But the opener was an Astonishing match between Rollins and Roman, and the women's rumble was filled with good spots, returns, storytelling and entertainment. Everything that followed those 2... was really bad. The mixed tag match between beth, edge and maryse with miz was okay, but Brock vs Lashley was horrible alongside the men's rumble, and Becky vs Doudrop was pretty boring aside 3 spots. Not a good show, and very below par when it comes to a royal rumble."

Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins was a 10 / 10 match for me, with long term story telling that continues to this very day 3 years later, the women's rumble was fine (though winner didn't set well with me) and the men's royal rumble was potentially their worst ever, with not a lot to enjoy. The rest was all filler no killer, nothing outside of the lesnar lashley match impressed me at all, but nothing particularly abhorrent"

[2.0] "The last Royal Rumble event with Vince McMahon as the head of creative and it is the purest example of just how creatively bankrupt WWE was in the start of 2022. The opening match between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns was easily the match of the night. I like Seth playing mind games by coming out in Shield attire but all of the good was completely undone by a bullshit DQ finish. I didn't understand it then and I still don't understand why they just didn't have Reigns beat Seth outright. The women's Royal Rumble match was uneventful as Ronda Rousey made her surprise return by last eliminating Charlotte, who was SmackDown Women's Championship by the way. You could tell that Rousey was completely checked out by that point and the fans felt that. Becky Lynch and Doudrop for the Raw Women's Championship was serviceable but nobody could take Doudrop seriously and I think Becky still had some heat from what happened at SummerSlam. The WWE Championship match between Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar was more of an angle than a match when Paul Heyman expectedly turned on Brock. The mixed tag match pairing the married couples of Edge and Beth Phoenix against The Mix and Maryse was quite uneventful. The main event was even more boring than the women's Rumble as Brock Lesnar won. The match had a weak field and Brock came out as the last entract and tossed out everyone to the apathy of the audience. Nobody wanted Brock to win another Rumble and main-event another goddamn WrestleMania with Roman Reigns. The feud was completely overdone and WWE tried to spark interest by having Brock win back the WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber to turn into an unification match. This show was very mediocre and started the Road to WrestleMania 38 off to a bad start."

What I didn't really like was the main event. However, otherwise it was a pretty good show with some pretty good matches and one that didn't disappoint me personally. The best was definitely the Seth vs. Roman match, as well as the Lesnar vs. Lashley match. However, I also found the women's matches enjoyable. As far as I'm concerned, the show is safe to watch and I'm ready to give it 7/10"

[Women's Rumble] - 2.25 stars. [Becky vs Doudrop] - 1.25 stars (Worst of the Night). [Lesnar vs Lashley] - 3 stars. [Beth/Edge vs Miz/Maryse] - 2.5 stars. [Men's Rumble] - 2 stars. Both men's obnoxious pushes pretty much ruined the whole ppv since the WHOLE Men's Rumble match was sacrificed just to get those bores over. Hell, Bobby Lashley won the WWE title here (which feels like ancient history now at this point), and it was almost forgotten because God forbid that someone else shines instead of Roman Reigns (or even Brock Lesnar since he ended up winning the rumble match that he didn't deserve in the first place). The ppv sucked overall largely due to both men."

Rollins' victory, as far as I remember, did not lead to anything in the future, after that they did not hear a word about each other afterwards. Ronda - I love her, here's the buzz, a big name is ratings and money. Lynch, perhaps at this point her title-reign, had her best defense. Lashley and Lesnar were harshly hacked, Heyman's betrayal surprised. Mixed tag team match upset the result, but not the quality. The main event gives genuine emotions, I couldn't sit still when Shane collided with Kevin and Drew. And in general... Okay, try it."

Then again, once Brock lost the WWE title, him winning the rumble was a given."

[3.0] "This one started out well enough, with a very good Reigns vs. Rollins match, but was downhill from there. After all the recent releases, the women's Rumble suffered from the same issue the first women's Rumble did; a roster too small to actually fill out 30 spaces leading to an overreliance on former talent (to be fair, Ivory made the most of her appearance - at age 60! - and it was kind of wild to see Mickie come out with her Impact music and belt), and Rousey was a predictable winner. The Lesnar-Lashley bout underdelivered, and Lynch-Doudrop and "It Couple vs. Grit Couple" came off as filler. The men's Rumble was also rather pedestrian, with a notably disappointingly-unceremonious exits for Styles, after he was built up from the #1 spot, and Owens, tossed by the soon-to-disappear Shane. The winner here was also predictable as soon as Lesnar appeared. One of the lesser recent Rumble events to be sure."

[3.0] "I rate this event a 3. It wasn't the worst show WWE has put out but it's certainly among one of the most boring. I'm a lapsed fan and I stopped consuming their products. I went in this PPV as part of a yearly tradition and knowing full well that I will not watch any other stuff from WWE after that. Still, I was genuinely excited for this event: it's really hard to screw up a Royal Rumble, Mickie James' appearance (and the subsequent rumors about wrestlers from other companies) and the prospect of seeing Lesnar against Lashley really intrigued me. And even tough I won't watch it, I was also sincerely curious about what the card for Wrestlemania will look like. So I went in with an open heart and fully expecting to be entertained for at least part of the events. It didn't happen. Rollins/Reigns was a decent enough match about a storyline I stopped caring several years ago and involving two guys I never particularly liked. The wrestling was fine and well opened the event but the finish absolutely sucked. Some people are clamoring online that it's really making sense for their personal story. That's fine and all but I don't understand how people still expect a modicum of storylines from WWE. The women's rumble was a mess and it really seemed like they had trouble filling it with their own roster. I was baffled by some of the eliminations (ex.: Melina, Banks) and I'm still shocked that they are pushing Flair the way they are. All in all, I didn't cared much for the match but it was cool that a lot of those women got a nice paycheck out of it. The most exciting part of Lynch/Doudrop was the Wrestlemania sign catching on fire. Lashley/Lesnar felt like a joke. I wasn't asking much: I just wanted these two huge guys, with legit MMA background, going at it on each other for whatever time they wanted. It would have been a 5 minutes slugger fest and I would have been happy enough. They didn't do that. They went weird and pushed another storyline that's been getting progressively confusing as time went on. Don't get me wrong: I love long hanging stories in wrestling but WWE showed me one too many times they aren't to be trusted in that department. The results of this latest mach got me mad enough to not pay attention to whatever Miz&Maryse/Edge&Beth was. I was watching a 10 minutes video on facebook about a guy building his own homemade grill with an old gas canister and that was cool. He build a bunch of other stuff as well. He also build a pizza furnace out of a bath and a yoga ball so that was surprising. Anyway, the men rumble started and I felt my evening was already done. Fortunately, the match itself was really fine and it had some fun moments. Ironically, the two non-wrestlers of the show did the better wrestling of the entire match and entertained me the most. Most of my points goes for that match. And in the end, I didn't mind that Brock won the Rumble - it's not like I'm gonna watch Wrestlemania anyway."

Every other match was either bad (the 2 rumble matches, the Mix-tag, and Raw women's match) or alright (the WWE championship match). This had probably the best women's rumble I've watched, mostly due to the surprise entrants, but the ending & the entire men's rumble left me pretty disappointed. The highlight of the night was the sign catching fire and I think that says it all."

[5.0] "Disappointing PPV, despite that the card looked good on paper. Reigns vs Rollins was a great match with Seth's Shield entrance and the way he was getting under Roman's skin. Unlike others I liked the DQ finish too, and the match could have been a great feud opener, but sadly it was most probably a one timer only between the two of them. The women's rumble was absolutely boring with only a couple of good face offs and a lot of meaningless legend entrants. I hated the fact that Ronda won it. I didn't like her very much during her first run, but she looked completely out of shape now. I couldn't care less if she faces Becky or Charlotte on Wrestlemania, because both feuds are become cold in the past 3 years. Becky vs Doudrop was a decent match, but I think nobody believed that Doudrop had any chance to win the title from Becky (especially after Rousey's victory), so nobody were invested in it. Lesnar vs Lashley could have been better on its own, but it just served the Brock-Roman feud with a predictable finish. The Mixed tag match was surprisingly entertaining and served its purpose. The men's rumble was a complete boredom too, with a lot of jobbers and meaningless elminations. After what happened to him in the title match before, it was predictable that Lesnar would come last and won the whole thing. He didn't needed this win, but I am okay with that from the booking point of view. In summary, it was not a bad ppv and it had one great match on it, but the two rumbles was totally boring, which is the biggest insult for this match tpye."

[2.0] "Probably the most disappointing WWE PPVs of all time. No progress was made with this ppv. Opening match was great up until DQ finish which WWE seems to over do. Women's royal rumble was decent but fell short with a returning Rousey winning the match by eliminating Flair who had no reason to be in the match with her already being champion which shows the lack of depth of the women's roster due to recent "budget cuts". Becky vs Doudrop was a decent match as well but never felt like there was any chance for Doudrop to win it. Brock v Bobby was another good match which was overshadowed by the end with interference from Reigns and imo made Bobby look undeserving of the win. The mixed gender match was ok but felt like an after thought. Men's rumble which was probably the worst match of the night and worst rumble since 2015. There was no reason for Lesnar to win the rumble since the seeds were already planted for Reigns v Lesnar with the interference during the WWE Championship match. The win could have been used to elevate talent but was used for another part timer."

Everything about it felt rote and predictable, and there's very little that I can actually remember moving on from it. If anything, the biggest issue was the music. Nobody's got a clear theme outside of a very small handful, which kind of destroys the Rumble's presentation as there's no way of knowing exactly who's showing up."

[2.0] "This show was bad, make no mistake about it. Whilst it wasn't the worst show I've ever seen, by any means (WCW GAB 91 potentially takes that cake! ), it was an encapsulation of everything wrong with modern day WWE. Terrible finishes (the opener had potentially the dumbest finish to a match I've had the misfortune to watch), an over reliance on nostalgia 'pops', tepid and uninteresting in-ring action, awful commentary, and besides Roman, Brock and Ronda, ABSOLUTELY NO STARS! I couldn't believe the cavalcade of midcard bums who kept making their way down at the buzzer, none of whom had a hope in Hell's chance of winning these Rumbles. The guys who got the most shine in the men's match were Brock Lesnar, Shane McMahon and niche rapper and non-wrestler Bad Bunny! Which is about a shocking an indictment as you can get on the state of the current product. The women's Rumble featured some of the most horrible exchanges you'll ever see, and almost half of the field were either part timers or old faces brought in mainly to get eliminated in around a minute. However, it wasn't even in the same realm of unwatchably dull that the men's was. Becky vs. Doudrop (by far the worst name a wrestler has anywhere nowadays) was boring, felt like it went forever, and was performed in front of silence. I can't even comprehend how far Lynch's star has fallen since returning. Brock/Lashley was profoundly disappointing. It was the same old, same old, and featured a lazy, uninspired finish that we've seen literally thousands of times. The mixed tag was ok, but entirely forgettable, and then there's Roman vs. Seth. The best match on the show by a country mile, but all their effort was for naught, as the finish was just wretched. I'll refrain from writing an essay on it, but suffice to say, Seth was hardly protected in that he'd have been better off just losing as opposed to being choked to death, declared the winner by the most incompetent refereeing I think I've ever seen, then his unconscious body is hammered with a chair for 5 straight minutes afterwards. Just bad, and you know they thought it was 'super creative', whereas it was actually just typical WWE nonsense in that they over complicated it to utterly ridiculous levels. This show felt like the chickens coming home to roost for WWE, in that they've spent a decade refusing to make any new stars beyond Roman, cut the legs off anyone who had the temerity to get over, and have an entire lockeroom of midcarders. I was actually flabbergasted that Goldberg wasn't in the Rumble, because why not' WWE is in drastic need of a change, this sea of boring mediocrity just isn't good enough."

They played well their old references and matches but for sure, that DQ finish wasn't properly executed thought made sense to ended by DQ. Just not the best way to DQ that match. From there, the night went totally out of control. The Women Rumble wasn't as bad as other years but Ronda's win wasn't necessary since she got enough star power to have a good match at Mania by her own. This is also the same problem the Men Royal Rumble will have later tonight. After that dissapointment in a lot of fans, the rest of the card felt like a waste of time, just really trying to skip into the main event right away. Lynch vs Doudrop wasn't that bad but a bit anticlimatic bout on the card, Lesnar vs Lashley didn't deliver as much as the "Dream match" it was supposed to be. And Edge & Phoenix vs Miz & Maryse felt like a filler... The Men Rumble was mediocre booked. Veterans like AJ, Owens, McIntyre or even hometown star Randy Orton or new stars such as Riddle or Theory should be the winners, since they really needed the match to push for WM stardom. Lesnar vs Reigns is already an overbooked and overwrited story, but since they really want that match to be the main event, they needed to give the Rumble to Lesnar. A terrible decision for the future. With just the opener delivering good wrestling until the end, this might be one of the worst Rumble ever. Probably a 3-4/10."

[3.0] "Honestly it wasn't THAT bad, but every match was either boring, predictable, or both aside from Reigns/Rollins. The moment that Ronda and Brock entered their respective rumbles it was obvious that they would win but thats far from the only issue that the rumbles had. The women's rumble had a ton of nostalgia entrants and not much action of note. The men's rumble was bizarre, there were about 10 consecutive entrants who were total nobodies, you will always have entrants like that in the rumble but so many one after another made the match very boring. Brock winning was totally unnecessary, he already had a valid reason to get a rematch with Bobby or even to challenge Roman so it was really a waste of a rumble. It accomplished nothing and made a bunch of people look a whole lot worse."

[2.0] "I'm not mad about results from this show. I don't care if Brock or Ronda won. It's how terrible the matches are to get where it ended. The rumbles were poorly timed and poorly participated in. So much talent he been fired, how do you make this work well' The three title matches were solid but two had bad finishes that took away from them being great. Becky/Doudrop was a solid match that lost any crowd engagement because the mania sign caught fire. There's something about that Vince should take a hint from and he won't. On paper, this could have been a great show for WWE. In execution, bottom of the barrel."
