[10.0] "Speedball simply put, absolutely rules. They are one of the nicest people in the wrestling industry, and one of the most consistent workers in the world on top of that. Since joining AEW, they have put on bangers in singles with the likes of Okada & Moxley, held their own against Kenny Omega & Ricochet in a three way, and united with Kevin Knight to form one of the top babyface teams in the company (which ended before it;s time). Speedball is going to be a steady member of AEW for years to come, and wrestling is better for having them involved. Whenever Speedball is on a card, you know that match will be a standout - as that's just how they operate. Add in that they are a nonbinary person involved in the upper card of AEW, and you can't look for better representation of a community than them."

His physical abilities are unparalleled in many areas & he seems capable of bringing a good wrestling match out of almost anybody or any style. He's gotten much better at selling in the recent year & it's helped his cause out to a wonderful effect. They've seemed tentative to throw a belt on him as of lately, but I'd love to see him gain a short reign because he clearly has the capability to create a fun reign, & the experience of the intense rivalries associated with a reign would require him to up his promo game. It's always a fun time to watch him."

[10.0] "Speedball is the best of wrestling today. His high flying moves are done as well as anyone in lucha, he has a martial arts/RVD hitting style thats exciting as fuck, and he's got this karate kid underdog look that makes you want to root for him everytime. I've been watching him for years and a little disappointed with his booking lately (alot of losses) but I think that speaks to the fact the man WORKS. Goes to Mexico and balls out, does an indy match and you wouldn't tell its for a smaller show. He also has a video blog which shows the inner workings of the business, the grueling travel, some cool production stuff. Some talent want to show up and collect the paycheck, Speedball gives 100% effort in every single match, and also has behind-the-scenes stuff to enjoy. If you don't fuck with Speedball, you don't like modern wrestling."

Hordak wrote on 13.08.2026:
"He's not the worst in-ring is the best thing I can say about him. Competent at the flippy stuff. Look is bad. Needs to start wearing boots. Promos are a snooze fest. If he was a good technical wrestler, I could overlook all that. He can do flips okay, but so can a lot of people. His moves don't appear real or inspire awe. Matches look like someone let the owner's goofy kid jump around the ring."
MoonRover64 wrote on 11.08.2026:

He doesn't have that method of speaking that makes folks hinge on every single word that, say, MJF or Adam Page says but I feel that mic skills are secondary to what you can do in the ring and Bailey's got it down pat. That's goat right there (just hope he gets a win off the DCF though)."

IllyaAvdey wrote on 04.04.2026:

"The definition of a gymnist and not a wrestler. Nothing about him is believeable and the only people that are going to enjoy him are the one's that enjoy wrestlers flipping in the ring all the time. There's just nothing to like here, unless of course, you like flippy flips. Tony has a tendency to push wrestlers like this and honestly it hurts AEW getting mainstream exposure, I am embarrassed every time he comes on the TV"

I understand he's legit outside of pro wrestling, but on TV with guys who look like stars he looks out if place. Not a good promo and no real character to speak of. He's pretty much getting a 6 because he can go in the ring, but I don't think he'll improve much at this stage of his career."

He is the perfect babyface, superlikeable dude with awesome aerial moves and the best kicks in the entire professional wrestling world. Of course he doesn't have the ideal body for wrestling but I think that is part of the appeal."
[9.0] "Blink and you'll miss out on his matches. One of the most fun wrestlers to watch on the planet and will put on a fantastic match every single time. He should be getting a singles push sooner rather than later."
Redisonsashuisosi wrote on 21.02.2026:
[0.0] "I just don't like him. He's just spinning moonsaults and all kinds of moves that have nothing behind them. He doesn't have an interesting character, and he lacks charisma. He's just completely zero in terms of presenting himself. Who is he? What is he doing? Why is he wrestling and for what purpose? I keep asking myself these questions when I see him in the ring. Because mostly, he's just showing off his moonsault skills, which destroys the logic of the match. For example, when he did a moonsault back from a ladder and missed, instead of easily grabbing the titles. That's a facepalm."
ReiEscobar wrote on 31.01.2026:
[8.0] "Don't had a single doubt about that rating. He can be NOT your type of wrestler but it is barely impossible for me to rate this wrestler with something LESS. He is not the guy you will ever expect to be wrestling for a world title in his life, and also, he is not that great when you ask for selling. He might be one of the worst on the industry, actually. However, his monkeyflip kickboxing style added with some real muay thai is fucking lovely, made him one of the most unique wrestlers around the world. The best way to know more about him, in my head, would be check some matches for free on YouTube, like the one against ZSJ, Ospreay, Alexander and Takeshita. NJPW, TNA, currently AEW and mostly indies, a hell of a talented wrestler. The non binary community should be proud of him."

[8.0] "I'm non-binary so I may be a little biased here but I love Mike Bailey. They've got some weaknesses; not a great promo, could put in more effort to sell consistently, and so on. They're absolutely electric in the ring though, able to go at a very high pace for a surprisingly long time in a way that really impresses me. Their martial arts background really shows whenever they throw out those awesome kicks, maybe my favorite in wrestling at the moment. The Ultima Weapon is a very cool finisher but I think they need to find something that can be set up more quickly. The JetSpeed tag team with Kevin Knight is a great role for them right now that mitigates some of their flaws like needing to sell in a singles context, and I hope they can have a nice reign with the AEW tag belts soon."

One of the best up-and-comers in AEW right now."

Whether it's a singles match with someone like Mox or Dralistico or in his tag matches with Knight, Speedball simply doesn't miss. Not to mention he was the real king of the Indies up until he got singed by AEW."
Sickwit wrote on 27.09.2025:
[10.0] "Easily one of the best in the world right now. When I first discovered Speedy while I was blown away by his wrestling ability and general athleticism something about his gimmick felt "cheesy" to me, it felt like "the tae kwon do guy" with his martial arts get up felt a bit dated, but after watching him more and following his career and interviews and things outside of wrestling it all kind of clicked for me. There is an inherent goofiness to him, but it's not a negative trait at all, but rather it's kind of what ties the whole thing together. He's not your badass macho Steve Blackman type of guy, he's an incredibly unique, somewhat silly, somewhat nerdy guy and he wears that on his sleeve. Because he doesn't need to come off as the quintessential macho badass, because he is a badass and he could beat the hell out of the vast majority of people who step into a ring with him. Which in a way is almost a more genuine martial arts gimmick. You see both in the movies and in real life how that sort of forward facing "I wanna beat people up" tough guy shtick is frowned upon by genuine martial artists, because that's not what it's for. And speedball is able to tie all of these things together in a way nobody has before, all while presenting a completely unique human to the audience, In a way the only wrestler I can think to compare him to is Kenny omega, aside from them being final fantasy fans and having finishers named after the game, both are unapologetically themselves in a way you never really see in pro wrestling. They don't hide the things that would traditionally seem antithetical to a wrestling character, they embrace them and use them to their advantage making them stand out from everyone else in a way that's both different as well as incredibly refreshing. The actual wrestling speaks for itself, I've yet to see a bad match involving Speedball Mike Bailey. And in an era where "amazing wrestlers" are a dime a dozen, him being who he is is really what makes him successful."

He's an excellent talent, who's only aspect that's below awesome is his mic skills, but even then they aren't terrible; just ok. And while his character is a bit restricted, he plays it well and you could always just repackage him. They are a world class talent in every other regard in my opinion."

His persona comes across as overly exaggerated, and although he may genuinely hold a black belt, the execution of his kung-fu gimmick can at times appear performative rather than convincing."

The only thing he needs to focus on is his promo skills - he's not necessarily bad, but I think it was the one thing stopping him from being a world champion."
DrRockD wrote on 21.06.2025:
[8.0] "He's a little to much of a generic babyface character-wise for my liking, but he's incredibly solid in the ring and mixes his martial arts style pretty solidly with other high flying and technical moves which makes him a truly unique style. His stamina is also incredibly underrated, he can ball out on longer matches for days as well. I don't always enjoy his matches as he needs his opponent to work certain style to truly click, but when his matches do work, they're some of the best out there."
JTI wrote on 17.06.2025:

In terms of an in-ring competitor I don't know what more you can really ask for. Put Bailey in the ring with pretty much anyone and you can expect something enjoyable. All that being said, his promos... eh... They're a lot better than they used to be but it's still his major weakness and something he struggles with, despite the apparent confidence he always displays. Because of that, and despite how much I personally love him, I'm going to round my 9.5 down to a 9."

I thought he was just a completely generic high-flyer with nothing remarkable about him. I felt the same way about swerve for a long time. Fast-forward to 2025 and this GUY puts on an absolutely classic performance with Kenny and Ricochet, and he ends up being the stand out of the three men, which shows how much he has grown as a wrestler. I also found his YouTube channel and how humble he is, always answering everyone's comments. This guy fucking rocks no 2 ways about it. This might just be my opinion, but holy shit it's a strong opinion."

As a black belt in Taekwondo myself, Speedball is so amazing to watch. I always thought that if I were a wrestler, I would want to have a similar style to what Mike Bailey does. There are very few strikers in wrestling (outside of Japan I should say) that are as convincing as speedball. I won't forgive AEW for not paying royalties to the Beastie Boys and letting Speedball use Brass Monkey as his theme, but I'll let it slide. Speedball is the man, and I can't wait to see him thrive in AEW. If the company doesn't mishandle him, he could really improve their overall product. Also, if you haven't seen his work in C4 Pro or Deadlock Pro, I highly recommend."
