[7.0] "One of the premier women wrestlers of the late 70s and 80s. As daughter of the legendary Cora Combs, Debbie was trained by her mother, faced her and even worked with her as a tag team. She brought some very solid technical skills to the table, with fluid submission work and an airplane spin that always impressed a crowd of that era! In her time, she wrestled across the territories with some pretty memorable bouts for Wrestling At The Chase in St Louis. She also worked in AWA, USWA WWF, WCW and a slew of independent promotions at different times of her career, even working under a mask as the Lady Satan gimmick at times, just like her mother before her. Picked up a number of titles including the NWA World Women's Championship on three occasions. To me she deserved to be WWF Women's champ though not being a Moolah trainee perhaps prevented her from being booked for that. Her sound in-ring work and glamorous look could've catapulted her into greater stardom had it not been for the politics of US wrestling. Much of her WWF run was putting over the champ. A combination of Moolah's stranglehold over the booking and the diminishing importance of US women's wrestling in the 80s and 90s (save for a few exceptions) have meant that women like Combs go unknown by even hardcore wrestling fans of today. By all means, Debbie Combs' fascinating career is well worth researching at a time when American women's wrestling is currently enjoying a resurgence."
