[8.0] "Another really good SmackDown episode building up to the King of the Ring with the former #1 contenders at each others throat all show, The McMahon-Helmsley Regime try to take advantage and book a main event 6-man tag match to rid themselves of the threat of Undertaker, Rock and Kane and it still ends up backfiring as they still work together to take out the bigger threat before The Rock gets his payback on the Undertaker and also hits Kane with the chair before the show goes off the air. The main event storyline has so far been really good, but it does suffer a similar problem with the last episode of Raw where there's a really long talking segment that takes awhile for anything good to happen. The mid card is a lot better than Raw though with two decent King of the Ring matches that was making the tournament feel stacked where Jericho beat Test and in an even better match Eddie beat Matt Hardy. There's a really solid Benoit v Jeff Hardy IC Title match as well with a good heel moment from Benoit after the match and while Rikishi vs Val Venis was kinda meh as a match, the post match brawl was absolutely amazing where Val looked like he had the upper hand when he busts him open with a ring bell, but Rikishi recovered and they brawled on the stage and Rikishi does a Snuka style splash off the stage. This had a lot of solid wrestling although I was a bit mixed on what they did with the women as on the one hand I think it does a good job with Stephanie getting heat by beating Lita after Tori did all the dirty work for her and that also set up a rivalry with Lita because of how unfair that all was, but the battle royal before it was awful with rules that make no sense at all."
[6.0] "Some decent progression of the Rock/Undertaker/Kane conflict, but it's over reliant on the accidental chair shot trope. We also see the start of a push for Lita and Rikishi murder Val Venis, There were no standout matches as was typical for the weekly shows at the time, but none were bad."
[7.0] "This was another good show during the KOTR build, as it featured some solid matches, mainly Eddie/Matt, Benoit/Jeff, and the main event, and also built the PPV extremely well, but the show did have a couple weak parts such as the ridiculously short handicap match and the women's match, which resulted in Stephanie "defending" her title after Tori destroyed Lita."
[8.0] "This show had a lot of things going on and I never felt bored during it. The main event story continues to be fantastic, the short mid-card matches are good although you wish they get more time"
[8.0] "They were just on fire at this point and were able to put out a fantastic product seemingly with ease. There's never a moment on this show where I felt tempted to fast forward. The star power is incredible and everyone is in their prime or close to it. Definitely check out Matt Hardy/Eddie Guerrero as it's a great match and it's a shame it's too short to recommend."
