Gunther/Miz could have been better but I would say it did it's job. Santos/Lee was so disappointing for me as I was looking forward to a great first time match between them. Rhea/Stark should have been a squash. A waste of 9 minutes. The main was super fun especially with the return of Nutella filled Orton and Second City Saint."
[8.0] "(7.5/10) There were plenty of publications that hailed Survivor Series 2023 as the best WWE ple of the year. Not even! Though, great it was, it was essentially a two match card, those two matches being the opener and main-event, while also being the showcase matches of the event. The return of CM Punk, however, is what will make this event live forever."
[7.0] "A very solid night that started and ended really hot with both WarGames matches being fantastic. For my money the match of the night was the womens WarGames match but this night will be remembered for the end of the night with Orton returning and CM Punks long awaited return to WWE not long after that. The main event was awesome as well with lots of great spots and angles bringing all of the wrestlers competing together, and the crowd definitely went home happy. Escobar and Lee was cool although short, and Rhea vs. Zoey felt more like a television match than being on Survivor Series. Miz/Gunther was very solid and was a good look for Miz. 3.5 star show."

Overall, certainly not a weak event, but to luridly hype the show just because of Punk and Orton would be fundamentally wrong. At least the two War Games know how to convince, that's for sure. The rest is really just filler material, although at least Miz surprises me in a positive way and the other two matches aren't complete stinkers. We won't know how important the last three minutes of airtime are for a few months, but at least they're memorable. The rest, not so much."

[6.0] "This show was boring throughout, with the highs being serviceable. I loved the opener, and was hopeful that the rest of the card would follow suit. It didn't. I had fun, because I was high and watching with my partner. But this show is an absolute bore post-opener. The main wasn't really anything except the handful of high spots. Then watermark, and Punk returns. Punk has go-away heat with my partner and I, so we were actually really pissed when it happened. I literally told them "god, I hope it doesn't happen. Just because people aren't going to shut up about it on either side of the fence." And sure enough, months later, people still won't stfu about Punk, when he's old and falling apart, but won't talk about the talent that is currently on these programs. Ya know. Drew. Priest, who has been a great champion; people are pissed their faves aren't on top. Gunther won King of the Ring, and people aren't talking about him, wondering where he is. People worry more about the guy from Chicago who can barely wrestle anymore. Shameful."
[5.0] "Really disappointing unfortunately. Damage CTRL lose again, I really don't see them as a threat when for their whole existence they have never gotten the one up on Bianca. I understood it when she was champion but at this point it's a bit deflating. All the other matches were pretty uninteresting but I was really happy to see Santos in a big four payperview. The main event was a good WarGames match, I preferred the women's but you can't do a bad WarGames match. CM Punk's return..... I try to be optimistic but you have a really stacked main event scene, add another guy to show up and get injured instantly? I hope he proves me wrong though. I enjoy him on the microphone still."
[9.0] "Survivor series was a good/great event. The matches between Santos vs Dragon and Rhea vs Zoey were somewhat disappointing. The Intercontinental match was Ok, maybe was not the best Gunther's defense but it had some moments that were really interesting. And the wargames matches were terrific, specially the womens wargames match with the spots of Iyo and Charlotte. And the mens wargames could have been more violent but it was not bad. And finally, the returns of R truth, Randy Orton and CM Punk made the event something unforgettable."

[8.0] "[8.25] The Women's WarGames match was the best match of the night, Iyo's trash can spot was pretty cool as someone who hasn't watched her NXT WarGames appearance and Bayley taking the fall after saving all of her teammates within a couple minutes was pitch perfect and is going to pay off well for future storytelling. Gunther vs. Miz was a fun match too, although I almost wish they would've given Miz the win after the low blow + SCF. I don't like how Gunther was able to kick out of that. It made Miz look really weak. The Men's WarGames was almost as good as the Women's counterpart, although it's the two big returns that really stole all attention from the actual match."
[9.0] "Even though the WarGames matches delivered an exceptional taste of action with the underlying support of a strong mid-card, the returns of R-Truth (to restore the lost humor), Randy Orton (in tremendous physique), and CM Punk (still a surreal moment) were the factors of amazement this show produced. Sprinkling in a creative cash-in tease and the showcase of new faces (Santos, Dragon & Stark) in front of a white-hot crowd added more fuel to the flaming quality in a positive way. This event is worth a rewatch anytime, and it's because of the humongous moments & the match card that was driven at an enjoyable pace."
[8.0] "Die Frauen im War Games Match haben wirklich starke Leistungen gezeigt. Der einzige Spot, der wirklich nicht sehr hübsch war, war (wie meistens) der Moonsault von Charlotte Flair, bei dem sie mit dem Knie auf Iyos Kopf landet, die danach auch beeinträchtigt scheint. Im Match zwischen Miz und Gunther ist es erfolgreich gelungen, Miz den einen Two Count zu geben, bei dem jeder denkt, dass er nun gewinnt. Nach zwei Low Blows und einem Skull Crushing Finale war der wirklich sehr stark. Am Ende glaube ich aber, dass Gunther als IC Champion noch viel Wert hat. Daher finde ich es richtig, ihn den Titel noch behalten zu lassen. Escobar gegen Dragon Lee hatte nicht die größte Wichtigkeit, aber es stehen zwei talentierte Wrestler im Ring, weswegen das Match dann letztlich auch gelungen war. Das War Games Match der Männer war bis zum Mitwirken von Randy Orton ein wenig gebremst. Man hatte irgendwie nicht so das Gefühl, dass es schon um viel ging, solang nicht alle im Ring waren. Die letzten Minuten mit Randy waren dann allerdings wirklich grandios. Der RKO gegen JD McDonagh vom Käfig war perfekt. Mir gefielen aber auch die Rückbesinnungen auf die Fehde zwischen RK-Bro und den Usos und auch Legacy mit Cody Rhodes. Das Entrance von CM Punk ist ein komischer Moment. Einerseits hat man nicht das Gefühl, ihn lang nicht gesehen zu haben. Im Gegenteil hat er bei AEW ja für einiges an Tumult gesorgt. Das Publikum in Chicago hat ihn ja in der selben Arena auch erst vor kurzem wrestlen sehen. Dennoch ist das Comeback zu WWE nun wirklich einer der wenigen Wrestling-Momente, die man wohl nie für möglich gehalten hat und ein WWE-Publikum ist ein anderes als ein AEW-Publikum. Was das nun alles bedeutet, kann man noch nicht bewerten, aber in jedem Fall ist es ein cooler Moment für diese Show gewesen, selbst wenn nichts Großes daraus folgt."

It all culminated in a fantastic main event, filled with drama, intensity, creativity and memorable in-ring performances (shoutouts to Sami, Damien, Drew & Randy in particular). Plus, there was the return of Phil, who I'm not a fan of in the slightest, but it was a "big moment", for sure. Taken as a whole, however, the show was mid. Great main event, as I said, but kind of poor-to-lackluster everything else."

The mid-card was not worth anyone's time and unfortunately Miz got not the win over overrated Gunther. Just watch the main event and skip everthing else, if you value your time."

[9.0] "One of the best shows WWE has put on this year and one of the very best Survivor Series' OAT in my opinion, it's definitely up there with 2002. The entire card was good from top to bottom and all of the big moments felt grand and spectacular. Both WarGames matches were very entertaining, and the rest of the matches in between were good as well. Gunther and Miz had a good match, although kind of a let down for Gunther's standards, and both men had better matches before. Still a very good, competently worked bout. I can also certainly say the same thing for the Dragon Lee/Santos match and the Women's World Champion were also good matches as well, I especially love Santos' heel work, they really made him out to be the ultimate heel against Dragon Lee. But the best thing this show had going for it was the Chicago crowd. They were electric for everything, and the returns we saw here definitely helped with that. Randy Orton's big return got a grand pop from the Chicago faithful, even R-Truth got a loud pop for his. But man, the false copyright logo finish for CM Punk's return, that had me jumping up and down feeling like I was a kid again. Again, amazing show from top to bottom and one of my favorite PPV's of the entire year from all the major promotions."
[10.0] "This PLE from the HHH era stands out as the best so far. The match order was on point, although there's room for improvement in the timing. Nevertheless, HHH nailed the comeback timing for Punk and Randyundoubtedly, SvS was the perfect stage for their return."
[8.0] "It was a good PLE, the Women's War Games match was a little sloppy at times but there were some huge spots. The IC title match was a nice one, the storytelling was on point, Miz delivered some nice moves to show he's not just the joke he was for a long time these days. Escobar vs Dragon Lee was a fast-paced skills-festival but it was too short to be a real show-stealer. WWE Women's World title was underwhelming, it has so much potential but in the end the entrances almost were the best part of it. Men's War Games match was really nicely done, with that doubt about the Viper's coming... The end of the countdown, the empty entrance, the silence and then Mami's music and Rhea storming in with the MITB briefcase was perfect ! Then "I HAVE VOICES IN MY HEAD" and there he is ! Double perfect delivery ! The end of the match was really cool, some nice spots. And of course, when we think it's over, CM PUNK's theme blasts off and everyone goes MAD. Well, yeah, that PLE was a good one ESPECIALLY because its end was so perfectly delivered."
[7.0] "Thank god the WarGames were really good matches, 'cause if they weren't this PPV would have sucked eggs. Santos vs Dragon was a huge disappointment. Those two should've had a lucha fest, don't care for the Cornette-like fans, those two would've teared the house down doing what they know to do. Zoey vs Rhea was disappointing as I expected Zoey's wrestling skills to cover her character flaws, but it wasn't enough and the match was just good. Gunther vs Miz was a decent IC match, a well told story, but, like Santos vs Dragon Lee, it could've featured a better in-ring work that complemented the story. The WarGames were the best thing, both women's and men's matches ruled, but women's match didn't really need the WarGames stipulation. They didn't had a feud that heated to settle on this match and could've worked better on an Elimination match, but we are in the gender equality era, so women's can't "stay behind" men. The men's match, on the other hand, made this long and tedious feud interesting and fun to watch for once, a great storytelling, some good psychology, amazing performances by all men involved, a good swerve with the ruined cash-in, Randy Orton returning was a huge moment, but then the big bomb exploded. There was a posibility, but I thought they would wait for the Royal Rumble to drop it. Triple H is a master of delivering this kind of surprises. CM Punk is back, and his mere presence has shaken the foundations of WWE really, really hard. Oh, how could I forget, R-Truth is back too, funny comercial segment he had."
"I would give the show an 8.5/10. The Women's War Games match was meh in my opinion due to there not being much of a reason for the two teams to hate each other to this extent other than the fact that damage control got bigger. Some of the spots looked sloppy and out of place with the wrestlers looking a little confused. It was still serviceable nonetheless. Gunther and Miz put on a nice match with a smart match worked by Miz. I liked him working Gunther's legs to try to eliminate Gunther's powerful moveset and the finish was done well. Santos and Dragon Lee put on a decent match that did things well but should've had a little more time with more of a showing from Lee. Rhea Ripley and Zoey Stark put on a nice championship match that made me believe in Stark a little more than before. At times it felt like Zoey was a little nervous and trying to do flashy moves to get over but the crowd wasn't buying into it enough. Ripley was giving her all to make Stark look good and I believe she did a good job as the champion. Finally, the Men's War Games match was spectacular and told a great story with Judgement Day getting their comeuppance. The teasing of Randy throughout the night added more umph to the match and created a nice angle. Judgement Day did great as heels in making you believe the faces were in trouble. Seth and Finn were great picks for the Iron Men and necessary given their history. JD played his part perfectly as a rag doll for the crazy spots. Dom was used to perfection by coming in last, jumping everyone from behind since no one payed any attention to him and taking the beating from the four faces. Priest did well as leader and created a nice Dynamic with Drew. Drew and Jey's confrontation was a high point and made me feel for both men given the last year of storytelling. Sami also was a nice inclusion and worked well with the other faces. Cody coming in and using the bullrope with Seth was a great moment as well as the slight confrontation between the two, harkening back to their feud last year. The moment when the briefcase is seemingly being cashed in only for Randy to save the day is cathartic and brilliant. Randy helping clean house, giving the RKO to JD, being saved by Jey, all the faces hitting their finishers together, and Randy giving the final blow over to Cody was an excellent finish and a cap on an excellent match. I felt real catharsis from the match and enjoyed the payoff with Judgement Day and the Faces. Then, when the show seemed over, CM Punk's music hitting was an all time great moment that truly was shocking even despite the rumors. You could tell Punk was really happy to be back and accepted by that crowd. The moment with the fan saying Chicago over and over again with his voice being gone was incredible and I'm sure he'll never forget it. I find it funny that all of the dirt sheets said it was unlikely to happen, yet when it did they apparently knew all about what plans were going to be taking place. Anyways this show did exactly what wrestling is supposed to do in giving an unforgettable adrenaline rush with feuds and characters that matter and actually do meaningful things. I turned it off excited for what's next. Great show despite a few minor issues."
[10.0] "Ein Wahnsinniger WWE PLE! War Games ist eigentlich immer eine Geile Sache, auch wenn es eigentlich fast immer das selbe Prinzip ist. Ich finde es trotzdem Cool wie die WWE seit den letzten Jahren (Ob NXT oder im Main Roster) das War Games Match aufgebaut hat, trotzdem vermisse Ich auch ein wenig die Traditionellen Survivor Series Multi-Man Elimination Tag Team Matches. Die Show beginnt perfekt und zwar genau wie letztes Jahr mit dem War Games Match der Frauen. Hier hat mir nur eine Wrestlerin leider garnicht gefallen und ich frage mich wirklich was mit Kairi Sane hier los gewesen ist. Entweder war sie extrem nervös oder einfach nicht ganz bei der Sache, denn ihre Aktionen und ihr Selling sah schon extrem grausam hier bei dem Match aus. Aber das ist schon nun meckern auf Hohem Niveau. Es war ein Gutes War Games Match. Definitiv (****1/4). Gunther vs. The Miz hat dann richtig überzeugen können und Ich finde The Miz wird immer besser und besser im Ring. Das hier Gunther gewinnen wird war zu erwarten, aber langsam stell ich mir Wirklich die Frage: Wer Bitte Kann Gunther Enthronen? Wird es Wirklich Ilja Dragunov sein? Wer sonst? Mal schauen wie es hier weitergehen wird (***3/4). Von Escobar vs. Lee war Ich dann etwas enttäuscht. Wahrscheinlich hatte ich einfach zu Hohe Erwartungen, aber bei Dragon Lee darf man das schon haben. Seit langem einer meiner Top 5 Wrestler überhaupt. Ich bin gespannt wie er weiter bei der WWE aufgebaut wird. Leider verliert er hier absolut Clean gegen einen neuen Heel Santos Escobar, was Ich dennoch in Ordnung finde, denn ich hätte den neuen Heel Character von Escobar, nicht direkt unter gehen lassen (***). Rhea Ripley vs. Zoey Stark um den Womens World Championship war dann leider das Low Light dieses Events und Ripley hat absolut keine würdige Herausforderung. Mittlerweile müsste man wirklich Jade Cargill gegen Ripley aufbauen. Main Event war für mich dann ganz klar das Match of the Night. Alle Wrestler die an diesem Match beteiligt gewesen sind haben einfach eine starke Performance gezeigt. Grade die Returns von Randy Orton und CM Punk sind Wahnsinn gewesen. Die Momente die hier kreiert wurden werden ewig halten (****3/4). Ich gebe der Show 10 Punkte."

The women's match might have had the best action, but very much followed the WWE WarGames formula where once we get to THE MATCH BEYOND, the two teams trade advantage back and forth a few times until somebody does a big spot off the top of the cage, rinse and repeat. The men's match maybe didn't have spots as spectacular as, say, IYO coming off the cage inside a garbage can, but was a bit more story driven and the action felt a bit more organic. (I will admit that I'm not a huge fan of the WWE rendition of the WarGames rules either; personally I'd rather see it be submission-only with a roof on the cage - the confined environment and brutal rules were the point of the original match, after all). The midcard was very average - Gunther and Miz had the best of the singles matches, though it wasn't among Gunther's strongest recent PPV matches, while Ripley-Stark and Escobar-Lee just kind of existed. As for Punk's return... well, I hope it's worth it."

"I seriously do not know what people are huffing prior to rating WWE shows. This was a bang average "PLE" slightly boosted by the obvious "shocking surprise" return of CM "it's been _ days since my last backstage incident" Punk. This would get a 6 from me, though I wouldn't roll my eyes if you went up to 7.5. But having this sit over 8 destroys the usefulness of Cagematch ratings. Can we rate shows and matches objectively rather than as WWEstans, AEWhaters, or the reverse of each? I don't know if you think you're helping "your team" or sticking it to "the enemy, " but you're destroying the usefulness of this site, and that's sad, especially for those of us who used the site for ages to cherry pick the best stuff to watch from everything that made tape. As for the show itself: the war games matches were aggressively fine, WALTER vs Miz was what it should have been, though a waste of one of the best workers today, Escobar Vs Dragon Lee was a 3* match between 2 guys who could sleepwalk to a 4 star match in any other promotion. Why sign Dragon Lee if you're going to limit him to this extent? Punks return was a legit moment with a capital "M" that temporarily reignited my interest in WWE for close to 48 hours until his dead behind the eyes RAW promo ended that. But that was RAW, can't hold that against survivor series. 6.1 out of 10."

None of the matches were great but nothing was awful and it moved at a brisk enough pace it didn't really matter anyway. Undercard matches were mostly too short, but other than the Rhea match which was bad (but short) it was all fine. Gunther/Miz thowaway match punched above its weight and was probably the best match of the evening. Wargames matches were fun but disjointed, too PG and too long. Io Skye garbage can spot was the spot of the evening."

And the wargames are just "spotfest watered down hardcore matches that were ultimately decent but nothing particularly memorable" as someone rightly said, it's two 35 minutes matches where only the last 10 minutes matters...it's almost like an Okada match, but a bad one. So here we are with another mid WWE PPV, they had no bad ones this year but except for a few ones they all have been MID"
[8.0] "A nice enjoyable PPV. Opens up with the Women's WarGames match that as most WWE bouts with the gimmick is a bit spotfesty but still a really fun one. Nice callback with IYO using the trash can again (8/10) Miz had probably his best 1 on 1 match in a while thanks to GUnther and plenty of good references to Bret Hart (8/10) Santos/Lee was a fun lucha bout with Dragon Lee really getting to showcase his speed and agility, just wish it had been a little longer (7/10) Ripley/Stark was a decent enough match with some hard hitting stuff sprinkled throughout but even with Rhea being amazing this short match was just fine (6/10) The Men's WarGames match was slightly better than the opener from the get go, having the proper advantage dynamic and a few more interesting feuds and dynamics coming together. Got really good once Mcintyre was in and had a great closing stretch with the Cash in fakeout and Randy's return (9/10). Oh and also Punk is back that helps the score too"

Ignoring the hype, ignoring all the fanfare and nonsensical news and sensationalism attached to it, ignore the fact that Punk is without a doubt having proven in the last year he is a washed-up, injury-prone, whiny self-martyring hypocrite who cares more about selling out and spiting people than his own personal sesne of dignity - ignore all that, and we have a bog standard, flat, boring WWE prime event show that really only had one and a half good matches, lots of boring filller, nothing but predictable and painfully simple spots and conclusions... but sure, lets pretend this is "one of the best ppvs of the year" because Punk went back on his word and wasted 10 years of his life just to come back crawling to WWE tail between his legs. WWE puts what feels like ZERO effort into their product, ZERO thought into thier matches, and ZERO believability that everyone involved actually cares about the product they are putting out. WWE fans are so desperate to believe Seth's angry reaction to PUnk coming back is an instant work and just completely ignoring the last 3 years all together. It's going to be really sad actually when They give Punk seth's belt in 2 months at Royal Rumble so that they can avoid whoever wins the match to face Roman in anything meaningful just to have Cody lose to him 2 years in a row. Especially after Seth worked so hard to make that belt important, now Punk gets to be the Rock in this scenario... you know unless he breaks his foot again or gets in a real fight with someone backstage."
[7.0] "A solid, well-paced WWE event elevated heavily by Punk's appearance. None of the matches themselves were incredibly memorable from a ringwork or storytelling perspective, at least not to me, and a lot of the hype behind this PPV comes from looking forward. There's a lot of set-up here, and I think shows like this are neccessary to keep momentum moving, so long as there's payoff in sight. Judgement Day vs Cody's Superfriends has hopefully reached its conclusion, and there's seemingly more than enough to keep the roster occupied until Wrestlemania. Punk/Rollins, Priest turning on Judgement Day, Jey/Orton, hopefully something substantial for Cody. It's an exciting time for WWE with an entertaining roster top to bottom, but a lot of that excitement comes from waiting for payoff rather than anything occuring in the present."
[10.0] "Without the end this would probably be a high 8, low 9, I still really enjoyed both war games matches. The matches in the middle were fluff and didn't wow but did their job and had the right people go over. Best match of the night, in my opinion, was the women's war games. Just the perfect blend of strong and high flying superstars made for so many cool spots. Iyo Sky looked like a star, and Flair really pulled her weight too. I didn't like the result, if they want us to take Damage Ctrl seriously they're going to have to start giving them wins and this seemed like a clear place for that, with Shotzi in there none of the big stars would have to take a pin. Out of anyone too I don't think Becky needed to get the win, she's been put over so many times at this point this doesn't help her as much as it would someone else. As for the men's match, this had less impressive in ring moments, but had the better story telling and the right team went over. Randy's return was epic and I actually liked that they teased it out more, he was also electric in the ring. But, after all that the thing that pushes this up to a 10 was something I never thought I would actually see. CM Punk's long awaited return to WWE was one of the greatest moments of the past 5 years. I also loved the simplicity of it, they put it on at the very end as to know affect any part of the show, nor show who he may be feuding with. He came out in a simple outfit, didn't say anything but just embraced the crowd. He knew and the crowd knew how huge of a moment this was and it was cool to let it all just soak in. Monday night after SS will be one of the most watched of all time, WWE just got one of the best wrestlers in the world (no pun intended) and there are so many directions they can go with him. Till the day I die, I will remember Survivor Series 2023."

The Wargames matches were more spotfest watered down "hardcore" matches that were ultimately decent but nothing particularly memorable. All the other matches were quick and thus inconsequential despite ostensibly being important title challenges. We got to witness the worst Gunther match of his reign. The Santos vs Dragon Lee match could have been exhibition but was way too short. Rhea continues to be dominant with all challengers being laughably outclassed. This show was elevated by the returns, but overall ok or satisfactory in its essence."
[10.0] "It is a greatest Suvivor Series War Games. Almost all matches are exceptional, worthy of the greatest match in the history of the Survivor Series. The two War Games were exceptional, with Kairi Sanes intervention for the womens War Games and spectacular actions, not to mention the return of Randy Orton in the ring during the mens War Games and who made us Randy, a RKO on the fly and the DDT of the second string in sync with the other wrestlers of his team. The return of R-Thruth was not bad backstage. And of course the return of the "Best in the World" CM Punk at the end of the show after 9 years of absenses."
[7.0] "Wer hätte es gedacht, dass CM Punk hier wirklich zurückkehrt - ich jeden falls nicht. Die Survivor Serie 2023 wird auch genau deshalb in Erinnerung bleiben, es ist die Show, bei der CM Punk zur WWE zurückgekehrt ist. Die Matches sind zwar allesamt in Ordnung bis ordentlich, rücken aber sicherlich in den Hintergrund, wenn es um die Berichterstattung geht. Dabei fand ich das alles besser, als bei den letzten 2 PPVs. Beide WarGames Match waren ordentlich. Ich fand die Story um Randy Orton zwar überflüssig, am Ende hatte sie aber keinen Einfluss auf das Match selber, anders als zuletzt bei MJF gegen Jay White. Ich bin nicht so der Fan davon, dass die Matches erst 25-30 Minuten laufen müssen, bevor etwas zählbares passieren kann, daher bin ich nicht der größte Befürworter von WarGames, fand die beide Matches hier aber dennoch ordentlich. Ziemlich cool fand ich auch Gunther vs. The Miz, die ganz klar aufgespielt haben, dass Miz eigentlich keine Chance hat und daher zu jedem Trick greifen muss. Hat gut funktioniert. Escobar vs. Dragon Lee, welcher in kürzester Zeit im Main Roster angekommen ist, war ganz nett und Ripley vs. Zoey solide. Man merkt halt, dass Ripley deutlich über allen anderen steht."

[9.0] "Apart from the returns this was a good ppv, probably a 7.0, but CM Punk incredible return gotta raise the rating a lot. It was in my opinion the greatest return in history of pro-wrestling. A lot of rumors, teases and anticipation, the ppv being in Chicago, all made it perfect. They say it's the most well kept secret in the history of the business, and I believe it. No leaks, we were all pessimistic at the end, and then the credits rolled up and we thought it was over, but he showed up. Wild to see Punk in WWE again, every thing about this until this moment feels like an A.I. generated stuff, a fan-made, but it's real. Wild times."
[9.0] "This was my second ever live wrestling show (first WWE) and it was a total blast. As someone who doesn't actively watch current day WWE and is generally unaware of what's happening, I still had a great time. Our seats were on the opposite end of the entrance ramp and were close enough that we had a great view of the second ring. The War Games matches were the highlights for sure, at least in terms of in-ring action, but there really weren't any dull moments. Of course, the real treat was the unexpected return of CM Punk and the deafening reaction he got. I still can't believe that happened -- I can now scratch another thing off my bucket list (attending a show that had a serious WTF/holy shit moment). I also don't want to dismiss the incredible ovation that the returning Randy Orton got either. Just a fun show all around with an incredible ending."
[10.0] "Great Survivor Series: WarGames PLE this year with no match I did not enjoy, Randy Orton returning was great to see even though it was announced prior, but CM Punk making his return after the main event was shocking to say the least. Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair & Shotzi vs Asuka, Bayley, IYO SKY & Kairi Sane: One of the better women's WarGames matches, with the action being solid throughout, some memorable spots like Charlotte Flair hitting the moonsault from the top of the cage, definitely recommend [****1/2]. Gunther vs The Miz: Good title defense for Gunther, The Miz proved to be a good underdog for the longest reigning champion Gunther [***1/2]. Santos Escobar vs Dragon Lee: Decent match that featured some decent lucha libre wrestling, Santos Escobar winning was obvious though [***]. Rhea Ripley vs Zoey Stark: Better than I had expected it to be, Zoey Stark brought her best but unfortunately it wasn't enough to dethrone Rhea Ripley [***1/4]. Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Randy Orton, Sami Zayn & Seth Rollins vs Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio, Drew McIntyre, Finn Balor & JD McDonagh: The better of the two WarGames matches at this years Survivor Series, the attempted MITB cash in from Priest & Rhea Ripley only to be interrupted by the returning Randy Orton was funny, some crazy spots, and the action was solid throughout, glad Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Randy Orton, Sami Zayn & Seth Rollins won [*****]"

[8.0] "It was a pretty good, entertaining Premium Live Event. It had all the ingredients of a night to remember: excellent in-ring quality (mostly), drama, a surprise comeback, and a goofy Alpha Academy/Pretty Deadly/R-Truth segment. The Women's War Games match was terrific. It started solid & hot and didn't stop for the entire match. Iyo Sky's move from the top of the cage was insane, as well as Charlotte Flair's moonsault. Becky Lynch's finisher on Bayley through a table will be remembered for some time. The Intercontinental Championship match was decent enough. It wasn't as good as previous title matches for Gunther, but it certainly delivered. Also, The Miz is so entertaining; he can do it all. The Dragon Lee & Santos Escobar match was good but too short. If this is the start of a long-standing feud, it should have gotten a more significant highlight on this bright stage. The Women's World Championship match was better than I expected. I thought it would be more of a squash, but Zoey put up a decent fight. This one was too short as well. They should have gotten at least 15 minutes. The main event (Men's War Games match) started slow and only picked up once Randy Orton entered the match. The whole atmosphere (intensity and a sense of urgency) had changed, and it was felt. The spot where all five babyfaces hit their signature moves was pretty awesome. The RKO on JD was spectacular. I can't believe how good Orton looks. I hope he can have another long run in WWE. I think CM Punk's return to WWE is bad for business, but only time will tell..."
[9.0] "The women's WarGames opener was really good and had a story-driven outcome that made sense, though the wrong team won (8/10). Gunther vs Miz for the Intercontinental Title was good, another notch on Gunther's belt as the most dominant IC champion of all time (7/10). Santos Escobar vs Dragon Lee was a solid match, but it deserved more time (6/10). Rhea Ripley vs Zoey Stark for the Women's World Title was decent and there was no doubt who was winning, still it could have been better (5.5/10). The main event men's WarGames match saw the long-awaited return of Randy Orton and featured an incredible top of the cage RKO that's bound to be shown on highlight reels for years to come (8.5/10). Just when it looked like the show was about to go off the air, CM Punk makes his return to WWE after nearly a decade away as the crowd absolutely goes bonkers. The middle of the show was a lot of filler, which was to be expected, but they were good enough matches. The opening and main event WarGames matches delivered. The return of CM Punk elevated what was already a strong, memorable PLE. Survivor Series: Wargames 2023 gets a 9/10."

You had two fantastic War Games matches, a fucking molten hot crowd and of course, the best part about this show, the return of R Truth. And also Randy Orton and CM Punk showed up as well. The mid card was kinda mid (pun absolutely intended) with the IC title match being good but not great, Lee vs Escobar being good but short, and Rhea vs Zoey being just kinda OK. But the returns, war games matches and crowd really made this show into one of my favourites of the year. WWE are have so much momentum right now and I'm extremely hyped to see how they capitalise on it."

[6.0] "First of all, WWE should choose either a male or female Wargames match and have one per show. They didn't have enough creative ideas for one match so two was redundant. The matches themselves were limp and uncreative - though the men's one at least had the hot finish due to the return of Orton. AEW's bloody deathmatches make WWE hardcore matches look so tame and over produced they may be better leaving it to them. The matches in the middle of the show were not PPV standard."
[8.0] "Well if you ignore the midcard and only watch the opener and the main event plus Punk's debut this would be a 9/10 for me. But like a lot of cards with two multi person matches sometimes that hurts the midcard and a midcard is really important to me since if you watch the whole show (which like how could I rate this if I didn't? ) you're going to spend a long time watching midcard matches. So I'll give this an 8/10 for being obviously a very historic show with Punk returning and two stellar war games matches. My match of the night was the women's wargames match. I just thought it was better than the men's to be honest. I will say that the Miz vs Gunther was waaay better than I ever would have expected as I am NOT a fan of the Miz in the ring at all, but Gunther managed to make it entertaining for me. The other two mid card matches were super average and extremely boring. Of course though CM Punk's return is really the highlight of the whole show. Apparently Seth Rollins was pissed he returned irl which is kind of strange I always assumed his hate towards Punk was a work in case Punk ever returned but nah Rollins was shoot pissed off. Wrestling is a strange hobby but the excellent matches and reading about the backstage drama never gets old haha."

Für mich eine der besten Shows, die die WWE dieses Jahr hatte und seit langem eine wirkich gute Survivor Series Show, welche in den letzten Jahren immer am wenigsten Vorfreude bei mir gesorgt hat und schon ein bisschen von Money in the Bank als Big 4 PPV in meinen Augen ersetzt wurde."
[8.0] "well well, we saw two great WarGames match, great atmosphere and 3 returns. very nice to see R Truth return, because we were missing him for a long time. and my guy, Randy. although we knew that he was going to return, but it was still stunning. that was the right decision for him, to come out separately at the last minutes of the match. Women's Championship match was pretty average, just like many other Rhea's title defenses. Santos and Lee should've had much longer time than that, and 8 minutes wasn't enough at all but it was still good. Gunther vs The Miz was cool, but should've been faster with more violent spots, because of the tense between these two in their promos. and CM Punk! WOW I was losing my hope to see his return to the WWE and they even showed their trademark and I thought this is over, but suddenly the theme song played and the crowd went nuts! it was an absolutely remarkable move by both WWE and CM Punk. for me this show was higher than the Elimination Chamber, and lower than Wrestlemania, which means it takes place as the 2nd best WWE PPV of 2023 for me."

The show was fueled by the returns of Randy Orton and CM Punk which was absolutely out of nowhere (but still sensational). The best moment was the return of the CM Punk , I felt chills as soon as I heard cult of personality , good moment and well worked , Seth's reaction was also really funny too when he flipped Punk off . Just hoping Punk doesn't have the backstage issues he had in aew. The best match was the main event mens wargames , the stiff with Randy was well worked , I liked how they made us think Randy wasnt coming , but deep down we knew he was. Also enjoyed that Randy didn't turn on Jey , they might still have issues to settle though. Worst match was Rhea vs Zoey , Rhea has another generic ple defense , she needs better opponents , Rodriguez was good but after that they kind of fell off. I would like to see Rhea vs a new fresh talent , like a Candice Lerae , or maybe another main eventer like Becky Lynch. The match was fine , Zoey is improving , but it needed more time to fully sell the story. Match ratings : womens wargames 8/10 , Gunther vs Miz 7/10 , Santos vs Lee 7/10 , Rhea vs Zoey 7/10 , Mens Wargames 9/10. And finally CM Punks return was a perfect 10."

The Rhea match was ok at best. Just not a very good show especially compared to Full Gear."

The ladies match had a couple nice spots and Bayley was really working, but the match overall was sloppy and Shotzie was a mess. The men's match was much smoother and cohesive. Gunther's match was ok, pretty by the numbers stuff from Miz as expected. Dragon Lee match was fine. Zoey Stark was not a good match up for Rhea, who is absolutely the crowd favorite."

Zoey and Rhea gave a descent match, but nothing special the same with the Santos and Dragon match. The part that was pretty confusing was the forced CM Punk thing at the end it did not give us anything for us he said nothing and did not start any feud. It is like is he actually part of WWE or did he just walk in and HHH was just like yeah go ahead and go say hey to the Chicago crowd, but you can't do anything else. It felt like it should have just ended after the War Games match and Punk should have just been a small thing for those that bought tickets."

Rhea's reign is still booked horribly and feels like an afterthought as far as actual wrestling and feuds. Dragon Lee wasn't given enough time. The war games matches were mediocre as is every match of that type since 1992. Can a Punk debut outweigh all of the negatives from one of the worse ppvs this year? In the fan's eyes yes. As a moment, it was fantastic. For the long term, I'm not how many unbearable worked shoots from Seth Rollins, one of the worst wrestler currently, I can take if that will be Punk's first feud."

Randy Orton made his anticipated return and what a way to come back with this super RKO midair it was fn dope ! This PPV was for me THE PPV of the year for this incredible matches but obviously for the BIGGEST RETURN EVER IN WWE IN HIS HOMETOWN : CM PUNK ! They played so greatly well making it at the very end even unleashing the credits no way I repeat this very often but this is true : only wrestling on this Earth has the capacity to make me go through a real rollercoaster like this ! WWE caped off their big year with this killer of a PPV I cannot wait for the future of this company! ITS CLOBBERING TIME !"

[7.0] "Solid show, not a lot to write home about except for the last match, pretty meh opener, miz Gunther was very good, Lee and Escobar and stark and Rhea felt like filler unfortunately, it was almost a one match show but what a match it was, the main event delivered gangbusters, very well worked wargames that tied all the storylines for the last 6 months on raw, and Randy's return was pretty awesome, the fact that they remembered that the Usos took him out was pretty cool, and great final sequence. Also Punk returned but at this point I couldn't less about him. Overall fun show with a few dead spots but a great main event"
[7.0] "I don't really consider myself a fan of the WWE WarGames matches, even the NXT ones, I find they feel sanitized and over-produced. That being said, this show was pretty good. Gunther wrecking people will always be top tier wrestling, both WarGames matches were well executed spot fests, I preferred the womens WarGames match to the mens one but the booking is nonsensical to me, Damage CTRL losing is a bad decision and takes shine off of Kairi after her return. The mens match had the right winner, and that RKO McDonagh ate at the end was gnarly, and of course, the CM Punk return is exciting, it looks like he's going to be moving into a feud with Seth Rollins which has a lot of potential. I often find WWE's big shows underwhelming, as outside of Gunther I don't really love the position many of the guys on their roster are in, but having Punk around may change that."
[7.0] "It's going to be remembered as the PPV that CM Punk returned at and I got goosebumps so great that it ups the rating automatically, plus the matches were fine, especially the main event. It started out with women's War Games once again which put me in a bad mood from the start. The women there aren't as over as they should be to make this stipulation work so the fans didn't really care, but then Gunther had another fantastic match, this time against The Miz with the crowd all behind him. Santos and Lee did what they could storywise with the time they got and Rhea had an okay match with Zoey, but it wasn't the star making performance for Stark. And then the main event was booked fantastically with Randy's electric comeback. Everybody was over there so it was a really easy watch and the RKO from the top of the cage looked incredible. Great PPV and because of Punk for the first time in months I'm willing to watch RAW."
[8.0] "The two War Games were really great, better than last year's imo in term of in-ring action. I liked the suspense around Orton's return and the failed attempt to cash-in during the men's match. The three single matches were individually good but as a whole the middle of the show was too slow-paced. I still regret the absence of most Smackdown's biggest stars on this card. But overall I enjoyed the show and Punk's return at the end came as a big and well-concealed surprise !"
[6.0] "In terms of bell to bell, this show disappointed me as the 3 non War Games matches were all matches that I expected more from. Both War Games matches themselves were satisfactory enough but I did not feel that either reached the heights that they could have in terms of emotion. Not a bad show but not a great show either."
[7.0] "This probably won't go down as one of the best PPVs even just this year, but aside from the Women's title match nothing stood out as bad or boring. Nothing stood out as particularly good either, but the two returns make this at least worth a watch if only for the pops"
[8.0] "A really good PPV with freaking CM Punk return (oh, and R-Truth and Orton). None of the matches were bad, War Games matches went just as expected and again, CM Punk returned!"
[9.0] "Da habe ich mir eine gute Nacht ausgesucht, um mal wieder wach zu bleiben. Das Damen-Match war wirklich stark und hatte mehrere starke Spots. Miz und WALTER hat besser funktioniert als ich es erwartet habe. Miz hat als Under Dog trotz Face-Rolle sehr klug und zugleich dreckig gecatcht, was eine gewisse Spannung eingebracht hat. Nach dem Tiefschlag mit anschl. Finisher hatte ich kurz Panik. Am Ende profitieren beide sehr stark und liefern ein Match, das mir hier etwas unwürdig wegkommt. Auf Escobar und ganz besonders Dragon Lee habe ich mich sehr gefreut. Hier blieb man leider unter meinen Erwartung und ich finde es schade, dass man Dragon die Niederlage nehmen lässt. Carlito hätte es deutlich eher vertragen können. Ripley und Zoey Stark brauchte uch nicht unbedingt. Aber am Ende ist es eine runde - wenn auch nicht all zu spektakuläre - Geschichte. Der Main Event war das das MOTN mit guten Spots, einigen Erzählsträngen und solidem Wrestling. Ich hoffe, dass man das in meinen Augen einzig Richtige weiter führt und mit der Face-Gruppierung untereinander weiter macht. Dann der Schocker am Ende. Ich hatte nicht mehr damit gerechnet, fand des aber super geil und freue mich irgendwie wirklich über das Comeback von Punk, das trotz aller Gerüchte rational einfach nicht zu erwarten war."
[10.0] "I only had one expectation from the show and I got it. A true never say never moment happened at this show. When this show was announced, Punk was an active wrestler in AEW. The show wasn't meant for him but we, the fans made him return to WWE. I am very happy to see it. We've waited so long for him."
[9.0] "We came into this event with a lot of steam behind because all the matches had good builds on television in the past weeks (and long term booking for the main ones). All the match between the WarGames match needed, in my opinion, to be at least 15 minutes each but they were still good match. Both WarGame match were amazing with really good spots and good ideas. Good pop for Randy Orton comeback. I'm happy to see R-Truth back too. The crowd was good from the start. I didn't imagine that CM PUNK will comeback in WWE for Survivor Series One of my favorite shows of the year."
[9.0] "CM Punk is back! The Second City Saint has returned to grace us after almost 10 years away from a WWE ring. Aside from that, this show was great, if a bit standard in between the bookends. Gunther vs. The Miz (****) was the main standout in the mid-card - not Gunther's best match, but The Miz looked better than he has in a while. Escobar vs. Dragon Lee (***3/4) was a fun sprint, although not quite as creative as I would've hoped. Rhea vs Zoey (***1/2) was also fun. This show really was a tale of two matches - the WarGames bouts. The women's match was the best match of the night in-ring (****1/2), with all eight women (including Shotzi, who took some NASTY bumps) putting their work in and the inevitable ousting of Bayley from Damage Control being touched on. The men's match (****1/4) was fun, Randy looked amazing in his return, and the CM Punk appearance alone at the end is worth a point. The fakeout was perfectly done. Bravo, Triple H."
[10.0] "The best WWE PLE of the year and that's saying alot because we've had some 10/10 PLEs like Mania Night 1 and Backlash from Puerto Rico. I think the rest of the show could've benefited from starting with CM Punk's return to get it out of the way so there weren't so many chants throughout the night similar to what AEW did on rampage when he debuted there but at the same time I absolutely loved Triple H doing his signature show closing fake out for this return ending the night with it absolutely insane didn't see it coming. Both War Games were great, crazy spots in both matches, probably the best women's War Games yet although I think the incorrect team won, men's War Games I was a little distracted but Randy's return after Damian almost cashing in during War Games was dope. The other three matches went how I expected but were solid nonetheless especially Santos vs Dragon Lee which was dope. Crowd was great too with or without CM Punk."
[10.0] "From the beginning to end it was an absolute barn burner of a PLE, r-truth, Randy Orton and CM Punk returning. In top of all the great work with the women's war games match, some of the best high flying moments and action I've seen in a while, followed by The Miz v Gunther absolutely great showing entertaining from start to finish and another showcase for the Miz's in ring abilities. Escobar v Lee was probably the low light of the night but still atheltically pleasing. Rhea and Stark was a great match for both all be it a predictable outcome. The men's war games match was a bit slow an cumbersome but well covered by both the return of Orton and Punk. Great PLE for anyone to watch."
[10.0] "This is, until now, the best event of 2023. Amazing opener with the joshi squad acting perfectly, Charlotte and Becky telling a great story, and even Shotzi fitting perfectly. Bayley losing advances the story of Damage CTRL. Gunther is fantastic and the feud with Miz made sense, and adds to the former's credentials by beating a multi-time IC champion. And the main event was the best War Games for at least 30 years. It was War Games, not Hardcore Dumpster Games. Stories, heels being heels, faces being faces, Randy returning and looking jacked. Plus CM Punk, in a controlled environment in which he can wrestle. Wrestling is good."
[10.0] "Giving it a 10 for a few reasons but those reasons are really important. First of all the 2 war games matches delivered and were better than the 2 from last year. The rest of the card ranged from boring to solid but nothing offensively bad. But the main thing that made this show a 10 for me is the Returns of 2 of the all time greats and 2 of my favorites ever. Cm punk and Randy orton an insane back to back wave of energy that made me feel like a little kid again its honestly a moment Ill never forget thus makes this show a 10/10 an all timer Survivor series."
[10.0] "tbh in my opinion this is the best wwe ppv of the year, and prolly best under triple H, not because of the wrestling but because of all the hype around it, we got randy, punk, and most importantly r truth back all in one ppv. the war games matches were both very good, the filler was meh, but the womens war games match is the best womens match I have watched. The fact that everyone believed cm punk was coming back until like 2 days before the ppv which everyone flipped made his return that much better."
[10.0] "I found the women's War Games match to be the best I've ever witnessed. The spots were incredible, and both Damage CTRL and the face team performed exceptionally well. Iyo Sky and Charlotte Flair stood out as the MVPs. The men's War Games match between Judgment Day and Cody Rhodes' team was also highly impressive. The overall execution added another layer of excitement to an already engaging event."

All hail the king - HHH kept nuclear return in a secret till the end in front of everybody. He signed dozen hours ago, wow. At the end of the day every wrestling spectacle is remembered in category of memorability. Finally WWE delivered absolutely unpredictable from all of predictable moments. I'm so hyped for what the future will show us regarding CM Punk's legendary arrival, hands down again."
[9.0] "Matches ranging from solid to great, lots of excitement, surprise returns, the show had everything I could want in a PPV. Both wargames matches were high octane fun all the way through and everyone involved comes away better. The mid-card matches could've been stronger, but they definitely weren't bad. The Miz came off as a believable competitor and Gunther continues his momentous reign, Santos Escobar establishes himself in a more significant role as a heel, and both Dragon Lee and Zoey Stark had good showings even in their losses. We're ultimately left with intrigue over how each storyline is going to progress. And of course, the returns of both Randall Keith Orton and the Best in the World, R-Truth, were great. And so was the other guy's return."
[10.0] "Best PLE of the year by WWE. The womans match over delivered with a lot of plunder. The miz was the most entertaining and motivated that Ive saw in a long long time. The whole dynamic of the mens match was amazing it had an amazing build and you understood why all of the men in the match wanted to fight. At the end with CM punk returning was the cherry on top what an absolute amazing ending Im so excited to see where this goes from here. Wwe has been hitting on all cylinders since HHH got the book and anyone who doesnt see that is just a hater plain and simple ."
[8.0] "Great PLE, started off with a great War Games match between the two women teams, with Bianca's team getting a victory over Damage Control, Gunther beating the Miz wasn't much of a surprise. Santos Escobar and Dragon Lee had a decent bout, as did Rhea Ripley and Zoey Stark. The main event saw Cody Rhodes lead his team in a victory over Judgment Day. Randy Orton did finally show up and got a huge pop, but the big surprise of the night was C.M. Punk showing up after the match was over to begin his final run. Great time."

[7.0] "Of course, we will all remember this show for the return of a certain man (It's not R-Truth), but it shouldn't makes us forget that show was kind of underwhelming. Women's Wargames was cool, but nothing exceptional, and I'm not a big fan of the result. Gunther proved us that he can have an amazing match with anybody ... but The Miz is maybe a challenge too tough for him. Overall the midcard was just fillers with forgettable matches. Main event was pretty much made for the return of Randy Orton, we waited for him, he lasted 5 minutes and it was over. So the 15 last minutes of the show will be remembered for a long time, but don't close your eyes for the rest"
[9.0] "Favourite match of the night was the Women's WarGames match, with the Charlotte Flair/Becky Lynch hug making me very emotional. I liked but didn't love the three matches in the middle of the show, the results were obvious and the matches didn't take any major structural or physical risks. The main event was good but not as tight as the opening WarGames, and let down a little by some weak performances from Uso and McIntyre who didn't convince me. But this was the most fun I've had with a WWE show in a long time, the Orton return was perfectly done, and it did such a good job at making me think that Punk wouldn't be there so that when Cult of Personality played, I completely lost it. Can't believe he's back in WWE. I never thought I'd see the day. Been mixed on the last few PPVs but this was a special night and I hope that the fed is able to keep the momentum going, and that Punk doesn't burn all bridges in this company."
[10.0] "Well we got a new contender for Greatest Survivor Series Of All Time, either him or the 2002 one. The matches went from satisfaying to All-Timer, the crowd was hot and the Wargames were the two best matches of the night and both may be All-Timer and we got an All Out 2021 like ending. This maybe the 10 greatest final minutes of a Wrestling show all time that I watched. The two biggest returns of the year and they all delivered in their own way. Anyway MVP's of the night, 5: Charlotte Flair, 4: Jey Uso, 3: Iyo Sky, 2: Cody Rhodes and 1: Randall Keith Orton (Honorable Mentions: Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn and CM Punk which I obiously can't put elsewhere)"
[10.0] "Without a shadow of a doubt one of the best PLEs in WWE this year, if not the best. All the fights were good, but the two WarGames were brilliant; countless incredible spots, full of surprises and culminating in Randy Orton's return to the ring and soon with a candidate for the top 10 of the best RKOs of all time! The audience was a solid 10/10 and took the show to even higher levels, not to mention the super reception they gave their homeboy CM Punk. 2023 and Punk in WWE, who expected this at the beginning of the year... sometimes the more things change the more they stay the same. Is Roman's reign in danger or will Cody remain the top choice? These will be answers that we will see in the next episodes. What a great Survivor Series, what a great War Games, Dusty Rhodes is definitely smiling in heaven."
[8.0] "Great show overall. A disappointing Gunther defence was really my only real criticism. Everyone else either delivered as expected or over delivered. Of the two WarGames matches, the womens was my favourite (that Iyo Sky trashcan spot might be the best thing Ive seen all year), but both delivered to a high standard and showcase the potential of this format. Surprisingly didnt find either match overbooked, despite the potential for it, all the spots made sense logistically. Singles matches werent as strong, but were still enjoyable, particularly the Rhea/Zoey Stark one. And then the ending happened and the roof came off."
[8.0] "Good show overall. Seeing Randy and Punk come back brought tears to my eyes. So happy to see them continuing with this company. The women's War games match was probably the match of the night for match quality. Mans War Games match had the most going for it of course. the Woman's World title match and the Santos and dragon lee match were passable. The Intercontinental Champion match got me going, some very good close spots in that match that made me nearly think Miz would take Chris Jericho's record IC title reigns. Good event.
