[6.0] "One of the biggest examples of lost potential. Gino Hernandez had the look, the ability to work, and he could talk, but the guy was a paranoid wacko aggravated by cocaine. Personal issues robbed the wrestling world of a main eventer who probably would have been great in WCW, maybe not so much the WWF, Intercontinental champion material for sure! I only rate him at a 6 because his career was so short and he never survived past the territory days and went to the biggest stage in the country."
[9.0] ""I am! Your Champion! " I thought he would be the next Ric Flair, unfortunately he loved cocaine to death. Read the other comments here then go back and watch his run in World Class (Peacock/The Network has the whole 84-86 tenure) and proceed to gush like the rest of us did & continue to do so. There is a match against Johnny Mantell (June 2 1984) where he throws himself into a security guard, cmon you know you wanna see that! He had it all, gawd he was attractive but was such an arrogant prick haha! Had some great looking elbow drops. He had crowd control like few others. He kept in pretty good condition until near the end - you could tell the party life took precedence over body maintenance and next thing you knew, DEAD. I really liked his stuff; he should have scaled back on the blow and hit the gym more often but I still have only fond memories of the ring work. (bless the network for letting us relive it! ) 9.25 rounded down."
[10.0] "Skillful, talented and insanely charismatic, Hernandez was one of the biggest promises in the wrestling business, not to mention rumors that he was also a kind soul who always visited children in hospitals, even if he lived his rich man's gimmick. Many may not know it, but he was also the main event at a Madison Square Garden with the WWWF event, selling out the house against Johnny Rodz at the age of 19 (take that, Jay White). His fame grew even more with his luxury man gimmick, but along with it, his addiction to cocaine also grew, which not only ended his career, but also his own life. One of the biggest possibilities for atomic success in wrestling. Whether he would join Crockett as a member of the Four Horsemen as speculated or join the World Wrestling Federation as a top heel character. One thing was sure; Gino had enough star power to go even further than he already have walked."
[10.0] "Very fast in the ring. This guy would have been bigger if he not had died so young. His promos were excellent. He was very good in the Texas territory and was great with Chris Adams."
[7.0] "Gino Hernandez is often compared to Ric Flair, and understandably so. Between the ropes, Gino might have been a bit superior than Flair, as he was incredibly agile & quick. But as an all around character, I think Ric gets the nod. Gino had a short career due to his untimely passing, so it would have been interesting to see if he could have hung on the national stage. He was a great heel opponent for the uber-face Von Erich boys."
[8.0] "One of my favorite wrestlers to look back on. Dynamite promos, a fantastic look, living the gimmick in and out of the ring, and solid between the ropes. His run in World Class Championship Wrestling from mid 1984 to early 1986 was Hernandez at his best. I've recently enjoyed going back to some of his early heel work from 1979 to 1982 in Houston and Mid-South Wrestling. Still sorely missed, there will never be another quite like Gorgeous Gino, "the man of the hour, the man with the power. Too sweet to be sour. Two hundred and twenty pounds of twisted steel and sex appeal. ""
[7.0] "Had good wrestling ability and a cocky, infuriating way of talking on the microphone. He should have become a huge star. Unfortunately, he liked cocaine a little too much."
[8.0] "Wirklich tragisch. Der Junge war eine absolute Charismabombe und hätte das Zeug gehabt, auch außerhalb von Texas ein riesiger Star zu werden. Leider ist es anders gekommen."
[8.0] "Hätte meiner Meinung nach das Potential zum absoluten Superstar. Charismatisch bis in den Haarespitzen und gutaussehend, hatte er auch im Ring einiges drauf"
