[3.0] "Not much of a wrestler or a promo. He's most famous for getting the table and doing a headbutt to the balls while referencing a commercial that was already outdated when they started using it. I think the Dudleys are one of the worst teams to be considered legends. They peaked in 2001 and since then have been on a long and steady decline."

His chemistry with Bubba Ray as the Dudley Boyz is iconic--they helped define an entire era of tag team wrestling. While his singles career was less memorable, his work behind the scenes and as a trainer deserves recognition. Definitely underrated in terms of his overall contribution to the business."

[6.0] "Huge tag team specialist, carried a lot of his matches and did a lot of the good work to position matches in a strong way. Didn't have a lot of variation in terms of character and doesn't have a good catalogue of singles matches, but deserves a lot of credit for being the worker in the group and having a lot of the fundamentals needed to build some of the best tag team matches WWE's ever had (low bar)"

[9.0] "D-Von doesn't get enough appreciation for being so fundamentally sound (Johnny Rodz as a trainer is surely to thank). Often glossed over possibly due to that. Although he was never a flashy worker, his spinning back elbow is a thing of beauty and he had perfect timing as well. Committed and credible worker. Under appreciated mic skills, he was completely confident and had a vast array of facial expressions that sold the moment whatever it was. I also feel if D-Von was born 10 to 15 years prior, he would have fit into the golden era perfectly. I wanna circle back to his timing and how that lends itself to re-watchability, even if just to study how solid & dependable his work is. Can't leave a comment without mentioning The Dudley Boys tag team which is a top shelf team in my estimation (duh). Underrated in my book and the older I get, the more I'm constantly rewinding 5-10 seconds just to watch what his feet and arms are doing in regards to what's *about* to happen. 9.25 rounded down."

Wangler wrote on 27.10.2024:
[8.0] "Prior to the PG WWE Dudley's and hailing from the Southside of Dudleyville, the slim, trim and cut D-Von probably had even more heat from the ECW crowds. Gave plenty of abuse back too. The run in and reunion at Survivor Series 2002 is still a great moment, both WM TLC matches classics and the carnage of the first One Night Stand's end brawl a throwback to what the Dud's built careers on. Always found it odd that Bubba had the easier Cutter part of 3D, whilst D-Von did the heavy lifting setup. In a way that perfectly encapsulates the Dudleys. Second in command, yes, but 6.3 is very harsh on one half of one of the most iconic and successful tag teams ever and, by a mile, the best table finder & fetcher in the game. Testify."

[7.0] "I really don't care if D-Von was a limited sngles wrestler seeing as how he almost never worked singles matches. The more I go back and watch the old stuff, the more I realize what a pure "carpenter" he was. Always in the right position, always working realistically towards the next spot, always selling and working and staying engaged in the moment (this last point is why the Dudleys are so essential and read as such over-acheivers). Mediocre wrestlers more often than not looked good against the Dudleys and D-Von was the biggest part of that equation. I'd love to know what his peers think of him. Anyways, massively underrated for a first-ballot Hall of Fame type."

He was a very good tag wrestler though, underrated in his ability to make a match really good despite the participants not being on that level. Lacked charisma or any decent character work which explains why he never had a notable singles run."

[6.0] "D-Von was a clear tag team specialist, and his singles runs never really worked out. He didn't really have a ton of athleticism, and neither did Bubba Ray. I'll never quite understand how they had so many amazing tag team matches considering their skillsets, but the absolutely did. Two guys who weren't fantastic wrestlers who combined to make a terrific tag team."
JEK 1991 wrote on 26.11.2019:
[5.0] "I got to be fair here but D-Von was more of a tag specialist. He hasn;t had more success as a singles competitor. Only great when he was TNA TV champion. In ECW and WWE he just wrestled in tag matches. He was given that ridiculous gimmick as a reverend. It was stereotypical. Moves are decent and simple. He could have been a crusierweight. His hardcore style is great."

Wrestlefan20 wrote on 15.08.2019:

KyleEnjoysWrestling wrote on 27.07.2019:
[6.0] "Certainly the lesser of the Dudleys. D-Von still worked well with Bubba. But once Bubba became Bully, you have to wonder if he would have actually made it big if he ever truly had a big push singles run while he was still in his glory days. D-Von clearly never had the charisma to make it alone & seems too shy of a person without working off someone else. The Dudley Boyz team is one of the best of the Attitude Era though, so that is how he'll always be remembered."

Blood Pump wrote on 06.04.2017:
[4.0] "Its sad to say that hes the Janetty of The Dudley Boyz, but he kind of is. When the team split Bubba had a fair amount of success and became something of a draw. D-Von wasn't so lucky and ended up getting lost in the shuffle, which is a shame because he was just as good a ring worker as Bubba, but he couldn't quite match him mic for mic. With Bubba Ray however he was amazing, and together the two were the best ECW had to offer."
AMHTP wrote on 22.06.2016:
[5.0] "D-Von is a better worker than his partner Bubba, though he's still a bit sloppy and that isn't saying much. Still, it's hard to disrespecting the man considering the Dudley Boyz's incomparable tag-team legacy. They're not technical wrestlers, but they helped bring extreme matches into the mainstream, and D-Von's an intense and compelling promo. He was never able to cut it when it came to executing a singles run, but sometimes wrestlers are better as part of a team."
PWC wrote on 21.07.2015:
[4.0] "I really don't remember D-Von doing much during his stints in the WWE & TNA. Bubba was the more loudmouth of the duo and D-Von was always in the shadow of the Dudley Boyz and while his ring work was efficient enough, he was a bit boring overall."
DanTalksRasslin wrote on 22.06.2015:
[8.0] "As half of Team 3D/The Dudley Boyz, Devon is a tag team legend, and while he hasn't had quite the same level of breakout singles success as his partner, he's no slouch in his own right. As a capable brawler, he can be counted on for good performances whether it's a singles or tag match, and he's an underrated mic worker. Did wonders to try to establish the TNA Television Title into something worthwhile, until the company decided to stop bothering with it. Still working regularly, but when his career does wind down, it looks like he'll continue a major role in the wrestling business as a trainer at the Team 3D Academy."

I was happy for him to win the TNA TV title, but his reveal as the first member of Aces & Eights was a memorable twist that no one saw coming. Maybe now that Devon & Bully Ray are in the same heel faction, we can see one more tag title reign for the two."
