[9.0] "A stark improvement from the ladder match at WrestleMania 16. A far greater sense of urgency. The flow from spot to spot is tremendous it feels organic and is spaced out enough to let each one breathe. Iconic spot after iconic spot. The level of reckless abandon in this was remarkable. Everyone took huge bumps and got at least one moment that will live forever. 4.75 stars"

"The first TLC match is absolutely a classic, but I feel as though it struggles to get into second gear until after the Dudleys take over; and really, when Bubba goes through the tables. The second section of this match is genuinely great, and demonstrates the improved flow between spots that I feel this rivalry exemplifies. The aforementioned quadruple table crash from the ladder would become the often emulated staple of the TLC flowchart. I feel like the big moments from these matches are usually more from TLC 2, the Triangle Ladder Match, etc, but there was plenty here to get wrong and these 7 (absolutely including Lita) got a lot right. These guys could go through a hundred tables, but there's nothing that makes me wince harder than seeing Lita hit her head on the ladder off the spear."

For me, a lot of prime ECW matches fall slightly short in how impressive they are due to seeming random and at times sloppy. This match is everything ECW done to perfection. Not everything goes exactly as planned and that's half of the appeal. 6 men in the PRIME of their careers with something to prove and apparently no care for if those careers lasted past the night. An all-time match worth showing anyone with even the slightest interest in wrestling and/or chaos."

Any injury that looks career ending puts the wrestler out of the rest of the match, it doesn't take itself too far, it's such a perfect version of itself. Makes a star out of the Hardys and tbh Lita, that spear Edge gives her looks CRAZY. Obviously full of individual highlights, but still works when analysing it as a whole package. Also doesn't overstay its welcome. Perfect example of this type of match."

There was no cohesive sorry this match. The structure of the match was weirdly designed as well. I mean I get it. It's TLC. There are always going to be pepel who will be hyped by a few high flying moves. There was no plot to it."

[10.0] "Incredible match. They just got better with every match and at the time there had never really been anything like this before and it's one painful car crash spot after another. Even Lita takes a crazy bump when she interferes as Edge spears her and it looked like her head hit one of the Ladders. The spots was all impactful and they escalated the match in a big way like Jeff crashing through two tables missing a Swanton bomb off a 20 foot ladder. Bubba's fall in particular is definitely up there as crazy visuals go as he falls off the ladder through four tables outside the ring. Everyone in the match carried their weight and took some heavy bumps, and while this match does get topped by their match at Mania 17 it's just unbelievable that they even had multiple matches like this and still had longevity!"

The Lita inclusion ruled and the table spota on the outside were incredible but the overdone of the slow clikb up the ladders can become overkill after awhile and yes I realize that is them selling but it doesn't have to be that slow or doing it when you need people to stop you. The least talked about in the triology but still a fine watch. ***1/2"

The main reason I give this match a much lower score than everyone else is I have just seen all of these spots in their 17 match and the second time around it's not as impressive."

All three gave it their all in this match to make this new stipulation have a place in WWE and they sure did with such phenomenal action and spots of all different kinds of wrestling and use of it's namesake items. They would end up doing far more in TLC2 at WWE WrestleMania 17, but this is still such a really phenomenal match and start to a wrestling stipulation."

[9.0] "[4.25*] The first TLC Match ever resulted from the Triangle Ladder between these 3 teams at WrestleMania. This was the natural successor of the Mania bout because they are kinda the same, with this one having better spots and a way better ending. They of course took some ridiculous bumps as always and they were the MOTN again, with another super hot crowd for them. Some of the insane spots were almost all with one of them falling from the ladder through a table. Jeff did a Swanton Bomb from a giant ladder through two tables on the ringside, Bubba Ray was dropped from the ladder on the ring through FOUR tables on the ramp. Lita came in and threw Edge & Christian from the ladder when they were going to win, Matt Hardy then came for the win so D-Von stopped him and threw him through 2 tables on the ringside, Lita went to check on Matt so Edge speared her. A lot of stuff like that, nasty back bumps and crazy stunts. At the ending stretch, Jeff Hardy and D-Von were hanging on the belts in an insane visual, D-Von fell and Edge & Christian threw Jeff for the win. This would led to another rematch at the 2001 Mania, remembered as the best one from the rivalry."

"The first official TLC match was a direct evolution of the Triangle Ladder Match at WrestleMania 2000. This time, the use of tables, ladders, and chairs was explicit, significantly increasing the intensity and risk. Battle Analysis: Risk Escalation: This fight took the risks to the next level. Maneuvers like Edge's Spear to Jeff Hardy, who was hanging from the belts above the ring, became iconic moments. Tables were destroyed in spectacular sequences, and chairs were used brutally, intensifying the level of violence. Narrative and drama: Each team was faithful to its character. The Hardys sought glory with aerial moves, Edge and Christian used dirty and opportunistic tactics, and the Dudley Boyz did what they do best: break tables. The narrative in the ring was clear: three teams willing to do anything to be champions. Impact on the industry: This match defined the TLC stipulation as one of the most dangerous and exciting in wrestling. In addition, it established these three teams as the innovators of extreme wrestling in WWE. Conclusion: TLC I at SummerSlam 2000 is remembered as an instant classic, a match that not only met expectations, but exceeded them. The chemistry between the three teams and the execution of the spots were exceptional. 9/10"

Hot crowd for this one as well. This is the spottiest of the three TLC matches these guys did but what do you expect in a match like this. I think I like the other entries in the series better, but this one has the most crazy spots in it."

Every time I watch it I have a new favorite spot (this time it's Matt throwing Christian off the turnbuckle onto Edge, who's sandwiched between a ladder), and waiting for Chekhov's four-table tower to go off is always fantastic. Incredible stuff."

[9.0] "Everyone had his occasion to shine in a lot of cool spots. There is no moment to rest, after an insane bump there is already an other situation to set your attention on. Every team suffered a major fall from the ladder, so it was unpredictable until the very end. This is maybe the greatest TLC match ever, non surprising if you read the names of the wrestlers involved. The only little problem I have with this is maybe the inflation of moves, in some moments I would have slowed down the pace but of course that's not a major issue, it's just talking about making perfect something that maybe already is."
NestorWrite wrote on 09.07.2024:
[7.0] "The first history of the TLC rules match is completely devoid of any exquisite spots involving attributes. The most spectacular thing the teams can do is fall down the stairs onto the tables, which in itself becomes hackneyed after a couple of bumps and doesn't give a wow effect. Even their meeting at Wrestlemania the same year gave more emotions."

I can remember at least 4 minutes of each tag in this match, which i find more difficult in the WM17 match. It's not that i hate the 2001 one, i like it for different reasons. But wrestling for wrestling's sake this is the best of the rivalry [****1/2]."

The spots were outlandish and looked great, especially the one where Bubba Ray goes flying through 4 tables. One of my new favorite table spots of all time. This was basically the wrestling form of cocaine."

I mean this is the equivalent of Subway Surfers or Family Guy Funny Moments in the background. There's no room to breathe, people care more about doing spots than climbing the ladder, Dudleys put on a table on top of another and then don't use it, etc. It's just one huge overstimulation."

The first official TLC match in wwe history although the mania 16 ladder match had tables and I think chairs as well. A fantastic match probably my 2nd favorite match out of the trilogy these teams had. 4.5/5"

This was a total car crash that was paced brilliantly and had reasonable transitions from one spot to another. There was a ton of creativity and crazy bumps. The escalation of drama and violence was also amazing. Lita's interference was perfect and Edge spearing her was great. Classic match. ****1/4"

Edge spearing Lita uneasily close to the edge of the ladder was such a nasty prick heel move too. Bumping this up on a rewatch and there's probably a legit debate of which is better between this and TLC II. (****3/4)"

[10.0] "Incredible match. One of the best TLC matches Ive ever seen. Everyone fit in their roles perfectly. Everyone had their moments to shine. This was an amazing spotfest since there was actually a story going in and since everyone sold really well (especially the Dudleyz). The spots here were amazing. Some of the best table spots of all time were here with the ladder tips of Bubba & Matt. Those spots were made even better by the fact that neither guy did anything in the match after that. Aside from the table spots, the finish sequence was absolutely fantastic. D-Von dropping to the mat got quite the pop from the crowd. I liked how they actually used the ladders to beat up each other. They couldve done more with the chairs, but TLC matches rarely put any focus on chairs, so it gets a pass. Theres not much else to say. This was definitely worth the watch. However, I still prefer TLC II which says a lot about both matches. Watch this match. Please. 9.5/10. ****3/4"

Lita giving Matt just a brief chance to win only for Dvon to flip the ladder and he goes crashing into tables was great, and Edge spearing Lita out of nowhere was too.
