[1.0] "They were sooooooooo mad at Taz being over. This is the worst of the WWF Hardcore division of the era. Before your wacky plunder brawls were filled with entertaining spots based around maximizing fan enjoyment, it was Viscera and Joey Abs throwing trash cans like video game weapons. No brutality, no impact, no reactions but still massive concussions and buckets of blood barely acknowledged."

[3.0] "A match of the Hardcore division that's fun to see, but seeing it just by how entertaining it was it's simple, can't deny that it was fun but lacking on other aspects, the concept was fun to see how they went even further the ring and returned, but in the end of the day, it's not a match that I highlight as the best. 3/10 [**1/4]"

Nice bit of mindless brain rot wrestling with loads of weapons, spots and mental stuff going on. I'll take this over the tag matches that bookended it lets be honest."
DMHUNKHHH wrote on 04.03.2026:
"Well it was kinda funny. i don't get all the hate around this one. Sure it's not a great wrestling match, but it was entertaining at least. Lacked of table spots and OMG moments imo. It's not the match of the night for sure but it's ok."

CMFunk007 wrote on 03.12.2025:
[5.0] "This could have been a lot of fun, but the botched finish dropped it down a point for me. I think the original plan called for Crash to keep the title, but the referee bitched it. Hardcore Holly walked away with the belt. Despite not liking the hardcore division, I found this to be pretty entertaining."
rishabh wrote on 08.11.2025:
[1.0] "I expected this to be somewhat entertaining given the decent skits we'd seen building to this match, but the execution was absolutely awful. The battle royal barely made any sense, with most of the action spilling outside the ring and had no structure whatsoever. There were a few violent spots throughout, including blood on both Crash Holly and Pete Gas, with the latter performing an insane bladejob that was completely unnecessary for a match of this nature. The finish saw Hardcore Holly pin Crash just as the time expired to capture the Hardcore Championship. This was an absolute waste of time that dragged on far longer than it should have, and the finish was apparently botched as well, but who honestly cares at this point? [1/2*]"
rvd2hbk wrote on 17.08.2025:
[6.0] "Yes its a silly match, and the botched ending didn't help, but there were enough memorable moments to make this worthwhile, and enough title changes to keep things interesting, even all three members of the Mean Street Posse winning the belt very briefly."
TrailsOfPersona wrote on 15.07.2025:
[5.0] "This is an interesting match to rate because I think just sitting there and watching it as a popcorn match makes it better than looking at it critically for reviewing purposes. This match is like fast food to me. It's messy, it's not great, and it's not something you'd want to have often, but once and a while it can be fun. It's just an utter car wreck with everyone taking shots from everywhere. It's very fun, but 10 minutes probably would have worked better than 15. However, looking at it critically, it kind of didn't make sense. If you could only pin the current champion, why was everyone fighting everyone else? To soften the others up? I can kind of buy that, but when you're down to the last 5 minutes, wouldn't logically you go after the champion because your time is running out? With 1 minute left, everyone was acting like the match just started. Kind of tests your suspension of disbelief and doesn't make much sense. A fun match, but that's it."
KKeanel wrote on 25.04.2025:

Suit Williams wrote on 08.04.2025:
[1.0] "This was the shits. So many needless head shots that this should've been called the CTE Classic. Guys bleeding and no one caring. Poor Pete Gas was soaked in his own blood, looking like Ric Flair at the end of a World Title match. The gimmick immediately lost heat with the fans, and they fucked up the finish. An eventful mess. 1/2 *"

JokerDeSilva wrote on 16.02.2025:
[2.0] "Just an ugly, boring walk-and-brawl rife with dudes getting hit on the head with sheets of metal. Man, the late 90s hardcore division was kind of ass, wasn't it? So rarely did it have any innovation and interesting spots, just a lot of dumb bumps and the clang of metal on a head. That's kind of exemplified here as a bunch of lower midcarders with nothing to do bounce around doing very little that's actually interesting, and unsurprisingly, it actually gets a little bit better when they're in the ring for any stretch of time - but only slightly."

Ruthless Attitude wrote on 23.11.2024:
[2.0] "This might not have been too bad if it was a much shorter match, but 15 minutes of a bunch of people hitting each other with things is just excessive and gets repetitive very quickly. The match is a total train wreck where theres just stuff happening all over the place and not even the poor camera man can keep up with it all as so many of the champs are beaten with like 1 or 2 moves. The finish is a hilarious botch."

Lots of hard hitting spots and title changes, which is what you want in this kind of match. Not as good as the hardcore match next year, but still solid."

Bradshaw bullying everybody here was maybe the only enjoyable thing, but everything else was meh, especially since nobody really tried to pin the current champion for some reason."

Jeaver wrote on 05.01.2024:
[1.0] "Oh wow, that ending was definitely botched. This match is just a "how many times can we pin somebody on absolutely 0 offense put on them". Taz gets pinned after 0 anything being done to him, and even when he is the "title holder" he is trying to pin people. Hardcore Holly and JBL love this match though because they just get to stiff everybody for no reason"

[2.0] "Just pure hardcore garbage. No psychology, no selling, no actual way for this to make sense. SO many of these workers really did deserve so much better than this garbage at a Wrestlemania. What happens when you have half the competitors never actually making a serious attempt to pin the Champion. Viscera as champion was allowed to walk around hitting people with no serious attempt at pinning him. Ridic."
sonchey wrote on 17.10.2023:
[6.0] "Silly and very corny. There wasn't really anything going except for the rapid head shots and Joey Abs losing multiple pints of blood. There could've been more to this match considering the amount of stardom but I guess every WrestleMania needs its silly fun match which is okay by me. This is the type of match that every Mania desperately needs. (6/10)"
RuSyxx wrote on 16.10.2023:
[0.0] "There wasn't anything actually good about this match. There was more than enough talent here for something better, even as a brawl. Instead everything grows stale and relies on random weapons and some blade spots. The match concept isn't terrible either, since its essentially a championship scramble, and it had the likes of Taz, Taka, APA, etc. Plenty of guys who can do good stuff outside of just hitting one another with baking pans and the like. Even the opening segment set for a good fight with the official briefing the 15 men prior. Instead no one looks good, half the competitors never make a legitimate attempt to show interest in pinning the champion even in the final minutes which makes the confusing ending even weirder."

Bad ring action with a botched finish, no-one put over and a legit injury to a competitor, this is the part of the attitude era that it's good WWE left behind."

Bradshaw ran wild for 30 seconds taking liberties with peoples brains. Kaientai for fun for about 65 seconds. The rest was crap. The end."

[3.0] "The 24/7 rule wasn't so bad and was pretty entertaining watching Crash basically fighting for his life day in day out, but this match more or less killed the belt and reduced it to a joke championship. Crash defends the title against Tazz, Viscera, Pete Gas, Rodney, Joey Abs, Hardcore Holly, Taka Michinoku, Funaki, Mosh, Thrasher, Farooq, and Bradshaw. It's a 15 minute time limit and you have to pin the current title holder to get the belt then survive with it. Immediately Tazz pins Crash, new champ. Too much action to call. Viscera pins Tazz for the belt after ramming Tazz into the post. Viscera has Kaientai's flag and is smacking someone, there trash all over the place. Crash is busted open on the forehead. Bradshaw goes crazy with a metal sheet and knocks down everybody. Crowd is getting behind him. Pete Gas is busted open. Viscera goes up top and the acolytes slam him off the top rope. Farooq breaks a 2x4 over Viseras back. Viscera is down. Acolytes put Funaki and Taka on Viscera and pin all of them. But the ref says Funaki got the legal pin. Everybody chases Funaki to the back where Rodney pins him. Gas pins Rodney immediately then loses it the thrasher inside of 20 seconds. They're fighting in the entrance way. Gas smacks Thrasher with a fire extinguisher and gets the pin to regain the title. Tazz pins Gas. Fans get an ECW chant going. Tazz tries pinning Crash but the dumass referee still counts the pin even though Tazz already has the belt. Crash pins Tazz for the title with 30 seconds left. Tazz puts on the tazzmition until the 5 second mark. Holly runs in and hits Tazz with JR's candy jar or something, and scores a pin at the 0 mark. Nobody knows who is champ now. Finkle sounds confused but they give it to Holly. The belt was completely devalued at this point and served as only a prop for the lower C card guys to get on the big PPV and do something. The HC title was done away with just about 2 1/2 year later, but not before changing hands 120+ times in 2002 alone! Match sucked, and Tazz was legit injured by glass in his eye from the candy jar shot at the end."

[6.0] "This wasn't a battle royal by the normal meaning of that term, they basically spent 15 minutes hotshotting the hardcore belt, and it was good dumb fun. It looked like they blew the ending, but that kinda added to the vibe of it. ECWtastic."

APA (especially Bradshaw) were stiff assholes. Headbangers were always funny. Mean Street Posse were abused. Nothing to write home, but this was at least entertaining"

There was too much going on for the crowd to even get invested in the match but they seemed to get invested once Taz started doing some actual moves later on in the match. Not a good match but I did find some joy in this somewhat.*1/2"

[3.0] "After the 15-minute time limit has expired, whoever scored the last decision is announced as the winner. This was a complete mess. Pete Gas and Crash Holly end up bleeding like pigs in what looks to be a botch, as who's going to tell Pete Gas of all people to go out there and get color? Most of this match was just 13 guys brawling around the ring and hitting each other with things like cookie sheets. The botched finish in infamous, but it doesn't affect my overall enjoyment is hampered too much as this wasn't exactly Flair Vs Steamboat in the first place. A crap match, but I can't say that parts of this weren't entertaining."
