[5.0] "Mad Man Pondo was always a dude who had a lot of charisma, and could take a beating. The dude is liked wherever he goes and has been a fan favourite in multiple different promotions and across countries even. He was never that great of a wrestler though. Even watching his matches from the early 90's is a hard watch, and his ability certainly hasnt gotten better with age. He should really retire now as its hard watching him stumble around the ring nowdays. He would be a great on screen presence though, or he could pick up the promotor roll again at IWA-EC, as what he did there as a promoter/booker was always really good and a ton of people miss IWA-EC. Wherever he goes he puts smiles on peoples faces and he's genuinly a great dude."

I know he was more in his "prime" back in the 90s but speaking strictly as a resident of Japan who goes to a lot of BJW shows, Pondo has a shocking amount of fun charisma and likability and knows exactly how to play to the crowd. The Japanese audience loves this guy (no joke, I even saw a 5 year old girl with his merch, oh Japan...). Now character aside... yeah, he's a 50+ deathmatch veteran, how good of an in ring worker is ge going to be? But he can still take punishment, even a tad safer than his modern contemporaries. Far from being for everyone but he's clearly still for somebody at least."

I just watched TOD 21 and safe to say his best days of death matches are over. He looked like a 80 year old grandpa that was on the verge of dying by the semi finals. He had his time in IWA MS and IWA EC but it's time to hangup the weapons and boots"

Worked with pretty much everybody in the scene and properly understood more fundamental psychology things than he'll ever get credit for - he's always played to the crowd particularly well as a tough babyfave."

[4.0] "A death match wrestler who builds his stories around one-ups-manship and creative spectacle rather than psychology. This guys' bloody brawls have been an indy hardcore mainstay for decades. Take him out of this specific element, though, and I am not sure that he can thrive. If you haven't seen any death matches, add a Pondo match to your watchlist. Just be ready to cringe. It is not for everybody. Not for many everybody's at all. Not my cup of tea, but I need to respect the ware and tear."

[10.0] "Mad Man Pondo is probably in my top 10 guiltiest pleasures in wrestling. Far from a good technician, Pondo is an extremely smart man who does some incredibly stupid shit, and has made a career out of it. One of the icons of US death match wrestling, he's been all around the world doing this insane stuff. I'll always love Pondo, for he cannot be stopped."
