[8.0] "Possibly the most recognizable referee in the world, for no other reason he's been around so long: he was already there when I started watching NJPW in the early 80's. He has filled his role to perfection, avoiding the excesses of the "legally blind" referees such as those employed by CMLL and the theatrics of a Unno: in short he's completely believable as a referee. He's also been for years the go-to man for Japanese promotions in North America for many many years, scouting prospective talent and working out agreements with local promotions. These days he looks older than Methuselah and only works the very occasional match, so I hope he's enjoying a comfortable retirement because he deserves it."
