[8.0] "This was a great match. Bryan Danielson was on his final run in wrestling, barring any sort of one off matches in the future. He had already won the Owen Hart tournament and would face Swerve Strickland at All In for the AEW Championship. Before that happened though, he wrestled Jeff Jarrett in an Anything Goes match. Jarrett claimed that he wanted to face Danielson this way as a means to prepare him for Swerve. That included Jarrett attacking him during entrances with a guitar. It wasn't nefarious or Jarrett turning heel, it was a tough lesson type of deal. They brawled throughout the arena, even suplexing each other on a trash can. Brawling at ringside, all the while Jarrett is trying to destroy Danielson's legs. Danielson fought back and eventually won with the Busaiku Knee into a steel chair that hit Jarrett. This was Jarrett's best match in years, probably since his match with Kurt Angle at Slammiversary 2011. ****"
[9.0] "This was a very good match. It's honestly mind-blowing that it was shorter than two other matches on the same show, because it packed in so much storytelling and hit multiple angles. It felt significantly longer in the best way. What they accomplished in just 15 minutes is seriously impressive. The match kicked off with a fantastic brawl outside the ring, and not one of those generic, throwaway brawls either. It felt raw and real, with both guys throwing legit-looking punches. Every moment felt organic and was an absolute blast to watch. The final stretch shifted more toward Jarrett's in-ring work, relying on his mobility, and while it wasn't quite as strong as the opening, it still held up well. One standout moment was Bryan escaping the figure-four with a chair shot, then sealing the win with a Busaiku Knee, which was also chair-assisted. It was a great example of simple storytelling executed brilliantly. All in all, I absolutely loved this main event. ****1/4"
[8.0] "[3.5*] This started off in a pretty fucking cool way with JJ hitting Bryan with the guitar, but not because he is a heel, he did it because he was trying to show Bryan that he needs to be always ready. Simple but very effective storytelling. They beat the hell out of each other and my favorite moment was the brawl inside the social area of the arena, the crowd chanting Holy Shit alongside it created an incredible atmosphere. When they came back they did some phenomenal punches, these small details are something that I love. Bryan breaking the sub with the chair was beautiful and the ending with the Busaiku Knee + Chair was great."
[8.0] "Very good match, the fact that this was shorter than two other matches in this same show is mindblowing, because they told a lot of stories and worked several different angles, so it looked much longer, and it's impressive what they did in only 15 minutes. The match started incredibly well, with a brawl outside of the ring, but not a lame one, they were legitimately fighting and throwing punches into another, I loved every single minute, on the stairs and at the cafeteria, everything looked natural and extremely enjoyable to watch. The later stages were also good but relied a little bit more on Jarrett's mobility and it wasn't as good, but it was pretty cool nonetheless, I loved when Bryan freed himself from the figure four with a chair shot, and later won the match with that same chair assisting the busaiku knee. Simple stories and brilliant executions, I loved this main event - {***3/4}"
[8.0] "This was a great match with a great story leading up to it as well. I was one of the one's against Jarrett joining AEW's roster, but he's been a surprisingly great addition to it overall in his current role."
[7.0] "Jeff Jarrett has been a highlight of AEW for the past couple months so it was cool to see him get this mini program and main event match against Danielson. I wish it wasn't as much of a walk n brawl as it was but I get Danielson is fragile at this point and they don't want to risk the Wembly main event."
"It is an interesting match. Apparently the story is Jeff preparing Bryan for All In and it shows. Jeff attacking Bryan during his entrance sets the ante, and the crowd brawling seems to have a few mini trials. Like Jeff introducing a trash can and throwing it at Bryan, and Bryan soon after uses a aluminum can from the spilt trash to regain the advantage. And a simple case where Jeff suplexes Bryan on a trash can but is second attempt is reversed so Bryan suplexss him on it. And the chair section in the ring, where after a few hits on Bryan, Jeff spots Bryan's more particular reaction to the knee shot and zeroes in on that leg. Bryan eventually regains thr advantage with his famous turnbuckle backflip comeback. And his knee hinders him for a second, but he lands the clothesline to finish it successfully. And he keeps up his comeback with a suicide dive and drop kick but once Bryan makes the choice to shine that particular knee infront of Jarretts face through his apron running knee, Jarrett immediately counters with a chairshot to it. Bryan regains control through reversing Jeff's attempts at breaking his leg into a spider suplex. He does his YES! kicks to Jeff but once again he shines that injured knee through the final roundhouse kick windup and Jeff snatches him for it and Figure Fours Bryan. But Bryan reverses it through using that chair on Jeff's own leg and that chair is the key, because he does his Running Knee but this time the chair is in front of it and blinding the light and he hits Jeff with the chaired knee and wins. But I've seen talk of Jeff losing sight of his goal to teach Bryan (in an allied way) in the second half I missed that on my first watch but going back, it shows when Jeff tird to break Bryan's leg, a lil too far from the intent. And the chair started it so maybe he was woken up from that when he got hit with it in the figure four? Because his final attack on Bryan's leg after the figure four is a sharpshooter, mentioned by commentary ad a tribute to Owen, the tourney dedicated to him that Jeff faltered in that gave Bryan the AEW title opportunity, the reason Jeff is so invested and had this match with Bryan. So maybe the sharpshooter shows a recalibration of Jeff's intents, it aligning with the leg attacks that singaled him going too far? It acts as a transition between that dark side and Jeff finding is original intent once again in the punch exchange, that has that connotation they always have and is furthered by the growing intensity of it. And Bryan using the weapon that started it to wake him up and put him away. I liked the match but overall I thought considering the goals and talk, it was too efficient. Like trash cans, they're the ol reliable, the classic, but the match had intents past that throwback and they're not really brutal. We all have trash cans, we can estimate the pain from getting hit from one (it wouldn't hurt that much, too hollow and light). The aluminum can shots I can buy, but I wish the attacks themselves in that stage went farther. Like tie him up in stair guardrail in crowd and get some sharp punchss on the forehead idk. But I enjoyed the match."
[6.0] "In truth, a disappointing match for me but still entertaining and a good main event. Here Bryan was working Jarrett's style but I was mostly looking forward to seeing Jarrett have to adapt to Bryan, which didn't really happen."
[7.0] "Wild and woolly, a party match of the throwback variety. The Memphis brawling that they lead with is glorious, featuring some terrific punches before returning to ringside. From there, I think their content slightly struggles for elevation, but the pace is incredibly impressive nonetheless. Jarrett really pushes it in that regard and at 56, swings for the fences with a genuine GOAT candidate who's currently in the midst of yet another brilliant campaign. For me, the match is limited slightly by context, as this build frames the violence in a fashion that's hard to fully overcome. Regardless, an absolute hoot, tremendous TV main event. ***1/2"
[8.0] "I absolutely adored this match. I thought it was Jeff Jarrett's best outing in years even topping the great match he had with Hangman a couple weeks ago. This was a old school brawl. No cheap contrived set pieces they just used the space effectively. The improvised feel gave the match a sense of spontaneity."
[8.0] "This match was way better than it had any right to be. Was surprised it was closing the show and not opening it, but they killed it and it was a great match. I don't know how i got to the point of actively wanting to see Jeff Jarrett on a wrestling show, but man they've really made magic here with his current character. Good stuff."
[9.0] "Jeff Jarrett and Bryan Danielson had an amazing match. I understand Jeff gets the generic hate thrown his way but Double J is a really good worker even for his age now. From the early start with Jarrett attack Danielson from the start with the guitar, to the brawl in the crowd with the trash can spots, all the way to the chair escape of the figure four by Danielson. Heated Drama. Legends of TBS with Ricky Steamboat on the call. Amazing match. 4.25/5 Stars"
[7.0] "This was a fun and exciting match; the stipulation really added to it and the storyline going into the match was really interesting in my opinion. Seeing Jarrett work like a heel, yet it being all an attempt to prepare Danielson for Wembley was kind of different, and interesting. Danielson and Jarrett wrestled a fun match; I enjoyed the crowd brawls and in the ring, there was a lot of great moments. The Figure-Four being broken out of with the chair, the finish was good too. It's kind of crazy to think this could be Danielson's last Dynamite match ever, but if it is, it's a pretty damn good way to go out in my opinion."
[6.0] "Is there any surprise that this wound up working? Despite his less than great reputation, Jarrett has been around for going on forty years and wrestles a very effective style. This was a fun brawl with both guys getting to show off a bit before we got to the serious stuff at the end."
[9.0] "I'm a major Jarrett skeptic, I don't think he's ever been very good and the recent mini-surge of fandom for him hasn't changed my view. This however is probably one of his best matches ever, a lot of credit goes to Danielson for that but hey, I won't lie, Jarrett put in extra effort here to make this match stand out. Great TV brawl and worked well in the larger story."
[8.0] "Good 'old-fashioned fun, but I'm not going to swallow the nostalgia pill on this one. Yes, it's fun to see two legends throw punches and brawl around to stadium. The chair spot with the figure four was great, and the finish with said chair was really good as well. Do I care for how Danielson took control back in the match, no. Kinda hated it actually, it just kinda happened. Did it feel like they could've done a bit more with their time? Also yes. Still liked what we got, but felt they weren't far off from me loving it. 4 Stars."
[9.0] "I'm pretty comfortable saying AEW Jarrett is my favorite Jarrett run now. This match fucking ruled man, from the immediate guitar shot all the way to the finish. The way it began allowed Jeff to keep an upper hand in the first half with all the brawling and shit like suplexes onto actual venue trash cans, which is great both for the greater story and because Danielson is THE comeback artist. Jeff beating Bryan down and targeting the leg to test him, getting on the Figure Four with Steamboat on commentary, and the fantastic way Bryan got out of it, the struggle on the mat, and the brutal chair-assisted Busaiku Knee finish that busts Jarrett open. This was excellent TV wrestling, and I thought both of the fallouts (the solid on-air promo and the awesome backstage Hangman attack on JJ) added a lot to this as well. ****1/4"
[7.0] "Incredible main event match. The point here was to see if bryan was willing to go all in for all in and it definitely helped that story beat. Im enjoying this bryan story so much and im genuinely excited and interested for all in."
[8.0] "This was sick. A really great brawl and definitely the best match on this week's Dynamite. Starts off with Jarrett clocking Bryan with a guitar while he's making his entrance before they both start brawling in the crowd and to the concession area. They eventually brawl back down to the ring where Danielson manages to nail Jarrett with some nasty kicks while Jarrett goes after Danielson with some great looking chairshots. Towards the end Jarrett goes after Bryan's leg's with a figure 4 but Bryan gets out of it by just grabbing a chair and smashing it over Jeff's legs to break up the hold. After that the two engage in a really awesome hockey fight before Bryan wins with a chair assisted Busaiku knee. Really great match with Bryan being as great as ever and Jarrett continuing his hot streak after his match with Hangman. Looks like we're getting a rematch between those two at Wembley and I can't wait for it. ****1/4"
[9.0] "One thing I love about matches like this, and it's a small detail but so good, is the lack of going under the ring for all the weapons and toys. Just grabbing and using whatever is nearest to you, not knowing what you're going to use next, adding to that sense that anything can happen in an anything goes match. Bryan's great selling of the knee, Jarrett rolling back the years (again), and the crowd just being so happy to be there makes this lowkey one of my favourite Dynamite matches of the year. Go check it out!"
[9.0] "I thought this was a tremendous match. The story and intensity was very good and you could tell Danielson was pissed about Jarrett's comments and he really is fired up for Wembley. The brawling in the crowd was great and had a lot of heat and then the limb work back in the ring was great with Jarrett's natural heel instincts kicking in and Danielson's natural underdog instincts following aswell. Great match."
"Liked a lot how Jarrett did not turn heel on Danielson but just wanted to test him and show him how aggressive and ruthless Swerve can be. Very good storytelling with a fun brawl and lots of aggression to really test Danielson weeks away of his championship match with Swerve Strickland - who in a promo earlier in the show once again showed no remorse for his actions in the past, simply did to make a name for himself and does not care about Danielson or his family. Very well done, simple but very effective. 7/10"
[7.0] "A lot of fun! Fun brawling with a touch of 80s to it - Jarrett continues to shine with his energetic performances in this current storyline of his."
[8.0] "Hell of a match between this two, a really good old schol brawl. Loved the start with JJ hitting Bryan with his guitar while the Dragon was making his entrance. They started brawling all over the arena: first in the crowd then they moved in the concession area where Jarrett even suplexed Bryan on a trash can. The second part of the match saw them wrestle a more traditional wrestling match. JJ worked on the leg and locked in a figure four only for Bryan to hit him with a chiar to escape the hold. Bryan survives a stroke on a chair and locks in the lebell lock. Then the two procedeed to have one of the best punch exchanges that I've seen in recent memory. Stuff that you rarely see in wrestling nowdays. Bryan sends JJ against a chair and hits a busaiku knee with a chair for the win. Great finish, great match. JJ can still go. At 57 he's in great shape and has exceptional cardio. Bryan's the goat but we already knew that. 8/10 - 4*/5*"
[8.0] "This rocked. I felt like I was being transported into a time warp to 20 years ago watching this, and I wasn't even a wrestling fan 20 years ago. This had such an undoubtedly throwback feel, felt like the old brawls between guys like Mick Foley, The Rock, Al Snow and Hardcore Holly. They fought in the backstage area, they hit eachother with a bunch of different weapons, and the second half where they turned it back into a proper wrestling match was fun too. The Busaiku Knee into a chair is a cool finish to what felt like a really cool old-school brawl. In an alternate timeline, this could've been the main event of an In Your House. ****"
[4.0] "There's no real reason why Jeff Jarret should be wrestling on AEW's main television show in 2024. The man has a niche, we can all acknowledge. He's a classic heel, hits people with his gimmicked guitar, apes Rick Flair a bit, and at his best moments gets the crowd to boo him. But that's not what AEW needs, that's not what its audience has ever wanted. In a match against Bryan Danielson, Jeff Jarrate has nothing to offer. Bryan is already clearly playing it safe. He's probably winning the championship in three weeks, and he's clearly still recovering back health issues that have never been honestly shared with AEW fans. Suffice to say, he's not putting his all into this match. Does Jeff Jarret elevate himself to make up for it? Of course not. They brawl through the audience, throw some trash cans at each other, and return to the ring so Bryan can pop the crowd a bit, finish JJ with his big move, and send the crowd home happy. It's a match that would have been fine on Rampage where no one has any expectations in the first place. But for a Dynamite Main Event to have below average wrestling, no stakes, no drama or interesting story, and did I say unimpressive wrestling? What are we even doing here? Where'd the AEW from Revolution and Dynasty go? Maybe it make sense to have Jarrett on a show in North Carolina, but I'm tired of these shit matches with hometown heroes that do nothing for TV, do nothing for longterm storytelling, and the audience doesn't even care much anyway."
[8.0] "4.25/5. Really awesome match. Good crowd brawling that became great when they got in the concession area. Danielson was getting beat around and bouncing off of fans and they were pushing him back into the fight it had me cheesing. Jarrett was super aggressive here to the point I was wondering if he was really trying to see if he Bryan was ready or if he was actually trying to take him out himself. These two guys just get it. Danielson last 12 months has been insane levels of in ring quality and Jeff is doing his best work in AEW right now. This was a great brawl with a hot crowd and a great finish with the Busaiku knee with the chair."
[8.0] "Just classic American southern wrestling. Its really cool that Bryan Danielson's final year plan clearly involved wanting to do a garbage plunder match against Jeff Jarrett. Concourse segment with the garbage can bumps was fun. Hot crowd for the entire event and the finish with the flying knee + chair rocked. Jarrett bleeding after also a really nice touch. Between this and the main event of Dynamite: Beach Break against Hangman Adam Page, I would hope Jeff Jarrett has silenced any remaining doubters of his role in AEW."
