Despite at the end of his career he has put up absolute classics, and the most recent with nakamura should be counted as one to. It's a shame that Vince sold the bag with him vs Nakamura in mania 34. It could have been one of the greatest matches of all time. It's sad to see Aj go but it's time. I will always remember him as one of the best to ever do it. I will certainly tell my kids in 10 years about him."

Whether he was in TNA, NJPW, the indies, & eventually to the WWE, he was always the absolutely best wrestler worldwide."

[10.0] "I think it's important to remember some context around AJ's career. He constantly found himself in locker rooms of favoured and established talent, time and time again he reinvented himself to immense success. When people think about his era in TNA, they think of his matches with Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels. Not Booker T, not even Sting or Hogan or Jeff Hardy - he was Mr TNA when it felt like the company didn't want him to be. After he left, indie wrestling was in a boom period, he took over the most over faction and took it to new heights and flourished in ROH. It was also still incredibly rare for foreigners to succeed in Japan and at that time, Tanahashi, Okada, Naito, Nakamura were all in their primes. Though you could also point to wrestlers like the Young Bucks who contributed to the change in tide, he would become world champion and main event the Tokyo Dome making way for the likes of Kenny Omega and ZSJ to do the same. Finally, WWE at a time when they were desperate for new stars. In 2016 John Cena was still full time, Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan were constantly in the main event when available and The Shield, while destined for the top spot, were taking time to develop, Roman especially. Time and time again new stars like Bray Wyatt and a little later, Strowman, Corbin and even Jinder Mahal were desirable foils yet struggled to get over. Within his first year, he became world champion and later did so for over a year which was very rare at the time. I don't think it took longer than his first night to be over with the fans. From X division to heavyweight, he kept an explosive style that led to a career that is up there for the greatest ever."

Whether you look deep into his past or right here & now at his current stuff, he has always been the same AJ Styles; ring-awareness that is virtually unparalleled, pretty solid on mic, the Pele Kick is the stuff of dreams. Has forgotten more about wrestling than many probably ever learn."

It's unfortunate that every other aspect of his work takes away from the fact that he's fantastic in the ring. Unfortunately pro wrestling is so much more than what happens after the bell rings."

He also has a great wrestling attire and is pretty decent on the mic. Styles should have one more world title run or an Intercontinental Championship run. Yes, i know he ain't the best on the mic, but he is decent enough with his southern accent. Even today, he moves like he is in his late 20's. AJ's best rivals were Christopher Daniels .Samoa Joe, John Cena, Sting, Kurt Angle. His contributions for the X-Division are noteworthy and whenever someone mentions TNA, AJ Styles is the first name that pops up. Unbelievable Wrestler EDIT: I was not very familiar with his NJPW run before writing this comment so I checked out a lot of his matches and I have to say what was a little hesitant 10 is now a strong 10. His NJPW run is his best in my opinion. His in ring psychology improved and his character work was way better than anything in TNA. As the leader of the Bullet Club, AJ was somewhat cocky, arrogant and brash but backed all of that up in the ring and gave some classic matches with the likes of Okada, Ibushi, Nakamura, Suzuki and Tanahashi."

[10.0] "AJ Styles is, without question, the greatest wrestler to ever come out of TNA--period. He stands alone as the singular legend of that promotion, having conquered every territory he ever set foot in, from the independents to New Japan, and finally WWE. His versatility, athleticism, and uncanny ability to adapt to any environment are unmatched. Stylistically, AJ is a master of innovation and storytelling inside the ring. His matches are consistently thrilling, blending high-risk maneuvers with grounded psychology and crisp execution. He doesn't just wrestle; he elevates every opponent and every show he's part of. AJ's legacy is that of a consummate professional who carried the underdog label and turned it into an icon status. That said, it's absolutely infuriating to see what has become of him in 2025. WWE's current booking is an insult to everything AJ represents. The once-prized ace, capable of stealing the spotlight against any challenger, is now relegated to losing to virtually anyone on the roster. It's baffling, embarrassing, and frankly disrespectful to a man who gave decades of his life to elevate wrestling everywhere he went. AJ Styles deserves a legendary status and treatment to match--not this blatant degradation. His in-ring excellence and career-long achievements make a perfect 10.0 mandatory. What WWE is doing to him now is an unforgivable blemish on an otherwise immaculate record."

[6.0] "AJ Styles is technically sharp, incredibly athletic, and has delivered some great matches over the years. No one's denying that. But that can only carry him so far. The real issue is that outside the ring, there just isn't much that grabs you. His promos usually hover around average, sometimes falling flat or coming off awkward. He struggles to show real conviction or intensity, and there's a stiffness to his personality that makes even big storylines feel like they're missing something when he's involved. He's not bad. He's just consistently bland. He leans heavily on his real-life persona, but it doesn't add much. It lacks depth and doesn't really fit the larger-than-life energy that pro wrestling is built on. In today's wrestling world, where presence and character are just as important as what you can do in the ring, AJ often feels like he's stuck in place. You can respect his talent, but it's hard to care all that much about what he's doing"

His athleticism is just mind-blowing the way he moves, the precision of his strikes, and those high-flying maneuvers, it's all just poetry in motion. But it's not just the flashy stuff. AJ's in-ring psychology is top-tier. He tells a story with every match, making you believe in every struggle and every comeback. He can adapt to any opponent, any style, and always delivers a clinic. From his technical prowess to his incredible charisma, AJ Styles truly embodies what it means to be phenomenal. In the ring, he's a master technician--fast, precise, and endlessly adaptable. Whether he's facing a powerhouse or a high-flyer, AJ makes every match feel fresh and competitive. On the mic, he's direct and believable, never overacting, just saying enough to sell the moment. He brings a rare mix of credibility and consistency that elevates everything around him. I enjoyed his run in TNA, and when he came to WWE he was already one of the biggest names in wrestling, which is quite a feat in itself. Was never the biggest nor the most charismatic, but I think his mic work in the fed was quite underrated. All in all - there will never be another like him!"

He can hang with anyone--from cruiserweights to heavyweights--and always brings credibility to his matches. While he's not known for being the best promo guy in the business, he's improved greatly over the years and carries himself with authenticity and confidence. His character work--especially as a heel--has depth, and he plays both face and heel convincingly. Few wrestlers have the resume and consistency that AJ Styles has maintained across multiple top promotions. He's a Hall of Fame level performer whose influence is undeniable. The only reason I'm not giving a 10 is because while he's excellent in many areas, he hasn't necessarily redefined wrestling the way some all-time legends have. Still, an all-time great."

[10.0] "For over a decade, AJ Styles was a consistent top 5 performer in the professional wrestling landscape, earning his "Phenomenal One" nickname. Here you have a guy who could have a great match with, literally, anyone you put him in the ring with no matter what shape and size they came in, he'll make anyone look good. First exposure was in the dying days of WCW, which some have forgotten that he started in Atlanta under the Air Styles name (LOL! ). Then WCW died and got bought out by WWF in 2001, AJ Styles even competed in WWF briefly, which is so funny to think about. AJ Styles would mostly spend his early career in competing in other promotions back to back, whether it was Ring of Honor, TNA or IWA Mid-South, he was practically in a good spot getting booked everywhere showcasing his talents. Mostly sticking with ROH and TNA where he was having amazing matches with the likes of American Dragon, Jerry Lynn, Low-Ki, D-Lo Brown, Sean Waltman, Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, Abyss, CM Punk, the list goes on and on and on. While still doing Indy bookings and even doing trips to Japan, he was mostly a TNA guy during the 2000s often being their best wrestler that didn't come from "The Fed" as the cool kids call it these days. He ended up leaving TNA due to money problems, and went to work for New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring of Honor and what have you, his run in NJPW truly elevated his legacy to legend status, being one of the best gaijin wrestlers having clinics with the likes of Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Minoru Suzuki, Shinsuke Nakamura, Tetsuya Naito, etc. one of the all time best runs in any wrestlers career. Then he returns to the WWE in the 2016 Royal Rumble match, receiving one of the loudest pops in WWE's history, a moment no one ever thought would happen. His first year in WWE is among his best work he's ever had, being a great WWE Champion, running SmackDown during a great era for the brand, amazing feud with John Cena, etc. (just forget James Ellsworth). I felt like his run after 2016 became underwhelming after awhile until 2024 where he had an amazing feud with Cody Rhodes, let's hope he can keep it up going forward. Overall, AJ Styles is one of the best high flyers of all time, one of the best move sets ever, even has showcased he can be a good promo when he's given the right material, a true veteran in this profession."

"It's awesome that I get to sit here and use the "legend" or "legendary" moniker to describe AJ Styles, but that's exactly what he's become. Between the ropes, he's always had it. He helped pioneer the TNA X-Division, which became a lower-cost cruiserweight division of sorts, but with better marketing. During those years, he didn't cut a ton of promos. He didn't need to. He let his work do the talking. As he got to show more of his personality in angles with Kurt Angle, Christian Cage and others, I think there was a fear amongst fans that his goofier side could relegate him away from the top two matches on the show -- which we all knew was where he belonged. However, after the Fortune angle, we got to see glimpses of the AJ Styles that would go on to have success in New Japan and ROH -- a more serious AJ Styles; almost this lone wolf type of character. This would be the AJ Styles that would go on to lead the Bullet Club and quietly adapt his style away from the human highlight reel version of himself fans came to know and love over the first half of his career. Knowingly or unknowingly, "Uncle Allen" came out of his New Japan run as WWE ready as any talent had been in a long time. He (almost) immediately endeared himself to Vince McMahon, feuded with John Cena, and had a year-long reign as WWE champion during which he faced off against Shinsuke Nakamura in a rematch from Wrestle Kingdom 10. These are things no one would have thought possible once upon a time. He's now on his 10th year in WWE, and at 47 years old, you could still call him a top-20 performer in the world. To me, all of that is grounds for talk of AJ among the greatest of all-time, and certainly of his own time. He went from being a true innovator for wrestlers of a certain size to becoming the closest thing we've had to mid-2000s Shawn Michaels over the last decade. It's not just his talent -- it's his commitment to the craft and upward trajectory as a performer where I think we really need to give AJ his flowers. Legitimately one of the best to ever do it."
