He's not an incredible worker by any means, but he's got some good moves, can cut a very solid promo, has a great look, the guitar is a fun gimmick, & generally speaking I'm always happy when he's on my TV. A 6-level wrestler is elevated to a 7 for his involvement with TNA, which without Jarrett would look very different these days, & he's generally been a good addition to AEW, although some disagree for reasons that I don't quite understand. Oh, & also his theme song is just the best. That guitar line, man!"

Besides Hangman, Angle and Bryan, none of this matches are attractive to me and he is not the type of wrestler I love to see talking. Just overall boring for me. AEW literally had to cancel the plans they had for a retirement run for him because the beggining wasn't being attractive to no one."

[1.0] "Jeff Jarrett is the definition of solid but uninspiring. Technically sound and always dependable in the ring, but rarely exciting. His gimmicks often felt forced and his charisma came off as more smug than compelling. Whether swinging a guitar or strutting around in Double J mode, it always felt like he was trying too hard to be a top guy without ever really feeling like one. He had flashes of strong work, especially in tag settings or against top-tier opponents, but as a singles act he lacked the presence and edge to truly connect. A midcard staple who never quite broke through unless he and his dad owned the company. A much better fit for the "nepo baby" schtick some fans are forcing on Charlotte or the "reign of terror" given to HHH would be much better served describing Double J booking himself as the top guy in TNA for its early years"

But god, Jarrett just never lets it go. The guy can barely tell a story. I mean, seriously, when Chyna and Darby Allin have to carry you, when Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy CAN'T sufficiently carry you all that high, it's really bad. His moveset is so freaking small and he knows it, too. He seems to purposefully suck in the ring, thinking that that gets him "heat, " but it doesn't get him boos, it gets channels changed and YouTube videos clicked off of. I'm honestly not even sure how good he IS because he never tries to put on a seriously good match. I remember when Miss Kitty started valeting Debra, and how they were BOTH more over than him. When your valet's valet is more exciting then you, you need to make a change, but he hasn't in like 30 years. Sorry not sorry."

Truly versatile. People like to shit on his TNA run for his reign(s) of terror but you're forgetting that he's the 3 time KOTM and created unforgettable segments like the Jeff Jarrett Dojo. Hopefully he'll get his flowers soon."

I personally loved his WWF run from 1997-1999"

Just a very average wrestler and now stinking it up in the upper card of AEW. Somehow managed to convince Tony to give him all this tv time which perfectly sums up the current state of the product and the company. MJF's line about Jeff Jarrett showing up before the company goes down or something like that is a very bad omen. Nobody asked for this one last ride ..."

Has only ever been a champion so many times because he had the power to make himself win them, not because of his talent or because of fans liking him. He's an awful promo, with an ability to talk but with the content of a freak, talking about call girls and paedophiles while taking an inordinate amount of time to do it. He injects himself where he can feast the most like a parasite and I look forward to this final contract of his expiring."

If I were to go over his whole career he'd be an 8! But since he's currently wrestling I'm gonna look at his current run in AEW. He recently had his best AEW match with "Hangman" Adam Page and the Owen Cup Tournament has really made Jeff Jarrett a big babyface in my eyes. He's alright on the mic sometimes he can deliver a great promo but most of the time it's generic shtick. He runs a stable called, "Heat" and mostly is in a uninteresting team with Jay Lethal. His run is alright but nothing to gaa gaa about."

TNA was good even if he focused too much on himself. He booked well and TNA had a good product until the Hogan era. GFW was a disaster. Glad he got cleaned up for WWE to give him a role backstage and then a surprisingly good AEW run. In the ring Jarret is good but not great. On the mic he can be a star. He had the same freaking gimmick for almost 30 years, based only on low blows, guitar shots and referee bumps. He's probably the most repetitive heel of all times, and the most egomaniac as well. He founded three federations (USWA, TNA and GFW), where he gave titles to himself over 35 times, having the most annoying and boring reign of terror ever in TNA. At least he's having a very good run in AEW, and I have to admit that he's in great shape despite his age."

The ideal IC/US champion/contender who could work with the best of them and his look was good and he played the cocky heel, but on the other hand, the IWC always had some kind of animosity towards him, especially when he went back to WCW late in 99 and got pushed to the main event and many people felt he was overpushed to the world title. In the mid 2000's people grew even more irritable of his time in TNA. I think most people feel he got unjustly pushed to a main event spot that he didn't deserve because they couldn't accept him as being a main eventer."

His best run is probably his '99 WWF run, but that's one of them. He won everything mainly because of Vince Russo and Jerry Jarrett. But he's also the perfect example that everybody can become a legend in wrestling, no matter the ability or behavior. Edit 2023: raising my 3 to a 4 because he's been good in AEW. But in TNA and WCW he was UNWATCHABLE, I want to remark that"

[8.0] "A ten in my heart, but I got to be fair. Boy oh boy do I just adore Jeff Jarrett. I thought about writing about his career and how I think at the end of the day he's a net good in wrestling, that despite questionable title reigns and card placements he still made the wrestling world better by giving a platform to some of the best performers to grace the sport, but instead I'm going to just explain why I like him and always have. I first started watching wrestling while I was a freshman in high school in 2008. My history with wrestling was sparse at the time, only having seen a handful of segments and a single match (Umaga vs The Brian Kendrick) while being under the impression that wrestling began and ended with the WWE. Until I saw a commercial for TNA wrestling. Now granted, my original presumption was that TNA would be some sort of S&M Ultimate Surrender burlesque show (I think that I thought Samoa Joe's metal ball necklace was some sort of collar) partly due to it being on Spike TV which I hadn't watched but was aware was the "man channel". When I happened across it while browsing the DVR menu I tuned in and saw an advertisement for the main event, a Ladder Match between some guy named AJ Styles and an Olympic Gold Medalist, and decided to give this wrestling shit a fair shot. Spoiler alert for anyone who hasn't seen the match but it ends with both men at the top of the ladder, the lights going out, and then coming back on to reveal AJ holding a guitar that he then smashed over Kurt Angle's head. This was the start of Double J's return angle after a four year absence. I think. It may have started earlier, I don't actually know. But regardless, I was hooked, and over the course of a few weeks TNA built up that the founder of the company was on his way back to the Impact Zone. When he finally walked through the tubes it was nothing like I'd imagined. In this world of larger than life characters and physical specimens, out walks a guy who looks like a kid's soccer coach. When he got a mic and immediately thanked Jesus I lost my goddamn mind laughing. Something about him was immediately endearing just for feeling so out of place in the roster. And speaking as someone who never lived through him in WWF or WCW, as someone who only experienced Jeff's career from that moment forward, he's never stopped being entertaining. I've gone in and out of my fandom for him but after over a decade of watching I have come full circle and just fully and unironically love the guy. Wrestling started in carnivals, and Jeff Jarret has kept that spirit alive all the way into 2023. Whether it be shilling gold, having new titles created just for him to win and then vacate without ever losing, not putting over Effy after beating him in GCW, ending up in the fucking WWE Hall of Fame after holding the IC title hostage 20 years earlier, or riling up the crowd in a frenzy vs the Acclaimed in AEW; to me Jeff Jarrett understands wrestling in a way few others do."

[7.0] "I grew up in Tenessee watching Jeff Jarrett in the Memphis territory. He was a huge babyface in that area, second only to Jerry Lawler. He and lawler's feud with the Moondogs is legendary. However, the minute he got into the WWF they made him a heel country singer, which totally killed him upon arrival. Then, he was off to WCW for a while where he briefly became a Four Horsemen, despite what Ric Flair says in the press. Then, he went back to the WWF. It wasn't until his sexist storyline where he started assaulting females that he began to truly get some crowd heat and become entertaining. His feud with Chyna was hilarious in many ways, but Jarrett is known for holding Vince up on his last night with the company for money. I do believe during his second WCW run, he was a bit overexposed, as he seemed to be in every segment and won the WCW Title when so many others would've been better choices. He then founded TNA wrestling, where he had some great feuds with Raven and Kurt Angle. After his run there ended, it was briefly back to the WWF as a legend and now he's in AEW, though I've not caught up enough to have seen his work there. I always liked Jarrett. He's a good wrestler, can cut a decent promo, and knows more about wrestling than most of us ever will. I'm always happy when he shows up on TV."

[8.0] "I've only really seen him from his WWF run in 93ish onward, where he was mostly a heel, but the one thing I will say about Jeff is that he was a utility player who by virtue of how he was brought up in the business (the memphis territory days) could get done whatever was needed done in order to further a story along. Whether that something was a promo to get a point across/further an angle, have a acceptable match with anyone you put him in there with, being able to deliver decent work from his end on segments, etc, he was that guy for a large number of years. He also had a work style that kept him injury free for a large number of years and also played in to how he was booked. I know his main event run from 99-06 catches a lot of flack, especially under Russo's pen, but often times whether he drew a dime or not he was the most dependable guy they had because of his ability to remain uninjured."

It was clear he was in over his head as a main eventer. He was never quite good enough as a worker, and never quite good enough at cutting promos. A classic case of a midcarder booked over his head. But in the midcard he was quite competent. As he's showing in AEW, he definitely understands the psychology behind being a hated heel and he's very good at it."

From here his career seemed to go in a downward trajectory for me and by the time he was "the Chosen One" in WCW, I had chosen McMahonland for a change. Perhaps he was just very terrible at being a heel (go away/change the channel/fast forward heat) because I always lean towards his few face runs. There are highlights and hidden gems scattered throughout: Legitimately great stuff with Edge, Scott Hall, Dean Malenko and he was a hell of a tag wrestler, especially with Owen Hart. I think he definitely had value as a main event foil - someone to feud with the top babyface, maybe win the title once or twice and lose, and just remain as a foil in the main event, similar to Jay White. Although he helped put some people over in TNA, his ego during the first few years of TNA where he was beating everyone for the NWA World Title definitely cost the company some money (especially how he didn't put Marty Brown over). Good mic skills, good selling, and a great punch. But shouldn't have been a headliner - just a top level foil."
