[10.0] "One of the best teams in TNA and indie wrestling history, consisting of two very talented guys who work very well together but unfortunately in WWE they are basically relegated to a lower card team who rarely wins matches. I'm not sure if that should stain their legacy though, they are still putting on good matches even in loss."

[8.0] "The Motor City Machine Guns took a tired tag team scene and lit a fire under it. Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley blended innovation, speed, and tag chemistry in a way that felt ahead of its time. Whether it was TNA, ROH, or New Japan, the Guns elevated every division they touched. Their matches weren't just exciting -- they were crafted with intention. Every double-team move made sense. Every sequence felt smooth, not rehearsed. They weren't big guys or loud talkers, but they connected through their craft. Their series with Beer Money and Generation Me were instant classics, and their style laid the groundwork for modern duos like The Young Bucks and reDRagon. They made tandem offense cool again without sacrificing psychology. What also makes them special is their loyalty to each other and to the craft. They didn't chase the spotlight with overexposure. They picked their spots, delivered top-tier matches, and went back to work. You won't find many teams with better timing, smoother execution, or more chemistry than Shelley and Sabin. The Motor City Machine Guns weren't just good. They set the modern standard for what tag team wrestling could be. Innovation, chemistry, and legacy wrapped in two quiet professionals from Detroit."

They could work any style of match effortlessly and had the kind of chemistry and ability to get the crowd invested most workers only dream of. Happy to see them in the WWE now and with more eyes on them although, not at their peak in terms of in ring work."
Rassle Fan wrote on 29.03.2025:

Everything they did before that is easily a 10. I can't quite put them that high right now because WWE has rarely done right by teams and it's no different with MCMG. That said, they've had many classic matches over the years and will definitely be considered one of the best teams ever."
Odinohka wrote on 22.03.2025:

I honestly Chris Sabin, who I find more humble and pro (I find Alex a little bit boring, overexposed and bad actor despite his talent in-ring) but you definitely can not stay insensitive by watching them in a ring. They know eachother, they know the ring, they know their job."

[5.0] "Haven't seen much of their older stuff, but their work so far in the WWE has been very underwhelming, and I'm being generous here. They are probably one of the most boring tag teams in the division and I think it sucked that they were literally gifted the titles the second they walked into the organization when there were and are far better and more exciting teams who were deserving of it and had been busting their behinds for years in the WWE. Im just unimpressed with everything they've shown so far, from ringwork to their nonexistent mic skills."

TripleCrown wrote on 24.12.2024:
[10.0] "Easily the best tag team of their generation, which is no easy feat considering the talent that was around in the 2000s. These guys should've been the future of TNA and the two workers they built the promotion around. Their in-ring work as a tag team is second to none, they're just at a certain level that very few teams can ever hope to accomplish. Fantastic workers who gel really well together and actually feel like a proper tag team, not just two dudes slapped together with a name. Deserved a run in WWE and I'm really glad they finally got that."

[10.0] "One of my Favorite tag teams of all time. The Motor City Machine Guns influenced a whole generation and are what all tag teams want to be, their both great singles stars but together they are amazing their chemistry is one of the best i have ever seen between partners. They have a been a top tag team in every promotion they've been in. They have won gold and have had great matches in New Japan, TNA, ROH, and the indies. They are 2x tag team champion in TNA and 1x IWGP, ROH, GCW, DPW. They have some of the best tag matches of all time with the likes of Apollo 55, The Briscoes, Young Bucks & Beer Money. They Just signed with WWE and I'm so excited to see how that plays out."

[10.0] "One of my favorite tag teams of all time. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are excellent as singles wrestlers, but even better when teaming up. Their chemistry can only be compared to the young bucks. Possibly the greatest tag team in TNA history. Their work in Japan and the indie scene were very good. They have some of the coolest tag team moves. Good mix of technical wrestling and high flying. Their awesome"
ChikawaStyle wrote on 26.06.2024:
[10.0] "they are very little to say more about MCMG. in any year they are active they are in contention of the best tag team of the year, definitely on the TNA tag team mount rushmore, and are arguably in the conversation for greatest tag team of all time. The amount of tag team ingenuity affected an entire, if not two, generation of indie wrestlers to follow their footsteps and contributed so much to the tag team scene. The best thing about them is that, Sabin and Shelley stand along is already historic status, but they somehow can elevate that to the next level whenever they team, it's a true grace on earth that they would stay together after all these years and continue to move forward with the front of tag team wrestling."

Crowds loved the MCMG, they were good on the mic but made their careers with top tier in ring work. Legendary matches with assortment of different teams in multiple different promotions."

WrestleWire wrote on 02.07.2021:
[10.0] "It's been said on here before, but I will reiterate the point: The most influential tag team since The Attitude Era. Their in-ring style blended a lot of the great things that we saw from the likes of The Hardy Boyz, The British Bulldogs, and Edge & Christian, all the while providing a unique twist that fit both wrestlers' individual strengths. It's no coincidence that their peers swear by them and fans of that time watched as they reshaped tag team wrestling. I wish Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin had won more titles than they did because their résumés, impressive as they are, don't do them justice. The Motor City Machine Guns are an all-time great tag team."
SpikeWithGlasses wrote on 30.06.2021:

TheLegitBoss wrote on 20.10.2020:
[10.0] "We don't talk much about it but Motor City Machine Guns really put out a fantastic run since their return to Slammiversary last July. Two years after their separation, they haven't lost anything of their incredible chemistry. Since their return they count only very good matches against The North, The Rascalz and Ace Austin & Madman Fulton. A legendary team that continues to do very good things and it is worth mentioning. They're the perfect successor to the legendary reign of The North with these titles."
zephyr wrote on 19.03.2019:

Had a great catalog of tag matches in TNA against the likes of Beer Money, Team 3D and Generation Me. Hope to see them reunite at some point."

My wait ended in 2010 when I saw MCMG face off against Beer Money in the Best of 5 Series. I may have had to wait eight years, but it was worth the wait to see Sabin & Shelley in action."
Paul Allain wrote on 08.07.2013:
[10.0] "Taking TNA by storm, the Motor City Machine Guns got the best out of Shelly and Sabin as they gained fame in the United States and Japan (being the hottest freelance team on the US independent circuit) as the most exciting team of the last few years. Their fluidity and ring acumen, with an healthy dose of youthful swagger, made them the hottest team in the world, eventually achieving the goal of being TNA Tag Team champion, a title they defended throughout stellar feuds with Generation Me and Beer Money. They were amazing and should they reuniten down the line, who knows how high they might go."
