[10.0] "Looking at other reviews, it's clear to see who of them actively follows DPW and who doesn't. The biggest incorrect claim I've seen is that "they don't focus on their own stars anymore". The fact that Kozone and Priest are the two male singles champions right now instantly kills that claim, because those are two of many guys that DPW has helped build to become prominent figures on the US indy scene. They have the right mix of lesser known and known talent, which is a NEEDED element for an indy promotion that's trying to gain eyes. In their short history, DPW have done extremely well (maybe better that any other indy promotion in recent times) to become a notable place where top wrestlers are actively trying to get booked on their shows. Great talent, great matches, simple but effective storytelling techniques that lead to logical payoffs. DPW is one of the most successful independent promotions going today, and claims of it being "just another super indy" are silly, because they do much more than just try to book big names. They have the right focus to standout and the product they produce is excellent. By far one of my favorite promotions to watch and I highly encourage everyone to take the time to check them out."

It feels like a promotion that knows where it's going and is building something long-term. This is one of the more exciting indies to follow right now."

They've built a strong identity with great production, consistent storytelling, and a perfect mix of known indie names and fresh talent. You can tell they actually care about making stars, not just booking whoever is hot for the moment. Shows like 'No Pressure' and 'You Already Know' stand out not just for the in-ring work, but for the vibe -- it just feels different in a good way. If they keep this up, they could end up being a major player on the scene for years to come."

There is nothing outside of these 2 people would have a cool match and that's it. This is honestly disappointing to me as the guys behind it are really cool and it would be great to have an independent that could maybe become a bigger force in wrestling. I feel like everything is going backwards to how a company should be run and most of the praise is because of the podcast. The bigger they get and the more connections they make the more they feel like any other company that is easily forgettable. There's no factions anymore. There's no managers. There is no connection between why something is happening other than we should fight. That's great but it makes everything feel so boring."

They are the best Super Indie promotion in the world right now, bar none. The "boys" are really good at this, it's insane, they are the living proof that die-hard wrestling fans can also run a promotion."

They were running 2 shows that they broadcasted and had a lot of talent that were young and/or talent that people were generally unaware of that they made theirs. Now though it just feels like a "super indie", which is fine, but they started and for a couple of years felt like so much more than that. A lot of the talent they started with are barely booked and are put aside for other bigger companies' stars. The storylines and fueds are hit or miss and they lost what made them great. It doesn't feel like "Deadlock" at all anymore. They focus more on working with other bigger companies or collaborative efforts, rather than focus on their company. All the talent they started with has been dropped down the card or not even booked in favor of the bigger companies talent. A promotion needs to have stars that are almost only theirs, but it feels like that is gone. Their youtube/website also doesn't produce Fire or Spark anymore and their youtube is pretty much barely posting as much as it did. I hope they realize what made the company great when it started."

Brings me back to a time where I experienced wrestling solely through the eyes of a 240p top moves compilation of super dragon and nick berk. Good mix of hosses (tankman, bojack) strikers (VIF, blackwood) technicians (GYV, priest) and brawlers (mad dog)."

Some may say DPW isn't anything special, but I disagree. Deadlock pro is a place for extremely talented workers especially those under appreciated elsewhere. Some of their top stars have been signed to major promotions like Lucky Ali (Saquon Shugars) Jay Malachi (Jevon Evans) and Speedball Mike Bailey (yes I know he was in TNA already but AEW came calling and maybe I'll start watching them again.) Deadlock is special. Get in, or get the f*** out."

DPW knows what it is, embraces it to the fullest and goes nuts with it. DPW I was born of passion, not money and its talent first approach to things is extremely refreshing. I thought that maybe they could get to the level of the height of the prime of ROH or even a competitor to MLW or something on that level. The 3 owners that own it all have personalities and made their success on the internet, but the promotion feels so stale and sterile. There aren't cool characters like you'd expect for the 3 owners/ bookers that they have."

BUT, that truly does not influence my rating as such. If it did, I'd blindly give it a 10. But, here's the truth. It's now a super-Independent, and a f****** outstanding one. If you think it's bad, cool. But tell that to the more established companies that are now prominently poaching talent from them. Lucky Ali and Jay Malakai are now in NXT. Bryan Keith, after years of grinding on the road, is now signed to ROH, and will more than likely see his way to AEW TV frequently in the upcoming future. Shows are paced well, matches have the right winners booked, and I love that they prominently use tournaments, especially the Carolina Classic and their outstanding booking of tag teams in said tournaments. My word, the library of tag teams/tag matches that have been a part of DPW are WILD. Violence is Forever, Workhorsemen, Super Smash Bros, Motor City Machine Guns, Grizzled Young Vets... They bring over talent from Japan, and treat them with respect and the spotlight that they deserve... Just good stuff. I take points away due to the company only being a few years old and not truly established, and for just certain Indy things of today that get to me (it's a personal thing with promos... I find that a lot Indy workers who grab a mic nowadays take me out of it, as well as overuse of certain spots by talent. But, again, that's today's Indies). I could absolutely see this company exploding over the next couple of years, as they're gaining lots of traction. A great starting point if you're looking into watching some Indies, especially if you enjoy women's wrestling, tag wrestling, or stipulation matches that matter (looking at you Tankman v Corino in a steel cage 13-minute sprint where they just killed each other for the title at You Already Know 2024... That card also has the fantastic match of Lady Frost v Miyuki Takase for the DPW Women's title, and countless other bangers. Actually, just go watch that show; great stuff)."

I've been a fan of the individuals behind DPW for over a decade and was hoping to see more of their personalities shine through in the company's identity, making it distinct. Love the content the owners are originally known for, so I was keen to see how they get on with a real promotion and would you know, they actually pulled it off and happy for them and all the talent involved. THAT SAID, it's currently a fairly straight forward North American indie promotion. Ties to other companies, including Japan is a great start but for now it needs much more growth to real hit its stride. Matches are mostly good but not great, despite the clear talent they have had, but at this scale I always feel like the talent is holding back or could be held elsewhere under other banner. Case in point, I was at the joint show in April at Shinjuku FACE show and while it was a good show, it mostly felt like any other event by any other company at that venue. Nothing wrong with that, but not top marks overall. If things improve there, we've got something potential special as I'm really rooting for the Deadlock crew, but as it stands it's not quite as such so too early to celebrate but still a comfortable place for independent workers and those on excursion."

Some of the top people from the indies have wrestled here, like Violence Is Forever, Calvin Tankman, Myron Reed, Jordan Oliver, Jack Evans, and Matt Cross. There have also been some AEW/Impact/NJPW guys and foreign imports, which is a sign you're popular. The actual wrestling is... average at best. No match has blown me away, that's for sure. I've been a fan of newLegacyinc and their pals for a number of years, but I didn't really know that they were setting up an actual fed. Right away I feel very at home, as Jawnny & TonyPizzaGuy are two of the commentators, and notable alumni like Andrew Everett & Rosemary feature strongly, and even some of the choice of music for their PPVs are cheeky nods and winks. However... I can't help but feel that newcomers might not get some of these references right away "Andrew The Giant, " Jawnny hating Overdrives etc, as it really is like a parallel universe to their videogame stuff and maybe feels like too much fanservice and catering to the die hards, like how AEW makes me feel sometimes. Stuff I love about DPW is it's presentation, Wrestling style and new up & coming talent, many completely new to me, as well as some who worked previously for AEW or WWE. The stuff I don't like so much is their booking, as many of these matches & feuds happen seemingly out of the ether. Maybe these things are on their social medias? but I'm not an avid follower of those, and I definitely think they can & should dedicate more time to it on their weekly-ish shows, which are free for everyone to watch. And speaking of their weekly shows - both Fire & Spark are pretty good, easy to watch programmes, although I don't really know what point Spark really serves? and after No Pressure they've both seemingly stopped, which is a little worrying for feature storylines etc. Commentary team has definitely gotten better, all three guys are definitely used to calling Wrestling to audiences, although on a few of their earlier shows they left lots of dead air, when they could have been telling you about Wrestlers or feuds etc, but as I said already, they have gotten better at this. Their PPVs are definitely worth checking out also. As a whole though, they are a bit of a glorified indy that doesn't take itself too seriously. They have great talent, and they bring in overseas stars often, although it usually is only for just one match. DPW is a company that pulls out the stops to put on the best shows they can. Very happy for everyone involved and what they've achieved, and this is definitely a promotion to recommend for something a little different that's also fun, but I can't help but feel a little worried about their future already, as their shows have become monthly ones as of recently."

It's obviously nothing revolutionary. It feels like everyday a new indie promotion is being made. This one however stands out. From a shockingly large and diverse roster with some bigger names thrown about to a solid string of matches and shows. I just wish they did more shows than one every month. All of these are slight nitpicks though because when those shows do come out they are most definitely worth the rate. If I has to give a recommendation for any match to watch to really give you a feel of what you're getting into by watching Deadlock I would have to recommend Jay Malachi vs Calvin Tankman. A super fun and fast paced match with an incredible performance by both wrestler. All in all Deadlock is a great watch but does lose a couple points since they only release a show a month."
