Awesome Kong vs. Gail Kim

[8.0] "Finally something good on a show that was well below average up to this point, not surprisingly involving Gail Kim at the height of her plucky, high-flying babyface best and Awesome Kong at her most monstrously brutal. This wasn't just a great women's match - which you sometimes have to hold to a different standard due to the different physical capabilities of men and women - this was a fantastic professional wrestling match by any metric. The Impact Zone crowd was also louder than I've ever heard it, so credit to that crowd. The only black marks here were that the match could've easily gone longer and the DQ finish was a letdown, but that was a booking problem and not anything to do with the participants."

[10.0] "Phenomenal work! I'm a huge fan of Kim vs. Kong rivalry and this was basically their first solid match (i'm not counting Kong's debut match) and they did GREAT! For wrestling standards today it was a good match but nothing too special - for 2008 standards it was OUTSTANDING performance from both women. They showed people around the world that women can go in the ring and they can do it even better than men - they weren't holding back at all in this one - Kong was beating leaving hell out of Gail while she was trying to put Kong down. It went for 10 minutes which is crazy time for women back in 2000/2010s and they would have gone longer if not the DQ caused by Kong. Post match attack was absolutely BRUTAL and it looked like a murder attempt from Kong (that punch to Angelina was NASTY AS HELL) TNA really showed they understand why the fans love this feud and with that DQ finish they basically told us we are not even started yet - and talking about the fans - WHOLE arena was on their feet throughout the whole match. It's insane that people were that invested into the women's match back in the day. Gail and Kong proved women can be taken seriously and paved the way for next generations. The match itself definitely wasn't a 5 star but the whole situation plus the history and impact they had literally makes this match a classic. *****"

[9.0] "This was brilliant for a match that officially only goes less than 10 minutes. It starts before when Kong knocks Gail off the ring apron and she hits her first incredible looking bump of the night. You know exactly what you are going to get and these two bring. Gail is just magnificent in this, bumping her arse off and selling the desperation of just trying to find and opening as she risks it all by just throwing her body at Awesome Kong mixed in with some bloody brilliant forearms. She tries to out smart Kong and out speed her but Kong just keeps coming back. Props to Kong too who nails exactly when to sell. We get a DQ that makes perfect sense and the post match is just as much fun with Kong destroying the ref, wrestlers from the back and finally Gail again. They could not have nailed this any better, a near perfect sub 10 minute match in front of crowd that was the hottest it had been all night. ****1/2"

[7.0] "Solid match between Kong and Kim right here which was their first encounter and which was very cool to watch from the pre-match brawl to the last second of it, nothing extraordinary but I can understand why it was so popular at the time because it was totally unthinkable at that time to imagine a women's match stealing the show in a major event in the US, but fortunately TNA have democratized it. Of course the matches around them were mediocre but you can't take away their credit for that, they stole the show and you have to remember that. A solid job from Kim on Kong's arm, good comebacks from the babyface with a hot crowd completely behind her, I think this match was everything it should have been despite that DQ ending."

[6.0] "*** 1/4 stars out of 5. One of the best matches in the Awesome Kong / Gail Kim rivalry. Kong did a great job of portraying an unstoppable monster in this match and Kim did a great job of playing the underdog. Worth a watch."

[10.0] "One of the best womens matches and storylines in the history, this two has battle each other like anybody."
