[7.0] "A pretty great show to open up the new year with. I did really like the main event. Robin unmasking was very emotional and his child handing Calavera Jr 1 was so sad"

[7.0] "Fun show with a memorable main event match ending with a mask ceremony which is always an emotional moment to watch."

[6.0] "Good matches throughout the night, the last three of them being particularly notable, all with outcomes I'd say I could see coming, minus the winner/loser of the 16 man hair/mask cage match. Pantera/Valiente Jr./Troglodita/Infarto - **3/4 Yutani/Titan - *** WCWC/Chavez - ***1/4 Atlantis Jr./Sky Team v. Barbaro/Sobreano Jr./Volador Jr. - ***1/2 16 man cage match - ***1/2"

[6.0] "This was a decent show to kick off the new year for CMLL. While nothing in particular stood out as a potential MOTY candidate, the final moments of the main event were definitely special in terms of emotional moments. Which, of course you would come to expect from an unmasking moreso than a head shave. And that's what we received tonight: Match 1: enjoyable opening tag, this was worked with the babyfaces just being one step ahead of the heels from the onset. The rudos needing to resort to heel tactics every time they took the advantage, but it was clear that the babyfaces had the advantage taking the majority of the offense. Most of which was dynamic, making it appear as the heels weren't able to keep up with the momentum of the much faster technico team. 2*3/4 Match 2: Now this one was a fun watch. Yutani is starting to break away from the pack and standing out more, which I started to notice during the "Gran Alternativa" tournament in which he tagged with Angel De Oro. He worked this match as a typical heel, relying on working the crowd between big moves and really being antagonistic... Which made it all the better when Titan made his inevitable comeback and makes him submit with a nasty looking sharpshooter about 90 seconds before the time limit would've expired. 3* Match 3: this was pretty much what I expected as WCWC was having trouble adapting to the style as I do believe this is their first time in Mexico, so I won't be too hard on them. However, it was very noticable that they just weren't able to draw natural heat from the Arena Mexico crowd and were having trouble working with the Chavez brothers. The final moments of the match were good by comparison and I will give Jorell Nelson this, the way he torqued himself lighting quick on Niebla Roja's finishing submission made it look SO much cooler and quicker to apply than I normally see with "The Campana". Overall it was okay, but never crossed over into good. 2*1/2 Match 4: Your usual exciting, dynamic 6 man tag featuring the top stars of the promotion is what you would expect. Very fun to watch despite some of the spots having a few missteps and just getting the timings wrong. But they finished strong as it is all but solidified that Soberano Jr. Is poised to be Mistico's newest generational rival. The latest yang to his yin. Soberano came up short as challenger to his LHW title last year but he is still on his doorstep and right on his tail. Whether he surpasses him? Who knows but this match was a good vehicle to further the story. And Dorada stood out the most in this one, just operating on a different gear. Increíble moves and execution of them. Not sure how he does it with his schedule. 3*1/2 Match 5: So the problem with this particular cage match is so much of it looks uncoordinated and overly chaotic. With many moments of confusion because with so many people in the match, you will notice that some guys who could escape, just aren't doing it... But will do so only when they notice they're being chased. The majority of the match is that was as you watch people slowly escape and save their hair/mask. It's really only up until the final two combatants that we get a real singles match and the real drama begins. Which when it was down to Calavera Jr. And Robin the whole thing was cool and finally felt like a real spectacle. Similar to a royal rumble or battle royal where the meat of the match is in the finish. Overall, it was a fun watch... If you can look past the obvious uneventful beginning of the match. Calavera JR submits Robin in the end and due to the rules of the match is now forced to unmask. Robin's entire family was out there with him and his son in particular had the honor of unmasking his father by his side just before handing it to Calavera Jr. as a trophy. Calavera Jr. too was crying as his mask was torn so you could see the emotion in some of his face. Just a very loving and touching moment between Robin and his whole family. 3*3/4"
