"7/10 I really like Drake, hes a good big man. Decent promo when the time is needed, hes very Arn Anderson ish, in his style. His run in the WorkHorsmen i thought was pretty good, as well hes a good hand to have all in all."
[3.0] "JD Drake has awful timing and he clearly squandered his position in those showcase matches by being slow and bad at working. He can wrestle at the best of spots but sadly as a viewer unaware of his work until his AEW run, didnt look good. I did heard about his Evolve run, his battles with Austin Theory and Sean Maulta. He had a decent battle with Darby Allin for the TNT title. He had the best battle with Baron Black and sad to say, he is not worth booking for a midcard spot. JD vs Keith Lee on Rampage do not go out of your way to watch."
[10.0] "Drake is truly one of those old school big man wrestlers who can move with the agility of the lighter weights. He is great on the mic as well. Overall, he puts it all out there when he is in a match and doesnt disappoint. Whenever I see that he is on a card, his matches are looked forward to."
[7.0] "Big fan of Drake. He works well as an agile big man. Never seen a ton of charisma out of him but he is very good as a tag wrestler and a very good worker. Anyone he works with benefits from his ability to have good matches in the ring."
[8.0] "One of the most overlooked and underrated wrestlers out there. He can work a match, a mic, and a crowd. What a damn wrestlers wrestler is JD Drake, and he's gotten to show that in DPW luckily. Hopefully he'll get to show it all over soon but as long as he keeps killing it in singles and in The Work Horsemen then I'll keep being a fan."
[8.0] "I have to say, after watching him for many weeks now, I've been surprised at this man's performance. For his size, I would have expected him to be a flat-out power wrestler. But he really is more an all-arounder (although he doesn't really seem to go to the mat). He does a good job keeping up with the smaller wrestlers but also does some high flying too. The in-ring work is what I like to see - moves have purpose, he does his work to make the offense and defense look natural and real, the moves have visual impact and aren't floaty. Mic work, I could see him being average, which isn't a slight (50% of people are below average). He clearly has confidence talking and while I doubt he would ever be great, I think if the gimmicks he works lean into a low-key, man-of-the-earth persona, I'm betting his natural charisma is a fit for that."
[8.0] "I discovered him in 2018 and I'm really happy that he made it to WWE and AEW. Now he is the 50% of the best indie North American tag team of 2022. Everything this big man does is completely brilliant. Absolutely love him."
[8.0] "Athletic as hell yet knows he's a big guy first and foremost. Fucking love him and his work as he remains incredibly underrated. He should be a bigger name on the indie scene thats desperate for actual names."
[7.0] "A truly very good worker, with a not-so-great look. He is destined to become what Buddy Rose was in the WWF in 1990 (a very agile, technical marvel who makes others look amazing). In case AEW finds another gimmick that actually works for JD, he won't suffer this fate."
[8.0] "JD Drake is criminally over looked. He puts banger after banger on and his gimmick of the blue collar badass is great. Watch his matches against Daniel Garcia for his best in ring work"
[8.0] "One of the most underrated wrestlers of the last decade, it was probably only superficial attitudes about "look" and "physique" that kept JD Drake from becoming a more well-known name. What he may lack in natural charisma, he makes up for with excellent power wresting and brawling. Now in his late 30s, he is wrestling as good as he ever has, and he has a lot to offer any company that books him."
[9.0] "Says he's "pretty good" and proceeds to give him a 6....alrighty then. JD Drake is an incredible big man wrestler who can also perform high-flying moves. One of the few brawler wrestlers of the last few years who doesn't put me to sleep so that's saying something since it's really hard to be an interesting brawler in today's pro wrestling world. The most important part of JD Drake besides his in-ring work is his character, being Blue Collar. When he says that, it actually feels genuine, he looks the part, speaks the part, and works the part. Imagine where he would have been if a major promotion had started using him sooner, he's gonna break out soon."
[6.0] "Drake is actually pretty good; he's a very old-school wrestler. He's like the boomer wrestlers that JR keeps talking about, but with actual athleticism. I think he works quite well as a mid-card heel, and is the only member of the Wingmen that I think should be higher up the card."
[8.0] "I'm not that familiar with his work in the indies but what I've seen so far and his matches on AEW Dark have been pretty amazing. He doesn't look like your average muscle guy and seems out of shape but when he steps in the ring he can go, no doubt. He's a great brawler and puts on some stuff you didn't expect at all."
[9.0] "James Drake is tremendous wrestler. There are lot of big guy in indie wrestling that have high flying capability and Drake is one of them. He can wrestle in single match and of course tag team match. His match with Riddle is set him up to become star of the promotion. Right now, he still underrated but he can easily be one of the big name in indie soon."
