[6.0] "I know people meme about being a 'good hand' but I always felt Shawn was a great example of that. Not a top-tier guy or anything but just a good guy to have on a roster."

"The Chairman is just too damn good for WWE to use him properly frankly. He's great on the mic, he can lead a faction like he does currently in NXT with The Culling, he can be a great babyface and make the crowd go for him and cheer him onto victory. He had moments of greatness in AEW, his time in the Pinnacle was great imo. WWE just doesn't have a good direction for where to put him, hopefully its not similar to his first run as Tye Dillinger in NXT and he gets a proper run on the main roster. Spears, Saints(Ricky Starks), Ethan Paige all can thrive in NXT and get major runs if the WWE use and book them proper."

[8.0] "Just a little too Indy for main roster WWE, they didn't know what to do with him and he languished a lot but NXT is perfect for him as he walks that line between indie and tv wrestler very well. He's a rock solid worker with a great understanding of character work, especially when he's got something to work with. The chairman run is my fave personally but he's got some great matches across his career and I like him a lot. Feels like he's always had more potential than the TV people can see but I'm glad he's training now and still working. I like him a lot."

[4.0] "Didn't care for this guy when he was under the "Tye Dillinger" name where he did the "10" gimmick, thought it was a bad gimmick that felt like a weird knockoff of Bryan Danielson's "Yes" gimmick from WWE. Then he debuts for AEW, I develop hopes that he might be something worth watching as "The Chairman, " but then he does nothing interesting. Then he returns to WWE's NXT brand and still hasn't done anything that stands out to me, still boring and lacking the "It" factor. Sorry Shawn, I can't give you a 10."

[5.0] "A pretty underwhelming wrestler. It's pretty difficult to think of a way that he stands out among other performers. What comes to mind is the number 10, but that would eventually go stale. Not outstanding in WWE or in AEW."

[8.0] "I have long been a fan of Spears, ever since I first started watching NXT in 2014. This was a guy who was very secure in who he was, and very good at what he does. In my mind, he is the next generation's Lance Storm (what is in the water in Ontario, Canada? ! ). A solid hand with a long career in the biggest wrestling companies of their era, whose passion for the business gets to be shared with anyone smart enough to sit under their learning tree. With Flatbacks, I see him and Breeze producing the next generation of top tier pro wrestlers."

[8.0] "I think Shawn Spears is underrated in the ring as he normally puts on good matches. He also has shown he can get a character over but his booking resulting in that not mattering. Good on the mic. While he is not the main event level guy in a major company, he is someone you can depend on your roster"

[5.0] "He went from low-mid card act in AEW to disappearing there back to WWE where he's an even lower mid card act in NXT and not quite disappearing but not doing anything important on screen. However, he has kids and now has a good paying job as a trainer there so hopefully he's happy."

[7.0] "Definiton of solid worker, but nothing really above. His craft and knowledge will be very helpful for next generations of wrestlers, but his runs in WWE and AEW were just mid, with only some bright highlights. I genuinely don't know where his charakter from NXT is coming to, but good for him that he is probably happy here."

[5.0] "Spears' first feud in AEW was with Cody Rhodes over Cody describing him as just "a good hand", and honestly that's the best description of Spears you can give. He's reliable but painfully mediocre. Decent in the ring, adequate on the mic, bland persona. His "Perfect 10" gimmick got over with me when he entered at number 10 in the Royal Rumble one year (honestly one of the funnier moments in the Rumble's history) but other than that nothing has ever stood out about him, and that gimmick took him precisely nowhere. Spears had his chance on the main roster with WWE, and with AEW, and he couldn't ever achieve anything significant. He's just a dude who wrestles competently and that's about it, really."

[5.0] "Genuinely might be the most average wrestler there's ever been. Fine at everything, excels at nothing. Competent, but nothing great. Matches are fine, but I can't say there's ever been one that I've loved.. consistently straddled with horrid gimmicks (Perfect 10, The Chairman) and bad booking throughout his career. I'm sure he's a nice guy."

[6.0] "Competent worker and I loved the perfect 10 gimmick but that was just too brief of a time sadly. As Shawn Spears he wasn't particularly exciting in my opinion."

[7.0] "His character work and his promos are usually pretty cool and badass, and his in-ring ability is usually good, sadly he's surrounded by so much other talanted wrestlers in AEW that he just can't stand out above all of them, but he's certainly great whenever he have the oportunity to do his stuff."

[5.0] "An average wrestler, who can be useful in some context but is not impressive in almost any aspect..."

[4.0] "He's been in wrestling for such a long time, and as respected among his peers as he is, his only interesting gimmick was his chairman gimmick in AEW, where was past his prime in the ring anyway."

[1.0] "This guy... I can't. 20 years in career ended to be so bland ? His in-ring style is below average for a guy this experienced and his mic is boring. His gimmick ''the chairman'' was a good second-hand heel for the time he was feuding with Cody and his ''Perfect 10'' gimmick was just f'n annoying. Average physique, bad gimmick, the only time his character shines was versus Cody and he dropped the ball hard, having a high-profile yet pretty boring match. This guy, 20 years later... still a jobber, no wonder why."

[4.0] "A decent worker, a decent look, a decent promo. Someone useful to have around in the lower card but it would take something drastic to elevate him above that level and have fans care enough to want to see him every week."

[4.0] "One of the most boring wrestlers on AEW roster, he got potential early in his WWE run but he proved he just isnt that good"

[7.0] "Shawn Spears is the platonic ideal of the "average" wrestler. He's perfectly acceptable. If you're better than Shawn Spears, you're above average. If you're worse, you're below average. He's perfectly average at all facets of wrestling. On a weaker roster, he'd stand out, but that's not his fate. The thing is that you can book Spears up and down the card and he's credible. It looks like he's been squeezed out of AEW, which is a shame, as I think he's a good performer who had more to give."

[8.0] "Another guy who is a victim of bad booking in his career. Talent alone, he's great. He's always been a great talent. Plus, he's married to Peyton Royce. So, for that he's a 10."

[5.0] "Never been for me but I enjoyed his work in the Wardlow storyline and he seems like a really lovely guy."

[6.0] "Just a perfect middle. Shawn Spears has never been an outstanding athlete being on development centers, main roster, indie scene and now in All Elite Wrestling. But he's good enough in his role. He is not completely bad in the ring, he is able to show the opponent in a good light and he, I think, can show emotions during the match well. Spears perfectly plays the role of heel mid-carder and at the same time he managed to enjoy huge support from fans when he was babyface with strange gimmick in WWE. 6 points."

[6.0] "Spears has had a long career. Really starting out in OVW he showed promise, but like most OVW wrestlers from the mid 00s, they didn't really pan out. Spears came back to NXT in the mid 2010s, where he got over in the NXT crowd as Tye Dillinger, which never would have much success on the main roster. Spears' worth is being the perfect fall guy for any heel stable. He's got some natural charisma and he's dependable in any role. Good low card act to bring in to eat losses to build up other guys. Seems to be a pretty good trainer too."

[7.0] "Shawn Spears is having the best run of his career as The Chairman (or Chair pervert? ). He's not winning that much but he's showing solid in-ring work and great charisma. I was lukewarm on him being in the Pinnacle but he is knocking it out of the park."

[5.0] "Never had a great character or a whole lot of charisma. Yes, he's solid in the ring but also nothing outstanding. The definition of decent."

[5.0] "Good hand, great trainer who will prob train some future workrate stars with the former Tyler Breeze, nothing more than that besides his chair"

[7.0] "I have liked every single match this guy has had and every single promo I've ever seen him cut. I feel like he's legitimately a very talented guy who has been mistakenly labelled boring or generic by fans due to the fact that he never really got a chance to stand out in AEW. His initial feud was just a Cody vanity project & then the first year and a half or so of his tenure there was spent wrestling once on TV then disappearing for months at a time on repeat. Now he's being used as a lackey/background character for MJF and shining every brief time he gets to do something. I seriously think this score could have been higher had they given him a real chance. I don't blame people for thinking less of him based on the product they put out, I've just paid close attention to him for whatever reason over the years and consider myself a fan without any doubts or reservations."

[5.0] "I like Shawn Spears, I really do, but I legitimately have never seen a match of his even remotely above average. He's just kinda...average. Average look, average character, average mic skills, average, well you get the point. He can occasionally be a pleasant surprise in a match, but that's honestly pretty rare, he's better off sticking to being a comedy heel."

[6.0] "Spears is nothing more than a good hand. A guy you put on TV to put other guys over. He's a decent wrestler but he's an incredibly boring heel, and only ever got over because of his perfect 10 gimmick in WWE. Not related to the rating but I find it funny that Spears asked to leave WWE so he could get a proper opportunity elsewhere and he's basically in the same position he was in back in WWE. Just goes to show that not everyone has the credentials to be a top star."

[6.0] "Spears is good at what he does which is being a decent hand as a mid card goon. He can have decent TV matches and that's all he needs to do."

[4.0] "I still remember when Cody called him a "good hand" when he signed with AEW and that was the impetus for his heel turn. Cody wasn't wrong. It's a backhanded compliment but it's the truth."

[4.0] "He's gone through a lot of different gimmicks and turns and now in The Pinnacle he's still just the same. There's not much spark to him but he's a solid enough prelim guy."

[4.0] "Spears was supposed to be the "big thing" coming to AEW: marks everywhere proclaimed that the real workrate of the former Dillinger was going to be showcased and that he was gonna be a major success there. 2 years later, and he's done basically nothing but get beat up by Cody and the Inner Circle, and is by far the weakest member of The Pinnacle. Goofy in the ring, weak on the mic. Not even the great Tully Blanchard can get this guy over, which is saying a lot. Fine if you want a extra number in for tags but for a guy who's been in the business for nearly 20 years and has spent a good bit on developmental, he's really not anything that's must see workrate or charisma wise."

[4.0] "I'm sorry, but I find it incredibly difficult to care much about Shawn Spears. He's not bad in the ring, he's fine. But other than that, he's just another hand over at AEW. Nothing more."

[4.0] "Maybe the most average wrestler I've ever seen, which isn't a good thing in an era with so many great wrestlers."

[7.0] "He's solid. That's it. He's a solid worker, we'll have to see if he's CONSISTENT too, but yeah decent mid-card guy."

[5.0] "I'd define Shawn Spears as being a 5. He is half way between adequate and satisfactory. Yes in WWE be more over than his push and in AEW was initially less over than his push until he went back to jobbing. Another example of a lower midcarder to upper prelim guy in WWE who when he leaves everyone goes "Yay he's finally left evil WWE and bad Vince McMahon who has no eye for talent" and then once he is left to his own devices the fans go "now I get it". He's not a bad wrestler - he's just not good."

[7.0] "Shawn Spears is by no means a bad wrestler. He's aggressive, and his matches feel like he's legit trying to beat the crap out of someone. That. Ring said, his style doesn't stand out in AEW and the WWE because it isn't "dynamic enough" for the modern audience. He always has solid matches, but solid seems to be the ceiling. He's the prototypical OVW wrestler"

[4.0] "I wasn't that big of a fan of Tye Dillinger so when he joined AEW I was curious to see how he would turn out. Unfortunately I wish he was Tye Dillinger again because at least Tye had a personality. Shawn Spears is just devoid of any charisma and I always end up playing on my phone when he's on tv."

[4.0] "Has a decent look but not much else going for him. poor on the mic, a basic moveset and forgetable. One of the only few mistakes by AEW so far."

[7.0] "Shawn Spears is a guy I wish AEW would do more with. His ringwork isn't spectacular but it's solid and while his character ?  an ornery, low-key arrogant heel ?  is basic, he plays it well. He's the sort of wrestler who you know will never be a main eventer, but if he's booked properly he can he a midcard asset."

[3.0] "Poor worker and terrible character, what the hell is the chair man, how the hell is your gimmick that you have a chair"

[7.0] "He is playing the role of midcard heel perfectly and he has a great sense of connecting with the audience. He can play the psychopath, but he is better as a semi-comedic foil, the latter of which he gets to play more and more in AEW during his storyline with Tully Blanchard, trying to find the " perfect tag team partner" . While he will never be " the guy" , he is perfectly capable of working any match on the show against any opponent, which is a great asset to have as a company."

[6.0] "People have been saying this guy is actually great so I guess it's time for him to show off his talent in AEW because so far I can't say his good reputation seems entirely fair."

[6.0] "With Spears now no longer Tye & having a huge opportunity in AEW, it's make or break time to see how much star potential he really has. Next to just like Janela or Darby, Spears looks like an absolute adonis. He's got the size that many AEW guys are lacking & he's in terrific shape. I know the IWC often looks past those qualities, but I think they do mean something. He was a dud for a long time in NXT until he finally found that Perfect 10 gimmick. But that could only carry him so far. So I think it's fair to say that Spears is still largely an unknown. I'm not sure he'll ever be looked at as a true main eventer, but I think he could have some intriguing programs as part of the AEW family."

[9.0] "Always love him on the ring. He just has the charisma or charm to make the show more entertaining. He could've done better nonetheless."

[5.0] "He is doing absolutely nothing. He has a good character and some charisma but otherwise he is utterly useless. He is ok in the ring and had no reason to be in NXT during such a stacked NXT roster."

[9.0] "This is no secret to many; Tye Dillinger has a great gimmick that can get over with the fans. Dillinger can deliver in the ring, and can show great charisma and intensity, with his excellent feuds with Bobby Roode and SAnitY in NXT backing it up. It is a shame that he isn't being used on Smackdown that much, and when he is, he usually loses. Although, teaming up with Daniel Bryan multiple times at live events, recently, might just mean that he still has some hope left. Of course, despite being dubbed as the Perfect 10, he is not perfect. But, he is an excellent wrestler with an excellent gimmick who can tell an excellent story."

[5.0] "I found this guy very average at any aspects. Sure, his 10 10 10 chants are quite exciting. But that's it. Anything else about him is not much special. His main roster run so far has been eh, sure not 100% his fault. He is at best a mid carder. Nothing more."
