kurt Angle played his role perfectly as the out of his element heel finding every trick in the book to weasel his way out of carnage, and even doing so in the end, but not leaving unscathed. I enjoyed this match very much, and would easily put it in my top 3 recommended matches from this era of wrestling. Pure fun. ****1/4"

There is a level of grit to this that isn't seen in today's plunder matches that often come off as different set pieces tied together by lackluster brawling. Instead the brawling here has a level of chaos that kept my eyes glued to the screen especailly once the color started to appear. Every guy has their moment here and its capped off with one of the more memorable spots in Cell history. A fantastic match that for some reason has never been attempted again today. **** 1/2"

[9.0] "An epic, memorable main event, emphatically delivering on a build centred around chaos and danger. This has aged gracefully, leaning more on raw brawling than plunder or set-pieces. Granted, those are both in attendance, but there are also extensive stretches of simple physicality, with six of WWF's heaviest hitters fighting around the promotion's most iconic structure. Those foundations allow the rest to climb even higher, including a stunning spot that somehow, Austin and Rock improve upon with pure chemistry and presence. Great match, an era defining triumph. ****1/4"

Tons of good brawling and big signatures from main event acts. I liked the way they went mixed through different combinations within the match so when they ultimately got to Austin and Rock, the place went nuts. An electric sequence that cemented that match as the obvious choice for WrestleMania once again. The match is likely mostly remembered for the Rikishi bump off the cell and it may overshadow the rest."

[9.0] "This was one of the best examples of the Attitude Era's signature car-crash style of main event brawls. Except this time, you have six of the top stars in the company competing in Hell in a Cell for the WWF Championship. It delivered everything you could want; star-power, violence, chaos, moments. This match is just all over the place, it's a mess, but in the best possible way. I enjoyed the story of Vince McMahon trying to discourage all six men from competing in this match too and getting taken away by Mick Foley's security for his trouble. All six men were great; some highlights for me include the opening minutes where everyone is facing everyone, it's wild and all over the cell. The section of the match that spills out onto the stage, especially when Austin hits Triple H with the crane camera and you get a POV replay of it. Of course, Rikishi's fall off the top of the cell was definitely the least gruesome out of all of them, but it still looked cool. And the finish where Kurt Angle gets lucky and retains the championship after pinning Rock who was just hit with a Stunner, it was a great finish that works to perfection for what Angle's character was then. This match was great, I think it's just as good as people say it was."

Don't expect a technical masterpiece here, it's a glorious stomp and punch fest that spills out into the "junkyard" set out front complete with radioactive waste barrels for the wrestlers to hit each other with. Extra points for historical significance."

Kurt played the weasel heel perfectly here by taking advantage of everyone elses existing issues and rivalries, Rock and Austin got the crowd screaming every time they brawled, Trips was the brutal and violent douchebag, Undertaker doing a choke slam onto Rikishi off the cell into the wood chips, its just so damn fun to watch. I do think it kind of goes on a little bit too long and part of me also wishes Kurt was made to look more threatening, but those are pretty minor complaints. This match is just sheer adrenaline."

And then it felt like an absolute chaos, where the star power was off the charts. I didn't even mind when they escaped the cage, because I loved the stage setup and it would be a shame if nobody even brawled there for a few minutes. Almost everybody got busted open which added a lot to the visual and some stuff on top of the cage, especially Rikishi's bump, were great. Also nice way to keep the title on Angle while not making anybody look weak."

Now Ive seen the highlight of the match in greatest of clips of rikishi being thrown into the back of a chip truck. But the set up for it is too cartoony for me and takes up a lot of time away from the match to set up a throw off the cage spot. Im just glad being tossed off the cage didnt become a regular spot for the rest of the hell in a cell matches. Happy others like it, just not for me."

Watched this as a kid years ago on a DVD and rewatching it now it still holds up big time. 4.5/5"

And even so it's a super fun match that after the arrival of the truck loses a little bit of direction, but the dynamics on top of the cell is pretty cool, and the end with Kurt escaping with the title is also super well done, classic attitude stuff it was and very well done (****1/2)"

But this was a weak match with only one spot that did justice to the gimmick match. This should have been much better than what it was and it went on too long, which caused the quality to drop as the match went on."

Those who expect refined technique from this match will be deeply disappointed, because this is a full Attitude Era style match, with massive overbooking, moments bordering on the surreal and no real wrestling moves other than punches and finishing moves. If you're at home with friends and it's raining outside, watch this match and you'll have a fantastic half hour"

[4.0] "This was boring and a Raw match at best, not a PPV main event. The spots were on house shows level for how ridiculous they were. The only good part about this match is the Rikishi bump, Hunter getting thrown to the car and Angle winning as the major underdog with all these monsters here (great stuff). I was gonna give a 3 because THREE GOOD SPOTS IN THIRTY TWO MINUTES was unacceptable (plus, with so much promos during the weeks and on this PPV), but I'm raising it from 3 to 4 because of the amazing story of Angle winning almost by accident"

The spot with Vince and his stooges ripping the cage door down was a great way to allow it to become an all-round brawl, and had been teased throughout the show so it felt appropriate. Great match, and peak Attitude era craziness."

Rikishi's bump from the top of the cell was silly and made no sense, but I can't deny that it was a sight to behold. Not the best Hell in a Cell in my opinion, but one that is still a must-watch."

[8.0] "Angle refuses to get into the cage but Austin is the last entrant out and he sends him in and chaos erupts as everyone pairs off. Taker and Angle go in the ring, and Taker wins easily. Then Austin and HHH take a turn in the ring and HHH hits the face buster, HHH attacks Austins knee as Rock Samoan drops Angle for 2. HHH suplexes Austin on the floor, but gets raked on the cage and bleeds. Rikishi leg drops Austin on the way into the ring. HHH then pedigrees Rikishi for 2. We hit a finisher chain segment as Rock DDT gets 2 on HHH. Olympic Slam gets 2 on Rock. stunner gets 2 on Angle. Choke slam gets 2 on Austin. Rikishi and Austin fight and Austin gets a clothesline and a Thesz Press, Vince and the goons head out with the flatbed full of mattresses and saw dust from earlier and is trying to tear down the cell. They pull the door off but Comish Foley shows up and decks the goons then has security take Vince away. Everybody heads out of the cage and fight around the neighborhood. HHH puts Austin through a truck window, drawing blood. Rock Bottom on a car is reversed by HHH to a Pedigree. Austin, HHH, Rock, and Angle are all bleeding at his point. Austin slingshots HHH onto a car then HHH and Austin climb the cage and fight on the roof. Taker chokes out Angle with an electric cord then Angle gets off a chair shot. Taker and Angle are up top and Austin stuns HHH on the roof but how is giving a stunner on a trampoline supposed to hurt? Rikishi climbs up and fights with Taker as everybody else leaves. Taker punches Rikishi to the edge of the cell then shoves him off down onto the flatbed and he's done. Everybody look on stunned then Rock and Austin square off as the crowd goes nuttier. Spine buster, but HHH breaks up the People's Elbow. Rock Bottom for Angle who is a pile of goo, Austin saves. Stunner for Rock, who does his overblown seizure induced selling. HHH hits his neck breaker on Austin and out of nowhere Angle slugs over and puts a hand on Rock and retains. Crowd is sorta quiet for the win. They weren't expecting that finish. Austin stuns Angle and leaves. This was definitely the best match on the card and I give it top scores for a Hell In The Cell match."

The start with everyone in the cell was solid with the most notable moments being Triple H taking a beating and the finisher spamming that occurs. The match kicks up a notch when they start brawling on the outside and make good use of the cars and barrels surrounding them, and everyone afterwards is left a bloody mess. The Taker Rikishi spot was awesome and popped the crowd the most. Austin and Rock staredown was hype and then trading blows was great.
