The charisma from them both, a great dude when it comes to facial expression, SPECIALLY when he is performing an heel character. Quite great in ring and I think he would do great in ring single, but we never saw that so eh, whatever."
Khalid Ace wrote on 30.01.2026:

If Nick is the performer of the duo, Matt is the actor and character work side of the coin, and he does that so well."

[10.0] "Young Bucks matches are 100% my comfort matches. Are a lot of them similar? Sure. But I've never understood why that's a bad thing. They're SO reliable. If you just put these two guys in the ring with anyone, they'll give them an awesome match."
StardomJMD wrote on 05.09.2025:
[10.0] "One half of the greatest tag team of all time. While Matt is a bit less flashy than Nick, he's the one that is more story-driven of the two. Usually, when something big happens with the Bucks, Matt is somewhat the catalyst of it, like the build up towards the Golden Lovers match or the nod to Hangman before he hits Kenny with it to win the title. Like someone said below, he's the glue that holds the story all together."
goops wrote on 13.06.2025:
[10.0] "The Bucks never get the FULL credit they deserve. No wrestlers with a catalogue like these guys get below a 9 on here. Matt Jackson is a bit less of a big spot guy like Nick but Matt is usually the one carrying the theatrics and storytelling. In their best story matches like against Golden Lovers or Omega & Hangman, he's the glue that holds the story all together. He's also sold a through line of his lower back a lot of his career, which is nice. All in all, I believe the Bucks to be the best tag team of all time."

[5.0] "A talented athlete, but one who refuses to learn psychology in the ring and who constantly makes fun of the industry by making inside jokes on cable television... a wrestler I wouldn't have booked with my company. Still, 2018 was the year I enjoyed his matches the most, especially against the Golden Lovers."

[4.0] "I was a huge Young Bucks' fan when I was a teenager, and watched most of their matches back on the day. Matt was always my favorite of the two. But since they left ROH and AEW started, they lost much of their appeal and now they are insufferable guys on a TV show. Before they signed Punk, the Bucks were already so-and-so, specially Matt with his nonsense no-sells in basically every match. The Brawl Out situation really hurted their image too, not only as EVPs, but as wrestlers. However, The Bucks were huge in the mid 2010s, and they have their share on this wrestling renaissence."
AceHagann wrote on 28.11.2024:
[4.0] "It might be controversial to say, but the Young Bucks feel extremely overrated. You might see one of their matches and think that they are gifted performers with lots of talent. And when looked under a certain light, they are. Your average wrestler surely wouldn't be able to pull several of their stunts like they do with ease. The catch is that they only know one match. The more you see them in action the more you'll see they play the same tune over, and over, and over again. And that's the extent of their in-ring talent. As for their character work and mic skills, both are terrible. They are pretty generic, and their talk only makes me roll my eyes, wishing the show moves on from them as soon as possible."
Saladbagel wrote on 30.10.2024:
[5.0] "The Young Bucks have been very successful in terms of making money for themselves, but their matches have never impressed me. Their lack of selling and psychology (regardless of what Meltzer tries to gaslight you into believing) has made many of their matches feel too similar to one another. If you like their style of wrestling, you will never get bored. However, if you dislike it, then they're never going to have a match worth remembering to you. They also can't cut a memorable promo, but at least they're a tag team since neither of them would stand out as a singles star."

People will unfairly denigrate the guy because they don't like his style or think that its inappropriate how much comedy wrestling he's done while still performing at a high level. But the dude can go, albeit has slowed down in the last year or two."
JBruce1018 wrote on 13.07.2024:

TheDeity wrote on 13.12.2023:
[6.0] "The Young Bucks are easily one of the most overrated teams today. They're by no means bad, but they're not as great as some fans make them out to be. Perfectly serviceable as a midcard tag team, yet it is worth noting that their business acument is quite excellent for getting to where they are today. Their matches are reminiscent of the usuail indie spotfest mess that isn't entertaining for everybody. Ergo, their matches are easily choreographed and it's not uncommon to see one guy waiting for his spot with lackluster (or non-existent) selling involved."
NickJammer2221 wrote on 09.07.2023:
[4.0] "I can take them in multi man tag matches as we see them less and they can have some exciting moments in their matches. However, they have 0 psychology, tend to rely on obviously planned and rehearsed spots and have never improved in their time in the ring. In 2023 I don't think they have meant less since they were in TNA."
crs285 wrote on 03.07.2023:

[4.0] "Not a great wrestler at all. The tag team is certainly better than the sum of his parts. His only personality trait is arrogance which comes across well when he's in the smarmy heel role but it seems he always wants to be a babyface. Passable on the mic but has none of that "oh wow he looks like a wrestler" aura that top guys have."

"As a big fan of tag team wrestling, I believe that he and his brother have a lot of talent and are fun to watch. I still remember when he was in Impact as 1 half of Generation Me, which was a good fit for the insanity of tag teaming that Impact had. Now, he gives off a great show every time he appears on AEW. He and his brother even gave Private Party a boost by giving them the win in AEW's first week. No matter what, he'll always be remembered as a true star"

I know they have awesome matches and treat their fans well since like a decade ago and they've been getting rich on merch and now aew for like 5 years. Masively successful and I'm rating that here. Good promos but sometimes goofy. Great tag matches. Maybe sometimes spot setup heavy but they are good. And cooperative."

Obviously the Bucks will always be linked together, but if they were to one day break up for whatever reason, Matt Jackson could have a great solo career as well."

PhenomenalGun wrote on 22.12.2021:
[9.0] "Matt Jackson is one of the best high flyers today with a solid technical repertoire he can employ during transitional moments of his tag team matches. While his brother Nick excels in athleticism and high flying spectacles, Matt is a solid talker, has heaps of charisma, and has a better look. Out of the two, Matt also has an exponentially higher chance of making it as a singles performer, but the pair have made it abundantly clear that will not occur anytime in the near future which is reasonable, their team is fantastic in all facets."

They also have some great looks and act well as both faces and heels (even if they can be somewhat obnoxious). Neither of them are particularly good on mic from what I have ever seen, but they don't need it. No doubt, they will become (or are) an important part of Pro-Wrestling history."
KyleEnjoysWrestling wrote on 05.08.2019:
[3.0] "Hard to talk about as a solo, as pretty much everything he's done has been as a part of the Bucks. He gets a slight nod for being more comfortable on the mic compared to Nick. As a team, I can't stand 90% of their matches. Pinball video game matches. Doing their part to kill the superkick. Nothing matters except for high spots. Tag rules are thrown out the door in favor of non sensical double team maneuvers. If you've seen one Young Bucks match, you've seen them all. I see potential in them and I was hoping they might change things up with the launch of AEW, but thus far their matches with the Lucha Bros has just been more of the same."

He has also a great charisma and maybe the best facial expression on the business."

But as a team, it's easy to see why they've become so popular. Spot wrestlers? Perhaps, but no one does that style better."
