[6.0] "Steve was the best raw athlete of the armstrong clan. He had the speed going for him, he had the strength, he had the agility, and he could do the moves naturally, and that's really what stood out about him and why I feel he worked best in tag teams -- particularly with his brother Scott as the armstrong brothers and Tracy Smothers as the young pistols. I don't think he had the business mind that Scott had, the entertainment ability Brian brought, or the working ability Brad had to have any more of a run than what he had. I also felt like he was a better territorial wrestler than main stream because his heart was always in Georgia or close to Georgia similar to his old man. I don't think Steve ever had it in him to be gone from home all the time and become a huge star in the business"

[5.0] "I absolutely love his tag work with Tracy Smothers, I can not exalt their work enough and recommend any wrestling fan to watch some Wild Eyed Southern Boys/Young Pistols - you can't go wrong! . Unfortunately, outside of that I am only familiar with the instantly forgettable WWF run. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to only have "this tiny amount" of a man's career to watch when they had so much potential to be one of the great light heavyweights. 5.25"

[4.0] "Compared to his brothers, Steve didn't have the ring skill of Brad, the charisma and mic skill of Brian or the post-career staying power of Scott, but was nonetheless a decent hand especially in the tag team ranks, especially alongside Tracy Smothers or Scott Armstrong. Though he wasn't able to parlay his career into a long-running second act like Scott did after turning referee when their WCW run ended, Steve has at least continued to occasionally pop up on the independent circuit at least as late as 2015."

[8.0] "Totally underrated, a great tag worker if nothing else. His work next to Tracy Smothers in the Young Pistols is absolutely great. How does he have such a bad rating? The dude is high quality. Yet another member of the underrated Armstrong family, I am definitely a fan of this guy and he deserves a much better rating."
