Overall WWE Royal Rumble (2015) despite the triple threat, is a really bad show with the biggest disconnection between the company and its fans."

[1.0] "This show is a prime example why so many people turned on WWE during mid 2010's. Why is this card all meaningless tag team matches? There's three in a row here and none of them besides the Title match is much of substance. The only highlight is the incredible Triple Threat for the WWE Title but even that can't overcome the disaster that is not only one of the worst Rumbles of all time. The fans completely turning on this whole disaster completely going into "GET THE BRICKS! " mode booing anything that happens before WWE tells them that Roman Reigns is going to be their guy and they are just going to have to deal with it. All time bad stuff here. 1 point just for the WWE Title Match but that's about it."

[3.0] "What a flat PPV. The triple-threat match was actually pretty good, but other than that dear god, this is probably one of the lowest points of the Super-Roman booking. And you do this in Philly of all places! No wonder the audience almost rioted during the Rumble."
Dynamax Dawn wrote on 28.01.2024:

Just watch the triple threat and skip the rest of the card unless you want to see something truly terrible."
Akatsuki wrote on 28.01.2024:
[7.0] "Based off what is on this card starting out with the opening match, it sucked but it made sense to put The Ascension over. The Usos VS Miz & Mizdow was a decent match & probably worth a watch if you are a fan of either tag team. The Divas tag match was essentially domination by the Bella Twins, interestingly longer than usual, though it probably would've made sense to put Paige & Natalya over here. The WWE World Heavyweight Title was absolutely incredible, masterpiece, & definitely worth a watch with great performances from every individual making it an all time classic WWE Championship match & overall one of the greatest triple threat matches of all time (not better than WrestleMania 20's main event triple threat match, but still amazing). Now for the notorious main event, the worst Royal Rumble match in WWE history, no not the 1999 Royal Rumble, but the 2015 Royal Rumble, complete dog shit. Easily one of the worst pro wrestling matches I have ever seen, absolutely shitty booking. It is really crazy to think WWE literally botched the rumble winners 2014 & 2015, back to back with unacceptable booking decisions. I'm not even the biggest Daniel Bryan fan, but the fact that the man is back from injury and you have this guy eliminated in the middle of the match makes no logical sense. At least have him stay until the end of the rumble if he wasn't going to win at the very least. After his elimination, the 2nd half of the Rumble was essentially filler as nobody essentially cared. Nobody cared that a LEGEND, The Rock returns & comes to save Reigns. Wasn't that people did not like the Rock, they just didn't like Reigns & the booking of the damn match. Holy crap this was such a mess, having the same feeling when I watched it live in 2015 & now watching it again in 2024. Despite how crappy the Royal Rumble match was, at least there are some other moments in the Pay Per View which I can enjoy which is why I would give the rating a 7."

"This was an important event for beginning of the tribal chief Roman Reigns. It seemed like this was the final event when the fans really turned against Roman. On the rumble match I didn't believe that Kane or Big show would win in 2015 and they where both on the final four. It was a nice surprise to have Rusev there too. Because of this rumble Dudley Boyz had their final run in WWE which was fun to watch. Once again it wasn't the best rumble but it had it's moments. The three way with Cena, Lesnar and Rollins is really good. I would call that the match of the night."

[2.0] "This Rumble was a tale of two matches. One of them being one of the greatest matches in WWE history and one of the greatest three-way matches in wrestling history. The other? It's probably one of the top 3 worst Royal Rumble matches in history (1999 and 2022 Men's are worse in my opinion) and Roman Reigns winning the thing is one of, if not, the most controversial booking decision of the 21st century. It was so poorly received that the Philly crowd turned on THE ROCK of all people and #CancelWWENetwork was trending worldwide. Hell, there are still conversations going on to this very day about Roman's win in this Rumble. Add that in with a fairly mediocre output from the undercard that feels like its just there to fill time and nothing else and you get a Royal Rumble that's just kind of dreadful to watch altogether."

Rumble was actually pretty alright up until the last 10 entrants where old ass Big Show and Kane just lazily cleared house and Roman was given a boring win. Just not a good PPV"

The choice of having three tag-team matches in a row on the card was not the most exciting thing to do, also considering how "good" those matches were. The rumble has several good moments, but it's on the same level as the one of the previous year (which is not too good a thing)."

The 2015 Royal Rumble Match **1/2. All the Tag team matches were pretty bad and most of the show was tag team matches. Triple Threat Match was definitely match of the night. It is the kind of match that shows just how much of a failure WWE's creative is in 2015 and speaks volumes about their current direction going forward. The match was not exciting to watch and felt incredibly depressing."

[6.0] "This show gets about a 6 on the merit that although it was a pretty poor Rumble, I wasn't as down on it as some others and could have been salvageable with a little tinkering although it did stink of force-feeding, particularly with the Rock apppearance. Really this should be lower but the triple threat for the World Heavyweight Championship was absolutely superb - not quite perfect as I feel finishers were a little overdone but still a pulse-racing match."

SinCaraForever wrote on 08.02.2015:
[5.0] "The Royal Rumble 2015 match itself was very controversial (as Triple H already stated very clearly) What happened after that was stupidity at its best. Sending Daniel Bryan over the top rope early is one thing, but giving him another chance to headline WrestleMania is ridiculous! He has had his chance and somebody else deserves it. I know it was terrible that he had to get stripped of his title, but someone shouldn't get a chance to headline WrestleMania twice unless they were the Royal Rumble Match winner (which he wasn't) I understand that they need a major storyline, but I feel they can do better than that even though Daniel Bryan is very popular. The Triple Threat Match, beautiful, PERIOD"
Dane Bramage wrote on 26.01.2015:
[4.0] "The first three matches were just undercard filler. Just there to fill time, nothing memorable. The show then took a big turn-up in quality with a the triple threat title match. This saw a star performance from Seth Rollins, and although it was a bit of a finisher-fest at times, it was a very good, exciting match, with genuine moments where anyone could have won. And then the Rumble happened... It was awful. The highlights were the cameos from Bubba Ray Dudley and DDP, but nobody really had a chance to shine. It was booked so badly. Daniel Bryan was knocked out in such a basic way, if he wasn't going to win why wasn't this used to build to a match at Mania? He was massively popular, at the very least they should have given him a long run, or made his elimination mean something. Other fan favourites like Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose were treated as nobodies, and Big Show and Kane sucked the life out of the match with their dullness. I have no problem with Roman Reigns winning, but coming out on top of this match in this way did him no favours. He should been on fire, handing out spears and Superman punches left, right, and centre, not spending so much time laying around and needing his cousin to save him. It's a sad state of affairs when even an appearance from The Rock can't motivate the crowd. Even the false finish with Rusev returning to the ring was copied from Del Rio and Santino just a few years ago."

It's a shame, that company with Bryan, KENTA, Prince Devitt, Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Steen, PAC, Cesaro, El Generico, Moxley in the roster do that kind of stuff that we saw last night."

[1.0] "You know the show is bad when even an incredibly strong match with a perfect atmosphere doesn't help. Props to the great Philly crowd for letting the company know who is who right now in WWE. But the rest of the show is crap. I mean, that was fucking horrible. The Royal Rumble match is such a mess. Flogging a dead horse with boring Kofi Kingston's spots, irrelevant or spoiled comebacks. Making the same mistakes over and over again with eliminating the crowd's favorites and forcing a boring perfomer in our face. A lot of in-ring encounters were too predictable. The winner... Overall, this PPV is a complete failure. The Triple Threat match for the title is a must-see for any professional wrestling fan, feel free to throw the rest away."

That one match was excellent, but with the first hour being a completely throwaway hour and the Rumble (another hour) not coming off well in any definition of the word, the overall event just did not deliver. The road to WreestleMania is off to a rough start."

[1.0] "Awful event, absolutely terrible, the only thing here that wasn't really really bad was the WWE title match which was only really a spotfest anyway. Everyone hit their finishers a lot and it got kicked out of, and in the end brock wins because why oh why would they give it to someone else. Other than that no other match got above 2 stars or anywhere close to it, the rumble match was terrible, the worst rumble of all time. The royal rumble match sums up everything that's wrong with WWE right now and everything that's wrong with Vince McMahon's vision for this company. Even The Rock couldn't stop the crowd booing at Roman (the FACE). Bryan was only in the match for a couple of minutes before getting eliminated like he was a jobber, despite the fact that the crowd clearly love him and want him to be in the main events. Ambrose and Ziggler, two of the other crowd favourites got the most anticlimactic eliminations possible, no drama, no excitement, nothing. It ended with Roman, Show, and Kane, so we all knew what was gonna happen. Then Rusev came back in but nobody cared because everyone knew Roman was gonna win. Everyone knew from the start Roman was gonna win, but they were holding out that maybe the match might have some twists and excitement and maybe something unexpected might happen. But no, that was not the case. WWE ended the rumble with exactly the same image as last year, potentially even worse. Good job WWE, good job Vince. You don't listen to your fans, you don't learn from your past mistakes. There is a reason you're ratings are falling, and this PPV shows why."
